Chapter twenty three- Did I am sick?
"Zero! Zero! Open your eyes, Zero!" screams Ichiru while he hold Zero's body close to him. He slaps Zero's cheek a few times but still no reaction.
"What happen?" ask Yuuki worried. She so shocked when he saw Zero fainted. Zero never get sick before, that's why she worried.
"He fainted. We should bring him in and ask Chairman to get a doctor," say Ichiru while he pick Zero up bridal-style. That the easiest way and Zero is not that weight. He run into the house. It's good that they not that far from the house.
"Chairman!" shout Yuuki while she run to get his adopted father in the kitchen.
"W… what happen Yuuki? Why are you in such a hurry? Don't you already go to school with Ichiru?" ask Chairman Cross in confusion. Yuuki don't answer his question and she pull his hand out from the kitchen. That little act make him more confuse and nervous.
"Zero. He… he fainted when we meet him." Yuuki said. She panted when she stand next to Ichiru who hold Zero.
When he hear that, Chairman Cross rush to Ichiru and take a good look at Zero. Yeah, Zero is really pale and unconscious in Ichiru's hold. He hold Zero's pulse and then he bring his hand on Zero's forehead. Everything is normal. "Quick, bring him to his room. I need to check on his condition."
They enter the room and Ichiru put Zero on his bed. This is the first time he saw Zero fall sick like this because Zero is the strongest among them. "What should we do?" ask Ichiru to the Chairman Cross when he saw Chairman Cross examine Zero's condition.
"Is Zero gonna be okay? I don't want him to asleep like before. We should call a doctor," say Yuuki almost crying.
"I am not sure about that. We need to wait. And I forgot to ask him, if he takes his blood regularly. That can be one of the cause because he can't drinks blood tablets. That what make it worse," say Chairman Cross while he wrapped Zero's body with the blanket.
Ichiru speechless when he hear that. He almost forgot that Zero is a vampire. Zero never show him his vampire side and Zero live almost like a human. And in this fast three week, never once he saw Zero drinks a blood. Or at least, not in front of him. Now he wonders, who feeding Zero his blood all this time? There is no way a vampire can live without a blood, don't they? And a level D especially. But when he thinks about it, the vampire in the Moon Dormitory doesn't drinks blood but they drink that blood pill which Zero can't stomach.
"If he don't wake up this evening, we need to call a doctor," say Chairman Cross.
"Why don't we call they doctor now?" ask Yuuki. If they can call the doctor now, why must they wait until evening?
"Zero need a vampire doctor. A human doctor can't do anything with his condition right now. So we need to wait until evening so we can call a doctor. The vampire don't go out in the day light," say Chairman Cross calmly. He need to call Yagari Touga quickly to report Zero's condition or Yagari will get mad at him if he knows later.
"Err… can I ask you something?" ask Ichiru hesitate. Yuuki and Chairman Cross look at him.
"Who Zero feed on before?" ask Ichiru. He just need to know the answer. He never ask Zero this question before.
Yuuki just smile a little. "He had feed on me before."
"Did he still feed on you?" ask Ichiru. He want to know because he never saw Yuuki with a bite mark when he is here. And never once he smell Yuuki's blood on Zero.
Yuuki smile faded slightly. "No. He don't feed on me anymore. I don't know why, but… maybe he had someone else to feed on. And I don't know who." Actually she is worried if Zero does that because he don't want to hurt her. But, Zero never once tell her who he feed on. As long as it's not a day class students, she thinks that it's okay.
"Oh." Ichiru silent. Zero is so secretive.
"Why did you ask, Ichiru?" ask Yuuki. She look at Ichiru with a wide eyes.
"I just want to know because, never once I saw him drinks a blood when I am here. I am almost forgotten that he was a vampire. To think that he don't feed on you anymore, I want to know who he feed on to. It is a human or a vampire," say Ichiru while he lean on the wall. It's hard to figure Zero feed on vampire because Zero hates them and there is no way Zero will feed on human because Zero will never hurt a human and the vampire is a secret within a school ground. And Chairman Cross had forbid the vampires from prey on day class students.
