I'm back! After forever. Sorry about the delayed release but I literally rewrote and edited this chapter ten times before I was satisfied with the result. Third chapters are sort of like that for me; they're a transition point from intro to body. Normally I have trouble writing the first few chapters because I have NO IDEA WHERE THE STORY IS GOING. But surprisingly, I've been experimenting with a few different ideas and I'm having no trouble combining them. Since this is my first fic, it leaves plenty of room to experiment a little...which I LOVE!

So before I bore you guys anymore, here's Chapter Two of Learn.

Rated T for language (AKA don't nag about my use of curse words, don't read it if they bother you that much. I'm sure there are some cute little K+ fics out there for you if you can't handle big girl words :p)

Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon or any of the characters that aren't OCs

Dawn was pissed. Undeniably, unforgettably pissed. This was a rare feat; things rarely irked the young blunette. Her outlook on life was simple. Always be positive even when life hates you.

But life was more than hating her now. Life was slowly, painfully stabbing her to death.

And she had a a pretty solid suspicion that the boy in front of her wanted to do the exact same thing.

"For the last time," Paul bit out, "You don't divide by zero. Period."

Dawn threw her plum-haired tutor an annoyed look.

"I already know that! I just don't understand why you can't! Zero is probably feeling extremely left out right now."

"I'm not here to teach you why things work, I'm just here to teach you how."

"Well how the fuck am I supposed to learn how if I don't know WHY?"

Paul turned up the intensity of his glare. A few moments passed and Dawn carefully picked at her nails, her cobalt eyes occasionally meeting Paul's narrowed, onyx ones.

The boy sighed, rubbing his temples for a moment, muttering a few words to himself that Dawn suspected weren't very nice

. "Alright, let me put it this way. You have four lip gloss tubes and you want to divide it evenly into two groups. That gives you two in each group, correct?"

"I already told you. I know how to divide!" Dawn all but yelled. Paul grunted and continued.

"If you have four lip gloss tubes and want to divide them evenly into zero groups, it's not possible because you already have four existing tubes. You will always have at least one group of lip gloss tubes. Understand?"

Dawn simply nodded and rolled her eyes. "Thanks, but were the lip gloss tubes really necessary?"

"That's the only way you'd comprehend, Troublesome."

Dawn quirked a brow at her nickname. She could feel annoyance slowly build up inside her, like a volcano ready to explode with just the right trigger.

"Fine then, butterfly." She bit back, gathering her bags.

"Hn." He replied, unaffected. He started to walk out of the empty science lab.

"An antisocial butterfly, that is. That's the most I've heard you speak since you've been at the academy. And you've been here since kindergarten."

Paul ignored the jab and promptly walked out of the room.

Dawn huffed in annoyance. She really did not get people like him. Even so, Dawn found herself blushing lightly.

"I guess I really am an idiot." She laughed half-heartedly to herself. "It'd take one to fall in love with him."

As she gathered her things, she gave herself some time to think. It had been nearly a year since she had been in contact with the boy. Surely, she was supposed to have gotten over her tiny crush by now?

But no. The crush blossomed each day as she would steal glances at him in the hallway. He was surrounded by girls most of the time; cheerleaders who were desperate for his attention. She still didn't understand what about him was so appealing to her. Sure, he was hot and everything, but his face was always set in stone; no emotions, no anything to hint at the fact that he was a human and not a machine. If Paul ever showed any emotion, it was the purest form of annoyance.

He was also always extremely rude to her.

'At least he talks to me' Dawn thought bitterly as the only things she could pull out of her encounters with him were rude remarks and degrading comments. That was the main reason she wasn't so ecstatic about him being her tutor. Every time she talked to Paul, she felt like he was always looking down on her. And she was sick and tired of people looking down on her.

"You call me Troublesome, but you're the troublesome one." She muttered as she walked out of the room, trying to erase the boy from her mind. The hallway she walked down was fairly dark, with only a few dim lights flickering. Dawn checked the time on her phone and yelped.

"I'm going to be late for next period!" She quickly ran down the hallway and frantically into her English classroom which was, thankfully, nearby. As she slid into her seat, May gave her a questioning look from the seat next to her.

"Where were you at lunch?"

"Oh no, I totally missed lunch!" Dawn moaned in annoyance. May giggled softly.

"But seriously, where were you?"

