Naruto: The Runaway Chronicles

Chapter 9

"So Naruto, any girls in your life?" Kiba asked with a laugh as everyone gathered in the dining room for lunch.

"Hmph, for your information, I have to beat them off with a stick." Naruto fired back with a smug look on his face.

"Really?" Kiba asked with a disbelieving look.

"Hell No! I've been way to busy for that kind of thing." Naruto replied with a depressed look.

"The life of a wandering ninja is never easy." Daso said with a cheerful smile.

"Tell me about it." Naruto muttered as everyone sat down.

"So... becoming the bodyguard of a nobleman's daughter, that's quite an honor." Asuma stated with a thoughtful look.

"Yeah well... I never planned on it, I just did a few jobs for Lord Hiyoto and suddenly he asked me if I would look after his girl. Figured the food would be good so I said yes." Naruto explained, sensing the question in Asuma's statement.

"Well thought out Naruto, that's how I think. If the food is good, then I'll go pretty much anywhere." Choji said with a smile.

Naruto simply rolled his eyes at the Akimichi's agreement.

"So... um... How goes your training Naruto?" Kurenai asked.

"Fine... I had to spend a lot of time, undoing all the damage that was done at the academy, but after that was done, I started to pick things up quickly." Naruto replied simply, only the slightest hint of venom in his reply.

"Hmm... Damage? What do you mean by that?" Sakura asked curiously.

"Well for your information pinky, I was never taught how to properly control my chakra, so I have to relearn all of that, while at the same time, none of the teachers bothered to teach me even the academy's most basic form of Taijutsu, so I had to relearn all of the moves again, and get rid of all that old muscle memory. It took a good six months to fix all of the damage, and those two examples were just a few things that I wasn't taught right." Naruto replied in a stale tone of voice. Sakura simply made a face and bit her lip, almost like she wanted to ask something else, but was to afraid too.

"Don't worry Naruto, I will do all that I can to help you train." Daso stated with a smile.

"Yes... I'm sure there would be more then a few shinobi in Kumo, who would be more then willing to take on a bright young lad like yourself as an apprentice." Ay added, as he casually smiled at a nervous looking Kakashi and Kurenai.

"I think that would be awesome. After the wedding, Nayumi will be too... 'preoccupied' to need my protection, so I should be able to squeeze in a few lessons." Naruto replied with a cheeky grin, which caused Ay to laugh loudly.

Naruto was about to say something else, just so he could get under the Leaf's skin some more, when suddenly he spotted Neji's eyes widen from across the table. Naruto was sitting directly across from Neji, which meant that whatever was drawing the Hyuuga's attention, was happening behind him.

Naruto turned around right in time for a foot to connect with his face. The strike hit him with enough force to send him flying out of his chair, over the table, and past the people sitting across from him, into the wall behind them.

"Guess who's back... and pissed?" The Fox laughed at it's host's misfortune.

"THAT'S FOR MY HEAD YOU CUNT!" Nayumi shouted with pure, unrefined, fury.

Naruto struggled to his feet as all of his Cloud counterparts burst into laughter, while the Leaf nin, all collectively sweat-dropped.

"Hey Yumi, sorry about that, I guess I got a little carried away." Naruto apologized, as he scanned, Nayumi. She now had her head and arm bandaged up, and she looked quite pissed.

"You're lucky I don't kill you for that cheap shot!" Nayumi hissed at him as she focused KI at him.

"Hehe, sorry. I really am. Look to make it up to you I'll fight you at full strength when your fully healed." Naruto bartered.

Nayumi continued to glare at him as she contemplated that offer. She had no doubt that Naruto had held back in their training sessions, and she had always wanted to face The Kitsune at his best.

"Fine. Once I'm fully healed, we'll have a real match and we'll fight at full power." Nayumi agreed to his proposal.

"Well, since you're awake, would you like to join us for lunch?" Ayane asked her with a smile.

Nayumi simply made a face, as she moved to sit in one of the few open chairs. She ended up sitting next to Kurenai, and Ay.