Yuuki and Chairman Cross fall silent when they hear that. They never once think like that.
"Anyway, we are late already. Don't you need to go to school, chairman?" ask Ichiru. He want to change the subject.
"Oh, yeah. I need to go to school. I had a meeting this morning!" Chairman Cross almost screaming.
"You too, Yuuki. You need to go to school," say Ichiru when he saw that Yuuki don't move from her spot.
"If I go to school, who's gonna take care of Zero? We can't leave him alone right now." Yuuki refuse to go to school for now. What if Zero needs anything when he wakes up?
"Don't worry. I will take care of Zero. I always fall sick when I am young so I know how to take care of the sick person. And if he want to eat anything, I can cook for him. And you are a perfect, Yuuki. What's going to happen if no perfect in school today?" say Ichiru make Yuuki silent. Yeah, if Yuuki take care of Zero, she don't know what's going to happen when Ichiru and Chairman Cross get back from school that evening.
"Okay. I will go. Please take good care of him, Ichiru." Yuuki glance at Zero for a while before she walk out from that room with Chairman Cross behind her.
"Okay, don't worry Yuuki," Ichiru give his guarantee.
It's already 4 in the evening but Zero still doesn't awake from his sleep except that afternoon. It was only temporary. Not even a minute. Ichiru always check on Zero every hour to make sure that Zero is okay. He smile a little when he remember that Zero always take good care of him when they were young. Now it's time for him to take care of Zero when he sick. If he give Zero his blood, will Zero wake up from his sleep? He doubt that.
Ichiru feel sleepy after a few hours he take care of Zero so he lay down next to Zero. He will wake up in an hour to check on Zero, again. Because he is so exhausted, he don't realize that Chairman Cross has come back to check on them. Chairman Cross smile widely when he saw that. A precious moment between a twin. He remember something and quickly he run to his room to get his camera and running back to Zero's room to take a picture of Zero and Ichiru sleeping while hugging each other. He will wash the photo and show it to everyone. Especially Zero and Ichiru. Yuuki must be happy and he will show this picture to Kaname while at it. After he make sure that Zero and Ichiru is okay, he return to his office at school.
Yuuki yawn a little when the school bell rang. As always, she sleep in the class. She glance at her friend, Sayori.
"What's time now, Yori?" ask Yuuki, sleepy.
"It's almost 5 pm. Class is over already," say Sayori while she glance at his watch.
When she hear that, Yuuki almost screaming. She don't mean to sleep that long. She thought that she want to go back to her house to check on Zero because she need to guard a night class after this. She sighed. She still had 30 minutes before she need to go to the Moon Dormitory gate. She need to meet the chairman.
"I am sorry, Yori. I need to meet Chairman Cross for a while. See you later. Maybe I won't be back to our room tonight because Zero is sick," say Yuuki quickly grab his things and run out from the classroom.
Yori just look at her friend, quietly. She know that Yuuki is busy as a student and as a perfect.
Yuuki run to the chairman office and knock the door before he enter the office. After she hear chairman voice, she enter the room. She quickly walk to Chairman Cross.
"Chairman, how's Zero? Is he okay? Ask Yuuki, impatiently.
Chairman Cross sighed slowly. "I have already checked on him, he is fine. But, we still need to call a doctor to check on him. And I already tell Yagari. Maybe he will be here soon. After all, Zero is his beloved student. Yuuki, please go meet Kaname and ask him to call the doctor to our house soon." Chairman Cross give a little small to his daughter.
"Okay. I go now." Yuuki nodded her head and quickly run out from chairman office. It take her 10 minutes to go to the Moon Dormitory. She sighed when she saw the gate is full of day class students. However, she don't pay any attention to them this time and she quickly run to meet the gatekeeper to ask the permission to enter the Moon Dormitory. The gatekeeper gives her the permission to enter after he saw Yuuki because he know that Yuuki is a perfect and the chairman daughter. After say her thanks to the gatekeeper, she quickly enter the Moon dorm.
