Soooo, I've gotten over being sick, and I finally got some time, and I thought it was time to update this sucker. As such, let's not waste time and get right into it:

Enjoy! And I don't own anything but the idea.

Jasper's POV

"Um...no, I really don't want to go shopping," Bella stated, her gray eyes sweeping over my shoulder as she looked at Alice standing behind the couch, smiling like a Cheshire cat.

"You don't?" Alice quipped incredulously, scoffing. "What girl doesn't want to go shopping?"

Bella glanced at me, lifting an eyebrow. I shrugged, flipping through the television channels to find something worth watching.

"This girl," Bella replied, "and I don't really think shopping is completely necessary. After all, Rose already told me that you two know what size I where in everything. As such, my presence in your shopping endeavors is completely useless. Why don't you and Rose just go alone?"

I had to give a point to Bella on that one. That was an incredibly valid argument. Even so, I knew for a fact that Alice would take it with a grain of salt.

And just as I thought, Alice was going to lay the guilt on nice and thick.

"Oh, come on, Bella! Shopping is a bonding experience that shouldn't be wasted. Not to mention the new designs that came out this month. Why would you want to waste such an experience? After all, we could get you some pretty dresses in case you and Jasper went out." My eyes flashed to hers, and she smirked at me. "Or, maybe we could get some really cute boots and nice skinny jeans! You've got a phenomenal figure, Bella, we might as well show it off!"

Bella looked at Alice as if she were the biggest liar in the universe, her disbelief smothering me as her cheeks were sprinkled with red. I glanced sideways at her, amazed that Bella did not see just how stunning she is. I smiled to myself for a second, thinking about making plans to get her to see how stunning she was. I traced my eyes back to the television, tightening my arm around Bella's shoulders as Alice continued to rant about the uses of fashion and its place in the world. From Bella's careless emotions, I knew that she did not want to bother with this topic at all.

"Bella, are you listening to me!?" Alice questioned.

Bella looked up at her, the apology shining in her eyes. Slowly, her head began to shake, her full, lusciously wavy black hair flowing out around her, the strands caressing my cheek with a silver kiss. Alice began tapping her heeled show on the hardwood, the click resounding throughout the room. Her eyebrows lifted a second before her face cleared completely, her foot stalling mid-movement. I glanced back at her, ready to lift my arm from Bella as Edward rushed into the room from nowhere, resting his hands on Alice's shoulders as he stood behind her.

Bella's eyes met mine for a moment, and I shrugged as Alice came out of her vision. She was not freaking out so everything was okay. Bella's petite body soon bristled with fear, her eyes trained on Alice. I looked over at the girls, watching as Alice's cheeks lifted in a devious smile.

"Alice?" Edward questioned, glancing my way.

"Bella, I have a proposition," Alice said, ignoring Edward's question.

I looked at my angel as she grew curious, and I could see in Alice's eyes that she had Bella right where she wanted her.

"Yes?" Bella asked wearily.

"How about we all go shopping, girls and boys? That way, if we want to split up, we can, and Rose and I won't have to drag you all over the place." Bella's eyes sparkled, a smile lighting up her face. "But! That will only happen if you promise me that you will comply with mine and Rose's wishes and clothing, and that you have to go in at least six stores with us."

I watched as Bella's eyes glazed over with consideration, her body back towards me slightly. I looked on, absolutely entranced with the way her eyes danced with thought. After a few minutes past, Bella looked up at Alice brightly, nodding her head with a flourish. Alice squealed, jumping up and down on the balls of her feet as she clapped her hands together. The dainty sprite flung herself at Bella, wrapping her thin arms around her neck from over the couch.

"Thank you, Bella!" she squealed. "I'm gonna go get Rose and Emmett!"

She disappeared, Bella immediately dipping down into the couch cushion beside me, resting her head on my shoulder.

"You won't have to be stuck to her hip, Bella," I told her, turning the television off and placing the remote on the center table. "I'll just make them agree to let you go."

