" ...and the Evil Villain was never caught," James S. Potter finished ominously.
Rose Weasley gulped.
Albus Potter's eyes were wide with fear.
"How did he get away?" Hugo Weasley asked.
"Some say he's still out there, waiting for a chance to terrorize again."
"What type of stuff does he do?" Rose whispered.
"Curses the Chocolate Frog cards."
"What?"
"Yeah, you keep getting the same card over and over."
"You're just making that up," Albus said,
"And the Every Flavor beans," James continued as if Albus hadn't spoken, "He knows all the good ones, takes them all and leaves you with all the disgusting ones,"
"Wouldn't you notice?" Rose asked.
"Notice what?" James said.
"That the bag had been opened." Rose said with an exasperated sigh.
"Who said the bag was opened?"
Every one looked confused.
"Then how does he take all the good ones?" Hugo asked.
"Magic," James replied.
Every one groaned.
"Of course it's magic," Rose said. " But what kind of magic?"
"Vile, evil, dark magic," said James.
There was a knock on the cabin door.
"The cabin door? Are we on the Hogwarts Express then?" Rose asked.
"Of course we're on the Hogwarts Express," Albus said. "All of the next generation fics start out here."
"They do not." said Rose.
"Albus is right," said James. "They all start out here, I think it's a rule or something."
"Shouldn't we see who knocked on the door?" Hugo said.
Rose opened the door to reveal Scorpius Malfoy.
"Oh it's you," she said trying to act completely uninterested.
"What's up Stinger?" said James.
"Stinger?"
"It's your new really bad nickname for this story," James said.
"Don't listen to him Scorpo," said Albus. "What brings you here?"
"Scorpo!?" James laughed. "Oh yeah that's creative."
"We need to get back to the story," said Rose.
"What is it exactly that we're doing?" asked Scorpo.
"Hey!" James exclaimed.
"Oh come on James, your idea for a nickname was just silly," said Hugo.
"What do you mean?" Rose asked Scorpo.
"I mean is this a humor/romance? An adventure? Am I going to be in Gryffindor? Do I fall in love with Rose?"
" I think it's a mystery/suspense," Rose said rather quickly.
"Why do you think that?" Albus asked.
"Because there is a character called the Evil Villain, whose identity is unknown," Rose replied.
"Wait I thought we were just talking about the Evil Villain, I didn't know he was actually in the story," Hugo said looking very fearful.
"Or she is in the story," Rose said.
"The Evil Villain? My Aunt Daphne mentioned that once or twice," Scorpius said.
"Aunt who?" said James.
"Daphne, you know my mothers sister. Why is it that every story I'm in no one remembers that Daphne Greengrass is my aunt?"
"Maybe because no one remembers that Daphne's sister is your mother," Albus suggested.
"That's probably it," said Scorpius.
"What happens next?" Albus asked.
"I hope it's something different," said Scorpius.
"How about this," said James. "Rose, Albus, and Scorpius are sorted into Hufflepuff and become the Opal Trio."
"But we're already in third year," said Rose.
"We are?" Albus asked.
"Well yeah, Hugo is two years behind us, so if he's here we must be in third year."
"But then Lily should be here too," said Hugo.
Lily opened the door and walked in.
"Hello every one." she said cheerfully.
"Where have you been?" asked Albus.
"In a crossover with Percy Jackson."
"No, no I meant where have you been on the train."
"I haven't been on the train."
"I don't...never mind," Albus mumbled.
"So Lily," James said. "We were just thinking what if for the story you and Hugo get sorted into Slytherin."
"James you prat, no one was thinking that." Rose yelled.
"Oh come on Rose, that was pathetic." James said.
"What?"
"JAMES YOU PRAT, NO ONE WAS THINKING THAT. THAT'S HOW YOU YELL ROSIE."
"DON'T CALL ME ROSIE,"
"THAT'S BETTER, IF YOU'RE GOING TO YELL IN THESE STORIES FOR NO REASON YOU NEED TO DO IT PROPERLY."