"So how are things in Konohagakure?" Daso asked as Naruto returned to his seat.

"The village is fine, we're actually gearing up for the Chuunin exams, which are to be held in Suna this year." Asuma replied.

"Yes, I had heard about the upcoming exams. I wonder, Lord Raikage, will the Cloud be participating in this years exams?" Ayane asked.

"Hm..." Ay thought for a second, he wouldn't mind seeing the after affects of giving the Leaf the proverbial middle finger, in regards to Naruto.

"Maybe you'll see some cloud ninja there, maybe not." Ay replied, after a moment.

"Well, I hope so. It would be interesting how strong Kumo's genin are in comparison to Konoha's." Kakashi added.

"Like I said, maybe, maybe not." Ay said again with a shrug.

"Well... what about you Naruto? What are your plans for the future?" Kakashi asked.

"I am a loyal guard of lady Nayumi. I plan on serving her, and protecting her, until she releases me from her service." Naruto replied, in a polite and formal tone. As Naruto said that he looked at Nayumi and offered a devious smile to her.

"You are too damn fun to have around, Naruto. I don't know what the hell I would do without you to hang out with." Nayumi said with a grin.

"Love you too Yumi." Naruto said with a laugh, as there food came out.

"You two seem close." Kurenai stated, with a curious look.

"Besides Daso and Ayane, Yumi is the only friend I've had since I left the Leaf." Naruto said with a distant look.

"Well... that explains a lot." Nayumi said with a roll of her eyes.

"What does that mean?" Naruto asked with a confused look.

"Oh... it means now I understand why you''re so awkward." Nayumi replied with a thoughtful look.

"Um... okay." Naruto stated, not getting what she meant.

"Ha! That's just your luck Naruto, manage to annoy even your clients." Kiba said with a laugh.

"Well at least I don't eat shit, or howl at the moon." Naruto fired back.

"Hey I don't do either of those." Kiba growled in reply.

"Yeah... I'm sure." Naruto said with a roll of his eyes.

"You seem to have developed a bit of a bite, eh Naruto." Kakashi stated.

"Yeah well, I've dealt with everything over the last few years, from bandits, to rapists, and murderers, to child molesters, and gang bosses. I've kept myself busy, and I guess I picked up a few things." Naruto said with a shrug.

"Any good fights, Naruto?" Neji asked.

"Me and a group of Lord Hiyoto's guardsman, took down a child sex slave ring, being run on the borders a few months back... that was probably my proudest moment, and my most intense fight." Naruto replied.

"Ah I remember that day. I still have the mission report in my office, I take it out, whenever I need a good read." Daso said, with a content smile.

"Oh yeah, what happened?" Ino asked curiously.

"Stuff... let's just say the head of the group wasn't too happy about me setting his, 'children', free." Naruto replied with a shiver.

"Tough?" Kakashi asked.

"Creepy." Naruto replied with a stale look.

"You know, your ability to make light of even the most intense situations, just continues to astound me." The Fox said with a laugh.

"What do you mean?" Naruto asked, not understanding.

"Well, these guys work for the village that tortured you for most of your life, it can't be easy to just sit across from them at a table and make casual conversation." The Fox clarified.

"It's not easy. I keep expecting one of them to attack Lord Daso, or Ayane, or Yumi, and try to take me back to the Leaf. I'm so on edge it's driving me nuts!" Naruto replied with a bit of worry.

"I know, I can feel how tense you are, and yet on the outside, you are perfectly cool. A lesser man would be spitting pure hellfire at these people, but you are much more collected then that. You know how to deal with assholes like this." The Nine Tails stated, with only the slightest hints of admiration in it's voice.

"Well... I had a good teacher. One who taught me that you must never allow your enemies to know what you are thinking or how your feeling. And I gotta say, you don't get closer to an enemy then the guy who tried to murder you." Naruto stated as his eyes subtly shifted towards Sasuke, whom was busy sizing up everyone at the table.