"Really?" Bella looked up at me with excitement, her eyes glowing.

I chuckled, leaning forward to place a sweet kiss on her forehead. "Of course."

Alice came bounding down the stairs at that moment, Rose and Emmett following close behind. "Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!" Alice squealed, rushing forward and grabbing Bella's hand in order to pull her from the couch and out the door.

"No, wait, Jasper-" Bella's voice was cut off as the door clicked shut behind her, and I stood swiftly, rushing outside as Alice jumped in Emmett's jeep. Bella stood outside the big vehicle, looking up at it and looking hilariously tiny next to its girth. Rose, Edward, and Emmett laughed their way to the car, jumping in with ease. I shook my head at them, walking up behind Bella.

"Are you just going to stand there?" I asked her softly, gently, right in her ear. She shivered as my breath hit her skin, her body moving lusciously.

"T-that wasn't the plan," she stated softly, stammering. "I'm just a little too short for..."

Her voice faded out as I lifted a hand, slowly running the tips of my fingers down her back. Her eyes closed softly, and she hung her head slightly, lost in my touch. Stepping right up behind her, her back to my chest, I brought my other hand to rest on her hip as the other mirrored its position. I gripped her softly, lifting her off the ground. She gasped as her feet left the ground. I pushed her legs forward so her fought rested on the edge of the now open door. I let her gain her balance before shifting my hands to her backside, pushing her into the vehicle carefully. My demeanor was calm, but my hands were itching to cup her skin. Shaking my head, I released her, jumping in behind her as she took a seat.

I pulled the door close just in time for Emmett to start peeling out of the driveway. Glancing over at Bella, I saw that she was avoiding my gaze, her eyes on the hands folded in her lap. I smirked slightly at my ability too embarrass her. After a minute or two, she glanced at me from the corner of her eye. The corner of my lip rose as her face lit up with a striking blush. Lifting a hand, I stroked her warm skin softly. Finally, she closed the distance between us, unbuckling her seat belt so she could scoot closer to me. I wrapped my arm around her as she leaned into my side.

The drive to Seattle was short thanks to Emmett's manic driving. No one spoke the entire way there, but the peace and quiet seemed to disappear completely as soon as the car was parked.

"Yay!" Alice called, materializing at my side as I helped Bella out of the car. My siblings followed behind as Alice took Bella's hand, dragging her towards the building. Bella's feet dragged across the pavement, her heels digging into the concrete.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa there, Pixie!" Bella injected. "I'm going with the boys. I'm living you and your crazy sister to the clothes shopping."

Alice gasped and turned on Bella. Bella was startled by the movement, and, with her heels digging into the ground, she immediately started falling backwards because of the sporadic shift in momentum. I was immediately behind her, my arms around her waist as she leaned against my body.

"Are you saying that you would rather look at electronics than the new additions to the Jimmy Choo store?" Alice questioned, her confusion evident even in her voice.

Bella lifted an eyebrow, glancing between Emmett, Edward, and myself. "Were you guys planning on checking out the electronic store?" she asked us.

The three of us nodded, Emmett adding, "We need a new television for the living room and new games, so yeah."

Bella smirked smugly, looking back at Alice. "Yes, I would. No offense, but I couldn't care less about clothing." Alice opened her mouth to argue, but Bella beat her to. "I swear to wear anything and everything you buy me, but I am sticking with the boys."

Alice's face became thoughtful as she stared at Bella. Bella shifted in my arms beneath the scrutiny, her body warming as her heart beat loudly within her chest. Finally, Alice sighed, releasing all of her thoughts in one powerful exhalation.

"Oh, fine," she muttered, hooking her arm with Rosalie's. "Have it your way. We're gonna go check out the Jimmy Choo store. We'll see you guys later?"

We nodded as she looked at us over her shoulder. She disappeared into the mall before any of us moved. Bella released the breath I had not realized she was holding, relaxing against my form. She scooted away from my grip, twining her fingers with mine. She began pulling me towards the mall with Edward and Emmett following.

