Disturbed by his most recent talk with Shade, Harry got dressed quickly and headed down to the Great Hall for breakfast by himself. "He can't have seriously done that." Harry repeatedly thought to himself. "Oh but I have done so, young Harry." Shade would always reply in amusement. Shade was enjoying the torment that Harry was going through at the moment, and he decided to add fuel to the fire. "If it is a boy, should we name him Harry Jr. or Shade Jr? If it is a girl, should we name her Samantha, Jean, Serena or better yet….Lily?" Shade asked Harry. At that point Harry yelled out loudly "SHUT UP!" A group of Third and Fourth Year girls flinched at his sudden outburst, and quickly walked away from him. "Harry. You've got to watch your temper. We can't have you accidentally blowing people up like you did your Aunt Marge." Shade told him. Harry stopped in his tracks and thought to Shade "How do you…" he started, but Shade finished his sentence for him. "Know about that? Since I've chosen your body and mind as a comfortable host, I have access to all of your memories. Actions too, when I have enough strength to do so." Shade answered.
Harry was literally filled with an unusual amount of hatred at the moment, and it was all directed towards one thing: Shade. When he gotten to the Great Hall, he slammed his bag on the ground and slammed the table with his fist. Everyone in the Great Hall had heard him and looked in his direction, even the Staff that was at the Staff Table. Sirius in particular had a worried look on his face. Sirius was also the first one to walk over to Harry to see what was wrong with him. "Harry. What is it? Why are you so….upset?" Sirius asked only pausing to use what seemed to be the right word. Harry looked up at Sirius with tear-filled eyes and responded "Everything is wrong Sirius, and it is all because of Shade." Sirius sat down next to his godson, and asked him "Would you care to elaborate on that?" Harry wiped his face with his left sleeve and managed to calm himself down enough to explain everything that had happened to Sirius. At the end of his explanation, the unusual amount of hatred that he had felt earlier had returned with a vengeance. Harry's eye glowed a brilliant Gold and he seemed to make the Great Hall shake with waves of pure magic. Sirius put his hand under his godson's chin and lifted it up so that Harry's eyes met his own. "Listen to me Harry. We're going to find a way to fix everything, but for right now I need you to calm down." Sirius pleaded with his momentarily emotionally unstable godson.
Harry took a few deep breaths of air, and the Great Hall stopped shaking and his eyes stopped glowing. "What am I going to do if we can't fix it Sirius? It'll be Shade's child, not mine." Harry told Sirius, as he felt the tears come back to his eyes. A few moments after Harry started crying, Fawkes appeared in a flash of bright red light and landed on Harry's right shoulder and Sirius' left shoulder. They then flashed out of the Great Hall and into the Headmaster's Office. Sitting in his chair was Professor Dumbledore and sitting in front of him was Daphne in a chair on his left, and Madame Pomfrey who was sitting in a chair on his right.. Harry quickly took the seat on the right side of Daphne, and another chair magically appeared for Sirius to sit in. Sirius calmly sat in the chair and looked at Dumbledore as if he knew bad news was coming. "Hello Harry, I am sure you wondering why you and Sirius have been summoned tonight?" Dumbledore asked Harry. Harry shook his head and kept his eyes trained on Daphne. "If it's about Daphne being pregnant, then I already know. I also know that the baby is Shade's and that it's growing quite rapidly. We had a…. nice conversation about it in my subconsciousness." Harry told everyone besides Sirius. Everyone, besides Sirius, looked at Harry in shock since they didn't know about that.
Daphne's eyes were red from crying when she found out, and she laid her head on Harry's right shoulder. "Since you know so much Mr. Potter, do you have any idea how this could be prevented?" Madame Pomfrey asked Harry. Harry shook his head at Madame Pomfrey solemnly. "I have a few theories that my friends, my godfather and I have been working on to get rid of Shade. The first theory would be having Daphne drink at least twenty vials of Phoenix Tears, but that may or may not work." Harry explained. "What about you Ms. Greengrass? Do you have any idea of how to handle this situation?" Dumbledore asked her calmly. Daphne looked straight into Professor Dumbledore's eyes and gave him a look that clearly told him 'I'll tell you when Harry isn't around' and shook her head. "Well, Mr. Potter you are free to leave. However, I require that Professor Black, Madame Pomfrey and Ms. Greengrass remain here while I ask her some more questions." Dumbledore told Harry. Harry was prepared to argue against this, but the look in both Daphne and Sirius' eyes told him to just leave.
