"It'll destroy the very source of Shade?" Daphne asked Harry. Harry nodded with a huge smile on his face. The smile went away quickly when he looked over the requirements for the ritual. "One little problem." Harry muttered. "What is it?" Daphne asked him. "This ritual is like making the Polyjuice Potion. It'll take a month to make, and some of the things we'll need will be hard to get...unless you know some people on the wizarding black market." he answered. Daphne frowned at her boyfriend when he said that, and Harry quickly rectified his mistake by telling her that he was kidding. "Seriously though Daph, unless you know where to get a Dragon's Heart, Phoenix Tears, Sal Ammoniac, Unicorn Blood, Vervain, Erumpent Horn, and Lobalug Venom, then we're not going to be able to complete this ritual." Harry told her.

"You already know where to get Phoenix Tears Harry, and a Dragon's Heart also." Daphne told him. He looked at her with confusion deep in his eyes, then asked her "I do? Where do I know I can get those?" She gave him a look of disbelief, and told him "Fawkes the Phoenix for the Phoenix Tears, and Ron's brother Charlie for the Dragon Heart. You told me he worked with Dragons didn't you?" Harry slapped himself for forgetting those two things. He had in fact forgotten all about Fawkes and Charlie. "I'll write to Charlie and ask him for the Dragon Heart, and I'll write to Professor Dumbledore about the Phoenix Tears." he told her. "I'll handle the letter for the Dragon Heart Harry. We can't have you saying something to offend Charlie." Daphne replied. He was prepared to argue with her, but the look in her eyes told him that she wasn't going to take no for an answer. "Fine Daph. You can write the letter to Charlie, but let me read it before we send it off okay?" he asked her. She nodded at him, and conjured up two sheets of parchment, two bottles of ink and two Eagle Feather Quills.

Harry took one of each, and got started on his letter to Dumbledore. It took him about ten minutes to figure out what to write and how to explain what he would need the Phoenix Tears for, and it took him another five minutes to write the letter. When he finished his handiwork, he looked over the letter to make sure he wasn't leaving anything out. The letter read:

Dear Professor Dumbledore,

I'm sorry to be interrupting your holiday, but I wouldn't be doing this unless it was absolutely necessary. You see, I've come across a way that will permanently get rid of the thing inside of my body known as Shade, and that way requires a few extremely rare ingredients. One of those ingredients you might have in your possession. I was wondering if you could get me a vial or two of Fawkes' Tears. Phoenix Tears are essential for what I am about to do, and I would greatly appreciate it sir. Hoping you are having a great winter holiday.

He figured it was enough, so he conjured an envelope and placed the letter inside of it. He sat over by Daphne to see how she was doing with the letter for Charlie, and she was in complete work mode. She wasn't wasting any time on describing the problem and how Charlie could help him. When she finished the letter, she slid it over to Harry so he could read it. He looked at the letter, and started reading her cursive writing which was nearly perfect in every way. Her letter read:

Dear Charlie,

my name is Daphne Greengrass, and I am a friend of your little brother, Ron Weasley. I am also dating Harry Potter, who speaks most highly of you. The purpose of my writing you is to let you know that Harry and I need to collect quite a few extremely rare items, and seeing as how you work with dragons everyday, you can help us get one of those items. You see, we need a Dragon's Heart for what we're trying to do, which is an extremely weird ritual that'll destroy a being/force known as Shade. Shade has taken over He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's body, and has done the same to Harry and countless others. With your help, we'll be one step closer to destroying the entire existence of Shade. Shade's goal is to possess a body, and make that person the most powerful Dark Witch or Wizard of the age, which he has done with You-Know-Who, and probably the other infamous Dark Wizards of all time: including Morgan Le Fay. As I've explained earlier in this letter, you can help us by sending us a Dragon's Heart, if you can. Please reply as soon as you can, and please keep this secret to yourself. Only a select few know about Harry's condition, and it could become dangerous to him if anyone found out about that was his enemy. Hoping you're enjoying the winter holidays.

Daphne Greengrass

It took Harry a while to read the letter, but when he finished he had no complaints about it. Daphne really did put it in a way that couldn't possibly offend Charlie in any way. If he had done the letter, he probably would've told Charlie the wrong thing, and they'd never have a chance to get their hands on a Dragon Heart, unless they went to the Wizarding Black Market, but Daphne and Hermione and Sirius and Mrs. Weasley would kill him if he did that. He put that thought far from his mind, since he was mostly afraid of what Daphne and Mrs. Weasley would do to him if he took that route. "Hedwig." Harry called out. His snowy white owl came flying to the library, and sat on the table they were using. "I'd like you to take these letters Hedwig. One is for Professor Dumbledore, and the other is for Ron's brother Charlie in Romania. It's going to be a long trip, but I'd appreciate it girl. I'll have a reward for you when you come back." he told his faithful owl. Hedwig nipped Harry's finger with her beak in affection, and waited for him to tie the letters to her leg.