"Let's go, gentlemen. I wanna check out the new games that just came out, and Emmett, you need to pick out a television," Bella said with a bit of excitement. We glanced at one another with wide smiles on our faces.

We entered the mall, moving into the wide center alley that was bustling with a fair amount of people. Heartbeats and rushing blood poured around us in the veins of the humors scurrying around with their purchases. I breathed in, taking in the aroma of Bella in full as her hair brushed across my arm. We walked down the alleyway, Bella's eye flitting from one store to another, checking out the windows and their contents. We were halfway through the mall when we came across the electronics store. Emmett whooped aloud with excitement, the tremor of his voice gaining stares as we walked into the store. If we weren't already garnering stares, we sure were now. Emmett's boisterous nature as we followed him over to the television section caught plenty of attention. That and our predatory looks, we were immediately the center of attention.

Dropping my hand, Bella moved down the aisle to the newly released video games, her eyes skimming the titles. I smiled as I watched her, quickly averting my attention to Edward and Emmett as they took in the newest televisions. Even as I listened in, I was still hyper aware of Bella's form just feet away.

"They have a new sixty-five inch flat screen," Edward said, looking up at the one hanging on the wall. "According to the clerk who's watching us, it came in last week and hasn't even been turned on. Fully functional."

I looked up at it approvingly, but I could see in Emmett's expression that it just was not enough. He wanted the big stuff. Admittedly, sixty-five inches was good for most, but Emmett just was not having it.

"Nah, what about the eighty inch?" he offered, moving towards the end of the aisle closer to the exit and away from Bella. He waved his hand over the flat screen before us. The display range was nice and big.

"Surround sound and High Definition," Edward murmured, reading off the small tag underneath the screen.

Emmett's eyes glowed as he looked up at it. From his gaze, I could already tell he was calculating the development of picture and sound that was sure to come from the device. He was probably also banking on the clear picture to help him with his gaming skills. I smirked lightly, silently. He never would let it go that I could beat him at every video game in existence. Sure, his skills may have been bargained with my power, but he was not about to learn that.

Emmett exhaled, looking over the screen. "It's beautiful," he murmured satisfactorily. I cracked a smile while Edward chuckled at our brother's admiration for the technology.

"He really gets into this too much sometimes, doesn't he?" Edward asked me quietly, and I nodded in turn, my smile growing as Emmett began to bounce on the balls of his feet as he checked out everything the television had to offer.

"That's rated M, you know. Lots of blood and gore. You sure you could handle it?" a voice said to my right.

A soft snort followed the words, Bella's sweet honey voice coming soon after. "I'm sure I can take it. A little gore never hurt anyone."

I turned my head as Edward and Emmett did, the three of us watching the interaction before us. Bella was looking down at a game in her hand, reading the information on the back of the package. The boy was leaning against the side of the display with his body turned towards Bella. The boy was tall, close to my height, with blue eyes, brown hair and freckles across the bridge of his nose. The boy looked harmless, tall and lanky with almost as much muscle output as Edward, but there was an edge to his stance that I did not appreciate, especially not so close to Bella. I tensed and Edward must have noticed because he placed a hand on my shoulder. I glanced at him, and he nodded towards Bella, giving a movement with his hand that told me to keep my mouth shut. Emmett tensed beside me, as well, working in time with my emotions.

"Maybe, but you don't look like the kind to want to see that sort of stuff all over the screen," the boy added smoothly, his body moving almost elegantly so he was right next to Bella, he arm brushed the lapel of his leather jacket.

From here, I could see Bella's shoulders tense as she continued to avert her eyes, focusing on the game intently. A growl rumbled through my chest and Emmett's. Edward was the only calm one among us, and I was meant to be the empath.

