Kyrie walked out of the dressing room hitching up the many layers of the wedding dress she was currently trying on. She wasn't sure how many she had already put on as the pile continued to grow as Patty, Trish and Lady, but mostly Patty, added more.
"That ones not right on you." Lady said examining it from all sides. "There's too much floof to it."
"Yeah I'm not sure about this one." She agreed.
"What's wrong with it?" Patty asked. "You look adorable."
"It's just not my style." Kyrie replied glancing in the mirrors taking herself in from all angles.
"Here Kyrie, try this one on." Trish offered holding up an elegant gown. Kyrie grasped it from her running her hands over the silky material.
Once she managed to finagle her way out of the many layers of tulle she was wrapped in she slipped on the dress Trish had found.
It was simple with the neck cut into a defined V shape and the gown flaying out at the bottom to rest around her feet on the floor.
The skirt had some bounce to it but not like the other dresses she had tried on. The material was smooth and pinched in places to create a ruffled appearance.
She exited the dressing room, for what felt like the hundredth time that day, and stopped in front of her friends.
"I like this one." She said getting their attention.
"Oh!" Patty exclaimed her arms tightening around her daughter as she held her.
"That's much better." Trish said spinning her around slightly.
"I agree." Lady stared nodding in approval. "It shows off your curves."
"And that's a good thing on my wedding day?" She questioned smiling.
"It will make Dante happy." Trish said.
"So remember what we told you, he can't see you in the dress until the wedding." Patty said. "Otherwise it's bad luck."
"After everything we've been through the last few years I think we could survive a little bad luck." Kyrie quipped turning slightly looking at her reflection.
"Why are you dragging me into this place old man?" Nero asked uncomfortably.
"Cause if I have to wear a suit or something along those lines I'll be damned if I'm the only one." He replied.
"Wait." Nero interjected. "Who said I have to wear one! I'm not getting married!"
"I have too, you have too" Dante said pointing his finger at him for emphasis. "Besides, where I go its tailor made so get something nice enough and you can wear it to your wedding."
"Who said anything about me getting married?" Nero questioned defensively.
"Judging how Patty is, it won't be much longer." He replied. "This is the place." They entered the shop that was stacked with different types of material.
Dress maker dolls stood with cloth and paper pinned to them at different angles. Dante sauntered in further glancing around. "Hey Ang!"
"Hold your damn horses!" A woman's voice called out from somewhere. "Like I'm your slave."
"Come on kid!" He called out. "I've got a special request."
"When don't you?" The woman said entering the front of her shop. "It's always something with you."
"That's why I've been your best customer all these years." He stated grinning.
"No." She corrected. "You were my parents customer and I inherited you by default."
"Same difference." He said with a shrug.
"So what is it this time?" She asked with a sigh. "Your gaudy ass red jacket need to be fixed again?"
"Nope, not at the moment." He replied. "I need a suit."
"A...suit?" She cocked a brow at him curiously.
"Yup." He said. "I'm gettin' married."
"You? Are?" She asked slowly.
"Yeah." He smirked.
"My parents are rolling in their graves." She replied. "You found someone who wants to marry you? Poor girl."
"Well to be fair she used to be with him." Dante said pointing his thumb st Nero.
"You stole his girlfriend?" She asked looking at the younger man. "And you are...?"
"Nero." He introduced. "I'm his nephew."
"You took your nephews girlfriend?!" She stared wide eyed. "And you're okay with that...Nero?"
"Yeah I moved on." He said with a shrug.
"Okay then...I really don't want to know any more." She relented. "What are you thinking for the suit?"
"You know my taste, what my style is." Dante said. "I trust you to make something appropriate. Oh and he's gonna need one too."
"Let me just go grab the tape to get his measurements." She said walking towards the back of his shop.
"You know, I never really realized how screwed up our family dynamic is until now." Nero said.
"Screwed up? Nah kid, we put the fun in dysfunctional." Dante said laughing a little.
The day before the wedding the women all but whisked Kyrie away from Devil May Cry for her bridal shower where as Nero and Dante hit up Love Planet.
Nero couldn't help but be amazed at the fact of how well known Dante was in that particular establishment and secondly how many disappointed women he made that night when he told them he was getting married.
The hotel that the ladies had booked was extravagant with spa treatments and massages. The suite they stayed in was larger than what Kyrie was accustomed to and well furnished.
She coddled and tickled Nina allowing Patty some down time. Playing with the baby helped settle her nerves some about the next day.
The next morning they all woke up early. It wasn't going to be a big affair, a justice of the peace was going to meet them at the hall they had rented out and as a gift their friends had chipped in for a wedding cake and small caterer.
Trish and Patty fixed her hair in a rope braid around her head winding baby's breath and small pearls into the braid. Lady dusted her face lightly with cosmetics bringing out her color a bit more.
Lady had arranged for a town car to pick them up and take them in style. Kyrie fidgeted in her seat and swallowed hard more than necessary.
She wrung her hands listening the the baby coo in her car seat next to her as her mother tended to her. Kyrie glanced from her friend to the window and back again.
They were all dressed nice for the occasion but still somewhat casual leaving her to feel slightly over dressed but they had insisted she wear the dress, it was after all her wedding day.
She had glanced in the mirror before they left the hotel and had been slightly shocked to see the beautiful woman staring regally back at her.
Kyrie didn't understand why she was so nervous to begin with. They had been together for over two years already, nearly three. They were mates and it wasn't as if their relationship hadn't been consummated who knew how many times.
Still she felt her breath hitch as the car stopped in front of the building. Dante's car was there along with Nero's motorcycle, there were already there.