"One day Kid, one day you will be strong enough to take vengeance on these cunts, who dared to treat you like garbage." The Fox assured him with cold determination.

"I know... I just hope that Daso, doesn't want to test my endurance, in dealing with these people again. Cuz if he leaves me alone with them again, I might just kill one of them." Naruto added, while shooting a slight glare at Daso.

Daso sensing the slight KI directed at him, turned to look at Naruto. He stared at him for a second before simply smiling showing that he was sorry for whatever Naruto was mad at him for.

At seeing that Naruto softened his gaze a bit and just stared down at his food.

"So whats it like to have a guy like Naruto as a bodyguard?" Ino asked Nayumi.

"Honestly... he's a perverted toad," Nayumi replied with a disdainful look, as she shot a glare towards Naruto, whom simply laughed at her reply, "But I guess he's fun to be around." Nayumi added after a moment.

"I don't know why she is so hung up on that, it was an accident. It's not like I went there expecting her to show up." Naruto thought.

"Yeah, but if you think about it, you're probably the first guy to ever see that maturing body of hers." The Fox noted with a mischievous grin.

"So...?" Naruto responded after a moment of thought.

"So... she probably wants to know what you thought. That girl has only ever cared about her skills as a shinobi. Suddenly this guy gets a good look at her body, and it turns out the guy is The Kitsune, someone she admires. She might be curious as to what you thought of her body. Think about it, the few times you have complimented her beauty, she has blushed, she's obviously not used to it. If I had to guess she secretly hopes you like what you saw, because of your reputation." The Fox explained.

"But... I already told her that I thought she was the prettiest girl I saw that day, what more could she want?" Naruto asked, still curious as to what the Fox was insinuating.

"Maybe she thought you were just trying to ease the tension, or get into her good graces. Besides she isn't really used to dealing with people, so she probably couldn't tell if your compliment was genuine or not. She might want some reassurance, that your interested before she makes her move." The Fox replied.

"Wait... are you trying to say you think she likes me? Like... really likes me?" Naruto asked with growing curiosity.

"Of course she likes you kid. She's spent most of her life training. Never spending her time with kids her own age. Meeting you, and getting compliments from you, is probably something she hasn't had to go through before, and I think she's starting to like you, and she wants to know if she has a chance." The Kyuubi explained.

"Wow... I guess I never noticed. I guess I was to busy wondering if she liked me, to see that she already kinda does." Naruto replied, coming to the realization that he might actually have a chance with Nayumi.

"Look... I know I tease you about liking her, but I know even if you don't admit that you have deeper feelings for her, that at least you care about her. You proved this, beyond a shadow of a doubt, yesterday, when you called upon my power when you thought she had been killed. Though I do think that there is something more you feel for her. I can feel it whenever you two spend time with each other, you enjoy being with her, and you spend a lot of time thinking about her. I know that you love her, now whether you are 'in' love with her or not, is something you'll have to find out for yourself." The Fox told him.

"It's hard sometimes... ya know? You're right. I do care about her, and I do think about her a lot. I just don't know if what I feel for her is love, or not. I mean... I wasn't kidding when I said that she's the first friend my own age, I have made since I left that shithole of a village. And I never had any friends when I was in the village. So... in a way, Nayumi is like my first real friend. I just don't know what to do, do I tell her how I feel and maybe she can help me figure it all out? Do I say nothing and try to sort it out on my own? Do I even take the chance? What if she doesn't feel the same, and what if she turns on me like everyone else? I don't know how to deal with this!" Naruto finished with a mixture of anger and confusion.

"You're scared... aren't you kid?" The Fox asked even though it already knew the answer.

"Yeah I guess I am. I only have three real friends. You. Daso. And Iruka sensei. Ayane is cool but I wouldn't say we're friends, as of yet, we're close just not like that. Then there is Yumi. I just don't know what to do about her... I find myself thinking about her more and more, and I wonder what she thinks of me. I'm so frustrated by all this! Why can't it just be easy!" Naruto finished with a yell. The truth was he was thinking about Nayumi more and more often. It wasn't all the time, but he was definitely thinking about her more then he used too.

