Dante slammed the door to the shop closed and moved quickly. It was easy to figure out which direction to go given the immense demonic energy that was culminating.
He could hear Nero's enraged battle cry as he triggered causing Dante's own devil to spark and flare with in him. As he rounded the alley corner he saw the vague figure as it flitted in and out of view.
"Well now." The shade stared taking on a more corporal form. "If it isn't the youngest son of Sparda."
"The pleasures mine." Dante mocked.
"I have been waiting a long time to meet you." The she devil stated. Nero stood up from his half kneeling position groaning.
"Hey!" He shouted. "You leave Dante out of this. Your fights with me."
"Impudent children." She said not paying much mind to him.
"Don't I know it." Dante replied with a smirk. "Now, here's the deal babe. You can either leave on your own or the kid and I are gonna send you packing back to hell. Your choice."
"I will get what I came for." The devil stated as her aura flared back up. Dante took on a more defensive stance as her energy slammed into him at full force. He felt his human guise give way as he triggered allowing his own energy to clash with hers.
"That settles it." Dante replied grasping at his prized guns rapidly firing them. Nero wasn't far behind him with Blue Rose however the bullets only struck the buildings around them.
Dante tracked her movements carefully taking note that she seemed to be moving further away from them and closer towards the office.
Nero revved Red Queen igniting the blade and swung up engulfing the shadows in flame causing them to dissipate. Dante shot at it again with Ebony before grabbing Rebellion and swinging down.
He felt his sword pulse against the energy as it attempted to cut through the darkness only to be dispelled backwards. Dante flipped in the air landing on his feet.
"Foolish half breed." The she devil taunted. "You will not be able to protect yourself let alone the child."
The mist sped away rolling towards Devil May Cry and seemed to wrap it's tendrils around it shrouding it in its veil.
"Oh shit." Nero said.
"She can't get in." Dante said relinquishing his devil form. "All she is is smoke and shadows kid."
"Exactly!" He nearly shouted at the elder. "How are we supposed to beat something like that?"
"What do you do when it's dark out?" Dante asked receiving an odd glare from the younger.
"I don't know, turn on the lights?" He questioned back as realization lit up his eyes.
"Yup." Dante said. "So all we gotta do is figure out how to turn on the lights."
"Kyrie...Kyrie." Patty shook her friend awake from where she had fallen asleep on the desk. She jumped a bit instinctively placing a hand to where her holster was. "Easy..."
Kyrie stared at her friend for a moment groggily trying to get her bearings. "Can you hear that?"
The women remained quiet listening to the building groan and creak more than it usually did. Kyrie stood up staring at the ceiling taking a step back towards the store room.
"Somethings here." She stated.
"Well yeah...it's that devil." Patty replied. "Nero's mother."
"She can't get in." Kyrie said. "Not with the wards."
"I'm not so much worried about her getting in..." Patty stated as plaster from the ceiling began to crumble and fall onto the desk and floor. "As I am us getting out."
Growls could be heard from all around them as whispers resounded intelligibly with a few coherent voices in the mix.
'Protect the masters mate.'
'We must ensure the masters offspring survives.'
'Take up arms with us to protect yourselves.'
'Yes equip us, let us lend you our strength.'
"What is that?" Kyrie asked looking around. Patty went over to the store room door flinging it open.
"It's Dante's devil arms." She said walking over to a crate. She glanced around to a dusty corner finding a crow bar.
"Can we trust them?" She wondered as Patty put all of her weight onto the metal as she pried it under the wooden lid.
"They've pledged their allegiance to Dante when he defeated them in battle." She stated. "He seriously has never mentioned this before?" Kyrie gave a small shrug and shook her head. "Well, it seems, they're willing to help us out."
The top of the crate splintered off revealing the plethora of weapons that lay inside of it. "I remember this. Dante used to have it up on the wall."
Patty grabbed at the guitar that sparked and crackled with electricity. She held it up for Kyrie to see as it illuminated the space around them brightly with a purple glow.
She let go of it as rustling was heard around them as if many wings were fluttering past them. Before their eyes a female devil materialized from the weapon standing before them.
Her skirt seemed to be alive as it slithered around her while her top was bare with just her hair barely covering her breasts. "Nevan!" Patty exclaimed as if she were recalling a lost memory.
"Well hello there honey." She drawled. "It's been a long time Patty."
"You recognize me?" She asked surprised.
"But of course I do." She replied sounding someway offended. "You may have grown but you are still you, just as pretty as ever."
"And you are just as beautiful as I remember." Patty said.
"Now, this little darling here..." Nevan turned her attention to Kyrie. "Is my masters chosen one?"
"Yes, I am Dante's mate." She replied.
"Well, it seems as if you ladies are in a bind." She noted. "Any way I can lend you assistance?"
"Nevan, my daughter...please protect her from..this." Patty said as the building groaned loudly.