She pressed her head against the rest and bounced her skull against it lightly in a soothing manner. The door was opened for her and she hitched up her skirt to step out with Trish and Lady helping her to gather the material.
"You can breathe you know." Lady said.
"I'm nervous, why am I nervous?" She asked the other women.
"If you weren't then there would be something wrong with you." Patty quipped grabbing out the car seat and holding it by the handle.
"Just relax. Everything will be fine." Trish said. "We've got this."
"Yeah...we do." Kyrie said with a nod.
"Christ old man!" Nero said grabbing the shot glass from him. "Chill out on the drinks!"
"Hey! That's mine!" Dante protested trying to grab it away from him.
"Are you trying to get tanked before Kyrie gets here?" He argued.
"No it's just I'm...a little nervous." He relented with a sigh. "This is a big change. I mean we've been together a while and we're mated but that was something we did in private. This well now everyone's gonna know."
"You two love each other, you want to make sure that nothing comes between that." Nero replied. "Nothing wrong with that. Besides I'm around, so if you screw up I'll just have to kick your ass."
Dante smirked at the younger male and smacked him on the shoulder companionably. He wouldn't voice it, at least not until he had more alcohol, but in Nero he saw the type of relationship he had wished he could have shared with Vergil.
At least his brother had done one thing right in his life by Dante, even if Nero had been an accident he was grateful for his nephew.
The justice showed up shortly afterwards and commented on the decorum, from the looks of it it was Patty's handiwork.
Not to long afterwards the caterers showed up along with the cake. It was only two tiers but was still larger and fancier than any baked good either man had seen.
The doors opened once again which brought in Patty with Nina. Nero grabbed the car seat from her placing it on the floor and un strapped his daughter from it taking her out.
"Kyrie's waiting outside." She said. "I wanted to make sure everything was all set before she came in."
"Yeah I think we're good." Nero said cradling the baby in the crook of his arm as he looked to Dante. The elder hunter blew out a puff of air downing his shot that Nero had left on the bar counter.
"Yup. We're good." He said with a nod. Patty smiled widely rushing towards the door to let them know. Dante and Nero walked to the front where a white arch had been placed adorned with white lights and what looked like Lilly's.
Dante closed his eyes taking deep breaths as he suddenly felt the urge to bolt. He smirked as he suppressed the fight or flight sensation that he generally acted on.
Kyrie walked through the doors that Patty held open as Trish and Lady let down her dress allowing it to sweep her feet. Patty handed her a small bouquet made up of red and white roses.
She felt her hands grip it tightly as she closed her eyes taking a deep breath. She wanted nothing more than to run at that moment. She shook her head at the fight or flight sensation that she had become accustomed to acting on.
"Go ahead Kyrie." Lady coaxed. "Your grooms waiting for you." With a nod she opened her eyes and turned around the small corner taking in Dante at the other end of the room.
Pretty white lights hung from the rafters creating a soft atmosphere around her as the aroma of flowers floated around. Her eyes fell to Dante standing in a black suit with a red tailored shirt underneath.
"Dante, Kyrie." Nero said simply causing the elder hunter to open his eyes. He breathed out softly as he took her in. She carried a bouquet of roses with her hair pulled back and adorned with flowers.
Her gown seemed fluid as if it were a second skin as she moved closer to him with eyes only for him. He felt the smile spread across his face as she blushed slightly stopping next to him.
"Hey honey." He greeted.
"Hello my Dante." She said as she handed her bouquet over to Trish and took Dante's hand in hers.
"Friends and family. We have come together today to see the unity of this man and woman join in matrimony." The justice began. "If there is anyone here who contends this union speak now or forever hold your peace."
"I have been told that the bride and groom have written their own vows to recite to one another so when ever you're ready."
"You want to go first?" Kyrie asked softly.
"Oh no, by all means...ladies first." Dante said.
"Okay. Well, I didn't write anything to say. I don't know what there really is to say except that I love you." Kyrie said. "We've been through hell already, a few times, we've been through sickness and health, good times and bad...and it's only made me love you more in the end...when everything's alright again."
"I want to spend my life with you. I want to have children with you and I want you to know that if I were to die right here, right now I would die happy because I know you love me." She concluded blushing deeply.
"Kyrie, I gave up such a long time ago. You completely blind sided me, I mean you found me when no one else was looking. Some days I just wonder how we found each other." Dante said.
"I don't know if it was fate or just a series of fortunate mishaps that brought you my way but I am so grateful that, what ever it was, it did bring you to me. You've made me a better person, you've seen me at my strongest and my weakest and you still just look at me with such admiration most days that it makes me love you even more."
"With that being said, the rings please." The justice stated. Nero reached into his pocket with his human hand taking out the two gold bands handing them to Dante. He gave one to Kyrie as he placed hers gently on her finger with out pushing it on.
"With this ring I be wed. I will love, honor, and cherish you...in sickness and in health for as long as I am breathing and then some." Dante said pushing it the rest of the way on her ring finger.
Kyrie placed his ring against his finger as well taking a deep breath. "With this ring I be wed. I will love, honor and cherish you in sickness and in health my Dante for as long as I live." She said pushing it down the rest of the way.
"Those who have been unified today let no man..." Nero leaned in to the justice whispering something and received an odd glance. Nero nodded his head affirmatively before the justice continued. "Or devil put asunder. You may now kiss your bride."
Dante wrapped his arms around Kyrie's waist as she draped hers around his shoulders as he lifted her up slightly to meet him. Their lips met lightly and it had never felt so good as it did in that moment.
