He was about to take a step forward when something strong gripped his shoulder. The nest thing he knew he was being spun around and it finished with his head hitting the pillow. "There's no point lying anymore, I guess. For future reference though, you probably shouldn't go around kissing vampires though; things can get a bit… Rough."
"I-I don't make a habit of it." Komuro stuttered.
She chuckled. "Good." She leaned her head on the crook of his neck and he shuddered as her warm breath caressed it. Mayonaka took his face in both her hands and leaned down and took his lips rather roughly. He responded by stroking up and down her waist.
After a while of passionate kissing, Mayonaka pulled away. Komuro smiled softy at her before moving off the bed and towards the bathroom.
Once he was gone, Mayonaka closed her eyes and let out a long tired sigh. "Why did I let myself lose control like that? Now he knows how I feel about him and there's no way I can go back now. I want to, but I really can't afford to let myself get attached. Especially to a human…" She let out yet another long sigh. "I need to take some time out. Get away from it all and consider what I want to do with a clear head. Do I want to risk it and let myself get involved? Or should I play it safe and try to cut off the attachment that I feel towards him?"
Mayonaka fell silent as she heard footsteps. A few seconds later, Komuro had joined her in bed. He lay next to her and ran his fingers through her long white hair. "You're so beautiful…" He muttered as he stared at her closed eyes.
"Thanks… You're good –looking too, but you need your beauty sleep to stay like that though." Mayonaka muttered with her eyes still closed. If he falls asleep he'll be out for longer than the hour that I need.
Komuro yawned, as if on cue. "I could do with some sleep. This is such a nice bed as well, it'd be a waste not to."
Mayonaka nodded in response and was happy as she heard Komuro's heartbeat slow down as he slowly descended into a pretty deep sleep. Mayonaka relaxed and soon found herself asleep too.
Exactly an hour later she awoke again feeling fully rested and ready for what she was about to do. She glanced at Komuro who was still in a deep sleep and then she glanced down at his hand which was rested upon her hip. She frowned down at it. How am I going to get out of that without waking him up? Hmm… Dilemma.
In the end she settled with the classic 'move his hand slowly without trying to wake him up.'
After she was firmly free and out of the way of his grasp, she took one last look at his sleeping figure and then threw herself over the balcony railing.
Komuro awoke sometime later to an empty room. There was no Mayonaka in sight. He sighed before he decided to make his way downstairs. Maybe that was where Mayonaka was.
Once he was downstairs in the living room, he was greeted by everyone. With the exception of Mayonaka. "Has anyone seen Mayonaka?" He asked casually as he continued searching the room for a flash of white or red.
Saeko shook her head. "Not since she went upstairs. Did you manage to talk to her?"
"Yeah, I did but now I can't find her."
"What do you mean you can't find her? You were just talking to her, weren't you?" Takagi threw her penny's worth into the conversation.
Komuro rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "I was talking to her but then we both fell asleep. When I woke up she was gone. I thought she may have come downstairs."
"Maybe she's in another one of the rooms upstairs? We haven't seen her come down." Kohta chimed in.
"Maybe she's gone to get some chocolate or something from a shop. I'm sure she'll be back soon." Sensei threw in.
Alice smiled and threw her hands up in the air. "Yeah! Maybe she's gone to get some of her special drink. You know how much she likes it." She clapped her hands. "Yeah, that's it! I'm sure big sister Mayonaka will be back soon."
Komuro shook his head. "I have a bad feeling about this."
Saeko stood up and took him by the elbow. "Come on, I'll help you search upstairs."
"Cheers." Komuro answered as he followed her up the stairs.
Saeko and Komuro searched the entirety of the house, but they were unable to find Mayonaka.
"Where the hell has she gone?! I thought we sorted it!"
"What do you mean, Takashi-San?"
Takashi couldn't help but hit a wall in frustration. Saeko took his arm in hers as a way of restraining him to stop him from injuring himself any further. "Tell me what happened."
"Well, she's been acting strange recently and it's because she's afraid of how close she's getting to all of us. Mayonaka was discussing the idea of going solo for a little while so that she can put some distance between herself and us, emotionally anyway."
"And you're frustrated because you thought you managed to get through to her."
Komuro nodded. "I thought what I told her would have meant more to her than that. Enough that she wouldn't just fuck off like that."
Saeko rested an arm across his shoulders. "I'm sorry. All we can do is rest up here and stock up our supplies and hope she comes back to us.
Meanwhile, Mayonaka was making her way towards the nearest lab in the area. Ever since she'd realised that her blood was a cure for being bitten, she'd wanted to get to a chemical lab to try and find some way of rolling out some kind of vaccine. As she went, she made sure to distribute her blood out to people who had been bitten.
Meanwhile, Komuro had been pretty severely affected by Mayonaka's absence and was really struggling to take charge of the group so that job had fallen to the pair comprised of Saya Takagi and Kohta Hirano. Although Hirano was also pretty crap at leadership so most of it fell to Saya and she was fine with being bossy.
From here, a couple of days had passed and tensions were riding high with the group. A lot of people wanted to get back on the road as they didn't like the idea of staying in one place for too long, but Komuro wanted to wait for Mayonaka to get back to them with a plan of action. As far as Komuro was concerned, there wasn't much point in jumping right back onto the road when they didn't have any direction to go in.
A/N I know it's been a year since I last updated, but I still want to finish it. I know this story is taken nearly five years already, but I hate how many projects I've left unfinished. I've actually got a concrete plan now on how to end this, so this story should be finished after another 2-3 chapters. But yush, if you've been a long time reader, I'm very sorry for how long this has taken and to new readers, welcome! You can read with the knowledge that you will have a solid conclusion (eventually).