"That devil out there is pretty determined but I'll do what I can." She said walking out of the room to where Nina sat on the couch staring up at the ceiling with wide eyes. "Wow, your fathers a powerful devil, isn't he precious?"
Kyrie looked in the crate startling slightly at the energy that popped up out at her. It wasn't painful or malevolent but powerful all the same.
'Let my brother and I aid you.'
'Yes, allow us to assist you.'
"Those were the voices we heard before." Kyrie stated grabbing the two blades out and held the hilts up to her eye level. The end of the hilts formed heads that stared back at her.
'I am Agni.'
'I am Rudra.'
"Oh, I am Kyrie." She replied softly.
'Our master has chosen wisely in taking you as his mate.'
'Yes, her heart is pure and strong, perfect for a devil as strong as the son of Sparda.'
"Okay." Patty interrupted as more plaster fell on them. "Hate to break up the make out session but we've got to move."
Outside Nero revved Red Queen more hearing it sputter. He was running out of fuel. His bringer wasn't bright enough to cause any damage to the creature and if he ran out of gas then who knows what predicament they would be left in.
"What the hell..." Dante shouted suddenly. Nero followed his gaze up to the roof and felt his mouth drop.
"The hell are they doing?" He felt his heart sink into his stomach as he caught a glimpse of Patty and Kyrie on top of the building and seemingly climbing to its highest point.
"They've got my devil arms." Dante said more to himself. "Alastor, Agni and Rudra. Patty...Kyrie! Light this bitch up!"
"What did he say?" Patty asked shaking her head.
"Something about lighting it up." She said.
'The devil around you lives in shadows. Illuminate your area and she will be vanquished.'
Alastor sparked in Pattys grip forcing her to grip its hilt with both hands. Similarly Agni flared up as it engulfed itself in flames.
The two women began hacking with the swords at the smokey tendrils causing the devil to screech at the assault.
"Now that's what I'm talking about." Dante said smirking as he triggered. Nero felt the last of Red Queens reserves drain as he dealt a devastating blow.
"Almost over." He muttered. Patty and Kyrie each let out attacks that sent flames and electricity through the devil. An in humane scream echoed as the darkness dissipated.
On the ground below in front of the shop she materialized into a more human form, more so than what they had yet to see.
Nero approached her with his sword swung over his shoulder. His breathing was heavy as he bit at his lower lip.
"You will destroy me then?" She asked wryly. "How sad, a child will destroy its parent. I only hope that one day your daughter will return it to you in kind."
"See that's where you're wrong." Nero said. "I will not abandon her and I sure as hell will not make her my enemy."
"I came here to retrieve you from them!" The female shouted. "The humans stole you from me! Raised you for their own twisted purposes because of your blood line..."
"Yeah, in the last few years that's all I keep hearing about...how I'm a descendent of Sparda, it's a real pain in the ass." Nero replied. "But I also have a rep to live up to, Sparda had a heart that was more powerful than any demonic energy ever could be."
"Then you'll spare me." She said simply.
"No." Nero stated reaching out to her with his devil bringer and holding her down. "For what it's worth, I'm sorry...sorry you came here looking for a fight and threatened us. If you hadn't then maybe things could have been different."
Nero felt his talons flex as the ghostly apparition of his arm crushed the devil to dust. He sheathed Red Queen and stood quietly for a while staring at the spot where she had been.
"Nero." Dante said coming up next to his nephew and wrapping an arm around his shoulder.
"I'm alright." He replied softly with a sigh. The two looked up at the roof at the two women who peered down at them before heading inside.
Dante unlocked the doors and let out a laugh as he saw Nevan sitting on the couch with Nina.
"What the..?" Nero said taking a quick step forward only to be halted by Dante.
"Relax kid." He said. "Babe! Long time no see."
"No thanks to you sugar." Nevan replied feigning hurt. "Locking me away in that dreadful box."
"Aww, don't be like that. I told you it was for your own safety." He replied. Nevan placed Nina on the couch as she stood walking over to Dante.
"Still such a handsome devil." She stated before transforming back into the guitar. Dante grasped it by the neck and smirked.
Nero went over to Nina on the sofa as Patty and Kyrie made their way down the stairs with their new choice weapons.
"Hey! Who said you two could use my devil arms?" Dante asked playfully.
"The devils in them did." Kyrie quipped.
"Oh did they?" He asked eyeing the swords with a raised brow.
'We merely offered your mate our assistance.'
'Yes master, we lent her our strength in order to protect your offspring.'
"Well if that's the case I can't really fault that." Dante said. "But back in the crate with all of you."
"Do we really have to put them away?" Kyrie asked.
"For sanity sake, yes." He replied.
"Why?" She quipped.
"Kyrie, can we argue about this tomorrow?" Dante said.
"Okay but don't think I'm going to forget." She replied sweetly.
'She is strong.'
'Yes indeed.'
"No talking!" Dante shouted at the twin swords receiving a sultry chuckle from Nevan.