"Maybe tell her a little about yourself. If she starts to get closer, then maybe you can open up more about your feelings." The Fox offered as a suggestion.

"That's about as good as your help is going to get, isn't it?" Naruto asked with a bit of sarcasm.

"I am a beast that thrives on emotion... that doesn't mean I know what to do with them. You're the one who has to figure it out." The Fox responded with a huff.

"I guess I'm gonna have to think about this, and figure out what to do." Naruto thought as he refocused on everyone else, who had been having idle conversation.

"Well... let's eat." Ayane stated after a pregnant pause.

-Later-

After eating in relative silence, sensing Naruto's growing anxiety, Daso began chatting with the Leaf nin, and kept them talking long enough for Naruto and Nayumi to slip away.

The two were now sitting on the roof of the palace, looking out over the city.

"So that was fun... you BS pretty well with people you claim to hate." Nayumi said, as she admired the view.

"Yeah well... it's not easy. Every fiber of my being wants to lash out at them... though I guess they aren't all bad. Kiba, Shino, and Hinata are pretty cool. Choji too. The others seem too tense... almost like they're planning on grabbing me at a moments notice." Naruto informed her.

"You were pretty tense around them." Nayumi stated.

"I know... it's just... hard." Naruto replied, his eyes locked on the horizon.

"Lord Ay and my father told me that you ran away from them, but he didn't say why." Nayumi told him, leaving the question hanging in the air.

"They treated me like a demon. I've had things happen to me, bad things. The Leaf's hurt me, they've tried to control me, and they've treated me like shit. I don't ever want to go back to the nightmare." Naruto replied with a bit of sadness.

Nayumi stared at him thoughtfully for a moment, before finally asking, "What do you mean they tried to control you?"

Naruto almost visibly flinched, almost like he had said to much, or been caught in a lie.

Nayumi noticed his reaction and quickly questioned him about it. "What did they do to you?" she asked with concern.

Naruto stared at he for a moment before letting out a long sigh. He lowered his head and revealed the back of his neck. Nayumi looked at it for a moment seeing nothing, though that didn't last long as suddenly a seal appeared on the back of his neck. It was circular with a smaller design inside it.

"What is that?" Nayumi asked.

"That... is the reason why I will never forgive them." Naruto replied as he looked back up at the horizon.

"What is it?" Nayumi asked, her voice beginning to fill with concern.

"This..." Naruto began, pointing at the seal, "Is two seals, placed over each other to control me."

"What do they do?" Nayumi inquired, her eyes locked on her friend.

"One is a memory suppression seal, that is locking something in my memories away, and given what I do remember, I am way to horrified to release it and see what it's hiding." Naruto began to explain.

"And the other?"" Nayumi asked.

"It's an emotional reconfiguration seal." Naruto replied with a bit of venom.

"What does it do?" Nayumi continued her questioning, her eyes studying ever detail of her friends features.

"You know... when I was little I lived in an orphanage. They treated me like shit there. They fed me spoiled or stale food. I was beaten almost daily, or placed in dark, dank, crawlspace under the stairs, for hours or even days at a time. They treated me like I was worse then trash. But you know what the craziest thing was? I never hated them. I felt sad that I was treated like that, but I thought that they were just sad, or angry, and they were taking it out on me. It was the same with the rest of the villagers... I didn't hate them. Their actions just made me sad." Naruto explained, as anger began to well up inside of him.

"The Seal, was manipulating your emotions, wasn't it?" Nayumi guessed.

"We guess that is was placed around the same time as the memory suppression seal. That had to be sometime around when I was eight or nine. The seal is designed to target a specific emotion or event, and trigger a specific response. They are often used on interrogation or torture victims to make them less disdainful about their suffering and as a bonus, it also affects past memories, and makes them a bit fuzzy, so that when you recall them, you feel exactly what they want you to feel. With mine it was very clear what the Leaf wanted me to think. It had two functions... the first was to ensure that whenever I was abused or neglected or treated in any sort of negative way... I would always feel sad, never angry. And the second function was to ensure that when I thought of the Leaf, I would feel nothing but admiration, and respect." Naruto explained with obvious anger.