"Oh, yeah, then what kind of person do I look like to you?" Bella brought back, turning her head towards the boy. In that moment, I knew I would give anything to have Edward's ability just so I could see her reflection through the boy's thoughts.

The boy felt startled at her question, but that disappeared as quickly as it came. His body tensed in turn to Bella's as she offered the challenge.

"Definitely not the tough act kind," he shot back, not so polite. Emmett and I growled again, but Edward was in on it this time.

Bella seemed to stare, or glare, at the pathetic child a moment before finally snorting aloud, her humor flowing out to me in waves. "You don't know a single thing about me," Bella growled, "and don't you think you do just by some random video game."

The boy had the audacity to smirk at her. "I don't know about that, princess, you can learn a lot about a person by the type of game they play," he mocked condescendingly. "Let me guess, you're some weird chick with a fetish for blood am I right? You probably take your boyfriend and cut him just to drink it." He laughed outright, smirking down at Bella venomously.

"Wow." Bella slammed the game into the guy's chest. He looked up, shocked and angry, as his eyes met Bella's. "Jackass. Game don't have shit to do with the kind of person one is. Admittedly, yes, I love blowing up zombie heads in games, but that has nothing to do with who I am as a person. And I definitely don't do anything like that!"

The boy tossed the game at the display, and it clattered to the floor with a few others it took down with it. "Now, listen you little bitch. I just wanted to talk."

"And you're terrible at it. Now, back off."

Bella began to turn on her heel, probably meaning to come back towards us, but the boy's hand shot out before she could turn fully. Her wide eyes locked with mine for just a second as the boy used his hand around her arm to pull her back around.

"You can't talk to me like that," the boy growled, sounding way to much like a vampire in that moment for my comfort level.

I rushed forward with four long strides, Emmett and Edward flanking me. We towered over the two with strong stances. Emmett had his arms folded across his chest menacingly while Edward and I had our arms hanging at our sides, our fists curled in tightly.

"I can, child," I snarled, almost inhuman as we glared down at the boy.

His eyes flashed up to mine in fear before releasing Bella as he pushed her into Emmett's chest beside me. Emmett caught her gently, her soft body colliding with his. She curled into him with her arms folded between them, her gaze hard and calculating as she looked back at the child. Emmett wrapped his arms around Bella carefully, protectively.

"I really think you should leave," Edward shot out quietly, his tone deadly calm.

The boy stumbled back, nodding brokenly before leaving the store completely. When he was gone, Edward and I turned to Bella and Emmett. Emmett was stroking her hair as she buried her face in his shirt. We formed a triangle around her as she calmed, taking deep, even breaths. Soon, she lifted her face from Emmett's chest, looking up at him with a grateful smile before passing the look to the rest of us.

"Are you alright, Bella?" Edward asked, gazing down at her with soft eyes.

Her smile grew slightly, her hair fanning as she bobbed her head. "Yes." She cleared her throat, her smile dropping as she glanced down at her arms that were still held between her and Emmett. "Though, I honestly think I may get a bruise from his grip." She grimaced as she past her hand over the area where the boy had grabbed her.

A growl rumbled in my chest as I moved forward a step, carefully pulling her back into my chest. Emmett released her easily, too caught up in his scrutinizing of Bella's arm to fight me. I took her hand in mine, lifting her arm slightly so I could look over it. Sure enough, there was already a blue haze forming on her skin, just below her elbow. I placed my hand on the growing bruise, glancing up at her face as I did so. She winced again before her face calmed, as did her entire form. She leaned back into me as I grazed my fingers over her skin, knowing that this was incredibly intimate. My brothers glanced away, giving at least some sense of privacy. Bella sighed at my cool touch, her eyes falling closed briefly.

After a few seconds, she seemed to spiral back down to earth because her eyes opened and she turned around so she was facing me, moving back a few inches.

"It's bruising," I murmured, looking down at the skin once more.