Dawn's face switched to a look of annoyance immediately. "Paul is my new math tutor."

May's blue eyes grew wide. "Paul as in Paul Shinji?" The blunette nodded glumly and May let out a low whistle.

"I'm sorry, girl, that's rough."

"I know! He is such an assh-"

"Oh no..." May trailed off, staring straight past Dawn. Dawn blinked once and turned around in her seat. At first she saw nothing, just the normal sea of high schoolers in AP English, ranging from super smart Sophomores to Juniors like themselves.

"What is it May?" Dawn started to turn back to face her brunette friend when two extremely unusual colors caught her eye.

And she finally understood why May looked like she was about to throw up.

Dawn could already feel the bile making its way up her own throat.

Misty crouched behind the trash cans that were just outside the bathrooms on the second floor English wing of their school. Why?

Well why else does a teenage girl suspiciously hide behind inanimate objects? To stalk people.

Not that Misty would ever stalk anyone on purpose of course. That was immature and not fitting to her very matured personality. However, Misty was a teenager and that meant she liked to know things she wasn't necessarily supposed to know about.

Misty peered out above the rounded top of the blue trashcan and tried not to cringe as her hand brushed over a suspicious yellow substance. She stared straight ahead at the raven haired boy a few feet away. He was conversing with a few preppy Juniors who looked about ready to strip for him if he asked.

Which, Misty suspected, he never would since he seemed oblivious to the fact that the girls were practically oozing with sexual intent.

The redhead was, by no means, stalking the boy on purpose. She just happened to be walking down the hall when she spotted him and reflexively jumped behind the first thing she could find.

Which, unfortunately, had been a trashcan.

Misty, being the smart girl she was, figured that waiting for him to leave would be better than walking out from behind a trashcan and having to suffer ultimate embarrassment. Then, she figured that a little eavesdropping wouldn't hurt either, since he was now unknowingly her biggest rival.

"So, Ash," One blonde girl purred, "How are you so fast at running? I mean, what's your secret? You're practically a fire bolt!"

"You mean thunderbolt." Another petite blonde snapped. The first blonde rolled her eyes and muttered 'whatever.'

"Well," Ash began and Misty perked up a little, "I guess it just comes to me, you know?"

Misty deflated. Of course he wouldn't have a secret. She mentally berated herself for trying to find a secret she knew wouldn't benefit her in any way possible. She would have to strengthen herself with no one's help or it wouldn't count.

She smiled at her own realization. She would train and beat him, regaining her title as fastest runner in the school.

Beating that dense idiot will be a piece of cake. She thought, inwardly smirking and rising from her spot behind the trashcan.

"So, is this what you do for fun, Mist?"

Misty jumped at the realization that she was now fully standing and that Ash was no longer in front of her. As she turned around slowly, she realized he was standing right behind her.

And this time, Misty took note of how tall Ash really was. Though he couldn't be more than two inches taller than her 5"10 frame, he was almost intimidating, minus the goofy grin on his face.

"How..." Misty trailed off, mildly disturbed that Ash knew her name. Ash raised an eyebrow and gave her a small smile.

"How do I know your name? Well you are the student council president. I figure most people know who you are."

Misty mentally slapped herself. Of course that's how he knew her, it's not like he was stalking her.

"The real question is, what were you doing stalking me?"

"I wasn't stalking you!" Misty all but shouted, her face reddening. "I was...I was inspecting the condition of the school's sanitation system. You know, president duties and all."

"Really? You have to inspect trash cans?" Ash's face looked perplexed and Misty sighed in relief. The idiot really believed her.

"Um, yes. It's part of my job." She looked away nervously and cleared her throat. Ash was now hysterically laughing.

"M-mist, you look so rough and tough but in reality, you inspect trash cans for fun?" He hooted in laughter and nearly doubled over.

"I just told you it's my job!" Misty screeched.

Ash stopped laughing and smiled brightly at her.

"You have a free period now right? Lets hang out, you're funny!"

Before Misty could protest she found herself being dragged away by a still laughing Ash.

How did she manage to get herself into these situations?

"Class, please welcome Kay Givens and Jason Wilde. They will be in this class every Monday from now on."

The enthusiastic English teacher, Ms. Phoebe, was met with a few grumbles and dreamy sighs from various girls.