Rose ignored James and turned to Lily. "Anyway no one suggested that you and Hugo get sorted into Slytherin.."
"Rose, Albus, and Scorp got sorted into Hufflepuff," James interrupted.
"No we did not," Albus said. "That was just one of your silly ideas."
"But you are in Hufflepuff, it's part of the story. You said you wanted something different." James smirked.
"How about if you're a squib?" Rose asked James. "That would be different."
"That's silly Rose, I wouldn't be on the train if I were a squib."
It was then that the trolley lady came by. Hugo bought some Chocolate Frogs and all the cards were of his dad.
"See it's already happening." James said.
Rose rolled her eyes. "The Evil Villain had nothing to do with that." she said.
"Oh, are we going to catch the Evil Villain?" Lily asked.
"First of all no one catches the Evil Villain, and second who is we? Do you have a Nargle in your pocket?" James said.
"That reminds me," said Lily as she reached in her pocket and pulled out a little brown owl.
"Herman!" shouted Scorpius. "We thought we had lost him. Why is he with you?" he asked Lily.
"He was in the story with me."
"Well I can see that."
"No not this story, the story I just finished."
"If Herman was in the story where was I?" Scorpius asked becoming very confused.
Rose slapped him on the back of the head.
"Ow!" he said "What was that for?" he asked glaring at Rose while rubbing his head.
"You know where you were, you were in a story with me, or did you forget?" Rose said as she narrowed her eyes.
Scorpius slapped his forehead "Of course I was in a story with you, where else would I have been?"
"Well now it seems we're going to be in another one," Rose beamed brightly.
Scorpius groaned.
"I thought we were going to do something different," Hugo said.
"Maybe we should wait and see what happens next," said Rose. "Maybe it will be different."
"I'm quite sure that what happens next is the train arrives at Hogsmeade Station." said James.
The trained arrived at Hogsmeade Station.
"Can we just skip the next couple of parts?" Lily asked.
"Then how will the readers know which house you've been sorted into?" James asked.
"But I've been sorted a gazillion times!" Lily pouted stamping her feet.
"We can't miss the feast," Hugo said.
Lily sighed. "Just like your dad," she said shaking her head.
"First years! Over here!" A friendly female voice called.
"Wonder why Hagrid isn't here?" Rose asked.
"Hey wait a minute," James said with a thoughtful look on his face.
"What is it?" asked Scorpius.
"You see those three owls flying towards the castle?"
"Yeah." every one said.
"Well think about it, Hugo gets a bunch of chocolate frog cards, all of his dad. Hagrid's not here, and there's three owls flying towards the castle."
Scorpius eyes grew wide as he realized what James was saying.
"That's not all," he said. "Right before I knocked on the compartment door, I saw a Ravenclaw sixth year buying five Pumpkin Pasties from the trolley lady."
Understanding now dawned on Hugo.
"Why didn't you say anything?" James asked.
Scorpius shrugged. "It seemed perfectly normal at the time, not something that you say 'Hey, guess what I just saw'?"
"I probably would have thought the same thing," Hugo said.
"So what do you think we should do?" James asked, turning to Rose.
Rose was looking at the three boys with an expression of complete confusion, but Lily was looking thoughtful.
"Do about what? What are you three talking about?" Rose asked.
"They're absolutely right, it can only mean one thing," Lily said.
"Mean what? Nothing they said had anything to do with the other."
"Did you confound yourself?" James asked.
"I can't do that spell yet." Rose said. "Anyway what are you guys talking about?"
"The plot to get rid of all the teachers and replace them with members of the Professional Gobstone Association." Scorpius said, with James, Hugo, Albus and Lily nodding along.
There was a long moment of silence as the pieces fell into place.
"THAT IS THE DUMBEST THING.."
Never mind.
"Hey," someone cried. "Your holding the story up, get in the boats, or in the carriages."
It was Neville Longbottom.
"Don't just stand here on the platform," he was saying then he abruptly stopped when he saw their faces.
"You've worked it out already haven't you?" he asked.
