Dante sealed off the door that led out from the bedroom to the roof and had begun the arduous task of cleaning out his storage room downstairs.
With the help of Lady and Trish he was able to sift through the more dangerous devil arms as opposed to the more benign. He was astonished at how many crates they were able to condense and get rid of completely.
Lady had had a storage space specifically for odds and ends she had collected over the years and relented that Dante could store his devil arms there as well seeing as how they needed the space.
Once the room was cleared out he stood in the middle of the floor shocked at how mush space there was, it hadn't been that empty since he had bought the shop.
"I figure we can make this our room and have the baby's upstairs." Dante said once the cleaning had been done. Kyrie peered around in thought.
"It might be safer to have the baby upstairs." She added.
"Yup, my thoughts exactly." He said. "We can get one of those walkie talkie things for when it cries."
"Well regardless I want to have it in the room with us at first." She replied. "I want to get a bassinet and have it by the bed."
"Okay sweetie." He agreed smirking. It still seemed surreal to him even though Kyrie was visibly showing already. She had been nauseated a bit in the beginning and tired but that had been it much to both of their relief.
Now going into the fifth month he could tell she was a little on edge and worried. He assured her that everything was fine and their baby was doing great. He could still see the worry on her face but his words seemed to calm her.
"Have you thought of any names?" Kyrie asked bringing him out of his thoughts.
"Have you?" He questioned back glancing at her sideways.
"I asked first." She stated grinning. Dante rubbed the back of his head shaking his head. "You're lying."
"Am not!" He retorted defensively.
"Yes you are." She quipped. "Dante you're my mate, my husband...I know your ass." Dante let out a chuckle.
"Yeah well, it goes both ways honey." He replied.
"You say that like it's a bad thing." She said. "So, names."
"Well I like old names for girls, like Hazel or Elsie." He said.
"Those are nice." She said. "How about for a boy?" Dante shrugged slightly as if he didn't. "I'd like to name him after you."
"No." Dante said quickly. "We're not doin' that."
"I like your name." She said.
"Not gonna happen." He replied.
"Okay well what about after your father or brother?" She asked.
"Nope." He said. "What about you? How about your father or brother?"
"I like James." She said after mulling it over for a minute.
"That is a nice one." He agreed. "I could see my son rocking that."
"Hazel is a nice one too." Kyrie said.
"Then it's settled...just like that?" Dante asked kind of in awe that in less than ten minutes they had figured out names for their kid.
"I guess so." She retorted extending her hand towards him. "Want to shake on it?" Dante grabbed her hand pulling her closer to him receiving a giggle in response.
"How about you lay some sugar on me instead." He whispered. "To seal the deal." Kyrie laid a soft quick peck to his cheek trying not to laugh at his expression of mock hurt. "That's it? All the work I did in here for our baby and that's all I get?"
The phone in the office rang out shrilly causing Dante to hang his head down somewhat.
"Later." Kyrie said walking out to the office. "Devil may cry. Alright, sounds like a plan." She handed Dante the address she had scribbled down as he grabbed Ebony and Ivory from his desk holstering them.
"What's the deal?" He asked.
"Pay upon elimination, sounds like a small nest that's popped up, nothing serious." She stated.
"This is nearly an hour away...damn, who knows how long I'll be." He said.
"The sooner you leave the quicker you'll return." She replied sweetly standing on her tip toes to kiss him on the lips gently. "Any ideas what you'd like for dinner?"
"Surprise me." He said smiling at his wife. "I'll be back as soon as I can."
"Take care." She said as he walked out the door. Kyrie walked over to where Nevan leaned against Dantes desk grabbing her and sitting down in his chair.
She strummed the chords of electricity sounding better than what she thought she was actually capable of, she was sure Nevan was helping her out in some aspect, before placing the devil arm back down.
After a while of reading and sifting lazily through a magazine she glanced up when the double doors opened.
"Can I help you?" She asked the woman that entered. She appeared nervous but most people were more than a little perturbed when they entered the shop due to whatever they were experiencing. Then again it may have been the various devil skulls that Dante had pinned to the wall with various swords.
"Kyrie." The woman said almost breathlessly. Kyrie stood from behind the desk going on high alert. She grabbed Red Rose from the top of the desk holding it tightly ready to draw. "I don't know if you remember me.." The other woman eyed her pistol warily. "But I...I'm from Fortuna too."
"You're not familiar." She replied flatly feeling her breathing become heavier. "You should leave"
"A year or so ago now I found out where Nero was, I thought that he'd found you...that maybe you two were together." She continued.
"I said...leave." Kyrie warned pulling the safety back on her gun. "I don't care why you're here or what you want but you need to go now."
"I was there when your son was born...I helped deliver him, I'm a nurse..." She said nervously.
"I said get out!" Kyrie shrieked pointing her gun at her. "Just go! Leave me alone!"
"Kyrie...I didn't know what was going on. After the order was dispersed it was found out that the members of the order who had taken on demonic powers were trying to impregnate human women to create hybrids." She explained. "They poisoned the water in town with something that would affect a woman who was carrying a child with devil blood...to end the pregnancy. You were an unfortunate victim..."
"Unfortunate victim." She echoed. "They sterilized me to prevent me from ever having another child!"
"Yet here you are." She stated indicating her slightly protruding abdomen.
"I went through hell and heart break to have this baby and I'll be damned if anyone is going to ruin that for me." She shouted.
"I'm only here to say that I'm sorry." She stated. "I found the files before Fortuna was evacuated. I tracked down Nero and left them for the two of you. That's it."
"Fine you're sorry...now get out." She reaffirmed. The woman swayed slightly glancing around her taking a deep breath.
'Her intentions are not what she claims.'
'Indeed they are not.'
Kyrie listened to Agni and Rudra however appeared passé. The woman shook her head at the whispered words before taking a step towards the desk and closer to Kyrie.
"I've heard rumors that the man you married is the youngest son of Sparda." She commented.
"You shouldn't listen to the rumor mill." She suggested. "They're rarely right."
"From the decor..." She stated motioning around the room slightly. "That it is fairly accurate." Nevans energy crackled before she manifested herself in her full form.
"That's as far as you go my dear." She said menacingly. The woman stopped in her tracks before she let her own guise drop revealing what the order in Fortuna referred to as 'angels'.
"How did she get in here if she's a devil?" Kyrie demanded angrily wasting no time in firing her pistol. The devil jumped up easily evading the bullets and flew in the air.
"Hardly a devil, do I look like a devil to you?" She questioned.
"You're wrong! All of you are just wrong!" Kyrie shouted.
"She was once a human, perhaps she tricked the seals on the office." Nevan suggested as if in thought.
"I am sorry Kyrie...I have no intentions of harming you..." The female said as Nevan shot a blast at the other effectively tearing a corner of her wing.
"You shouldn't have entered my masters chambers." Nevan said. "Now you die."
"Nevan...wait!" Kyrie yelled running around the front of the desk as the other female barrel rolled into the devil arm. She struck Kyrie sending her reeling hard into the edge of the desk.
She caught her front feeling the unyielding wood press into her stomach between her pelvis deeply. She let out a yell falling to the floor on her knees clutching her injured area.
"No!" She screamed feeling the throbbing of her flesh and a stinging from further in her body. "No...no..."
The female devil transformed back into her human form and backed away as Nevans eyes turned a crimson red. She hissed at the other female as her bats encircled her knocking her down to the floor and pinning her there.
It was at this moment that Dante returned home.
