Dante had been very specific when they started having sex that Kyrie had to be diligent about making sure she was clean afterwards.

One reason being to prevent any unexpected 'critters' from entering their lives, as he had put it. The most important reason however, that he had stressed to her, was so that no one would know that they were together.

Demons and devils had a very acute sense of smell. The reason why they all clamored for Dante's head on a pike was because of his father, many demons and devils saw sparda as a traitor for sealing off the human world from them.

Kyrie knew after she had been living with Dante for some time that his fears were justified. She couldn't count how many times a devil had come after her for the reason being they sensed she had been around Dante.

Now that they were intimate she could only imagine the frenzy that would follow if one of them could smell that they were having sex.

The night before Lady and Trish had been over for drinks and cards. It wasn't often that Dante actually let loose and drank more than he should but it happened, Dante got drunk and when Dante was drunk everyone was fair game to him.

Flirting came naturally to Dante. Not only did he enjoy it but he used it to his advantage either to disarm people or make light of a situation. When he drank that kicked into overdrive.

Kyrie couldn't help but laugh as Lady and Trish practically begged her to call him off of them. She quipped back asking what they had done before she was around, of course they both said shoot him in the head.

It got to a point where the two females decided to call it a night and Kyrie managed to coax Dante upstairs. Generally Dante had excellent stamina but in his state of inebriation he had super human stamina.

Kyrie was surprised in her ability to keep up with him for the most part. She lost count somewhere between the sixth and eighth round of love making to bother keeping track anymore.

After Dante had settled down she had passed out shorty after. The shrill ring of the phone woke her up. Groggily she reached for the cordless with out even opening her eyes.

"Devil May Cry." She managed out trying not to sound as if she were not sound asleep a moment before. There were a few demons only a block away. Kyrie glanced over at Dante who was still dead to the world. "Give me twenty minutes."

She hung up the phone and untangled herself from the man next to her. He whimpered softly in his sleep as she shifted her weight. "Big baby." She chided gently laying a kiss against his forehead.

She jumped in the shower closing her eyes enjoying the hot water. She washed in a few minutes and was stepping out. Kyrie dressed fast in a pair of jeans and long sleeve shirt before tying her long hair up in a bun.

One last glance into the bedroom to reveal that Dante had barely moved. She smirked to herself and was out the door. She heard the commotion as soon as she walked outside. Kyrie jogged in the direction of the sound already seeing the portal that had been ripped open.

From her view point she could make out three devils, they were of a species she had seen before. They hadn't caused her any trouble. She figured she could take care of them and be back to cook Dante breakfast before he knew she was gone.

As she advanced towards them however they turned in her direction immediately. The hollows where eyes should have been shone red. They pierced through her as a blue aura surrounded them.

Kyrie stopped dead in her tracks eyeing them warily. From above her she heard screeching coming from the portal, more were coming. She glanced up in time to see demons spill out of the opening.

With weapons ready they aimed straight for her. They too had a blue aura around them that she had never seen before. In a swift movement she rolled out of the way unholstering Red Rose and fired rapidly.

She aimed for the devils that generally were taken out by one round from the double chamber but there was no change in them, if anything she made them angrier.

She parried with Blue Princess and swore she hit her mark more than once but none of them seemed to barely flinch. It didn't take long for her to start to feel the nights exertions catching up with her.

Kyrie felt her body become tired as more devils came through all wanting to rip her to shreds. She was able to get away from the group and turned tail. She bolted for the shop berating herself the entire way.

With each step she took she heard the creatures behind her, very close behind her. As she bounded up the concrete steps and she reached for double doors. In a moment she flung them open.

She held the door with her weight against it digging in her heels. She opened her mouth to yell for Dante only to have him there in a split second.

"I told you you had to clean up!" Dante shouted at her.

"I did!" Kyrie countered. Dante had already set about the task of sniffing around her. He stopped grabbing at her hair.

"Hold still." He said simply and had her hair in his hand. Kyrie reached up to her neck feeling her head lighter. Dante had cut her hair right above her shoulders. "Stay here. I'll take care of it."

With out another word Dante opened the door firing Ebony and Ivory. The doors slammed shut sealed from the outside with magic seals. It would keep them out.

Kyrie stood still somewhat confused as to what happened exactly. The shop was quiet, she didn't remember a time when it was so eerie.

The neon shop logo popped and fizzled as the tubing snapped. It brought Kyrie out of her stupor.

"Dante." She called out rushing out the doors. She ran into the street listening to any noise that might indicate where he had led them.

Kyrie swallowed hard heading back in the direction the portal was. A flash of white down an alley stopped her. She opened her mouth only to shut it quickly.

She watched as the man swung his sword around and fired with his gun. The weapons were unmistakable as was his fighting style. It was surreal.

She was certain that it was a trick, maybe she had hit her head or was being caught up in a hallucination, but the more she watched the more certain she became.

"Beat it!" He said with out glancing in her direction. "This place isn't safe for humans."

Kyrie stood still her eyes going wide at the sound of his voice. It was almost the same as she remembered, he had aged as she had over the last few years but it was him none the less.

He brought out his devil bringer effectively taking out the demons he had been fighting as he grabbed one and smashed it into the others. They dissipated into smoke.

"I said to move your a..." The man said turning around quickly. His mouth closed abruptly as the words died in his throat. He squinted his eyes as if he wasn't sure of them. "Kyrie?"

As he took a step forward she took a step back. It was a dream. She was still in bed sleeping in Dante's arms. He didn't belong there, not now.

"Nero." She managed out softly.

"I went home to Fortuna but you were gone." He said. "Why did you leave?" He asked taking another step towards her.