They all looked sheepish except Rose who was pulling her hair out.
"What's wrong with her?"
"She's not following along," said James. "But I don't know how much plainer we can make it."
"You know you're not suppose to work everything out from a bunch of random nonsense at the very beginning." Neville said.
"Yeah we know, we just got on a roll and one piece fell into another," James said.
"Yeah that happens I guess. Well best make the most of, maybe we can come up with a few surprises," said Neville.
"Lily and Hugo are going into Slytherin," James said.
"Again?" Neville replied.
"See, even Neville thinks its a dumb idea," said Rose.
"What do you mean, even Neville?" Neville asked.
"Oh, I didn't mean anything by it." Rose sputtered.
"Why did you work it out so fast?" Hugo asked James, cutting Rose off before she got started. Because if Rose got started who knows how long this chapter would be.
"We can pretend like I didn't," James said.
"Okay, lets do this," said Neville. "Pretend like you didn't see the three owls flying toward the castle, it doesn't make any sense without that."
"It doesn't make any sense anyway," Rose said throwing her hands in the air.
"Pretend we didn't see it? How do we do that?" Scorpius asked.
"I've got an idea," Lily said and raised her wand. "Obliviate!" she cried. Everyones faces went blank.
"Oh for Godrics sake!" Rose screamed. "That shouldn't work, she hasn't even learned the lumas spell yet."
"She's right," Albus said. "I still remember everything."
"How do you know?" asked Hugo.
"How do I know what?" Albus asked.
"How do you know you remember everything? Maybe what you remember isn't what happened."
"Is this still part of the story?" Scorpius asked.
"It could be," said Neville. "Let me ask someone."
"Hey Percy!" he shouted.
"What is it?" Percy yelled back.
"Do you know if this is still part of the story it seems as though we've skipped to the next generation era."
"We have? No wonder I don't recognize any of the students, I shouldn't even be here, I should be at the Ministry."
Neville turned back to the next generation kids. "Well that answers that, we're still in the story. Now it seems we're going to have to change the original plot."
"Not again," a voice said. Minerva McGonagall had arrived and looked exasperated.
"What has happened this time?" she asked looking around at them all.
"James solved the mystery," Neville replied.
McGonagall closed her eyes to keep her composure.
"Now why would you do that?"
"I really don't know," James replied sheepishly.
"Every one can come out now the pixie's out of the cage," McGonagall yelled.
"What is it now?" said Mad-Eye Moody.
"The mystery has been solved," McGonagall said.
"Ah very good," said Albus Dumbledore.
"What's good about it?" McGonagall asked.
"Well the mystery has been solved, that's always good, right?"
"Not if no one knew what the mystery was in the first place."
"Who said there was a mystery?" said Luna Lovegood.
"Oh, for Merlins sake," said Hermione Granger.
"What's the problem now?" said Severus Snape, rolling his eyes.
"Of course there was a mystery, all of the next generation fics are mysteries." said Harry Potter.
"That's not true, a lot of them are Scorose," said Luna.
"What on earth is Scorose?" asked McGonagall.
"It's combination of Scorpius Malfoys and Rose Weasleys names." said Albus Dumbledore.
"I'm sorry I even asked." said McGonagall.
"What exactly was the mystery, Minerva?" asked Professor Sprout.
"Something about replacing all the teachers with gobstones."
"What would be the point of that?"
"It wasn't exactly replacing them with gobstones." Rose said.
"I hate to interrupt this stimulating dialogue, but am I going to be needed?" asked Voldermort. "There's this Voldermort has a daughter story I'm suppose to be in."
"It doesn't look it," said Percy Weasley looking down at his clipboard. "According to this the Evil Villain is going to be here."
"Who's the Evil Villain? Never mind I have to get going," said Voldermort.
"Albus, do we know who the Evil Villain is?" asked McGonagall.
"I"m afraid we do not," replied Albus Dumbledore.
"The Evil Villain did not appear in this chapter." said Luna Lovegood. "But they are here, they have always been here. In this story and countless others."
