Chapter 49: Aftermath

James yawned as he made his way down the hallway to Kendall's room. Kendall had woken up last night and everyone had been relieved. Kendall had had a hard time processing everything, but he listened to the doctor and they kept him overnight. They had one last test they wanted to retake. Dr. Hernandez said it was inconclusive. She needed a clearer picture to make a diagnosis. She explained that the heart attack may have caused damage to one of Kendall's heart valves. She just wanted to make sure that the tests were correct. She didn't want to have to do surgery unless it was absolutely necessary.

After all that was said and done everyone had come to see Kendall. He assured them all that he was fine. He even got scolded by Jennifer about taking time off from work and not overworking himself, something his four older kids enjoyed watching. Kendall and James didn't mention the possibility of surgery to anyone. They didn't want the kids to freak out, until they knew for sure. Why get them all worked up if it was nothing.

James entered Kendall's room. He saw Kendall picking at his food. He glanced up and smiled at James.

"Hospital food sucks," Kendall said simply.

"Eat it anyways," James replied. He crossed the room and sat down next to Kendall.

"They took me all over this morning, we are just waiting on results now," Kendall explained.

"Good, let's just hope everything is fine," James said. He didn't want Kendall to have to go through surgery.

"Yeah, I don't really feel like getting my chest cut open," Kendall replied dryly.

"It only hurts for a little bit, the benefits outweigh the cons."

The pair looked to the door. Logan was standing there with a smirk. He wasn't wearing his white coat, which meant he was here on his own.

"Of course you'd say that, you're a doctor, a surgeon who get paid to cut people open," James replied.

"So it true then? There's damage?" Logan asked walking into the room.

"I don't know, they poked and prodded me this morning and I haven't heard anything yet," Kendall replied.

"Ramona is thorough. She won't order a surgery unless it's absolutely necessary," Logan said as he leaned against the wall.

"Ramona?" Kendall asked.

"Dr. Hernandez," Logan said rolling his eyes.

"So, Carlos stopped by too. He was looking for you," Kendall said changing the subject. "Get in a fight or something?"

"You didn't tell him?" Logan asked looking to James surprised.

"Wasn't my place to say, so it's true then," James asked.

"Tell me what?" Kendall asked confused. He looked between the two. Logan sighed and closed the door.

"Carlos cheated on me. Apparently I make him feel like he doesn't matter," Logan bitterly.

"What?" Kendall asked.

"I'm not saying it again," Logan snapped. "I left last night and I checked into a hotel for now. I just...I don't know what to do," he admitted.

"Logan I'm sorry," James said softly.

"It's not your fault James, you only told me what I was too blind to see," Logan replied.

"You gotta talk to him Logan he's upset. He wants to make things right?" Kendall said.

"And I'm not upset? He kissed another woman," Logan spat.

"I didn't say that," Kendall replied.

"How do you make things right? Our marriage had been falling apart for a long time. It was only a matter of time," Logan sighed bitterly. He sank into the chair on Kendall's other side.

"Don't say that," Kendall said.

"Why not it's the truth," Logan sighed sinking into his chair further.

"Every couple has their issues," Kendall replied.

"Yeah, I just have to find a reason to want to save my marriage," Logan said bleakly.

"Stop it, you love him and he loves you," Kendall said quickly glaring at the brunette.

"Obviously he loves me, he loves me so much in fact that he goes around kissing other people," Logan snapped.

Kendall opened his mouth to retort. James held a hand up to him.

"Kendall stop," James said cutting off his husband. Sitting here arguing wasn't going to help anyone. "Logan needs time to think and maybe some time apart would do them some good."

"Are you serious right now?" Kendall asked looking to his husband shocked.

"Yes, you don't know what he's going through. You've never been cheated on as far as I know. I have never cheated on you. Logan anyone who cheats on you is stupid, you have to decide whether or not it's worth it to try and save your relationship," James said seriously.

"Are you nuts! We've been together for practically twenty years I love him! Of course he's worth it," Logan hollered quickly. He paused and looked at James who was smirking.

"I think you have your answer Logan," James replied.

"Maybe, I just need some time to think," Logan sighed.

"Take all the time you need, but at least call him back and let him know you're alright. He showed up freaking out," Kendall said.