"They were trying to turn you into a mindless servant. They wanted you to be a loyal lapdog." Nayumi said with a bit of her own anger.

"I could forgive them Yumi... when I was in the academy, I was still being treated like garbage... and yet... I could forgive them. Because I thought they were ignorant... because I thought that they were just sad about losing people to the Nine Tails. I didn't know about my connection to the beast, I just thought that, the Nine Tails attack had scarred them, and that they couldn't get rid of their hate. Now I know the truth... and to be honest... I think I could still forgive them... if I was still living there, and I learned about the Fox being inside of me... I think I could forgive them for their hatred." Naruto told her, his eyes dropping the ground as he spoke.

Nayumi watched him carefully, she felt bad for him. Naruto was probably the first real friend she ever had, and to see him like this, so sad, and angry. She didn't know what to do, or say to make him feel better.

After a few moments of silence, Nayumi decided that she had to ask, "If you could forgive them for years of abuse and torture... then why don't you?"

"I could forgive them... because I thought they were blinded by their hatred... … … … I could forgive them because I thought that they only saw the demon, when they were attacking me. This however... proves that, that just isn't true... they knew what they were doing to me. And someone took great steps to ensure that I would never hate them for what they did. Someone, somewhere... knew that a little boy was being TORTURED! And they decided to not only allow it to continue... but ensure that I would never retaliate for it!" Naruto growled in reply, tears threatening to spring from his eyes.

"Is this what caused you to leave?" Nayumi asked, her voice laced with sadness and sympathy.

"No... and I don't really care what it was anymore, the Fox said i was running away. I don't know if that is true or now, all that i do know is that I got into a fight with the Uchiha, and it ended with me in a coma. The Fox had to take over my body and get me to safety. The influx of it's power, revealed these two seals, and after we figured out what they did, any chance the Leaf had at earning my forgiveness, vanished. Now I just want them to die and never bother me again." Naruto answered her, with a sigh.

Naruto's eyes remained on the ground, he was trying to get his emotions in check when suddenly he heard Nayumi shift closer to him and wrap an arm over his shoulder.

He glanced over at her and found her eyes locked on him, he was surprised to see that her normally calculating gaze, was now unsure and filled with sadness and sympathy.

"You're my friend... right Naruto?" Nayumi asked.

"Yeah... of course." Naruto replied, with a bit of a smile.

"Then you can count on me. If you ever need anything... you just let me know. Friends look out for each other, after all." Nayumi added with a grin.

"Thanks Yumi." Naruto thanked her.

"Anytime Naruto." Yumi replied.

"Hey... why don't we go for a walk, and have some fun down in Aski?" Naruto suggested, after a moment.

"Sure... why not. Let's go have some fun." Nayumi replied after a moment of thought.

-Later-

"Geez I thought we would never get out of there." Shikamaru whined as he and the rest of team ten, wandered through Aski.

"Yeah... gotta thank Gai's team later for biting the bullet, and keeping the Cloud's attention so we could get away." Ino added as her and the rest of team 10 walked through town.

"Where do you think Naruto is?" Choji asked.

"As far away from us as he can get, probably." Shikamaru replied.

"I can't believe that he lost his memories. That makes our job that much harder." Asuma whined as they walked.

"Not to mention, the demon has had three years to fill his head with hateful thoughts towards the Leaf. It's going to be very hard to help him see that we're not the enemy." Shikamaru added as they walked.

"Do you have any ideas on how to convince him Shikamaru?" Choji asked as they walked.

"Not a one... he's like a different person now, and until we learn more about how this Naruto thinks, we wont be able to come up with an affective reason for him to come back." Shikamaru replied.