Kay flipped his obnoxiously bright pink hair and smirked. Jason simply threw everyone cold glares from underneath his thick cut, teal hued hair.

While half the girls in the class were swooning, May and Dawn had managed to slip out of the room's back door before anyone took notice. Both looked ready to hurl at any given moment and neither could speak out of shock.

"Do you think we should tell them?" May asked quietly, after they had walked quite a distance away from the English room. Dawn looked at the brunette warily.

"I have a feeling if Leaf and Misty knew, they would jump into that classroom right now and murder them." She brushed a lock of navy blue hair out of her face and sighed. "Not that I would mind..."

"I don't think I can go back in there, ever. There is no way in hell." May stalked over to a bench in the hallway and sat down, cradling her head in her hands. Dawn joined her and soon they were both sitting in complete silence, each wondering what to do next.

It was just their luck that Leaf happened to pass by that exact bench at that exact moment.

"Hey...guys?" Leaf stopped to look at her friends. "Don't you two have English right now?"

"Yeah..." May trailed off nervously. Leaf wiggled her way in between the two girls and sat down on the bench.

"What's wrong? Did anything happen?"

May and Dawn remained silent, exchanging small glances. Leaf was starting to worry.

"Guys! What the hell happened?"

May started to speak quietly, "Well...um there are two new students in English."

"And they just happened to be named Kay and Jason." Dawn finished, carefully scanning Leaf's face.

It took a few minutes for the words to register, but when they did Leaf looked about ready to explode.

"Don't tell me it's them." She bit out through clenched teeth. "I will fucking kill them." Leaf got up abruptly and started to walk. It took both May and Dawn to sit her back down on the bench before she could walk any further and rip the two boys apart.

"Calm down Leaf! Killing them isn't going to help anything." May pleaded with Leaf. The last thing she wanted was to cause a scene and have all four of them expelled.

"May's right! We should go to the headmaster and ask him. Those two are supposed to be expelled." Dawn released her grip on Leaf's shoulder and helped her up from the bench. The three girl started to walk towards the stairs that led to the headmaster's office.

"Why do you think they came back?" May said after about a minute of complete silence. The brunette's usually lively and kind face looked tired and worn out and her sapphire blue eyes were downcast.

Leaf put a hand on May's shoulder. "It's okay May, everything will be fine. We just have to talk to the headmaster Oak and straighten this all out."

"I hope for all of us that you're right." Dawn muttered as they approached the office. As the three girls walked in they nearly ran over a panting heap on the floor.

"Gary?!" Leaf screeched as she almost stepped on said boy's leg. Gary looked up from his position on the carpeted floor and smirked.

"Leafy! Just the person I wanted to see! Will you go on a date with me?" Leaf blinked and promptly kicked Gary in the shin.

"No way in hell. I'm not helping you get another girl jealous, last time that happened was a disaster."

"Oh come on, it wasn't that bad." Gary pleaded.

"She came home with a black eye and torn clothing. I'd say it was pretty bad." Dawn piped in and glared at Gary. May suppressed a giggle at the look on the auburn haired boy's face.

"Well, maybe it isn't to get a girl jealous this time! Maybe I just want to go out with you!"

Leaf snorted.

"Bull. Shit."

"Gary, I thought I told you to leave this office five minutes ago." A voice rang out from behind the girls. They turned around to see their headmaster, the aging Professor Oak, walk into the room. He smiled at the girl and said a brief hello before turning to glare at the now standing Gary.

"Leave." He ordered.

"But Grandpa!"

Professor Oak sighed and ran a hand through his graying brown hair. "Gary I will give you to the count of five to leave this office or you're grounded."

"You wouldn't. I have a date with Leaf this Saturday!" Gary yelled.

"Five."

"No you fucking don't!" Leaf yelled back to him, kicking him in the shin harder.

"Four. One. Gary, out!" Professor Oak pointed to the door and watched as Gary shuffled out of the office, dejected. The aging Professor turned back to the girls and smiled.

"So, girls, what can I help you with?"

"What are Kaye Givens and Jason Wilde doing back in school?" Dawn cut straight to the point. Professor Oak sighed, and motioned for the girls to sit in the four chairs around his desk.

"Have a seat girls. This could take a while."

May pulled her knees together as she sat on her windowsill with a cup of hot cocoa. Her chestnut brown hair hung in wet clumps down her back and she wore a white cotton tee shirt with red, teddy bear print pajama pants. She sighed, recalling the days events, in particular the talk with Headmaster Oak.