She walk quickly to the front door without pay any attention to the vampires which gather around the gate after she enter. It's time to go to the class after all. So no wonder, there is so many vampires around here. Before she can grab the door knob, the door is opened from the inside.
"Yuuki." Kaname greet Yuuki after the door is open. He can sense Yuuki from a far and he frowned when he sense that Yuuki walk into the Moon Dormitory. "What are you doing here, Yuuki?" ask Kaname with a gentle voice.
Yuuki quickly enter the Moon dorm after she hear Kaname's voice. She saw Kaname, Takuma, Aidou, Shiki, Kain, Ruka and Rima in the living room and ready to leave anytime. But, she don't have time to waste so she walk to Kaname straightly. Kaname frowned. He look around if Zero is here but he can't sense him. Why did Yuuki come to this dangerous place alone without Zero?
"Kaname-senpai. I have a favor to ask you. Please give me a few minutes," say Yuuki. There is no time to feel ashamed as usual. She only thinks of Zero this time, nothing else. But still, her eyes can't leave Kaname figure alone. Kaname looks handsome as usual today.
"What is it, Yuuki? It is important?" ask Kaname.
"Yes, it is important. Chairman ask me to come and ask your help." Yuuki said slowly. She feel hesitate to say it out loud. Not because of Kaname inner circles, but it is simply because of the other night class students. Nobody other that Kaname inner circles know about Zero's condition before.
Kaname realize this. He look at the other vampire and give them and order. "I want all of you leave to school first. I will come later. Don't do anything stupid." Kaname's order in an absolute. Even his eyes is red.
"Yes, Kaname-sama." All the vampires say in unison and bowed to Kaname's order. After that they all gather at the school gate before the gate is opened, slowly. Now, there just Kaname and his inner circles in the Moon Dormitory. Yuuki sighed in relief.
"I am sorry, Kaname-senpai. It just that, I need your help to call a doctor," say Yuuki, slowly.
Aidou and Ruka huffed when they hear that. Just to call a doctor? What the hell was that? Can't she do that herself? Aidou and Ruka glance at Yuuki but they don't give any comment. Especially when they saw Kaname glare at them.
"Doctor? Why did you need a doctor? Are you sick, Yuuki?" ask Kaname worried. He frowned because he saw that Yuuki is just fine as always.
Yuuki face reddened. "No, no, no! It's not me who is sick. It's… Zero. I need a doctor for Zero. So, can you call the previous doctor?" ask Yuuki and in her eyes, Kaname can saw that she is really worried about Zero.
"Kiryuu? What's happen to him?" Now Kaname worried. He don't know why but he is worried. Zero is sick? Wow, this is the first time he hear that Zero can sick. However, Kaname manage to put his indifferent mask to hide his worried.
"I don't know. This morning, when he woke up from his sleep, his face is so pale and when we were on our way to school, suddenly he pass out. That's why we need a doctor to check on him. I don't want Zero to sleep once again." Yuuki feel so sad when she thinks about it.
Everyone silent when they hear that. They witness with their own eyes how Zero's condition before. Of course everyone will worry if Zero passed out again.
"Okay, I will call a doctor to chairman house. No need to worry." Kaname smile a little while he pats Yuuki's head gently.
"Thanks, Kaname-sama. I feel so relive now. I need to do my job now because Zero is not here to help me. So, I will take my leave." Yuuki bowed a little. But before she can walk away, Kaname call her name. She look at Kaname while she tilted her head.
"Who's take care of Kiryuu since he fainted?" ask Kaname because he saw Yuuki at school today. And he also saw Chairman Cross at his office today. That's why he want to know. There is no way Yuuki and Chairman Cross will leave Zero alone.
Yuuki smile widely. "His twin, Ichiru. Ichiru is taking care of Zero right now since it's obvious that I have my duties as a perfect. And, Ichiru is an excellent cooker. Just like Zero. So we don't find any problems to let Zero in Ichiru's care," say Yuuki innocently.
