Madge POV-
Tonight couldn't be anymore perfect. Cato had taken me out to a new fancy restaurant about a ten minute drive away from the school, then we went to the theatre to watch the new Percy Jackson movie that just came out, 'The Sea of Monsters', since I've been talking about how I really want to see it all week, followed by him taking me to the beach where we sat on the hood of his car on top of a blanket and watched the sunset together. While waiting for the sunset, I grabbed Cato's shoe and ran off with it, kicking my own shoes off, and grateful that my dress wasn't any longer. I heard Cato laugh as he jumped off the car's front and chased after me. I looked behind me as I ran and saw him catching up to me. I quickly pulled a sharp U-Turn and stuck my tongue out as I passed him. I saw him skid to a halt and hastily turn around. I felt the smooth sand running through my toes as I ran. Gasping, I suddenly felt my feet no longer touching the ground as I was scooped up into Cato's strong arms. He spun in a circle and I threw my head back laughing and playfully hit his chest with his shoe. Cato set me down on the hood of his car once again, a hand on both sides of my waist, and we stared at the other for a moment. Cato glanced down at my lips, then back to my eyes. I did the same. Unconsciously, the both of us started to lean in. We were three inches apart. Two inches. One. None. I felt Cato's hot breath against my mouth before his lips found their way atop mine. I threw my arms immediately around his neck and knotted my fingers in his shaggy hair. Cato's lip were soft and moist and gentle. They held a gentleness to them that I didn't think possible. I mean, this isn't my first kiss, I've had a couple before with past boyfriends, but they were always more rough. I liked the fact that Cato wasn't like the other boys who liked to take things quickly. He was being slow, and I admired him for it. For not rushing into anything. For not acting like I belonged to him.
I had closed my eyes, but the underneaths of them started to glow a slight orange. I gasped and pulled back from Cato, untangled my arms from around his neck, looking beyond him. Confusion was written across his face, but he soon followed my gaze. Noticing the sunset starting, he drew his arms back from my waist and hoisted himself up on the car beside me. Cato's arm wrapped around my body and tugged me closer to him. I rested my head on his shoulder, his head on top of my own. We watched the beautiful sunset quietly for a few minutes, when Cato decided to break the un-awkward silence. Without looking at me, Cato said, "Madge, will you be my girlfriend?"
I sucked in a deep breath. He said it. The five words I've been waiting for all evening. The five words I've been waiting for since Halloween night, when I had first figured out about my crush on him. Now, almost a month later, my wish has come true. I felt Cato tense underneath me, and I suddenly noticed how long I have stayed silent. I lifted my head from Cato's shoulder and looked at him in the eyes for moment. "Yes." Relief washed across Cato's face and he smiled, pulling me in for another kiss. This one, however was only short because I pulled away and rested my head on shoulder once again, watching the sunset. I could almost sense the smile on Cato's face as his head found its place stop mine again. We continued to watch the sunset in silence. But it wasn't awkward. We sat there. The two of us together. Cato and I. Madge and Cato. Cato and Madge. Blonde and blonde. Boy and girl. Girl and boy. Girlfriend and boyfriend.
Once the sunset had come to a close, leaving Cato and I in the darkness with only the light reflecting off the moon, Cato jumped off the hood of the car and reached his arms out to me, grasping hold of my petite waist. I placed my hands on his shoulders as he lifted me high in the and spun in circle before I felt my feet land softly on the sand. I stood on the tips of my toes and planted a kiss on his cheek, before heading over to the 'shotgun' seat of the car. As we drove back to the school, which took us about a half hour longer then away from it, because the beach is farther than the restaurant, I thanked Cato for the magical night he created.
"Thank-you Cato."
I saw Cato smile as he drove, "Anything for you, Madge."
We reached the school and Cato walked me back to mine and Katniss' dorm. I turned to face him as I grabbed hold of the door knob. Inside the room, all conversations had gone quiet. "I had a wonderful time." I told him.
"So did I." He smiled and leaned down to kiss me. My hand lost its grip on the door knob and grabbed a fistful of his shirt as I pulled him closer to me. His arms snaked around my waist. We eventually had to come up for air and bid our goodbyes. I opened the door and sighed as soon as it had closed. As expected the other six girls were looking at me curiously. Katniss, Clove, Glimmer, Olivia, Johanna and Annie. I laughed and explained my perfect night to them. Annie, Glimmer and Olivia squealed in delight.
"Awww! That's so cute!" They said.
Katniss, Clove and Johanna laughed at them and smiled at me. Soon enough, I found myself in my pyjamas and drifting off to sleep in my bed, with only Katniss left in the room now. She turned out the light as she slipped under her covers and said, "Night Madge."
"Night Katniss." I smiled to myself.
My night was full of dreams with Cato. Our kiss, chasing after on another, laughing, and most of all: when he asked that one, magical question that has just changed both our lives.
I know it's short, but I just wanted to focus on their date in this chapter. I hope that most of you are okay with the pairing of Cato and Madge. I have never seen it done before and I wanted to give it a try.
So this chapter took me about a day to write, I started writing it yesterday. But I didn't update sooner because I was also working on my Catoniss story. Don't worry, I'm still a bigger fan of Everlark than I am of Catoniss.
I hope you liked it! Leave me your thoughts in the review box below! All reviews are greatly appreciated. :)