"Yeah, I figured. Listen, how about you guys finish here?" I glanced up at her swiftly as Edward and Emmett turned back to us. "I want to go to the restroom and clean my face, calm down. None of you can go in there with me anyway. I'll be back in a few minutes, okay?"

She looked up at me sweetly, her eyes shining into mine. Exhaling, I nodded. I had no claim or power over her. She could go where she pleased. She smiled, lifting to her tiptoes to press a gentle kiss on my lips. She pulled her arm away from me as she walked away, giving Edward and Emmett each a kiss on the cheek before moving out of the store. I clenched my fists as I recalled the last few moments, but I forced myself to calm. My anger would do me no good now. The boy was gone and Bella was fine.

"Well," Emmett bristled, cutting through the tension, "how about that eighty inch?" I snorted, shaking my head as we moved to the counter to pay for our latest purchase.

"Esme is going to kill us when we come home with yet another television," Edward summed up as Emmett handed over his shiny black credit card to the cashier.

Emmett grinned wildly down at us, his teeth flashing brightly. "Nah. We'll just destroy the old one and make an excuse. Besides, that one's lasted longer than usual."

I simply shook my head, already to get back to Bella.

Bella's POV (*shocking*)

I pulled my water filled hands up too my face, soaking my heated skin in the ice cold water. I opened my eyes, careful of the falling droplets as I reached for a paper towel, wiping my face down. I stared at my reflection a moment, getting rid of all the water. My face slowly lost its redness, my normal pale skin taking over. I sighed gratefully, happy that there was no physical evidence of the event except my new bruise. I glanced down at it as I wadded the paper towel up in my hand. Sighing, I ventured out of the restroom, walking to the nearby doors. I pressed against the handle, moving out into the world. I went to the right, stepping back against the wall to lean against it. I breathed in sweet oxygen as I stood there.

Looking out, I watched the cars move across the street, the stoplights flickering. I stood for a minute or so before my neck buzzed with electricity. Pulling my eyebrows together, I looked to the left. Nothing. Then, to the right, and I came, quiet literally, face to face with a ghostly figure. It was a man, mid-twenties, with long brown hair and sky blue eyes. He was dressed in a turn of the century uniform. Glancing over him, I realized why the uniform was so familiar. Civil War. I stared into his eyes, breathing calmly.

"I..." His deep voice trailed away as his eyes looked at mine incredulously. "You can...see me?" he asked cautiously with an English accent as if he were afraid of hoping.

I nodded my head. "Yes," I murmured quietly, barely moving my lips as a few people walked past me. They paid me no mind. "I see all those like you that show themselves."

He flashed a smile, breathing in happily. "Saints be praised! I have been needing assistance for decades now! Tell me, Leftenant, why is it you can see me and no others can?" he inquired politely, still respectfully bubbling with excitement.

I smiled at his exuberance. Such a kind soul, he was. "It is my gift," I stated proudly. "Are you in need of assistance? I have the ability to help you."

He nodded. "Oh, yes, please. Ah, forgive me. My name is Carter Williams, madame, one of the many leftenants to General Robert Lee. I was killed on these lands many a year ago by a shattering bullet."

I gave him a smile. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Leftenant Williams. My name is Bella." I offered a hand, watching as he carefully shook it for a moment before releasing it.

"The pleasure is all mine. Now, I have a quandary, my dear. You see, my great great great granddaughter is currently being haunted by monstrous beings. I have been watching over my family for decades now, and these devils have just recently imposed on my territory. I am content to wander this world, but I will not have my granddaughter mixed up in the equation. Are you willing to help me rid the world of those monsters to protect her?" he asked, his eyes blazing into mine with encouragement.

Thinking over my resistance to power, I wondered, "How many are there?"

"Three," he replied, and I immediately knew which beings he was talking about.

For this reason, I could not stop the low groan that fell from my lips. "The Trio," I muttered. The man nodded eagerly, his hair fanning out. "Is your daughter gifted?"

"Indeed, the signs are there, though she does not acknowledge them. She used them as a child, but she has since deprived herself of them."