"I'll let him know you're ok, and that you just need some time," James offered quickly. Logan just nodded his head.

-We Are-

Kyle was sitting at lunch. Something was wrong though. No one was talking except Leora, Caleb, and Jayda. They were all talking about some new monster movie. Kyle wasn't paying attention to them. Lucas was off in his own world with his phone glued to his hands. He was probably texting Artie. Kyle was paying attention to Lilly and Miles, who were being awfully quiet.

"Are you two ok? Miles you've been really quiet all mornings and I'm starting to get worried," Kyle said finally decided enough was enough. Miles and Lilly looked up at him shocked. They seemed taken off guard by Kyle's sudden question. Lilly nudged Miles, he jumped slightly.

"Uh yeah, I'm fine," Miles said sitting up straight. It didn't seem sincere. Lilly returned her attention to her food, playing with it rather than eating it.

"Are you sure?" Kyle asked arching a brow at his friend. Something was up. This wasn't normal.

"Uh...yeah," Miles said.

"You know you can't lie to me right?" Kyle asked.

"It's just...family stuff," Miles said glancing over at Lilly, who was no doubt listening to them.

"Oh," Kyle said slowly. He arched a brow at Miles.

Miles just shook his head and tilted it towards Lilly. Miles didn't want to talk in front of her. Kyle would press more on this later.

The pair finished lunch and left the others. Kyle led Miles away before Lilly could even say anything. He took outside to the parking lot. They still had some time before the bell rang for class. Kyle wanted to know what was up.

"What?" Miles asked.

"Something is wrong now spill," Kyle said.

Miles looked around and shook his head. "Not here, not in public."

Kyle rolled his eyes. Miles was just being difficult now. He whipped his keys out and pushed Miles towards his car. They got in and Kyle gave Miles a look that told him this better be worth it.

"I think dad and papi are gonna get a divorce," Miles said finally.

"You're joking right?" Kyle asked his jaw hanging in shock.

"No, they were arguing last night. Papi cheated with that woman from his show and dad stormed out. We haven't heard from him since," Miles explained.

"What? That's insane," Kyle said shaking his head. That didn't sound like either Carlos or Logan. Well, the storming out thing was a Logan thing to do.

"I know," Miles said looking out the window. He sighed. "I feel like it's my fault. I just seem to bring chaos and dysfunction everywhere I go."

"Dude knock it off, it's not your fault," Kyle said quickly. He didn't need Miles going all depressed on him again. He was just starting to move on from Rion's death.

"Sorry, it just seems like I'm cursed. I can't ever be happy," Miles mumbled.

"You can too, you were happy with Rion. What happened to her wasn't your fault. What happened between yours dads wasn't your fault. They've always had some issues," Kyle said.

"I know...I just..." Miles trailed off.

"Dude, knock it off. You're awesome and don't need to be talking like that," Kyle snapped.

The two fell silent for a moment. Miles seemed to be thinking Kyle's words over. A smile appeared on the brunette's lips.

"You're right, I'm Miles Drake...no I mean Miles Mitchell and I'm fucking awesome," Miles said cockily. Kyle laughed and punched his arm.

"There you go," Kyle said with a smile.

"Thanks dude," Miles said.

"Don't worry about it too much. I went through this with my dads too. I thought they were going to get a divorce too. Just gotta let them work it out themselves," Kyle said.

"I know...it just sucks," Miles sighed.

-We Are-

Carlos bit his lip as he paced back and forth in his dressing room. He was on break since he wasn't in the scene that was being shot. Carlos had been trying to call Logan all morning. He wasn't answer his phone. Carlos had left several messages and got no answer or a call back. He was worried. No one had heard from Logan since last night. Carlos wasn't sure what to think. He hoped that Logan hadn't gone and done anything dumb.

If Carlos was being honest with himself, this was all his fault. He was the one who messed up. Logan had every right to be mad at him. Cheating was cheating.

"Everything ok?"

Carlos turned and saw Emily standing in the doorway of his dressing room.

"Yeah," Carlos said.

"Are you sure, you've been acting strange all day," Emily said.

"Yeah, I just...I messed up and I have to find a way to make something right," Carlos sighed.

"Make what right?" Emily asked curiously.