"This is bad... hopefully master Jiraiya will show up in time to convince Naruto to come home, if anyone can undo the damage that damn Fox has done, it's him." Asuma stated as they continued to wander the town.

-The Next Day-

"Morning sunshine." Naruto heard as he stirred from slumber.

"Whoever it is, need to run off and die! I want to sleep!" Naruto howled as he rolled over. It took him a second to realize he was lying in grass.

"Time to get up... you two have places to be." Came an amused voice.

"Busy sleeping... talk later." Naruto huffed, as he tried to return to the wonders of dreamland.

"Lord Ay and Lord Hiyoto, just sent me to inform the two of you that your wedding is going to begin in three hours, and if you want to take part in the festivities, then you need to get your asses up!" Came the voice again, though it sounded slightly more annoyed this time.

"Yeah yeah... Wait!" Naruto shouted as he shot up to see Cee standing over him, with an annoyed look.

"You said the weddings in a few hours... that means I slept for a full day... oh crap!" Naruto howled as he shot to his feet.

"Settle down... you didn't sleep for a whole day. The last of the guest arrived this morning so Daso figured you'd want to get this whole thing out of the way." Cee informed him.

"Oh... well cool." Naruto replied after a moment to clear his head.

"Now if only miss dead to the world, would get up, we could get this show on the road." Cee stated shooting a look over to Nayumi whom was sleeping a few yards off. Naruto stared at her sleeping figure for a moment before glancing around the area, he noticed that he and Nayumi had slept out in one of the meadows around Aski.

"Wow... I don't think I've slept that well in a long time." Naruto said with a stretch, as Cee walked over to wake Nayumi up.

"Bless that man... now you don't have to spend the next day, avoiding those Leaf nins, and I get to see there faces, all the sooner." The Fox stated with evil glee.

Nayumi quickly woke, and Cee explained to her about the wedding changes, after he was done Cee quickly Shushined away, leaving Nayumi and Naruto in the meadow.

"So... this is it." Nayumi stated with a nervous shrug.

"Yeah... I guess it's time to get hitched." Naruto replied with a nervous grin.

"Let's put on a good show, and give those Leaf bastards the biggest middle finger we possibly can." Nayumi said after a moment of silence.

"Yeah... I can't wait to see there faces." Naruto said with a mischievous grin.

-Later-

"I wonder where Naruto is?" Sakura stated aloud as the wedding guest filed into their seats. The wedding was taking place outside in the courtyard of Lord Hiyoto's castle. The Leaf nin had been moderately surprised by the change in the wedding schedule, but they didn't put much thought into it, they were all too worried about finding Naruto and talking to him, to care about this event.

Though after being misled and ambushed by curious people of Aski along with Cloud shinobi, they ended up ending their search around midnight. The Leaf nins weren't worried about time, yes they said they'd leave after the wedding, but now that they knew where Naruto was, it didn't matter how much time it took, they could play it slow for now.

"Yeah... you'd think as her body guard, that he'd at least be here to see her get married." Tenten added.

"Maybe, he's busy training... you know how he is... never takes things like this seriously." Kakashi reasoned.

"That could be it." Asuma agreed.

"Or it could be much more romantic. Maybe Naruto's really in love with this girl and he's heartbroken that she's marrying another guy, so he's off pouting, and at at the end of the ceremony, when the priest asks, is anyone objects, he'll come storming in... oh... that would be so awesome." Ino cooed as she fantasized about the event.

"Um... I don't think that's going to happen." Sakura said with a little annoyance.

"Why not... Sakura... Naruto, ob-obviously, liked her." Hinata questioned, with obvious sadness in her voice.

"Yeah... but Naruto is really dense... he wouldn't know what to do about stuff like that. He'd probably just think he was sick or something." Sakura countered.

"Well, regardless... Lord Daso, said that after the wedding, we would be free to talk to Naruto as long as we wanted. So let's just get through this and then we can all chat with him again." Sasuke stated, as he scanned the crowd for probably the twentieth time.