It took him a few minutes to tie the letters on, and watched Hedwig fly out of the library window. "Now all that's left is to wait for her return." Harry told Daphne. "That and figure out where to get all of the other ingredients for this ritual. Professor Sprout might now where to find some Vervain." Daphne told him, after laying her head on his shoulder. "That just leaves an Erumpent Horn, Sal Ammoniac, Unicorn Blood and Lobalug Venom. Any idea of where those might be?" Harry asked in reply. Daphne shook her head, and sighed as they watched Hedwig disappearing into the horizon. "Good thing you've got such a huge library. Time to start doing some…" Harry started. He then shuddered at the next word that came out of his mouth "research." Daphne chuckled at her boyfriend, then disappeared further into the expansive library in her family home. Harry just started at the bookshelf that he was at, and looked at the names on the bindings. He pulled down their copy of 'Goshawk's Guide To Herbology', and started to look through the pages for the plant known as Vervain.

As he was flipping through the pages, he stopped when he flipped to a page with an herb in it. He picked up the herb which had five petals that were inside of dense spikes. The petals were white, and it had a faint smell to it. Harry looked down at the page that the herb was on, and read it thoroughly. The passage read 'The herb Verbena, also known as Vervain, has magical healing properties. It can also be used in wizarding healing remedies, and is used in the treatment of mad dog bites. They are believed to have many more uses, but those uses which might've been used in medieval times, have long since been lost to the modern age. It is also believed that Merlin was the most common user of Vervain in the medieval age.'. Harry looked at the herb in his hand, and closed the book that he was reading. "Daphne." he called out. She appeared by his side in a few seconds, and asked him "What is it Harry?" He held up the herb in his hand, and gave it to her. "What is this?" she asked in confusion. "That, my dear, is Verbena. Also known as Vervain. It was in your family's copy of 'Goshawk's Guide To Herbology'." he explained to her. "Maybe that could explain what the smell of this herb is." she muttered. "Unfortunately, the book didn't explain the faint smell of the herb. It did show that this herb was believed to have been used by Merlin, and that it has many more uses than the ones explained in the book." he explained to her. "Is it me, or does it seem like this Material Search going to be easier than we thought?" she asked him.

"Now it's not going to be, since you just jinxed it." he told her in a teasing voice. Daphne stuck her tongue out at her boyfriend, and snatched the Vervain out of his hand. "Hey. Be careful with that, will you?" he asked her. Daphne giggled at him, and gently placed the herb on the table. "Time to go back to doing research, isn't it?" she asked him. Regretfully and reluctantly, Harry nodded his head at her. "I'll try finding out more about the Sal Ammoniac and the Unicorn Horn." Harry told her. "That leaves the Erumpent Horn and the Lobalug Venom to me." Daphne said cheerfully. Daphne walked off to the southeast corner of the library, and once again disappeared behind a bookshelf. Harry walked along the bookshelves he was already by, because he already knew which book he needed. "If I were a copy of 'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them' where would I be?" he asked himself. Daphne answered from behind him, "I would be in the hands of your awesome and beautiful girlfriend, who now knows where Erumpent and a Lobalug can be found." Harry turned around to see his wonderful girlfriend holding the exact book he needed, but as soon as he went to grab it, she pulled her arm away in a nonchalant way.

Harry took the hint quite clearly, and gave Daphne the kiss that she secretly wanted. After they were done kissing, Daphne gladly handed Harry the book that he needed. He flipped through the pages, and stopped on the entry about Unicorns. "Commonly found in Northern Europe. Great. That limits it down to about ten countries, including the one we're in." Harry muttered. "Aren't the Fourth Years studying Unicorns in Care of Magical Creatures this year?" Daphne asked him. He thought about it, then realized that she was absolutely right. "Yeah, they are. Professor Grubbly-Plank is teaching them about it, while Hagrid is away." he answered. "Well maybe I can take a trip to the Forbidden Forest to get a Unicorn Horn, since the Unicorns don't take too kindly to males." Daphne told him, while placing her arms around his neck. He smiled at her, and kissed her gently on the lips. "You can only do that, if you promise to be careful. I've been in the Forbidden Forest enough times to know that it's not exactly human-friendly. Especially the Centaurs. You've got to keep away from them." he told her. She nodded her head innocently at him, and kissed him on his cheek, then let go of him. She barely walked away from him, when he fell to the floor, clutching his head and screaming in pain. Daphne rushed over to him, and saw that his scar was pulsating and turning a bright red. She also noticed that if you looked hard enough, then you could see steam coming from the scar.

"Harry? HARRY?!" she yelled in shock and desperation. She called out for one of the House-Elves, and the one that served them dinner came, still looking fresh in his small suit. "What is it that Mistress Daphne be needing?" the House-Elf asked her. "Go get my mother and BRING HER HERE NOW!" she yelled in a panic. The House-Elf bowed at Daphne, and disappeared and reappeared with Daphne's mother. Her mother looked down to see Harry's current state, and she instantly got into mother/inspector mode. "What happened to him?" she asked Daphne. "I just turned away for a second, and when I turned back around he was like this screaming at the top of his lungs." Daphne explained with fear in her voice. Mrs. Greengrass picked Harry up, which was surprising to Daphne and surprising in general, and took him out of the library. All Daphne did was stand where she was, and kept reliving the memory of Harry falling and crying in pain, and his scar doing all that it did. That's all she remembered as she chased after her mother, and followed her to the Manor Infirmary. When they reached the Infirmary, Daphne couldn't get the memory of Harry's scar turning bright red, and having steam come out of it.