"Things with my husband," Carlos replied.

"Oh."

"Yeah, never get married, it's just a headache," Carlos said somewhat bitterly.

"It can't be all that bad," Emily said slowly.

"Most of the time it's not, but sometimes you make a mistake and it's...hard to see why you try so hard to make it work," Carlos said. He wasn't sure why he was even saying this. Emily was only sixteen. She didn't need to be hearing this. "I'm sorry, it's not all bad, it's just sometimes it gets hard and you have to work extra hard to make things work."

"No I get it, married couples fight," Emily said waving a hand.

"It's adult stuff though, you're a kid you don't need to be hearing all this," Carlos replied.

"Em, Carlos, you're needed on set."

"I guess that's our cue," Emily said walking over to Carlos. She held a hand out to him.

"This stays between us," Carlos said as he took her hand.

"Of course," Emily answered with a smile.

Carols thanked her. The two exited the room. They made their way out to the set where Selene and the others were waiting for them.

Carlos felt a knot form in his stomach. It wasn't like Selene had caused him and Logan to fight. Carlos was the one who kissed her. He was the reason Logan was upset. Carlos was the reason that their marriage was falling apart. Selene was just an unwitting pawn. She had no idea.

"Ok, let's just get this scene right and we can all go home for the day."

Carlos took a deep breath and rolled his shoulders. He could do this. He was an actor after all. Selene didn't need to know a thing. No one needed to know anything.

-We Are-

Adam gently rocked Kenny in his arms. He was trying to calm him down. It seemed to be working. Kenny wasn't crying anymore. He was looking around and making faces.

Kids could be a hassle at times. Miri and Kenny were a handful. Sometimes the drove Adam crazy. Miri was always getting into something or breaking something else. Kenny was always crying and pooping, it was all he knew how to do at the moment, so Adam didn't get too upset with him. However, It was the quiet moments like this that made everything worth it.

Miri was playing with her toys in the corner babbling away to herself. Kenny was quietly resting in Adam's arms. It was nice.

"Baba!"

Adam looked up from his son to his daughter. She was walking over to him with her doll in her hands. She had the head in one hand and the body in their other. Adam sighed as he stood. He placed Kenny in his bassinet and took the doll from Miri. She looked ready to cry.

"It's ok," Adam said as Kenny started wailing. Apparently he wanted to be held. Adam quickly popped the head back on the doll. He handed it back to Miri. He turned to Kenny and started to rock the bassinet. That seemed to be what he wanted. Kenny calmed down a bit.

"Baba," Miri said again. Adam looked back to her. He saw the doll on the floor. She had her arms out stretched. Adam smiled at her and scooped her up into his lap as he continued to rock Kenny.

"You're getting so big my girl," Adam cooed.

It was hard to believe that she was almost two. Her birthday wasn't too far away. A few more weeks and his baby girl would be two. Adam vaguely wondered where the time had gone. It seemed like only yesterday she was being born.

"I love you," Adam cooed at her.

"A wuv oo," Miri babbled. Adam smiled at that and kissed her on the cheek. She was too cute sometimes. He looked to Kenny with a smile.

"Love you too my baby boy," he said softly.

Soon Kenny drifted to sleep and Adam stopped rocking him. He looked down at Miri who was almost asleep as well. A smile spread across Adam's face. These two were a handful, but he wouldn't trade them for the world.

-We Are-

Jake groaned as he shifted in bed. He was tired and wanted to take a nap before Damien got home. That tasked seemed almost impossible. He couldn't get comfortable no matter how hard he tried. It seemed this baby didn't want him sleeping.

Tossing the covers aside, Jake get out of bed. He walked out to the kitchen to get a glass of water. It seemed now that he was moving the baby was content. He was no longer kicking, which kind of irritated Jake at the moment.

A knock at the door brought him from his thoughts. Jake walked over to the door and opened. It was greeted with the sight of Mason. Jake smiled and let him in.

"Sup preggers, thought I'd stop by and see what you're up to," Mason joked.

"Nothing much, this kid doesn't want me comfortable and won't let me sit for more than a few minutes before he starts kicking like mad," Jake replied. "Oh and he seems to think my bladder in a squeeze toy."

"That good huh?" Mason chuckled as he made himself at home on the couch.