I let my eyes close a moment before opening them again. "She has resisted," I stated. "That's going to make my job difficult, you understand? You cannot expect this to be an easy fix."

"Of course," he replied. "I cannot fight them alone, and I am quiet powerful as it is. I fear that only the living power can be rid of them."

"I'm afraid I must agree with you." I sighed. These beings were part of the reason I was already so weak. Heaven forbid I have to take them on all at once. That would bring my death. Though, with Williams, there was a chance that I could separate them. Separately, I could take them down. Slowly but surely. Glancing away from the man as I thought, I brought my gaze back to his. "I will do all I can to save your granddaughter. Are you willing to help me?"

The man released a short gasp, his eyes wide as he realized I was willing to help his cause. "Yes, yes, yes. Absolutely!"

I smiled. "Great. Where is she?"

"In Port Angeles. She lives in apartment 72C on the third floor of Bittersweet Oak Apartments."

I took note of that, storing it away for later. "Alright, Mr. Williams. We have a deal. When I can get a feel of the situation, I will need your assistance. Try to stay close, and we can stop the Trio together."

The man flashed a broad smile, his body tensing as he saluted me in respect. "Agreed, Leftenant Bella." He dropped his hand as his eyes grew wide, his gaze shifting past me. My eyebrows pulled together as he exclaimed, "Look out!"

I turned my head in confusion, "Wha-"

Strong hands grabbed either side of my head, and I soon felt the collision of my fragile skull against the hard concrete behind me. My eyes rolled briefly as I dropped to my knees just in time to feel a powerful foot connect with my chest. I pounded back into the wall, falling down to all fours as I glanced around me blindly. The boy from the store came into my vision as he took off running.

"Eat that, whore! Tell your brothers to bite my ass!" he called back over his shoulder as the world around me shimmered around the edges.

Carter's face filled my vision, his voice echoing around in my head like a broken record. "Leftenant! Leftenant Bella! Bella...Leftenant..."

His voice bounced in my skull as he faded before my eyes, his ghostly form seeming to dissolve right there in front of me. The bittersweet smell of blood filled my nose, and I gagged, helplessly reaching a hand out to the man just before he was gone. He left me, he left me...

That was all I thought as the world around me faded to black. I was swallowed into an abyss of darkness. Drowning, drowning, drowning...

Jasper's POV

Edward, Emmett, and I were just walking out the front door of the mall with the new television box cradled in Emmett's arms. The box seemed to big for even his stature, but everyone around us was much too frightened to even question it. We laughed as Emmett pretended to be thrown off balance by the "heavy" object. The laughter ceased quickly, though, as the scent of Bella's blood flooded our senses. We looked at one another quickly, our eyes flashing around frantically. I caught sight of Bella's immobile body laying on the concrete and immediately ran over to her, looking over her body as I checked her injuries. She had a nasty head wound, and, from her labored breathing, a broken rib. The others knelt down around Bella's limp body as Alice and Rosalie shot out of the front doors.

"I'm so sorry!" Alice cried, sobbing between her words. "The decision was so sudden, and we couldn't run full speed, but we came as fast as we could!"

I shook my head at her, lifting Bella into my arms carefully. "Get in the car and meet me at the hospital." With those words, I took off back to Forks, knowing that I was going to beat them. Ignoring everything, I escaped out of the city limits, avoiding all people. I reached the forests and tore through the trees with abandon, reaching the hospital within minutes. I rushed through the doors like a madman, feeling tremendously lucky as I saw a flash of Carlisle's golden hair at the receptionist counter. He looked up, startled by my scent and Bella's. His eyes caught mine, and they immediately flashed to Bella's form, already taking note of her injuries.

"I need a gurney!" Carlisle commanded to everyone, and a nurse dashed off to get one.

