It was in early summer, when they were in the middle of a war with the Southern Lands, mostly with Naraku and Akuokaesu. Sesshomaru had the help of Koga and the Lord of the North, Ryutansei. Kagome was in her last trimester of her pregnancy, so lets just say that Sesshomaru didn't let her go with them. She wanted to help but Inuhime convinced her that she would be a distraction. Even Sango and Inukimi told her the same. So she relented, reluctantly. Kagome asked Inuhime to stay, since she was Sesshomaru's twin, because Inuhime would know if Sesshomaru got hurt or worst. If Kagome didn't asked her to stay, then Sesshomaru would to. So either way, she had to stay. Inuhime asked Zoku to go and help in her place. Zoku was more than willingly to. She had a bone to pick with their enemy. It was time for their foes' victims to have their revenge.

The war was declared between the South and the West in early spring. Naraku was getting impatient, so against his son advice, he declared war on Sesshomaru, before trying take down Sesshomaru's allies one-by-one. Sesshomaru was a step ahead of Naraku because he asked the alliances of Koga and Ryutansei. They instantly agreed to help. There was no need for negotiations between them. Koga honored his word to Kagome, that if she needed him in anyway, he would be there. Koga sent Ayame to the West to help them defend Kagome if needed. They'd met Naraku, just outside the Southern Lands. Koga commanded his wolf warriors as Ryutansei commanded his dragon warriors. Sesshomaru commanded his army, in which had dogs, cats, foxes, even panthers, but it was mostly dogs. Toran was willing to help Sesshomaru, if they could get the spoils of war, which was the Southern Lands. Sesshomaru and the other two cardinal lords had no reason to have the Southern lands. All three lords agreed with Toran. Sesshomaru knew that she and her panther warriors will fight to the death, when an opportunity of taking land was for grabs. It was just that they needed to rid the world of Naraku and his spawn.

Akihiko wanted to go and get revenge for what they did to him and his mother. At first, they wouldn't let him go, but surprising Inuhime vouched for her son. He maybe still a pup, however, he knows Naraku's tricks and strategies. Akihiko was a good fighter in his class. However, there was a condition to it. The condition was if the numbers were too great than she wanted him to come home. Zoku assured her that she would keep an eye on him and keep him safe.

Inukimi had her magical mirror moved to the palace, where all could watch the war. Inuhime was there to make sure that Kagome wouldn't go into premature labor and also watched over her like Sesshomaru wanted her to. Inuhime wanted to go and have her chance to kick the living hell of out Naraku after what he had done to her and her family. If the Kami is willing, she wanted to go after Kagome had her pup. Inuyasha was told to stay with the females and guard them. Of course, there was a huge blow up on that between him and Sesshomaru. They kept on arguing until Inuhime got tired of it and sat Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. Yes, Sesshomaru sat too. It was really hilarious to see the great lord of the west face-planted on the ground beside Inuyasha. At least, no one, but family had seen that or there would be a lot of talking. Inuhime sat them straight on who would or not goes to war. Even though, Sesshomaru was lord, but she was the eldest of the two. They, too, got into arguments about strategies and what not until they came into an agreement.

Kagome was there witnessing all of that. She wished that the war would had never happened because she missed Sesshomaru. She needed him there. However, she knew how Naraku and his lust for power was. She hoped that this war would end with them being victorious.

Meanwhile, at the battlefield, Sesshomaru looked at the carnage ahead of him. Their and their foe's numbers were steadily decreasing. Sesshomaru wanted to end this war. He needed to because his pup is due. She would be born anytime now and he wanted to be there for Kagome. However, until this troublesome war ends, Sesshomaru couldn't be there for his mate and unborn pup.

Akihiko walked up to his uncle. "Uncle, are you alright?"

Sesshomaru glanced down at him. "I want to end this war. I wish your mother disobeyed me and came anyway."

Akihiko chuckled, "Well, Uncle, why don't you seek her out? You, two, are twins, right? Or if you were my mother and if she was in this situation, what would she do?"

InuTaisho came from behind them. "Yes, son. What would your sister do?"

"She wouldn't put her people into a conflict that was really between her and them. She would take them out herself, if need be."