"I just can't wait until he's here," Jake sighed as he sat down next to Mason.

"Yeah, then all he will do is eat, cry, poop, and sleep," Mason said making a face.

"Yeah, but you get to hold this little person that you helped create and watch them grow and learn and become someone amazing," Jake said slowly with a small smile.

"Or you could be the cool uncle that teaches you stuff your parents don't want you to know," Mason said.

"You're an uncle?" Jake asked.

"Yeah, my older sister Shana has like three kids," Mason replied. "Tanner, Conner, and Amber." He listed them off.

"Oh, Shana is the short one right?" Jake asked.

"Yes, she's like four foot ten, but claims to be 5 foot," Mason snickered. Jake laughed at that.

"Do you ever see yourself having kids?" Jake asked curiously.

"I don't know, maybe if I meet the right person," Mason shrugged.

"I've always wanted kids, not too many like two or three maybe. I can't imagine what it would be like to be an only child like Day. I love my brothers and sisters. I can't imagine a life without them, I want my kids to have that too," Jake said.

"You've put some thought into this," Mason said looking to Jake shocked. Jake blushed and looked away.

"Yeah, I've had time to think. I just hope Damien feels the same way," Jake sighed.

"He will, I'm sure of it," Mason said reassuringly.

Jake wanted to think so too. He wanted Damien to want the same things he did. Talking had never really been Damien's forte, so Jake didn't push him too. They would talk about things when the time came.

"Ok, moving on," Mason said shaking Jake from his thoughts. Jake arched a brow at him. "I need your help," he said slowly.

"Why do I feel like this won't benefit me at all?" Jake asked suspiciously.

"I kind of need a favor," Mason said slowly.

"What?" Jake asked.

"My mom is coming to town," Mason said slowly.

"And?" Jake asked.

"I need you to tell her how good I've been doing on my own. I am not going back to Minnesota. She needs to see how great I'm doing here," Mason said.

"Sure, I'd hate to see you go, you're the only one who enjoys going to Veggie Grill as much as I do," Jake said.

"One more thing," Mason said slowly.

"There's always a catch," Jake said gesturing for Mason to continue.

"I may have told her that I have a girlfriend," Mason said slowly.

"Why would you say that?" Jake asked confused.

"I thought I did at the time, she had different ideas. If I don't have a girlfriend when she gets here she'll think I'm lying about everything else, she'll try and force me to go. I don't want to go," Mason explained. "I'm not asking for you to find me the perfect girl, just do you have any single friends that might be looking for a charming boy next door type?" he asked batting his eyes playfully at Jake.

"Boy next door type?" Jake snorted with laughter. Mason glared at him. "Ok hold on a second." Jake paused in thought. He knew of one friend that might be interested.

"I've got a friend, she's cute and newly single. Maybe she might be up for a blind date this weekend," Jake said.

"Good, my mom doesn't arrive for another week and a half yet, that's plenty of time to woo her," Mason said smiling, "you know, if she agrees."

"Let me call her and I'll get back to you," Jake said. Mason nodded his head. That seemed fair enough.

-We Are-

Jared yawned as he followed the guys down the hallway. They had decided to visit Kendall now that he was out of the woods. They had hit the gift shop and run into Adam, Miri, and baby Kenny. They had bought a bunch of get well stuff for Kendall and agreed to go with Adam to see Kendall. Noah had claimed holding the baby.

"He's so adorable," Noah cooed as he gently rocked the baby in his arms.

"Not at two in the morning when he won't stop crying," Adam said.

"Oh, he's just a baby," Noah cooed. "He's so adorable and huggable." He hugged the small baby close with a big smile.

"No," Roldy said quickly shaking his head. He knew where this was heading

"What?" Noah asked confused.

"I know you Noah, just no," Roldy said.

"But-" Noah started.

"No."

"I didn't-"

"You were thinking it."

Noah opened his mouth to reply, but closed it, a sheepish smile spreading across his face. Roldy sighed and hung his head.

"Noah we don't have time for a kid right now. Just give it time," Roldy said.

"Yeah, and until then you can watch my demons-I mean children-anytime you want," Adam replied. The guys laughed at that. Noah accepted the offer.