Kaname slightly annoyed when he hear Ichiru's name. Why must Ichiru who's take care of Zero? There is nobody else out there? Takuma glance at Kaname. He can feel unpleasant aura from Kaname after he hear Ichiru's name. And he still remember yesterday, when Kaname saw Ichiru hug Zero, Kaname unleash his cold aura.
That night, the doctor came to check on Zero. Zero who's already awake pouted when the doctor takes his blood a few time. He glare at the doctor but the doctor don't look at him at all. He glare at Chairman Cross because he know it's Chairman Cross idea to call this vampire doctor here.
"How much of my blood did you need? Why don't you just bite me and suck my blood if you want my blood that bad? I hate to see you take my blood like this." Especially when he saw his blood in the bottles. His sour face still looks good even though he pouted right now.
The doctor who is still young just laugh when he hear that. He know that he is a vampire but still, he don't bite his patients. "I need a few samples of your blood so I can make sure of something. I think I know what happen to you but… it's impossible to happen to you." The doctor said calmly.
Zero frowned when he hear that. Is he really sick? Now he worried. He glance at Ichiru, Yuuki and Chairman Cross.
"Is he sick? It is serious?" ask Chairman Cross. He really worried. Zero is his son, of course he will worry. Not his real son but Zero is still his son since he take Zero into this house four years ago. And before, Zero never once get sick. That's why we worried.
The doctor smile. "I still can't give an answer. But, in a few days I will give you the result." The doctor who already finished his work, tidy his things to go home. "For now Mr. Kiryuu, please don't stress out, eat healthy food and take blood when you need it. Don't force yourself to refrain from drinking it. Take blood at least once a week," say the doctor while he search something in his blue pouch.
"Take the blood once a week? Nonsense. Even if I want to take the blood once every two week it's still impossible," mumble Zero but they still can hear it.
"Who did you feed on now?" ask the doctor with a smile.
Ichiru, Yuuki and Chairman Cross look at Zero. They really want to know. That if Zero wants to open his mouth.
Zero glance at him. Should he tell the doctor that he feed on Kaname? Kaname Kuran? If the other people ask him, he can answer with no hesitate. But… this is a vampire who asks him. And maybe he is Kaname's doctor. No, he won't tell anyone.
"Why should I tell you, vampire. Now your job it done and you can go from my sight." Zero said without look at the doctor.
The doctor just smile. It's not his first time hear someone say this to him. And Chairman Cross already warn him before.
"Oh, yeah. Please take this medicine." The doctor give Zero a pack of pills with the white color.
"What's this?" ask Zero while observe the medicine suspicious.
"That was a medicine to control your blood pressure. Please take it every night. And that medicine will make you sleepy so you can take it before you sleep," say the doctor while he give one pill and a glass of water to Zero. "Please take this now."
Zero glare at the doctor but he still take the medicine and the glass then he eat the medicine. He blinks a few times. There is no effect like the blood tablets did. And it doesn't make his chest and stomach hurt. Its fine, he thinks.
"Now, please rest, Mr. Kiryuu. You need it," say the doctor. "I will take my leave now and I will come to see you in a few days." The doctor walks out from the room with the Chairman Cross.
When the Chairman Cross come back to Zero's room, Zero already feel drowsy because of the medicine effect. He can't open his eyes and he can't focus his ear to hear what the Chairman Cross saying to Yuuki and Ichiru. And he don't know when he fall asleep when suddenly every things around him looks dark.
"Let's get out from here. Zero is asleep already and I don't think he will wake up soon. And you two should sleep too because you have a class tomorrow," say Chairman Cross while he wrap Zero's body with the blanket.
"Okay." Ichiru and Yuuki glance at Zero for a while before they get out from his room. Chairman Cross close the door behind him. They need to sleep. Today is a really tired day.
When the clock shows right on 3.30 am, and when everybody in Chairman Cross private quarters is already asleep, there is someone who enter Zero's room through the window. He quietly enter the room and smile when he saw Zero sleep soundly. The moonlight shines against Zero's face makes Zero looks so beautiful. He walks slowly and stand next to the bed.
"Zero…"
