"Where are we going to put it?" Dante asked quietly. He laid next to Kyrie with an ear turned to her stomach trying to detect any sounds in her womb.

"The baby?" She questioned back just as soft.

"Yeah. Kind of cramped in here as is with just us." He replied.

"You're just thinking of this now?" She asked.

"Well I mean before it's been a fleeting thought but now it's a legitimate concern." He stated.

"There's still such a long way to go Dante." She soothed. "I'm sure we'll figure it out."

"Yeah, I guess." He relented with a sigh. She ran a hand through his hair ruffling it slightly when the double doors in the office slammed open.

"Dante! Dante!" Patty yelled frantically as Nina's wails drifted up the stairs. Dante nearly vaulted from the bed pulling on a pair of jeans quickly with Kyrie close behind him.

"Patty...what's the matter?" He more demanded than asked as he jumped down from the upstairs to the shop.

"Nero, he needs help." She said her voice choking off as she was nearly in tears. "This devil showed up, a female...she said that she was his mother. She...she tried to take Nina."

Dante already had his holsters secured as he tugged on his jacket grabbing Rebellion and securing it to his back.

"Stay here." He commanded the women and was out the door in the blink of an eye. Kyrie placed her hands on her friends shoulders receiving a startled jump.

"Come on, let's sit." She offered guiding her to the couch. Patty sat down allowing Kyrie to take Nina from her. The small girl was not having any of it however and reached back for her mother.

She wrapped her arms around her neck snugly as Patty buried her face into her daughters short baby hair and let out a sob. "It will be alright. Dante will help Nero."

"That woman...what ever she was...she just came in."

Patty walked through the door with her arms loaded with bags. "A little help here."

"I didn't tell you to go out and buy a bunch of crap." Nero stated smirking. He sat on the floor of the small living room watching his daughter toddle around.

"It's not crap!" She said haughtily. "They are clothes for your child."

"Oh yeah because she definitely is lacking in that department." He quipped. His bringer began to glow brightly and pulse. Similarly Patty's pendant let off its own surge of energy.

The air in the apartment became heavy and turned to a static that enveloped them causing their hair to nearly stand on end. Nina began to scream as the feeling only worsened as the seconds ticked by.

Nero grabbed his daughter quickly handing her off to Patty. She took her from him as he led her to their bedroom where he kept Red Queen and Blue Rose hidden.

He opened the window to the fire escape heading out before Patty followed him. She secured Nina in her arm as she wrapped her other around Nero's shoulders before he leapt down to the pavement below.

"Nero are you alright?" She asked as he gritted his teeth and groaned on the impact.

"I'm fine." He replied. "Let me get your keys. We can take the bike."

"I left them upstairs." She said. "On the table."

"Shit." He swore grasping her around the shoulders with his arm as if to shield them from any harm. "Come on."

As they exited the alley way and snuck down another in the dark of night Nero's bringer glowed more brightly as Patty's pendant nearly crackled with energy as if the two were in competition with one another.

They were with in two blocks of Devil May Cry when a veil seemed to black out their surroundings. Nero placed his arm in front of Patty as he took out Blue Rose. The couple whipped their heads from side to side trying to make sense of the demonic energy that had suddenly cloaked around them.

"You are the devil known as Nero, son of Vergil, descendant of Sparda." A feminine voice rang out seemingly from all around them.

"Well that's not fair, I don't know you." He quipped. "Why don't you come out and face us."

The darkness swirled away from them before converging in a single spot in front of them to form a shape before becoming a figure. The devil stood before them resembling a human in the vaguest sense.

She exuded darkness as it came off of her in waves. What would have been hair was onyx smokey tendrils that wisped around her before dissipating into the night.

Patty glared at her as the woman stared at them with black eyes and offered what normally would be a smirk.

"I've been searching for you, my son." The devil said.

"Is that so?" He questioned mockingly. "Well I'm gonna have to cut this meeting short."

"Please." She said as if he were pathetic. "While you do share my blood as well as the blood of Sparda you are still partially human, thus you are weak."

"Nero." Patty whispered warily clutching her child closer to her.

"It isn't your fault however, being raised with humans and such." The female continued on. "While that was a mistake I have attempted to remedy I can see I am too late. You are too tainted by them."

In a flash Nero struck out with the ghostly apparition of his devil bringer only to have the devil grasp it and fling him into the side of the building next to them. "How disappointing. I had hoped that Vergil would give me a stronger heir."

"Screw you!" Patty shouted at her spitting on the ground in front of her.

"Now, now...no need to be crass." She stated advancing towards her as if she were gliding across the ground. The darkness enveloped her again. She felt as if her daughter were being pulled from her arms causing her to screech in anger.

Her pendant shot out its own energy as if combating with the she devil. She forced her way through the shroud as the female let out a screech of her own in pain. Patty felt her feet pounding the asphalt as she ran towards the shop knowing that the elder hunter would save them just as he always did.

"What if Dante can't help though." She whispered staring straight ahead of her. "Kyrie, what if I just sent Dante into a trap."

"He can handle it." She replied. "Have faith in them Patty."

"I just don't know what I'd do with out them." Patty said.

"You worry too much." She stated. "Go upstairs and lay down with Nina so she can settle. Then we can talk if you like."

"Okay." She agreed and stood up. "Thanks Kyrie." She waited until she heard her friend settle and the only sound was Ninas small whimpers.

Kyrie walked over to the door glancing out the windows trying to see if there was any sign of Dante or Nero. She knew Dante could aid Nero and take care of the issue at hand but still...

She placed a hand to her stomach lightly feeling worry grow in her gut. She walked over to her husbands desk shaking her head slightly as she sat down in his chair and rested her head against the desk.

Her eyes closed heavily as she felt a sudden weariness take hold of her as if she were being enveloped in darkness. It pervaded her mind and settled around her as she lost consciousness.
