Susan Bones and The Misplaced Book
R.J. Wokling wons Patty Horrer
Susan Bones was sitting in the Hufflepuff common room double checking her transfigurations essay for McGonnagal. She suddenly realized she had left one of her books at the library. She looked at her watch, she could make it there and back before curfew. She stood up walked out of the common room, and made her way through the basement corridors to the stairs that lead to the great hall. When she stepped into the great hall she was met by the caretaker Filch.
"Where do you think you're going?" He sneered.
"To the library."
"Oh! To the library. Everyone's always going to the library, funny thing though, no one is ever in there. They're always racing up and down the halls getting mud and filth everywhere. Flushing books down toilets causing them to overflow. Spreading dragon spleen and who knows what else all over the trophy room, not to mention the dung bombs everywhere."
Susan just stood and stared at the cranky caretaker. She of course was not responsible for any of these accusations, and she had no idea why Filch was ranting at her.
"Well I hope you catch them." she said and turned to leave.
"Catch who?"
"The dragon spleeners, and dung bombers, and book flushers." That last one seemed kind of odd. She had never considered flushing her books down the toilet.
"Do you know who they are?"
"I have no idea, and I have to go, I really am going to the library." She turned and continued out of the hall. The castle seemed almost deserted as everyone had retreated into their common rooms before curfew. That was when she saw a lone figure turn a corner and start walking towards her.
"Ah Miss Bones." Gilderoy Lockhart said cheerfully as he approached her. " I thought I might meet you at some point."
"You did?"
"Of course. I assume you were on your way to retrieve this." He said flashing his annoying smile and holding up her book.
"You were bring my book back to me?" Susan asked a little suspiciously.
"Well yeah, I thought it would be best, considering you know."
Susan. however did not know, so she waited for Lockhart to explain.
Lockhart however simply stood there with a big toothy smile obviously waiting for Susan to express her gratitude.
Just then Professor Sprout came around the corner.
"There you are Susan, oh for Merlin's sake Gilderoy you're not in this chapter."
"What's going on Professor?" Susan asked.
"They're waiting for you in the library dear you're in the story you know."
"It's not a Harem story is it?"
"Oh my goodness no"
"Marriage Contract?"
"I don't think so." Said Sprout frowning somewhat. "Anyway you had best hurry."
So Susan continued her trek to the library. When she got there saw Harry Potter sitting with his friend Hermione Granger. She walked over to them.
"Hey guy's what's up?"
"We just thought you might like to go on tonight's dangerous excursion with us." Hermione said.
"I would love to." Susan said. "Where are we going?"
Before anyone could answer Pansy Parkinson came up to the table.
"Hey Potter did you know Dumble's is a manipulating bastard whose been using you as a pawn this whole time?"
"I suppose you're going to tell him all about it and all about his untapped super powers. " Hermione remarked.
"Well he needs to know." Pansy said.
"PARKINSON! What the hell are you doing?"
"What does it look like Greengrass?"
"That's my role, I'm the one whose going to tell Harry about his Goblin Magic."
"Goblin magic? Harry you have Goblin Magic?" Ron asked excitedly. Susan thought for sure that Ron hadn't been there a moment before.
"Wow! That's awesome." said the Weasley twins.
For a brief moment Hermione wondered what Fred and George were doing in the library then moved on to the matter at hand.
"Harry does not have Goblin Magic." she said rolling her eyes.
"You're right about that Granger." Pansy said. "I swear Greengrass how thick can you get? It's House Elf Magic."
Hermione's head hit the table.
"Where do you get your information Parkinson?" Daphne asked. " My Great Grandmother knew Harry's Great Grandmother and told me all about it."
"All about what?" Harry asked.
"You're Great Grandfather Herman Mason once helped a goblin child who had gotten stuck in a tree. As thanks the child's family bestowed him with some of their magic and it's been passed down ever since."
"My Great Grandfather who?" Harry asked.
"Not your Great Grandfather, your Aunt Emily, she was your Grandmother's sister you know." Pansy started explaining.
Susan had a peculiar feeling that Harry didn't know.
"How does everyone know about my family." Harry asked.
"You're from a pureblood family Harry, at least on your dad's side." Luna said."It stands to reason that other pureblood families would know about it."
She turned to Pansy and Daphne."Has it occurred to either of you that both stories are true."
"Goblin-
"- and House Elf Magic!" the Weasley twins cried.
"Someone tell me the House Elf story." Harry said.
"I'd like to hear this." Ron said.
"There isn't a story it didn't happen." Hermione said getting exasperated.
"Hermione, if Harry has Goblin and House Elf Magic, that would make things so much easier." said Ron.
"I agree with that but he doesn't have Goblin or House Elf Magic." Hermione said throwing up her hands.
"Harry if you have House Elf Magic then you can apperate us to the Shrieking Shack." George said.
"Hey that's right." Fred said. "Come on everyone grab hold of Harry."
So Ron, Fred, George, Hermione and Susan all grabbed a part of Harry's robes, although Hermione felt rather foolish. Harry concentrated but nothing happened. He then realized he didn't know what to concentrate on.
"Be the House Elf Harry." Ron said.
That was too much for Hermione she let go and sat back down at the table.
Everyone else realized nothing was going to happen and very quickly let go of Harry.
"Why were we going to the Shrieking Shack anyway?" Susan asked.
"To fight You Know Who and the Death Eaters." Ron said.
Susan's eyes grew wide. "You Know Who is in the Shrieking Shack?!"
"We can send an owl and ask if they would rather meet in the Three Broomsticks." Fred said.
"We can't have the fight in The Three Broomsticks Rosmerta will kill us." George said.
"Really Fred." Harry said shaking his head. "Well lets go." he said heading for the door. Everyone followed.
'How are we going to get in there?' Tracey Davis who was Daphne Greengrass's best friend and had now joined the group asked.
"Secret passage under the Whomping Willow." Hermione said.
"There's not a secret passage under the Whomping Willow." Luna giggled."Everyone would know about it."
"Everyone doesn't know because it's a secret." Hermione said.
They made their way out the front doors and down to the Whomping Willow.