The guys headed to Kendall's room. They stopped at the door and Adam knocked. Kendall called for them to come in.

They entered the room. Kendall was in bed watching TV while James sat next to him. The par smiled when they saw their grandkids.

"Hey dad, I brought the kids to visit, hope you don't mind," Adam said, "I also found a few strays in the hallway."

Kendall smiled and greeted them all. Miri ran up to the bed and tried to climb up. Adam helped her after Kendall said it was ok. She sat down in his lap with a big smile. Everyone found a spot to sit. The guys asked Kendall how he was feeling and told him everyone at Rocque Records was wishing him a speedy recovery.

"So what's going on then? Do you know yet?" Adam asked.

"Well, they think something might be wrong with one of the valves in my heart. They didn't get a clear picture or something to that effect. We are just waiting on the second test to come back," Kendall explained.

"So if something is wrong?" Adam asked.

"I'll need heart surgery," Kendall replied.

"Let's hope for the best then," Adam replied.

Everyone nodded their heads in agreement. They all just wanted Kendall to get better.

-We Are-

Logan sighed as he looked up at the house. He needed to go in, it was his house after all. It was his home. Strangely it didn't feel like it. It felt foreign to him.

"Are you gonna stand there all afternoon?"

Logan looked up and saw Carlos standing on the front porch. Even Carlos looked different. Logan knew that he loved the Latino, but he couldn't look at him without thinking about her. Thinking about what Carlos could've done.

"I was thinking about it," Logan replied. He slowly walked up the steps and stopped a few feet away from Carlos.

"Logan, I'm sorry," Carlos said taking a step closer to the brunette.

Logan backed up shaking his head. He wasn't ready to forgive Carlos just yet. He was still hurting.

"I didn't come here to talk," Logan said softly, "not like that anyways."

"We can work this out," Carlos pleaded with him.

"I-I think we need some time apart," Logan said clasping his hands together.

"What are you saying?" Carlos asked.

"I'm saying we need time apart. I think it will do us some good," Logan said.

"You want a divorce?" Carlos asked slowly.

"I didn't say that, I said some time apart. I just...I need time to think," Logan said.

"About what?" Carlos asked confused. "Either you forgive me or you don't. I don't see what the big deal is last time this happened-"

"It was with Kendall. He was hormonal and pregnant. It meant nothing. This was different," Logan snapped.

"It was just a kiss," Carlos said.

"You told me she made you feel like you mattered, implying that I don't make you feel like that. That's all I've ever wanted was to make you feel wanted and loved and apparently I'm not even good at that," Logan ranted.

"You are the best Logan, I just had a lapse in judgment. I made a mistake and I am really sorry," Carlos said.

"I get that, but forgiveness isn't just given, it has to be earned. So we have that condo we never use, I'll stay there for a few weeks and maybe we can get this figured out," Logan said.

"Ok then, but I will do whatever is takes to earn your forgiveness," Carlos said.

"In a couple weeks, just let me figure out if it's worth it," Logan said.

"What's worth it?"

"Us."

-We Are-

Leora yawned as she tried to keep her eyes open. She was sitting with Caleb, Jayda, Lilly, and Lucas. They were sitting together in their study hall. The day was almost over.

"I can't believe graduation is only a few weeks away," Jayda said.

"I know, it's hard to believe how fast this year went by," Lilly chimed in. She looked to Caleb.

"Way too fast," Caleb agreed.

"What are we gonna do next year?" Lucas asked looking to Leora.

"Sob uncontrollably because you miss us so much," Jayda replied.

"More like party and have fun cause it'll be our turn to rule the school," Leora retorted sticking her tongue out at Jayda.

The group laughed until their attention was caught by Miles and Kyle entering the room. They handed late passes to the teacher who gave them a suspicious look, but waved them off. Kyle and Miles headed toward the group in back.

"Where were you two?" Jayda asked, her arms crossed over her chest like a scolding mother.

"Relax mom, we were talking with Simms about out final project," Kyle said rolling his eyes at her.

"You're actually gonna turn in a final project this year?" Leora asked.

"I always do, but I'm actually putting effort into it if that's what you mean," Kyle said.

"Yeah, we even talked Simms into letting us partner up," Miles said quickly.

"So what are you guys doing," Lilly asked curiously.