Harry kissed Daphne on the cheek and whispered in her ear "I'll wait for you outside when this is over." Daphne nodded sadly as she watched Harry disappear out of the door, and go down the spiral staircase. "Now Ms. Greengrass, what was it you wanted to tell us without Mr. Potter knowing about it?" Professor Dumbledore asked quickly and to the point. "When we were at my manor this summer, we found two rather special books in my family's library. The first was Merlin's Book of Magic and the other was Ancient Magic of the World. In Merlin's Book of Magic, we found a ritual that would completely get rid of all traces of Shade. When Harry found out and said it out loud, Shade panicked and possessed his body. He warned me that I better make Harry forget about the ritual or he'd kill him. I'm pretty sure that this ritual will permanently get rid of Shade. Almost all of the ingredients needed for it are here at Hogwarts. Phoenix Tears, Sal Ammoniac, Unicorn Blood, Vervain and Lobalug Venom. Harry and I already talked to Ron's brother, Charlie, about the Dragon Heart that is also needed. We also need an Erumpent Horn, but we don't know where to find one." Daphne explained.
Dumbledore nodded and flicked his wand at his desk. About thirty vials of a clear liquid appeared in front of Daphne. "Those Ms. Greengrass, are vials of Phoenix Tears from Fawkes that I've saved over the years. Use them however you wish. As for the other ingredients, I'll ask my trusted staff members to gather them collectively. How long does this ritual take to accomplish?" he asked her. "About a month. Just like the Polyjuice Potion." Daphne answered automatically and distantly. Dumbledore nodded and looked at Sirius as if wondering how to word this. "Professor Black, can I ask you to track down the Erumpent Horn?" he asked Sirius. Sirius nodded and got up from his seat. "However, if you find one, I must ask you be careful with it. They've been known to explode when they feel sudden impacts." Dumbledore warned him. Sirius once again nodded and disappeared out of the office door. "Madame Pomfrey, will you see if Hagrid has any Unicorn Blood left from the Unicorn Attack four years ago?" Dumbledore asked Poppy. She gave a stiff nod and exited the office just like her colleague. "Ms. Greengrass. I must insist that you drink the twenty vials that Mr. Potter theorized would help you out." Dumbledore told her calmly.
Daphne slowly nodded her head and with shaky hands she grabbed one of the many vials of Phoenix Tears, uncorked the vial and drank it swiftly in one gulp. She repeated the process nineteen times, and by the time she finished the twentieth vial, she was feeling extremely sick. She looked up at the ceiling and a dark shadow had seemed to come from out of her stomach and into the air. The dark shadow gave a short quiet wail like a baby, and disappeared into sweet oblivion. "Well that's over." Daphne said out loud. Dumbledore nodded and looked at the remaining ten vials of Phoenix Tears and flicked his wand at them. They magically floated into the air and landed into Daphne's bag. "I'll make sure that none of the staff reveal what we're planning to Mr. Potter. It is, after all, for his safety and well-being. However, I must ask that you refrain from carrying such heavy burdens by yourself when you have friends who are willing to help you with everything." he told Daphne. Daphne looked at the Headmaster as if she had a sudden epiphany. She realized that Professor Dumbledore was absolutely right, that she did have friends who wanted to help her, and she even had reasons to have hope. A slight smile crept on her face as she got up, placed her bag over her shoulder and left the office feeling happier than ever. Dumbledore smiled as he watched one of his many precious students walk out of his office, and made the office door close with a wave of his hand.
After going down the Spiral Staircase that led to the Headmaster's Office, Daphne found Harry down the hall of the empty corridor. When Harry saw that Daphne had come out of Dumbledore's Office, he ran over to her and hugged her. He put every single word and emotion that he couldn't clearly say out loud into the hug, and let her know mentally how much she had meant to him. "I'm not pregnant anymore Harry. I drank the twenty vials of Phoenix Tears and it got rid of Shade's spawn." Daphne told her boyfriend after the five-minute hug. Harry pulled away from their hug and his face which was full of worry and sadness transformed into one of happiness and hope. "The vials of Phoenix Tears actually worked?" he asked her. She nodded with a smile on her face. "I don't know what I'd do without you Daphne. I don't know what your pregnancy could've done to you, but I'm glad that we don't have to worry about Shade's spawn anymore. I would've probably been elated if it were my child." Harry told her. Daphne placed her head on Harry's shoulder and interlocked her fingers with his. "I would've been happy if it was yours also Harry. We are too young at the moment though. Maybe when we graduate school?" Daphne asked Harry.
A look that Daphne never seen Harry use before came onto Harry's face. It was a cross between disappointment, despair, determination and fear. "What's wrong Harry?" Daphne asked her boyfriend worriedly. "I might not be graduating from Hogwarts Daph." Harry told her after a few moments silence. Confusion swept across Daphne's face and she showed it in a confused frown. "What do you mean you might not be graduating from Hogwarts?" she asked gently. "You and the whole world know that Voldemort is back. He's becoming stronger every single day, recruiting more followers and thinking up ways to become much more powerful just for his ultimate goal: to kill me. I'm the only real threat standing between him and his complete world domination. I have to stop him Daphne. I just don't know how yet." Harry explained to her as they started walking down the corridors. Daphne processed this all in a matter of seconds like Hermione would, and only came to one conclusion. "I'm going with you when you go to face off with old Voldy. I'm pretty sure Hermione and Ron would be coming too. We aren't going to let you do this all by yourself." Daphne told him. Harry smiled at his girlfriend of one year and kissed her forehead. "I wouldn't dream of leaving you behind." Harry told Daphne.