The Leaf nin stood at the back, just casually watching the event unfold... after a moment Naruto along with two other men walked out from the palace, one being Cee, the other Darui. The Leaf nin didn't recognize either of the men.

The three walked up to the arch, and got into position, though Naruto stood in the middle of the two men, rather then closest to Nayumi... he wanted to keep up the charade for as long as he could. Cee stood, closest to the center, like he was the one to be married, and the Leaf nin just took it in stride.

"Look Naruto is one of the groomsmen... how youthful." Lee said happily, earning a nod of agreement from Gai.

"Wow... Naruto looks good in that Kimono... don't you think Hinata." Tenten teased, Naruto was dressed in a simple yet elegant dark blue kimono, the really emphasized a calm and peaceful demeanor.

"Yeah... I guess... …" Hinata sputtered in reply, her face turning red.

Naruto scanned the crowd, once he spotted Sasuke, he couldn't help but grin mischievously.

"What is that idiot planning on doing?" Sasuke asked as he recognized the look. It was the same one that Naruto got whenever he was planning a prank.

"Oh... if that idiot screws up this beautiful moment, I'm going to murder him." Ino growled, with murder in her eyes.

"Man you must really like weddings." Choji stated, eying Ino curiously.

"Yeah... I do. I think they are beautiful moments, that shouldn't be profaned by anything. The consummation of two peoples love, in such a way, is just so beautiful." Ino replied with hearts in her eyes.

"You know this is a political marriage right?" Shikamaru asked.

"So what?" Ino fired back.

Shikamaru just stared at her for a second before rolling his eyes.

After a moment the music started playing and out walked the bride. Nayumi was dressed in a long white kimono, that had elegant and beautiful designs on it, she walked with her father down the aisle. When they reached the end, the priest turned to Daso and asked, "I do believe there is something you wish to do before we begin?"

"Yes I do." Daso replied as he took both of Nayumi's hands and addressed her and the crowd with a proud smile.

"Nayumi... I have watched you grow from this adorable little girl, to the beautiful woman that stands before me. I have watched you work your tail off, trying to become a strong Kunoichi. And I have also watched as you have grown into a strong and dependent young woman. I am proud to say that you have turned out much better then I could have ever hoped for." Daso said as he pulled his daughter into a hug.

"And so it is with a heavy heart that I relinquish my title as Lord of these lands, to you my daughter. May you rule justly and fairly, and may the people of these lands be as good to you as they were to me." Daso stated, to many of the noblemen surprise.

"I humbly except this title, and all of jobs that it brings. I hope to bring honor to the Hiyoto clan, and continue to make you proud father." Nayumi replied with a big smile.

The two hugged again, and for a moment all was silent. Naruto took this one last chance to glance over at his Leaf counterparts, whom ranged in emotion from bored shitless, to completely engrossed.

His eyes settled on Kakashi, and he couldn't help grinning once again.

"What are you planning Naruto?" Kakashi asked, sensing more then just mischief in Naruto's grin.

"You know... I never did say that I'm glad you Leaf nin showed up." Came the Raikage's voice as he stepped up next to Kakashi.

"Oh... why thank you." Kakashi replied with an eye smile.

"Yeah... it saves me the trouble of writing a long as letter to the Hokage." Ay replied.

"Oh... does that mean you want me to deliver a message?" Kakashi asked suddenly becoming suspicious of Ay.

"Yes..." Ay replied as Daso stepped away from the alter, and took his seat.

Ay draped am arm around Kakashi's neck and leaned close like he was going to whisper the message to him. Ay had to hold back a smile as he felt Kakashi tense. Ay leaned close to Kakashi's ear and whispered, "I think I'll follow in my little brothers footsteps for a single moment and deliver this simple message in rhyme. You tell that Hokage of yours, that 'Nine... is mine.'" Ay whispered and then pointed to the alter.

Horror welled up in Kakashi's gut as he glanced up at the alter, he saw Cee turn and smile right at the Raikage before taking a step back, and in his place, Naruto stepped forward, gently taking Nayumi's hands in the process.