"Why would I stay?" She said as if the answer were obvious. "You left."

"Yeah but I mean, I didn't expect you to up and take off." Nero remarked.

"Maybe you expected to little of me then." Kyrie replied.

"Kyrie. I've been looking for you." He said softly still advancing closer to where she stood.

"What? Why?" She asked confused. She felt her eyes lower to slits as she took a few more blind steps back.

"Why wouldn't I?" He asked back.

"You told me it was over! You said for me to move on!" Kyrie shouted at him. "And you know what Nero? It wasn't easy. I wandered around for months looking for you...praying I would find you but I didn't."

"Kyrie please...let me explain..." He said only to be cut off.

"Shut up Nero!" She yelled. "You don't get to talk! I do! I don't care what you have to say because I moved on! It hurt and it was awful but I'm happy!"

Dante heard Kyrie's voice travel on the wind as he finished up the rest of the demons. He felt his heart sink as he rushed over to where he saw Kyrie standing.

The kid was older, a little shorter than him and more lithe. Kyrie's body shook with rage. Dante himself felt a darkness take over from the inside out. His inner devil did not want the kid talking to his Kyrie.

He swallowed it down securing his mask into place. He holstered his guns and sheathed Rebellion. It was only then he made his presence known.

"Hey kid!" He said loudly. "If I knew you were coming I would'a baked a cake."

"Dante?" Nero asked cautiously.

"Long time no see." He replied with a nod. Dante walked over to Kyrie blocking her from Nero's view. "You okay sweetie?"

"Yes. I'm alright." Kyrie said taking a deep breath. "I was worried about you."

"Nah, you know I'm good. Sorry about the hack job." He said taking her shorter strands between his fingers.

"It's fine Dante." She said letting go of the anger she had felt. Dante was there, it was alright again.

"I do have to say that I like it, real sexy." He said with a mischievous smirk.

"I still don't understand why you cut it." She said.

"You didn't wash your hair." Dante said. "You had some, uh remnants of last night in it."

"Well I could have washed it. The seals were in place to keep the devils out." She said placing her hands on her hips scolding him gently.

"They wouldn't have held for long. Took less time to get rid of it. I led them away from you." He replied.

"I'm sorry Dante. I didn't even realize it." She said taking his hand in hers and squeezing.

"It's fine honey just try to be more careful." He said. "I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to you."

"What the hell?" Nero said watching their exchange. Dante turned back around. The kid was pissed...good.

"Hey, forgot you were there." Dante said. Kyrie walked in front of him slightly calmer then she had been.

"Nero I moved on. It wasn't easy and it hurt but I did. I'm happy now." She repeated.

"With him? You're with Dante?" He asked as if he couldn't believe it.

"Yes." She said simply.

"Kyrie, I left to protect you. I didn't have a choice." Nero said his voice wavering. "I was always going to go back to you I just didn't know when that would be. I-I couldn't tell you because I didn't want you to be in danger."

"Nero." Kyrie said shaking her head from side to side in disbelief. She placed her hand behind her seeking out Dante only to find empty air. She turned on her heel quickly to see that he had left. "No."

Kyrie ran towards the office pushing open the doors to Dante who sat at his desk with his feet propped up and leaning back in his chair. "Why did you leave?"

"Seemed like you and the kid were about to have an intimate moment." He said with no humor in his tone. "Didn't want to ruin it."

"Are you kidding me?" Kyrie asked irritated. Dante kept his eyes trained on her as she seethed with rage.

"Look sweetheart, there are obviously some things that you need to clear with him so I don't want to muck that up for you." He replied.

"Muck what up exactly?" She asked cocking a brow up at him. Dante didn't reply he simply grabbed a magazine from his desk drawer and opened it. Kyrie stood incredious.

"Dante I don't want Nero." She said. "For all I care he can apologize until he's blue in the face. He had his chance."

"Maybe he deserves another one." Dante replied. Kyrie felt her heart sink. Why was he acting like this?

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" She demanded. "You told me you care about me, that you have feelings for me. Now the first small bump in the road pops up and you're ready to abandon me!"

Dante glanced up at her from over his magazine putting it down. He stood up and ran a hand through his hair groaning. He was irritated.

"Look Kyrie, the kid made a mistake but his heart was in the right place." He said. "I'm not going to lie to you, there have been plenty of times since we met up that I've wondered why the hell he'd leave you. Now I know, he still cares about you." Kyrie only shook her head at him. "Hear me out will ya? Listen to your elders, go off with him and have the kids you were supposed to have with him and have a good life."

"And what happens when something else comes up that he feels he has to chase me away? What do I do then when I have a kid or two?" She asked. "What then?"

Dante remained quiet. He didn't know but he did know, what he had known for a while, that Kyrie didn't belong with him. Someone like him didn't deserve her. "Dante, don't do this to me." She pleaded.

With out another word Dante turned around as if to walk away from her. Kyrie felt as if she were going to vomit. She became dizzy and felt disoriented. This wasn't going to happen to her, she cared to much for Dante to let him leave because he thought it was what she needed.

Kyrie rushed him wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him down closer to her. She grasped his lips in a kiss forcefully trying to relay to him that he was the only one she wanted.

Dante didn't respond. He didn't kiss her back or hold her. He simply let her kiss him. Kyrie let go of him and gasped. He was crying. Tears flowed down his cheeks as he stood staring down at her.

"Dante, my Dante." She said softy bringing the back of her hand to his cheek. She wiped his tears and wrapped her arms around his middle resting her head against his chest. "You're the one I want to be with."

"Kyrie. Kyrie." Dante said gently finally wrapping his arms around her.