He walked towards me as the doors near the counter surged open, a male and female pushing a gurney towards us. He motioned to it, and I placed Bella on the hard bed carefully. Carlisle looked over Bella's body, looking at her head first. The bed was already getting saturated by her blood, and I knew that Carlisle needed to work fast.

"Dammit!" he growled, almost shocking me with his language. It was so unlike him. "Let's go! She needs stitches fast, and an x-ray and sedation." He began pushing the gurney away with the nurses. They disappeared through the doors, and I stood back helplessly, knowing that I could not follow.

I hung my head in defeat, allowing time to move around me. It was ten minutes or so before the rest of my family came bustling into the hospital, Esme's arms immediately engulfing me. I hugged her back, feeling some semblance of comfort, finally. We sat in silence, Esme arm over my shoulder, as time moved at a snail's pace. It was two hours before Carlisle came into the waiting room. With his entrance, Esme and I rose form our seats as he neared, the others staying in their seats.

"How is she?" I demanded quickly, not wasting time.

"She's sedated, but only slightly. She had to have ten stitches in her head, and she has two broken ribs with some nasty bruising. She should wake up in a few minutes while feeling very little pain," he replied, glancing from me to Esme and to the family behind us.

I shifted on my feet. "Can I see her?" I asked, begging almost.

He nodded, waving a hand behind him and stepping aside. I past him, heading through the doors and down the long hall that was revealed behind them. I followed Bella's scent to a room near the end of the hall. I pushed the door open slowly, cautiously, mentally preparing myself for anything. I entered the room, the door falling with a soft click. Bella lay completely still under the bed sheets, her chest rising and falling with each quiet breath. Her head was wrapped in gauze, but that was the only outwardly physical evidence. I could hear the faint grating of her bones from her broken ribs as she breathed, so I knew more of what she was feeling. I walked to the bed, fearing to even so much as breathe in her direction. She looked so fragile, but I knew better. She was anything but. Yet, with her there, still and hooked up to machines, she looked like porcelain.

I moved a chair to the side of the bed, taking a seat as I waited in the silence, the beeping of the heart monitor keeping me sane with its rhythm that matched the sound of Bella's breathing. Fifteen minutes went by before there was a shift, a change in the air circling in the room. Bella's breathing sped up slightly as she awoke, her eyes moving behind her eyelids. Slowly, she fell back to earth, her eyes fluttering before they fell open, her eyes gazing up at the ceiling in confusion. It felt like forever before her eyes finally found mine, but when they did, I almost felt my heart shatter. As it were, I felt it as her heart did.

Pain fell upon me in a tidal wave as Bella's eyes glistened with tears. I reached forward with a gasp, gripping the edge of the bed so tightly that I thought I would tear through the mattress. I looked up at her as water dripped down her pale cheeks relentlessly. She began gasping, her bones protesting harshly. I pushed out all the calm I could to her. Her gasping settled only slightly, and her tears never so much as slowed.

"Bella," I whispered, "what is it? What's wrong? Has the medicine worn off? Are you swore?" I asked, clinging to my sanity and the calm that I forced to permeate the room. Bella was hurting. And I hated it.

"N-no," she sniffled brokenly, her voice quiet and childlike. "They're gone. Ah, Ah, they're gone!" she exclaimed through her sadness and pain.

I felt a flash of confusion of my own as I stood up, leaning over slightly so I could cradle her wet face in my hands. "Who? Who's gone?"

"I-I-I'm in a h-hospital. I-I should feel t-them! They're g-gone, all gone!" She was almost in hysterics at this point, and even my calming essence was doing very little.

I stroked her cheeks with my thumbs as she immersed herself in her sadness and tears. In that time, I came to the only conclusion of what could be bothering her so. "Are...are you talking about the ghosts?"

She released an agonizing whimper that stretched into a quiet scream. Her head bobbed mechanically. "I can't feel them! The electricity is gone! I CAN'T FEEL THEM!"

Bella's POV

THEY'RE GONE!

ALL GONE!

I CAN'T FEEL THEM!
