Love is Power

Staring helplessly as Azog dangled Fili by his coat. Shouting down at us in the ugly words of orcs. "No Fili!" Taking a step forward but was grabbed back by Dwalin. Azog smiled a gruesome smile running his weapon through Fili's chest then tossing him like he was nothing but garbage. Wrenching myself from Dwalin's grasp crossing the frozen river falling next to Fili's lifeless body.

Picking his head off the ground laying it in my lap as letting out a sob. "This wasn't supposed to happen. We were supposed to reclaim the mountain. Rebuild the kingdom you Kili and I are going to get married and start a family. Have so many dwarflings we don't know what to do with." Sobbing over him. He just laid there lifeless and I knew my attempts at trying to bring him back was all for naught.

Realizing that Kili needed help, placing a kiss on his ashen lips. Wishing with all my heart that there somehow some way I could have saved him. Touching the area where he was wounded. "Please rest easy my prince, my friend, my husband." Starting to get up when a stabbing pain in my chest had me doubling over breathless.

Just as fast as the pain came it vanished leaving me out of breath wondering what in the world happened. Looking at Fili's face noticing his color started coming back. Shocked placing my ear to his chest hearing his heart beating. Then he started breathing. It was labored at first but grew stronger.

Dwalin came over placing his hand on my shoulder. "Come on lass. The other's need our help. We will get him later." Trying to pull me away from him shaking my head.

"Dwalin he's alive. Fili's alive!" Looking up at him. As to give signs that was true Dwalin knelt down to check for himself.

"By my beard tis true. Go find Kili, I will take care of him lass." Nodding rushing the same way Kili had just moments ago. Running over rock seeing the corpses that fell to Kili's sword but not finding him.

"Kili!" Shouting to find out where he was.

"Ali!" Hearing him shout looking around only to be greeted by orcs.

Fighting them off trying to get to him to let him know that his brother was alive. Then I heard a familiar voice cry out knowing it was Tauriel. Rounding the corner seeing her and Kili fighting Bolg. Coming to their aid charging at the orc only to be blocked. Grabbing my arm twisting it making a crunching sound causing me to drop my sword. Flinging me into a stone wall crying out in pain as the wind was knocked out of me.

Shaking my head focusing from the blow just in time to see him throw Tauriel towards the cliff. Rushing after her quickly grabbing her hand pulling her up just as Kili shouted. Looking up watching in horror as Bolg grabbed him off his back sneering in horrified pleasure as he plunged his weapon into Kili's chest.

"No!" Screaming as he dropped Kili to the ground. Tauriel attacked him as I rushed to his side pulling him into my embrace. Dark brown orbs looked at me barely holding on. Tears fell from his eyes as his hand came up to my face. Mouthing 'I love you' then going limp. "Kili stay with me. Please don't leave me. We have to get married. Your brother he's going to be alright. Please just stay. No don't close your eyes. I love you." Pleading but it was no use he was gone. Crumpling over his body sobbing hysterical.

Laying my head on his chest willing for anything to happen just so he would come back to the land of the living. Even if it was that my life was taken in exchange for his. The pain in my chest returned only this time it was a lot worse than before. Crying out as the stabbing pain in my chest grew worse and my breathing became labored. Wishing that this was it that this was the end. The pain continued but as fast as it came it was gone leaving me breathless and weak.

Keeping my head on Kili's chest as my breathing returned to normal. Someone stood next to us making me look up seeing Tauriel staring at me. "He's gone." Shaking her head staring at his body. Looking back to him as he was breathing not normally but shallow breaths.

"He's alive but how?" Tauriel gasped. Legolas came up to us watching as Kili seemed to grow stronger.

"Some Elves have the ability of giving their life force to the dying. Bringing them back from the brink of death." Legolas explained. "I know of only one who mastered the ways of life force transfer and that was my mother." Wiping my eyes watching the dwarf I loved breathing.

Tauriel and I helped bring Kili back down to the frozen river where the others were. He hadn't regained consciousness but he was still alive. Looking around wondering where Thorin and Bilbo were. Looking over at the end of the frozen river seeing Bilbo leaning over a body weeping. It was Thorin's. Looking over at Tauriel she nodded as I rushed to their sides.

"Bilbo!" Looking up as tears streamed down his face.

"He's gone." Was all he said.

Kneeling beside Thorin's body placing my hand over his heart next to the wound, trying to concentrate. The pain started once again but this was even worse. Crying out biting my lip reopening the cut Thorin gave me just hours before. Not giving up as the pain was excruciating. If I am to die saving his life then I shall die with honor in saving the line of Durin. Crying out as it felt like every bone in my body was exploding. Then I felt it. His heart beat once, then twice then more.

His breathing was shallow but he was breathing. Slumping back looking up seeing a stunned Bilbo and Dwalin as my vision went black falling to the ice. Before losing consciousness I could hear my name being called then nothing. This was it I'm dying.

"Tirithiel gave too much life force to those three. She was on the verge of death. Mithandir it was good that you called me." That voice it sounded familiar. Opening my eyes seeing that Gandalf was speaking to Lord Elrond. "The broth seems to have given her back some strength."

"W…what happened?" Asking trying to sit up out of the bed I was occupying. Lord Elrond placed his hand on my shoulder to keep me from getting up.

"Rest young one. You gave most of your life force. You need more time to recover. Now sleep." Placing his hand over my eyes sleep over came me.

When the next I woke seeing a familiar face reading a book next to my bed. It was Bilbo. "Bilbo?" Looking up he smiled at me.

"I am so glad that you are alright." Taking my hand making me chuckle.

