Chapter Thirteen
War is Upon Us
Once they disappeared from sight taking off towards the armory looking for anything that was suitable to wear. I am not about to let the ones I love die for some stupid treasure. Out of the corner of my eye noticing Bilbo sneaking back into Erebor. He told me that he was going to Dale last night he must have just returned. "Bilbo what news have you brought?" Asking him quickly.
"I have done something that might make Thorin very angry at me. I will not tell you so you won't receive his wrath." Going to the wall carefully staying behind the others so they wouldn't see us.
Watching as Bard and Thranduil came to stand in front of their army at the base of the mountain. Thorin shot a warning arrow at their mounts feet. "I will put the next one between your eyes." He warned them. Then the elf archers readied their bows and arrows ready to let them fly at us. Holding onto Bilbo's hand squeezing it showing me that he was nervous as well.
Thranduil stopped the attack as they placed there weapons back into resting places. Letting out a breath which I did not know I was holding. "We have come to tell you payment of your debt has been offered and accepted." The king Elf's baritone voice sounded.
"What payment? I gave you nothing. You have nothing." Thorin called their bluff. But they weren't bluffing as Bard pulled out a jewel. The jewel we had been searching for all this time.
"Bilbo what have you done?" whispering softly for only him to hear.
"What I thought was right," whispering back.
"We have this." Bard showed them all the stone.
"They have the Arkenstone. Thieves! How came you by the heirloom of our house?" Kili shouted down. "That stone belongs to the king!"
"And the king may have it with our good will." Bard tossed it in the air then placed it back in his jacket. "But first he must honor his word."
"They are taking us for fools. This is a ruse. A filthy lie. The Arkenstone is in this Mountain! It is a trick!" Thorin shouted. Bilbo let go of my hand going up to him.
"It's no trick. The stone is real. I gave it to them." Standing in front of everyone as they stared at him.
"You?" Thorin questioned.
"I took it as my 14th share."
"You would steal from me?"
"Steal from you? No. No, I may be a burglar, but I like to think I'm an honest one. I'll let it stand against my claim." He was standing up to Thorin but I could tell the gears were starting to turn and Thorin started getting hostile.
"Against your claim?" He smiled, "your claim." Starting to advance on the poor hobbit. "You have no claim over me, you miserable rat!" Slamming his weapon down.
"I was going to give it to you. Many times I wanted to, but…"
"But what thief?"
"You are changed, Thorin. The Dwarf I met in Bag End would never have gone back on his word. Would never have doubted the loyalty of his kin!" Bilbo shouted at the dwarf king.
"Do not speak to me of loyalty. Throw him from the rampart!" Thorin shouted. Stepping forward to fight off anyone who would do such a thing. But no one dared to try. Looking around seeing no one grabbing him he grabbed Fili. "Did you not hear me?" Fili wrenched himself out of his uncle's grasp catching him off guard. Looking back at Bilbo then deciding, "I will do it myself. Curse you!" Grabbing Bilbo as the others tried to grab Thorin.
"No!" Fili shouted. Stepping in front of Bilbo to block him from Thorin only to be slapped away. Slapping me so hard landing on my back with the corner of my lip bleeding.
"Cursed be the Wizard that forced you on us!" Thorin shouted trying to push him over the side of the gate.
"If you don't like my burglar then please don't damage him. Return him to me." Gandalf appeared in front of the army as Thorin watched him. "You're not making a very splendid figure as King under the Mountain are you, Thorin son of Thrain?"
Thorin let go of Bilbo as Fili grabbed him pulling him away from Thorin as Gandalf distracted him from the earlier task. Bofur hurried him away for his own safety.
"Never again will I have dealings with Wizards! Or Shire rats!" Thorin shouted angrily down at Gandalf.
"Are we resolved?" Bard asked. "The return of the Arkenstone for what was promised?" We stared at Thorin as he stared off into the horizon. "Give us you answer. Will you have peace or war?" A bird flew up to Thorin as he smiled as the bird clucked to him.
"I will have war." Thorin stated as rumbling could be heard as a dwarf army came into view. This was not going to be pretty.
