"Why are we stopping?" I asked as he led me into the park. We had stopped for tea and it was just beginning to get darker now "Jack I am tired, can't we just go home?"

He shook his head. "Just let's have a few minutes."

"Jack where are you taking me?" I asked as he led me behind the trees in the corner of the park.

He kissed my hand and held it in his "When you disappeared I searched for you in here and instead I found something I think you will like"

"Is it far?" I asked "My feet are aching"

He flashed that smile that makes me go weak in the knees. He covered my eyes. "No it's not and you are going to love it, trust me"

I could just imagine his lovely brown eyes looking like pools of melted hot chocolate sucking me in. "It's a good job I love you Jackson Brewer"

He laughed. We walked slower for another few minutes, Jack guiding me over tree roots and leaves. Then eventually we stopped.

"We are here" he announced, removing his hands from my eyes. "Now this is what I call paradise"

I needed a few minutes to take it in. It was beautiful now it was dark. It was a small pond hidden behind all of those trees, lit up by thousands of fireflies. It was so pretty. It was pretty close to paradise I had to admit.

"What do you think?" He asked as he led me over to a bench and helped me to sit down. He didn't join me like I expected, instead he sat down next to my aching feet, took off my dolly shoes and massaged my feet.

"Its lovely Jack it can be our own special place" I kissed the top of his head. "The foot rub isn't half bad"

"Ha ha!" Jack said. "We've not had much time together have we?"

"i guess not but so much has changed"

He stopped rubbing and sat beside me, he took my hand again. "i love you, nothing will ever change that I can promise you that"

I smiled "Of course I love you too but tell me something I don't know" I laughed.

Jack rubbed the back of his head. His smile disappeared, replaced by a guilty face "Well actually there is something that I've not been..."

His phone rung cutting him off "Sorry it's Milton"

He got up and walked a few paces away from me.

I shook my head, what did he want to tell me? What didn't I know? I stood up and went to the edge of the pond and dipped my feet into the cool water while I waited for my boyfriend.

I dipped my fingers into the water too and drew patterns on the surface.

Finally Jack put the phone down and came to join me.

"What did he want?"

Jack looked panicked "Who?" he kissed the top of my head.

"Milton you know our friend quite skinny, know it all wears glasses?"

"oh yeah, he was just asking where we are. Come to think of it, it is getting late we should be getting back" Jack said holding his hand to me.

I hesitated. I didn't want to leave paradise. It was just us, being alone it was nice and relaxed and I forgot about absolutely everything.

"Come on you did say you were tired" Jack reminded me.

"I know but I had a lovely time" I said trying to stifle a yawn.

"Okay so how about we come back tomorrow in the daytime?" He suggested.

I took his hand and he helped me to my feet. "Maybe we can bring a picnic or something" I said as we walked out of the park.

I felt dead on my feet by the time we got back to Jack's. We had barely made it up Jack's driveway before Milton had the door wide open.

"Come on you two where have you been?" he asked with his folded across his chest. "Actually don't answer I've been hosting the police for the past hour"

I looked at Jack. He shrugged his shoulders as we followed Milton into the living room.

"Kim, Jack" Sam said.

"Hi sorry we kept you waiting I wasn't aware you had come round" I said.

"Sorry but it wasn't planned" Sam explained "Please sit I have something important to tell you and it can't wait"

"What is it?" I asked.

Sam got up and sat next to me to the sofa. "I'm sorry Kim but Max... the evidence fell through we had no choice but to let him go"

I turned to Jack before she could say anything else. "Before in the park when you said you had something to tell me that was it wasn't it?" I asked Jack.

He didn't say anything else.

"Jack!" I shouted. "Please you wanted to tell me that didn't you?"

He didn't reply.

I sighed. "Thank you Sam for letting me know but I am really tired I am going to bed"

Jack got up to help me up. I ignored his hand and got up myself even if it took me an extra minute. After all I am pregnant but not helpless.

"Alone!" I snapped.
