Naruto: The Runaway Chronicles

Chapter 19

Minato sit on his knees listening to his wife berating him. He knew he deserved it, and jut sat their waiting for her to turn her rant into questions. He knew it was better to remain quiet while she screamed at him, he knew she wouldn't stop until she got everything out. He'd probably been sitting there for well over two hours, and he was sure she would begin to wind down soon.

"WHY IN THE UNHOLY HELL WOULD YOU AGREE TO THAT!" Kushina screamed at her idiot husband as he explained all that had happened in Tsunade's office. Everything about Naruto. Ami. And Danzo's plan.

"What was I supposed to say? This is our fault Kushina. Over a million people died in the nine tailed fox attack. All of those lives are on our heads." Minato argued.

"So you big idea is to make more of them!? How stupid can you be?" Kushina growled out.

"What was I supposed to say, No? Sorry my actions eradicated nearly a fourth of our villages population. And I'm sorry that my actions have ensured that Kumo now has three Jinchuriki, two of which are the most powerful. I really am sorry but there is nothing I can do?" Minato questioned.

"So you just went along with Danzo's plan… did you not think I would be a little off put by this idea! I mean, come on, this I me we're talking about. I'm pissed that there is another fox running around out there, and Danzo want's to make two more? That's fucking crazy." Kushina stated as she paced back and forth.

"What do you want me to do? We need to atone some way. Think of all the misery that has been caused because of us! We need to make up for it. I know it was a bad idea, but you have to understand. I just learned about how the fox attack had caused over a million people to die. Those people were our friends and comrades… I guess I was looking for something to do that could atone for my sins, and when Danzo came up with that idea, I just jumped on it, because it seemed like a sure fire way to show that I, and we are truly sorry for what happened." Minato tried to explain to her.

"'Sigh' Alright… I get it. I get why you went along with it, in the beginning. But you know now that it's a stupid idea right?" Kushina replied as she folded her arms over her chest.

"Yeah… I do… I just don't know how to make this all right. So much is fucked up, and I can't seem to fix any of it." Minato replied as he hung his head in shame.

Kushina let out another sigh as she looked around the room, searching for her own idea of something that could fix their problem. "Okay… what if you just gave them the True Clone Jutsu?"

"What do you mean?" Minato asked.

"It's easily an S-ranked technique, and it could help the Leaf cut down on casualties immensely. Anbu could double their squad sizes to deal with threats, and they wouldn't even need new members. We could send ninja squads out that could tag team with copied squads, decreasing the danger. Then all Tsunade needs to do, is make it illegal to use the technique outside of missions. That way people can avoid stuff like this happening. It allows the Leaf to cut down on casualties, take more missions and it saves lives. I'm sure that would be good enough to make up for what we did." Kushina offered.

"True… I guess I would be a good form of compensation. I'll go and speak to lady Tsunade about this. See what she thinks." Minato stated.

"I'm coming to. I haven't seen Tsu-Tsu in a very long time." Kushina added.

-Several Hours Later-

The meeting with Tsunade went well, Kushina spent the first twenty minute of it, pinning Minato and Tsunade to a wall, screaming at the two for being morons. Then it turned into a happy reunion between Kushina and Tsuande as the two were distant cousins and old friends.

Then she went about explained her concerns to Tsunade whom in the end reluctantly agreed that she was right. She knew that the True Clone Jutsu would be enough to fix their problems, and was happy to receive it.

It didn't take long for news of the change of plan, to make it to Danzo whom could be found in Root, contemplating his next move.

"What are we going to do now my lord?" One of his operatives asked.

"Yeah, without Kushina's cooperation, creating any proto-Jinchuriki will be difficult." Another added.

"We do not need Kushina. I was holding out a lot of hope that she was going to agree to this. I only wanted him to hand over that Clone Jutsu of his." Danzo informed them with a chuckle.

"You knew they would back out?" One operative questioned.

"Yes… I knew Minato would either back out, or Kushina would refuse. All I really wanted was the True Clone Jutsu turned over to the Leaf. Now I can begin the next phase of my plan." Danzo stated as he rose to his feet.

"What would you have us do Lord Danzo?"

"We shall wait until Tsunade begins to spread the technique amongst her Jonin and Anbu. Then once we have acquired it, I will dispatch a team to the Fire Temple." Danzo stated.

"What's at the Fire Temple, my Lord?" Inquired one of his operatives.

"Kushina and Naruto aren't the only ones with the nine tails' energy sealed within them." Danzo stated with a smirk as he turned and walked towards the darkness. Knowing full well, that his plan was slowly beginning to play out.

-Elsewhere-

"Hey come on!" A kid with glasses shouted.

"Fine fine. I'm comin'." The girl shouted back as she turned to her blonde friends, sitting next to her.

"Come on Naruto." She stated as she took his hand and the two darted towards their other friend.

Suddenly everything went black, and everything began to feel cold.

"What…. Happened….? Oh… that's right… I'm still sleeping..." The girl thought to herself. All she had was her memories… fragmented and disjointed. She never had many coherent ones, they were always fragmented into different parts of her life they were never clear of straightforward.

She wanted to wake up… she's been asleep for what felt like forever. Sleeping was supposed to make time fly right? Then why did it seem like she'd been asleep for a very long time. She missed her friends. She wanted to wake up and go play with them. Man, it was so lonely, being trapped in her own head. She wanted to wake up so bad.

As she pondered what her life had become she heard the voices again. They were distant and would come and go from time to time. She never could understand what they were saying. But… they were always there. She suddenly started to feel cold. This was new… she never felt cold, or warm. She usually just felt alone.

The cold feeling got worse and she suddenly felt herself being pulled away. She felt the memories begin to fade, she felt it all slip away from her mind. She was so scared now… this feeling of loneliness and death… it was overwhelming. The cold crept around her whole body and got worse and worse. At the moment she felt she couldn't take it anymore… it all stopped.

Everything felt like it just ended. And then… she felt heavy… and tired. But… she also felt warm. And then… for the first time in five years… she opened her eyes.

"Welcome back… Ami."

-Elsewhere-

Naruto stood before a training post delivering solid kicks to it when he suddenly felt something. Almost like… something had changed. He glanced up at the sky… unable to discern what this feeling what. But something felt different, he knew something had happened. He just didn't know what… or even how he knew… the feeling was just there.

"Hey Naruto… you alright?" Naruto her Narumi asked him.

"Yeah… I just… something feels weird." Naruto commented before shaking his head and returning to training.

Narumi gave him a look, wondering what that could've been about. She hoped it was nothing troubling, but know Naruto… whatever was going on… it almost definitely would cause trouble in the near future.