"Who's that?" Asking Bofur standing next to him as we watched a dwarf on the back of a boar.
"Dain, Lord of the Iron Hills. Thorin's cousin." He explained. Oh great.
"Good morning. How are we all? I have a wee proposition if you wouldn't mind giving me a few moments of your time. Would you consider just sodding off?" He shouted. "All of you! Right now!"
"Come now, Lord Dain." Gandalf stepped forward.
"Gandalf the Grey. Tell this rabble to leave, or I'll water the ground with their blood!"
"There is no need for war between Elves, Men and Dwarves. A legion of Orcs march on the mountain. Stand your army down." Gandalf warned.
"I will not stand down before any Elf. Not least this faithless Woodland sprite. He wishes nothing but ill upon my people." He pointed at Thranduil.
Turning away from everyone heading deeper into the mountain towards the Armory. If Gandalf is true to his words of an Orc army then all must be ready to fight. Finding some armor that just fit and weapons that I could carry easily. Rushing out of the armory seeing that the others were just sitting there while their friends and kin fight the battle.
"What are you doing? Why aren't you fighting! Why are you all just sitting here letting people die out there!" Shouting at them. Hearing foot steps behind me looking back seeing Thorin coming up to us. Kili stood up facing his uncle as he got closer.
"I will not hide behind a wall of stone while others fight our battles for us!" Kili shouted standing next to me. "Ali is right. It is not in my blood, Thorin."
"No. It is not. We are sons of Durin. And Durin's Folk do not flee from a fight." He looked at Kili placing his head on his. Then looked to me giving me one as well. "You will fight alongside us?" Nodding my head looking at him.
"As my father would have wanted me to." He smiled placing his hand on my shoulder. Taking Kili's hand making him look at me. Looking back taking Fili's as well. "I will fight for my kin." Whispering to them so they wouldn't tell me otherwise.
"I have no right to ask this of any of you. But will you follow me one last time?" He asked lifting all of our weapons showing him that we were ready to fight.
Quickly gathering at the gate Bombur blew a horn sounding our arrival to the battle. "Promise me one thing Ali that we will meet again after the battle."
"Of course. I love you!" Shouting as the bell broke open the gate and we shouted running towards battle. Fighting the foul smelling creatures when I noticed that Thorin, Fili, Kili and Dwalin were on the backs of Giant Rams. Kili came riding over to me throwing my hand out to him grabbing it pulling me behind him as we rode with the others.
"Where are we going?" Shouting behind him.
"To take out Azog!" Nodding hanging on to him and slicing at the enemy as we went to where the leader was. Fighting and killing orcs that stood in our path.
Slaying the last few orcs up there something eerie took its place. Everything was silent. Not a sound was heard.
"Where is he?" Kili asked. Looking around not seeing anything but clouds. Something is off. "It looks empty."
"I think Azog has fled." Fili replied.
"No something isn't right. I can feel it." Whispering as the hairs on my neck rose.
"I don't think so." Thorin announced. "Fili take your brother. Scout out the towers. Keep low and out of sight. If you see something report back. Do not engage. Do you understand?"
"We have company." Dwalin called out.
"Goblin mercenaries." Thorin announced. "No more than a hundred. We'll take care of them. Go!"
"Ali stay safe." Kili stated before running off with Fili. Standing my ground helping Dwalin and Thorin fight off the goblins. Engaging in one of the goblins as it cut my cheek as I barely missed its weapon. Turning around slicing its head clean off which turned out to be the last one.
"Where is that orc filth?" Dwalin sneered.
"Thorin." Looking over seeing that it was Bilbo. He was out of breath as if he just ran all the way here.
"Bilbo."
"You have to leave here. Now. Azog has an army attacking from the North. This watchtower will be completely surrounded. With no way out." Bilbo warned us.
"We are so close. That orc scum is in there." Dwalin pointed to the towers." I say we push on."
"No. that's what he wants. He wants to draw us it. This is a trap." Thorin looked at the towers.
"Kili," whispering looking where everyone else looked.
"Find Fili and Kili. Call them back." He instructed Dwalin.
"Thorin, are you sure about this?"
