Kyrie walked into Devil May Cry. It had been almost a month since Dante had been injured and even though he had healed quickly she still felt extremely guilty for it happening in the first place.

She was after all his partner and she should have been able to assist him and protect herself. It had started to become a common trend among the two of them, Dante would go through hell if it meant Kyrie remained somewhat unscathed.

That had been the case for quite some time, ever since Kyrie had become injured. Dante had felt guilty just as she did now.

She had gone for a walk and decided that perhaps it was best if she moved on. She had already stayed at the shop much longer than she had ever meant to and felt it was necessary for both of them that she leave.

Dante had his feet propped up on his desk with a magazine inches from his face, the latest girls and cars edition.

"Hey sweetie." Dante greeted to her. Kyrie didn't know if she had been picking up on tones that weren't there lately but Dante had seemed to take on a more endearing voice with her.

He had always been friendly and gentle towards her but she felt as if there was something different in the last few weeks.

"Hello Dante." Kyrie said stopping in front of his desk. She leaned against it with her back slightly towards him so she could face the door. "There's something that I have to tell you."

"Oh yeah?" She heard the magazine rustle a bit as he placed it down. His chair clunked forward as he sat upright. "What's up?"

"I've been thinking and I, um, I think that it may be...we'll might be for the best if I...if I go on my way." She stammered out. She shut her eyes and took a deep breath to steel herself.

"Oh. Well if that's what you feel is best for you then go for it." Dante replied somewhat flatly. She heard him kick his feet back up and grab the magazine he had bee reading.

Kyrie felt awful. She could hear the hurt tone in his voice. It tore into her heart and made it ache tremendously.

"Yeah. Maybe." She stated meekly feeling her voice catch in her throat, an action that wasn't lost on Dante. She heard him take a deep sigh.

In a moment he was in front of her bringing her gaze to meet his. He was close to her but there was still space between them. He placed his hands on her shoulders gently.

"What's wrong sweetheart." He said.

"I just, I've been here longer than I should have and I can't keep holding you up like this." She replied.

"Holding me up? What do you mean?" He wondered with a slight smirk.

"I get in the way. On missions, you've been trying to protect me and end up getting hurt." She blurted out. She adverted her gaze away from his to glance off to her side. "I can't stand that you've been getting hurt because of me."

Dante's fingers went to her chin and he brought her attention back towards him. "Kyrie I would much rather I get hurt and be laid up for an hour then you get hurt and almost get killed."

"If I weren't around then you probably wouldn't be getting hurt at all." She quipped back softly.

"You don't know that and if you take off then you won't." Dante stated with another small smirk. "I'm gonna be honest with you Kyrie, I don't want you to go. If you wanna then I won't stop you but make sure it's what you really want to do and not just because you feel as if you have to."

Kyrie stared into the glacial blue orbs that belonged to the elder hunter and sighed. She could get lost in them. They were icy but held such warmth behind them it was almost unbearable to look at him sometimes especially when he was being sincere.

"Dante I don't want to go. I like it here and I enjoy your company." She said after a moment or so had passed. "I like you." Kyrie felt the words tumble from her lips unintentionally.

Her cheeks instantly ignited in a blush that she could feel burn to her ears. She hadn't even realized the depth of what she had said until she took in Dante's expression. He was surprised.

"I like you to Kyrie." He said gently his fingers tightening a bit around her shoulders so that his grip wasn't so loose. She swallowed hard not being able to respond.

"I, um, I should start dinner." She said feeling as if her brain had fallen under a haze. She took in Dante's features as he nodded at her once.

"Need any help?" He asked. Kyrie could feel that Dante wanted to kiss her. She remembered it from when she and Nero were younger, it was a tension between them that she felt couldn't be cut wit any blade.

"I can manage." She replied. Dante gave another nod removing his hands from her shoulders.

"Alright then." He said his voice back to its usual tone. Kyrie gave a small smile feeling lighter than she had felt in a long time.
