Alright here's the next chapter of the Runaway chronicles. Hope ya like it! Sorry it took so long and sorry it's so short. I'm actually working on the following chapter, right after this one, so while this is short, you can expect the next chapter within a few days.

Naruto: The Runaway Chronicles

Chapter 20

Ami sat quietly in her bed glancing around. There were several people around staring at her or writing on charts. She spotted two large men carting someone on a stretcher out of the room.

Her head felt like it had been torn open.

"Where am I?" Ami questioned. The last thing she remembered were those mean men, beating up Naruto.

"NARUTO!" Ami shouted as she sat up and looked around.

"Shh. Calm down. You're in the hospital." Came a woman's voice. Ami glanced over and spotted a blonde haired woman, with a jewel shaped mark on her forehead.

"Where's Naruto. Is he alright?" Ami asked.

"Naruto is just fine." The woman replied with a kind smile.

"Can I see him? Those guys really did a number on 'im." Ami asked.

"You'll see him again soon. For now you need to rest. There are some things I have to talk to you about." The woman stated, watching her intently.

"Okay… what about?" Ami inquired.

"Ami… what's the last thing you remember?" The woman asked.

"I… I was with Naruto… we were on our way home, when we ran into these guys. They wanted ta hurt Naruto… they were hitting him… please… is alright?" Ami asked, her eyes filled with worry.

"You know… you're just like I've been told." The woman stated with a small smile.

"Uh… alright. Wait… who are you lady?" Ami asked.

"My name is Tsunade Senju. I am the fifth Hokage of Konohagakure." Tsunade answered.

"The Hokage… bull! The old man is the Hokage. Quit fibbing lady!" Ami shouted at her, making Tsunade think of Naruto.

"Those men whom hurt you Ami… they did quite a bit of damage to your body. You've been in a coma for nearly eight years." Tsunade decided to just tear the bandage off.

"What? Eight years? A Coma? What are you talking about lady?" Ami asked, looking very confused. Tsunade had to keep reminding herself that while Ami may look like a malnourished albeit healthy fifteen year old, she was still just a little girl in her mind.

"Those men that attacked Naruto… they attacked you too. They hurt you and you… fell asleep for a long time. It's been eight years since then." Tsunade stated, giving the girl a look of sympathy.

"What? ...but? No. I can't have been sleeping for that long! What about Naruto? Or bugs? What about my friends?" Ami asked, sounding terrified of the realization.

"Your friends are fine Ami. They miss you though. Especially Naruto. About three years ago he moved away from the village… it… hurt him… to still be here. To be in the place where you nearly died." Tsunade began to explain.

"Wait… Naruto's gone? He moved away?" Ami asked looking shocked that her best friend has up and left.

"He couldn't stay. He moved to a place far away. Started a life, he even has a wife now… he was married only a couple of weeks ago… but he misses you. If you want…. I can arrange for you to see him?" Tsunade offered.

"Uh…. Yes! Of course… I can't believe dodo brains got married. That is so romantic! What is she like? Is she nice to him? Oh I swear if she's hurting Naruto, I'll pummel her brains in!" Ami started to rant. Tsunade watched the child with amusement, this was the girl that the council cared so much for, and Tsunade could see why. She was just so vibrant and full of life. Even after learning that eight years had passed, she was more worried about Naruto and her other friends. And now she was ranting like a little girl would.

"I'll go get your nurse… I'll have her check you out to make sure you're alright." Tsunade stated as she turned and left.

"Oh… uh okay." Ami replied as she watched the lady… no the hokage leave. There was a girl as Hokage… that was awesome.

Ami smiled as she thought about it, but her attention shifted to the door as she heard it open.

There at the door way stood a man covered in bandages, and holding a cane to support him.

"Hello Ami. Do you remember me?"

-later-

"Can we hurry this up?" Ami asked impatiently. She was standing at the village gates with her escort to the Land of Lightning.

It had been two weeks since she awoke and Ami had been taken around by the Anbu to see all of her old friends. They were all so shocked to see her, Ami was just happy that they were all off the streets. They had been told that she had been in a coma for years, the old orphans were naturally distrustful but that changed the second Ami, started to talk to them in that old way she used to. She was always so excitable and to see what was basically a teenagers so excitable was quite eye opening.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Tsunade inquired, to the two Anbu and handful of children in front of her.

"We need to go and see him Tsunade. We have to figure this out." Came Frog's reply.

Tsunade looked between the two, knowing nothing she said would convince Minato or Kushina not to go, besides it's not like she could stop them, even if she wanted to. So she just nodded and turned to Ami, letting her eyes linger on the young children that Minato and Kushina were also taking with them.

"You tell Naruto 'Hi' for me alright. He means a lot to me." Tsunade stated.

"Okay." Ami said with a nod and a smile as she turned and darted off, followed after by Minato, Kushina and their kids.

While Tsunade watched them depart, someone else was watching from the shadows.

"Do you think this will work, my lord?" Came a voice from a masked figure, whom was knelt next to one Danzo Shimura.

"Yes… the idea of Naruto becoming Raikage, has been implanted into her mind. She will push him to do so. Now we must prepare out other plans." Danzo replied.

"Yes my lord." And with that the two quickly disappeared into shadow.

-Meanwhile-

"Naruto… is something wrong?" Nayumi inquired as she watched Naruto stared off at the sky.

"I feel…. I feel like… somethings coming… I don't like this." Naruto replied, his eyes full of concern.

If he had known what was truly coming towards him right now, Naruto, Uzumaki, Namikaze, would have dropped dead from a heart attack.