"I'm glad to see that you are alright as well. But what about Thorin, Fili and Kili?" He gave a small smile making my heart drop. "No."

"I will see if you can get out of bed." Walking over to Lord Elrond who glanced back at me nodding to Bilbo. Coming back "you may get out of bed for a few hours. Just can't over exert yourself."

Struggling to get out of bed feeling extremely weak. Bilbo held onto me as best he could to keep me from falling. Leading me to another room of the infirmary. Then to a private section where three bodies laid. Setting my eyes upon them my heart ached. They looked so peaceful. "Are they dead?" My voice trembled not taking my eyes off them.

"No but they have a long road to recovery. It's thanks to you that they live. Lord Elrond is keeping them in a deep slumber as they mend. It is a slow process but it seems to be steady. What you did almost giving up your life to save theirs is something that will go down in all of history." Gandalf exclaimed coming in behind us. "How was it that you knew you could do that?" Shrugging not really knowing myself.

"It first started with Fili. Wishing that he would live when a painful sensation racked my body. Same with Kili only it grew more intense. It was with Thorin that felt as if every bone in my body was going to explode." I explained.

"Transferring life force is something not to be taken lightly. It can be helpful yet destructing. Only use it in cases of extreme measure. For it can kill you if you use too much." He warned. Nodding Bilbo helped me back to my room.

"Are you up for some company?" Bilbo asked. Nodding he smiled opening the curtain as ten dwarves piled into my make shift room.

"Lass glad to see that you are alright." Bofur smiled.

"Thank you for saving the others." Balin took my hand in his.

Everyone else tried to talk to me all at once but was interrupted with Bilbo shouting "Give her some air!" They parted each one taking turns to leave me flowers. And thanking me for saving Thorin, Fili and Kili. Ori even gave me a gift of handmade knitted fingerless gloves.

Over the next few months my strength returned. Ending my restrictions of bed rest. I continued visiting Kili, Fili and Thorin hoping that one day they would wake up. Lord Elrond ended his part in keeping them asleep and told us that it would be up to them if they should regain consciousness or not. Sitting between Fili and Kili holding their hands telling them about the days that went by. How they were rebuilding Erebor and Dale. That even Bard and his children have come to pay their respects.

"Balin has gotten word from your kin from the Blue Mountains. They are to arrive in the next few days. I bet your mother will be happy to know that everyone has survived." Squeezing his hand. "Kili please wake up. Fili please open your eyes. These months have been so lonely without you guys." Whispering placing Kili's hand on my cheek.

Sighing getting up about to leave for the night placing his hand down by his side when his grip tightened and wouldn't let go. Glancing at his face watching his eyelids move then began to open. "Ali?" He croaked making my eyes water.

"You're finally awake. Oh Kili." Crying laying my head on his chest. His hand rubbed my head. Moving my face to be close to his as he smiled. "I missed you so much." Bringing my face up to his as we kissed.

Over the next few days helping Kili around Erebor showing him everything that had been going on during the months while he was recovering. Holding my hand kissing it as we walked through the halls. We even sat with Fili and Thorin as they still slept.

Thorin and Fili woke up just a few days before the dwarves from the Blue Mountains arrived. Even though they were a bit weak they greeted their kin to Erebor. Dis pulled both her sons into her embrace then her brother after hitting him in the shoulder complaining that he will be the death of her. Especially when she was given word that the three of them had been grievously wounded.

Dis was very beautiful, graceful and grand. If you'd not been told that she was Thorin's younger sister she could have been his twin. She had dark brown almost black hair with streaks of white. Her eyes the color of the purest sapphire that were found in the treasure hoard in the belly of Erebor.

When Balin told her that it was I who saved her family she pulled me into her arms as she embraced me then kissed my cheeks. "Thank you for saving my sons and brother. We owe you our lives. I knew your father. He was an honorable man. I am pleased to be gaining someone like you as a daughter. Welcome Tirithiel." She gushed over me.

"Thank you my lady. But call me Ali," smiling at her.

"Only if you call me mum." We laughed as Fili and Kili came over kissing her cheek then my lips.

In the days following the arrival the dwarves from the Blue Mountains and Thorin, Fili and Kili's awakening. A special celebration was held naming me an honorary dwarf just like my father, as well as the savior of the line of Durin.

As well as Fili, Kili and mine wedding. With much happiness and celebrating. There was much food, drinking and dancing. Everything was right with the world.

Months passed when that fateful day came as we were saying our farewells to our friend Bilbo Baggins. He was returning to the Shire. Standing there with the others as we said our good byes. "Do you really have to go back Bilbo? You are part of our family." Sniffling as Fili and Kili put their arms around me.

"I must. I miss my home. But I will be back to visit someday. And to see your children." Moving to hug me then patting my small baby bump. "If you are ever in the Shire don't hesitate to come for a visit. There will be snacks and tea for all. Well farewell." Going over to Thorin.

"Farewell Master Baggins. Bugler under the mountain. May we meet again soon." He hugged the hobbit.

"Farewell to you Thorin King under the Mountain. May your kingdom be prosperous." Waving then headed down to the valley between here and Dale. Leaning against Fili as he placed his arms around me rubbing my stomach. Kili holding my hand in his.

"I am going to miss him so much." Sniffling. They agreed with me.

"If we have a son. Let's name him after our hobbit?" Kili suggested. Making Fili and me laugh as we turned heading back inside Erebor. Just then the baby kicked making me gasp.

"What?" Both asked nervously.

"Nothing the baby just kicked." Smiling at them. They both placed their hands on my stomach smiling as they felt it to. Grinning like fools but they were entitled to.

Our new lives just beginning.

The End of the alternate ending.