"Do it. We'll live to fight another day." Turning away to head back when drums began to beat. Looking behind us then up seeing fire and there was Azog holding Fili by the hair.
"Fili!" Shouting in horror.
Azog spoke to us in his grotesque language.
"Run!" Fili shouted then Azog plunged his weapon through his chest. Dropping him to the ground landing with a sickening thud.
"No!" Screaming running towards the tower passing by just as Azog attacked Thorin. Reaching Fili's lifeless body tears ran down my face. "Fili. Open your eyes. Please come back you, Kili and I are supposed to get married and start a family. Come back!" Feeling a hand on my shoulder making me look up.
"Kili will need you lass. Go help him." Dwalin said. Placing a kiss on his forehead getting up to find Kili.
Running up the towers fighting anyone that came at me. Running around a rock I seeing Tauriel had come to our aid. "Kili!" We both shouted trying to find where he was.
"Ali! Tauriel!" He shouted back.
Looking around just as Bolg came out of nowhere attacking Tauriel. "Tauriel!" Shouting as Bolg came out of nowhere. We attacked him at the same time. Only grabbing on to the both of our arms swinging us into the other knocking our heads. My vision swam for a moment. Hearing her chocking seeing that he held her by the throat. Running over to the rock jumping off it pushing all my weight into his back to let her go just as she kicked his leg sending him down to his knee.
Grabbing her off his back throwing her like she was nothing but a fly he flicked. Trying to catch her only the force knocked both of us into the wall. Getting the brunt of the force as the wind was knocked out of me. Bolg rushed us raising his weapon ready to attack only Kili attacked from above.
Kili landed on his back attacking him but Bolg grabbed him. Tauriel and I both attacked him only he threw us off again. Landing on my back as I was getting up my eyes landed on what was happening. Bolg smiled a gruesome smile as he plunged his weapon it into Kili. My heart shattered into a million pieces as I watched the love of my life die right before my eyes.
Getting up pointing my sword and rushing him. Our weapons clashed tears streaming down my face. Head butting me causing me to stumble dropping my sword. Grabbing me by the throat throwing me into the wall. Landing with a sickening crunch he stepped on me crushing my ribs. Screaming in pain looking over at Kili's lifeless body. "Ki…li…" Trying to reach him until Bolg stabbed me the same way Kili was. Staring up into the sky as everything went white.
"My darling daughter you fought so well. Rest well dear one. Everything will be alright." A familiar voice sounded in the distance. Then white faded to black and the sense of falling occurred.
Opening my eyes overlooking the river behind my apartment building staring down at the water. Shaking my head not knowing why I was on the bridge. Looking down at my watch noticing that I was going to be late for my meeting with my boss's sons running to my car. Heading to the restaurant where we are scheduled to me.
Parking my car walking into the restaurant looking around seeing two men, one with long brown hair pulled back in a ponytail, stubble upon his face making him look incredibly hot. The other had long hair as well but was blond and had a blond beard. Stepping up to them clearing out my throat as they turned around giving me each a killer smile. "You must be Alison Donahue?" The blond said holding out his hand to me.
"Yes I am. But you can call me Ali." Taking his hand as he kissed the back of it. A spark seem to run through our hands traveling up my spine then down to my feet. The brunette did the same thing and again the spark traveled through me.
"I am Fillip and this is my brother Killian. But you can call us Fili and Kili." Going over to a table ordering our lunch. Spending time to get to know each other. Something just felt right with them.
Spending two hours just talking about our past almost as if we had been friends for a very long time. "I know this is weird to say but it feels like I have already known you both."
"Not weird at all. We feel it too." Kili smiled making me shiver in pleasure. Fili as well.
"I know this would sound rather odd. But would you like to go out with us again?" Kili asked. Smiling I nodded as we walked out of the restaurant hand in hand.
"Will it sound weird if we were to say that we both find you rather adorable?" Fili asked. Blushing as they both smiled at me.
"Not at all. There is just something about you both that have me like both equally." Taking both my hands we walked out of the restaurant hand in hand in hand. Two hotties and they are brothers. This looks to be the start of something very exciting. Never dated brothers before. Let's see where this leads us.