"Well, son, I believe, it's time for your sister to come and join us. And I imagine that Inuyasha would love to join in the battle, as well."

"Akihiko, go get your mother and Inuyasha."

"Yes, Grandfather."

Akihiko walked out of his Uncle's tent as he passed Koga. Koga said, "Hey, Lord Sesshomaru. What's our plan of attack?"

Sesshomaru looked at him and said, "Don't have one, yet."

Koga couldn't believe what he was hearing. "What? What do you mean you don't know?"

Sesshomaru glared at him. "It's what it means, Lord Koga."

InuTaisho stepped in, "Lord Koga, we are waiting for Inuhime and Inuyasha. We fetched Akihiko to bring his mother and Uncle back here. It would take at lease four days; two to get there and two to return. From there, we will plan a battle strategy."

Koga replied, "And what if that bastard and his spawn decides to attack?"

Sesshomaru answered, "Then we will fight."

Later that evening, Kagome went to her chambers. She walked out to the balcony and looked at the moon. She was so much in thought that she didn't hear Inuyasha came in. He said, "Kagome.." When he said that it made her jump. "I'm sorry Kagome. I didn't mean to scare you. I just want to check up on you. How did you doing? Considering..."

"Considering that my mate and husband is at war with that evil asshole and worrying about him all of the time... yeah I am doing fine. No great."

"Jeez, Kagome. You don't have to talk like a smart ass."

Kagome sighed and walked to her bed. "I'm sorry. I just missed Sesshomaru. Inuyasha... I... don't know what would I do if I lost him."

Inuyasha walked to her bed and sat by her. "Listen, Kagome. I know Sesshomaru. Despite him being a cold asshole, he's a determined fighter. Knowing him, he probably wanted to end this stupid war and come back home to you, Shippo, and Rin. He loves y'all very much."

Kagome smiled and gave Inuyasha a hug. "I know, Inuyasha. I just miss him."

Inuyasha sighed. "I still don't know what you see in my half-brother. To me, he's a cold-heart bastard with an icicle shoved up his ass or something."

Kagome hit him. "Your brother..." "Half-brother." "... whatever is the most sweetest man... youkai that I know."

Inuyasha laughed. "Sesshomaru... Sweet? Man, he got you big time." Kagome had that look before she sat him, however, instead of sitting him, she yelled, "Inuhime!"

Not long afterwards, Inuhime came running in. "You called, sister?"

"Yes, tell Inuyasha to stop badmouthing Sesshomaru and sit him for me." Inuhime smirked evilly.

"It will be my pleasure, sister." She paused and calmly said, "Inuyasha... SIT!" 'a loud crack in floor sounded as Inuyasha face-palmed to the floor.' "That was for badmouthing our brother." She could hear Inuyasha muttered something that sounded like 'half-brother.' "Come on Inuyasha, Sister needs her rest."

"But... but... Inuki... I want to sit by Kagome."

"Not when you are causing her stress."

"I wasn't... was I, Kagome?" Inuyasha wasn't sure if he was causing her any stress.

Kagome answered, "No, not really. I just don't like it when you badmouthed my mate is all. Inuki, he can stay."

Inuhime looked at her brother like 'if you do anything to hurt Kagome, you will get it'. Every since Inuhime found out about Kagome's pregnancy, she
became like a guard dog, protecting her sister, even from Sesshomaru unless Kagome told her that it was alright. Sesshomaru does the same whenever he was there. So, one could imagine siblings would fight. The ones to stop them would be Inukimi, InuTaisho, or Kagome herself. Kagome told them if they can't be civil around her then leave. Sesshomaru and Inuhime apologized. They just wanted to protect her and the unborn pup.

Inuyasha said, "See? I can stay." Inuhime decided to stay and sat on the other side of Kagome as Inuyasha sat where he was sitting at earlier. "Why are you here, Inuki?"

"I am here because I, too, want to sit near Kagome. Got a problem with that, little brother."

"Uh... nope." Kagome shook her head. She missed her and Souta sibling fighting like that. Kagome got a big contraction, but she didn't say anything, yet.
