Yami's POV

The next morning, Yugi and I headed towards Domino square. "This is it….the start of Battle city."

"I know we'll get your memories back Yami…" Yugi smiled. I nodded. "Your right Yugi… we got this." We waited for Jonouchi who was nowhere in sight. "Where could…"

"HEY YOU CREEP I FINALLY FOUND YOU!" that was Jonouhci's voice. I ran over and saw Jonouchi confronting a man with gray spiked hair. "Jonouchi where were you…"

"Yami be on your guard! There are rare hunters in this tournament!" I glared at the man. "Jonouchi…did he take your rare card?"

"Yes." This pissed me off. I stepped up and glared at the rare hunter. "I'll fight him." Jonouchi gasped. "Whoa hold on Yami…this guy is serious." But I didn't listen. The rare hunter got up and smirked. "So the famous Yugi Motou wants to fight against a rare hunter? How funny."

"I don't take kindly to those who would steal another duelist's most precious cards. Then again…you're no real duelist now are you."

"You doubt my skills?" I rolled my eyes and got my duel disk ready. "Yes I do…so now I'll clean up this city of trash like you." The Rare hunter walked up to me with his duel disk ready. "We rare hunters will get all the rare cards from this tournament, so if anyone is going to get a beat down its you, goth punk."

"Oh yea? Then prove it, caped freak." I noticed that a crowd was forming. Looking at the clock, it was close to the start of the tournament. Nine o'clock stuck and we started our duel. "DUEL!"

Yami Yugi: 4000

Rare hunter: 4000

"Yami wait…this guy has…"I glared at Jonouchi. "Whoa…don't finish that thought Jonouchi."

"But Yami this guy is…" I smirked. "Jonouchi…do you doubt my abilities?" Jonouchi shook his head. "No but…"

"Jonouchi…let me fight this man fairly…I'll figure out his strategy, if I knew his deck that would give me an unfair advantage." Jonouchi nodded. "Okay Yami…just be careful." It was my first move so I drew five cards. "I set one card face down and then I summon Gazelle King of Mythical beast to the field in attack mode. My turn is over."

"Alright…in the offensive right out of the gate. I activate graceful charity! This give me three cards but I must discard two." I narrowed my eyes. "Did he have a bad hand? Why would he activate a card to replenish his hand?"

"Next I summon Stone statue of the Aztecs in defense mode, I end my turn." I glared at the man, this was a defensive style. To get to his life points…I needed to get past his defenses. "Fine…I summon Baphomet onto the field. Then I play polymerization to fuse together my monsters to bring forth, Chimara the flying mythical beast!" I was ready to attack. "Yami wait!"

"What is it Yugi?"

"Remember the expert rules are different than in the standard rules."

"Oh yea…thanks for catching me on that." I turned my attentions to the rare hunter. "Luckily for you I can't attack you on this turn."

"ha ha…then it is my turn…I activate another graceful charity card. Then I summon Gear Golem the moving fortress in defense mode." I frowned. How the hell was he supposed to beat me if he doesn't even try to attack me? By shuffling his hand? Then it clicked. "I get it…"

"Ha there is no way you kno…"

"You are trying to summon Exodia…I won't let you summon him that easily." Jonouchi smirked and the rare hunter just looked shocked. "H…How did you?"

"Don't question my intuition…just know that I will beat you with this deck!" I drew a card and smirked. "Watch as I tear up your Exodia deck. I set one card face down and attack your statue of the Aztecs!" for my plan to work I had to wait for the right moment. "I end my turn." Come on… "I dra…" Now! "I activate my spell card! Lightforce sword! Now I will randomly attack one of your cards from your hand."

"NO!" the sword pinned down his card which turned out to be Exodia's right hand. "You little brat!" I smirked, time to rub the salt in the fresh wound. "That is not all…once Exodia's hand touches the field, it causes my trap card to activate…chain destruction. This card destroys all cards that are the same as the one on the field which means Exodia can't rise." I glared. "Your deck is dead Rare hunter! You lose!"

Yami Yugi: 4000

Rare hunter: 0 (surrender)

Just then the rare hunter started to scream in pain. "AHH! HE COME! COMEING! NO I'M SORRY MASTER!" the skin on his forehead started to bulge into the shape of the millennium eye symbol. I backed up. "Yami are you doing that?" Jonouchi asked worriedly. "No…no I'm not!?" I said in shock. "LORD MARIK!"

"Marik?" the man fell limp. "Ha ha ha…hello pharaoh." I glared. This was not the man I was facing off a little bit ago…this was someone else, someone stronger. "Who are you?"

"We haven't been properly introduced. It's nice to meet you…Pharaoh Yami." The man walked up to me and smirked. "You have a confuse look as to how I am talking to you right here, right now. To put it simply, I am controlling this man mind right now." The man reached out at my face. I narrowed my eyes. "You didn't answer my question. Who are you?"

"Marik Ishtar…remember it well." I backed up. "What are you after Marik?"

"I am after the god cards of course and your power." I just shook my head. "You want my power and these god cards? What is this some sort of world domination plan?"

"No…just vengeance for my fate. Oh yes I almost forgot, as per the ante rules I will give you your friend's Red eyes black dragon and the puzzle card." I took the card and glared. "Something tells me you own the last of the millennium items right."

"You're smarter than you look Pharaoh but even with all that skill…you can't beat me. I have two of the god cards and one of the owners is already in town. If you run into him…you'll die." I smirked. "Then I'll have to be extra careful then. Then I will stop your plans for power."

"Keep thinking that Pharaoh…it'll make your death that much more satisfying." With that the rare hunter collapsed. I looked over at Jonouchi and offer his card. "Here Jonouchi…" Jonouchi paused. "I can't take that Yami."

"But Jonouchi…" Jonouchi smirked. "You taught me that I must have pride in being a duelist…if I were to take that now…where would my pride be? I want to be a true duelist like you and Yugi. So hold on to that card…I'll fight you for it in a duel when I'm ready. Until then…I will fight for that right." I blushed at Jonouhci's words. Then I smiled. "Of course Jonouchi…I can't wait to duel you as a true duelist." Jonouchi smirked. "Awesome!" he ran off. "Alright world, I'll take one any duelist! Just bring it on!" I laughed. With those words…I went ahead and slipped his card into my card holster.