"Top secret," Kyle and Miles chimed in unison. They shared a look before laughing.

"Really? You can't even tell us," Caleb asked.

"No can do," Miles said shaking his head.

"So, prom is this weekend," Kyle said changing the subject.

"Really? You want to go there?" Lilly asked eyeing him playfully.

"It's been a year, get over it," Kyle rolled his eyes. "Honestly I'd rather not go, but for some reason everyone seems to think I'd make a good prom king."

"Dude you're dating a celebrity, everyone thinks you're cool," Miles said.

"Dude I'm freaking awesome, but that's beside the point," Kyle said.

"They won't let you bring Jared will they?" Lucas asked knowingly.

"No, I guess you can't bring Artie either," Kyle asked.

"Yep, he's not enrolled in school since he's homeschooled," Lucas replied.

"Yeah and apparently they can't be older than eighteen," Kyle replied.

"Come on, it's not that bad," Miles said, "you, me, and Lu could go together."

-We Are-

Matt, yawned as he watched Noah, and Roldy bicker. They we're sitting in the apartment together hanging out. They had come here after visiting with Kendall for awhile. Jared had taken off to go talk to Artie. He was being real secretive, but the guys let it go. They had a more pressing topic to discuss.

"Why can't we have one?" Noah asked pouting.

"Noah you can't be serious right now," Roldy said shaking his head.

They were still arguing about having a baby. Noah seemed to have baby fever, especially since everyone around him was having babies. Roldy was still against the idea.

"But Roldy, babies are so cute and adorable," Noah said.

"Yeah and they are also a big responsibility and need a lot of attention and care. You can't just have a baby because you think they're cute," Roldy said reasonably.

"I know that, I just meant...I want one," Noah whined.

"We will, someday," Roldy promised. "It's just right now isn't a good time. We are so busy and a baby would complicate things."

Noah sighed in defeat. He knew Roldy was right. A baby would complicate things. They didn't need that right now. As much as it pained Noah, he could wait. Good things came to those who wait, right?

"Are you two done?" Matt asked looking up from his phone. The pair jumped startled and looked to the kitchen where Matt was sitting.

"Matty, I forgot you were even here," Roldy admitted. Noah nodded his head in agreement.

"Yeah, I figured," Matt replied, "but Noah just remember Jared's about to have like a step-kid or something to that effect. I'm sure you will get your fill of baby there."

"Yes, and Adam said you could watch his kids too," Roldy said. Noah smiled at that.

"Ok I guess I can wait then," Noah said.

The apartment door opened and Jared entered. He had his cell phone pressed to his ear and looked annoyed.

"Will you stop it, you've only-" Jared started. He sighed. "Jackie, no Jackie, list- Jackie," he repeated that a few times. Jared sighed and dropped his phone to his side.

"What's he want now?" Roldy asked.

"I don't know, he's talking about wanting to move out and stay with me, only until college starts, but he doesn't have a job or even a way to pay for college. He's being a real best about it too," Jared sighed.

"Again?" Noah asked.

"Apparently he feels the same as I do about our parents," Jared sighed. He lifted his phone to his ear and started towards his bedroom trying to get Jackie's attention.

"Again? Has Jackie been bugging him?" Matt asked.

"Once before he had a meltdown over Todd banning him from dating some girl who was no good for him, or something to that effect," Roldy explained.

"Kids man," Matt sighed.

"That kid just turned eighteen a few weeks ago," Roldy reminded Matt.

"Man they grow up so fast, soon Carly and Jill will be in high school," Matt said.

"Don't even go there, once that happens we will really be old," Noah said causing the other two to laugh at him.

So there you go another chapter done. I have changed my mind and decided to do one more chapter and make it an even fifty chapter.

Will Kendall be alright? Will he need surgery? Jake is scared Damien might not want more kids. Will he talk to Damien? Does Damien feel the same as Jake does? Will Jake find a girl for Mason? Oh no Logan isn't ready to forgive Carlos? Can Carlos earn his forgiveness? Is a divorce on the horizon for these two? Or can they work this out? Will Noah's baby fever pass? Will Kyle go to prom? Will he find a date? All this and more in the next chapter.

See ya next time and I love you all. Virtual hugs and kisses to all who read this!