"So they're only going to be in school for one day of the week?" Leaf frowned, trying to process the information.

"Yes. It's our school's shadow program. Students from other schools that excel in a certain subject may shadow that class for a day of the week over a semester. If the board approves of them, they can enroll in the school the following semester." Professor Oak sipped at the cup of black coffee in his hands.

"But I thought they were expelled!" Dawn looked like she would get sick at any moment.

"There was no rule that said they would not be able to shadow and if the board decides to let them back into school for Senior year, there is nothing I can do about it." Professor Oak said firmly but his eyes were full of worry as the girls nodded, obviously upset with his answer.

"May, Dawn." He said gently, "I'll make sure they don't get near you. What happened two years ago will not happen again."

Despite Professor Oak's words, May couldn't help but feel several chills run through her body as she thought about seeing the two every Monday.

Why were they back now?

She took another sip of her cocoa and tried to think about something else, but her mind always went back to either them or Drew. And thinking about him was even worse.

May took a blanket off of her bed and wrapped it around herself. Much like the Kay and Jason, Drew had somehow managed to wiggle his way back into her life this semester. Not only did he transfer to her homeroom, she started to notice the chartreuse haired boy everywhere. She hadn't even realized how close their lockers were before. Everywhere she turned today, she had seen him. In the lunchroom, sitting at her usual table, his seat somehow moved closer to the back in her Physics class. He was starting to become more apparent in her life.

And May did not like it at all.

She felt her eyes travel down to the ground and she saw him standing there talking to a girl. As much as she tried not to, the brunette felt herself staring at Drew a little longer than she should have. May was no idiot and had to admit that he had filled out quite nicely in the few years she hadn't talked to him. If she thought he was attractive in middle school, he was beyond that now. His hair was just the way she remembered it; silky, the most beautiful shade of green, and full. He was tall and lightly tanned, even in the dead of winter. His voice was a lot deeper and reminded her of melted chocolate and most of all, his eyes. Emerald green eyes accompanied with long, dark eyelashes that twinkled every time he smiled. The smile that could make anyone do as he pleased.

May blushed at her thoughts and quickly closed her curtains before she could stare anymore. She hopped down from her windowsill and stretched, trying to shake thoughts of Drew from her mind. Misty walked into the room at that moment and sat down on May's bed.

"Hey May." The redhead said happily. May smiled at sat next to her.

"Hey Misty."

She listened as Misty relayed the events of her run in with Ash Ketchum to her and couldn't help but giggle at Misty's flushed face.

"And he dragged me. Dragged me of all people! I didn't know whether to slap him or go along with it just to humor him." Misty said excitedly.

"I think he likes you." May added in slyly, watching Misty grow red.

"He does not like m-"

"Misty!" Leaf hollered, barreling into the room and jumping on the bed, tackling both May and Misty in the process. "Why didn't you tell me you had a crush?!"

"I don't like him!" Misty screeched. Dawn walked into the room and joined their heap on the bed.

"That's right. You looooove him!" Leaf said, smirking. Dawn giggled happily.

"Misty has a cru-ush! Misty has a cru-ush!" The blunette chanted childishly.

May watched her three friends tease and bicker and couldn't help the large smile that spread across her face. She didn't need to worry about Kay, Jason, or Drew. All she needed were these three girls to help her through for just another year and a half before college. They would make it together.

Leaf stopped for a moment and stared at May who was missing from their tangle of limbs. She smirked and pulled May into the mess and all thoughts of anything else disappeared.

Sorry if this chapter sounds rushed, but I was trying my best to get it done and posted. I also want to clear some things up that I think may confuse you.

1. Their school is a boarding school. Boarding starts seventh grade, before that they live with their parents. They live in boarding houses with four other students and that's how the girls met each other. They knew each other before too, but hadn't really become close until they were boarded together. They each have their own rooms with bathrooms and they share a kitchen, living room, and dining room.

2. This school runs from pre school all the way to 12th grade, so some people here have known each other forever. There are roughly 1000 to 1200 students in the high school overall so it isn't a super large population but the school itself is huge.

Thanks for reading! I hope you liked this chapter and if you have any suggestions please don't hesitate to put them down, I appreciate feedback!