Daphne then heard Hagrid exiting the Entrance Hall to go back to his hut. "We're on the Third Floor, yet I can hear Hagrid near the Entrance Hall. Why is that?" Daphne asked out loud without meaning to. "Sirius did say that drinking twenty vials of Phoenix Tears would leave you with some superhuman senses. I'm guessing that means your sense of touch and sound also." Harry explained. Before Daphne could inquire as to what her boyfriend meant by sense of touch, he gently and slowly rubbed the back of her neck. She shivered in delight and in pleasure as Harry proved his point. "That's going to take some getting used to." Daphne muttered. "The effects should be temporary, so you won't have to get used to it for long." Harry told her teasingly. Daphne rolled her Sapphire-colored eyes at her boyfriend, and headed to the Gryffindor Common Room with him. Since it was a Friday, the only class they had that day was Defense Against the Dark Arts. That class wasn't until four o'clock in the afternoon. It was just reaching noon which had left them four hours of free time. After they got onto their favorite couch in front of the fire in the Common Room, Daphne pulled out a light green daily planner and handed it to him before laying her head down on his lap. Harry grabbed the daily planner and opened it to reveal Daphne's tidy handwriting. "How did you manage to get my Quidditch Schedule though?" he asked her after seeing the Quidditch hours on certain days.
"Well when your boyfriend is the extremely busy type when it comes to school, you find out a bunch of stuff to help him manage his time better. Angelina was all too happy to help you manage your time. She figured that make you have more time for Quidditch Practice or something." Daphne explained to her boyfriend. Harry chuckled as that sounded exactly like Angelina, and it also sounded like Wood when he was the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain before he graduated. "Can I ask you a question though Harry?" Daphne asked him quietly. "What is it Daph?" he asked her with concern heavy in his voice. "Was that you who was making the whole castle shake earlier? And by you I mean your magic?" Daphne asked. Harry gulped as he thought he just made the Great Hall shake with just his pure magic. With a slight blush on his face from embarrassment, he nodded his head slowly. It was then Daphne's turn to chuckle. "Was that after you and Shade had your little….talk?" she asked Harry in a teasing manner. Once again, Harry nodded his head slowly in embarrassment.
"I think he scared some of the teachers and the students in the Great Hall, since we felt the brunt of his waves of magic." a voice said coming through the portrait of the Fat Lady. Looking like he was just in the vicinity of an exploding bomb, Sirius walked in with black marks all over his face. "Sirius, what happened to you?" Harry asked his godfather. "Oh nothing. Just a minor explosion in my office. Apparently, it's quite harder than I thought creating a spell." Sirius lied to his godson. He knew how important it was for Harry to not know about the ritual that Daphne was going to perform to get rid of Shade once and for all. "You should be more careful Sirius. What kind of spell were you creating anyways?" Harry had asked. "A spell for pranking. I am a Marauder after all. I figured I might as well do one last epic prank on Snivellus before I permanently retire as a Marauder." Sirius told his godson. Of course, this wasn't a full lie. Just a….half truth if you will. Sirius did want to prank Snape one last time before passing the title of Marauder onto someone or some people worthy of it (like Fred and George for example.) Harry smiled and almost laughed when Sirius said he wanted to prank Snape. Oh how he would love seeing Snape get pranked by his godfather.
"Please tell me that I get to watch this prank when it comes to pass?" Harry asked Sirius with hopefulness in his voice. Daphne frowned at her boyfriend and told him crossly "Harry James Potter! No matter how badly Snape has treated you in class, it doesn't mean that you can watch him get pranked. Just for that, I'm adding to your homework load." Harry and Sirius both looked at Daphne with wide eyes, but Harry also had his jaw dropped. "But. But. But. But...Daphne." Harry complained. "No buts Harry." Daphne told him with her frown still on her face. Sirius laughed at how Daphne was handling Harry. "What's so funny?" Harry asked rather dejectedly. "You two just remind me of how James and Lily were. Whenever James attacked Snape out of revenge, Lily always chastised him. Much like Daphne just did to you." Sirius explained. Harry looked up at Sirius with a frown on his face. "What do you mean that Dad attacked Snape out of revenge? What could've Snape possibly done to deserve that?" Harry asked. "For one, Snape was always trying to get us Marauders expelled. For another, Snivellus was always cursing your father out of nowhere." Sirius told Harry. "Oh." Harry simply said.
Sirius looked at the grandfather clock in the corner of the Gryffindor Common Room and noticed how late it was. "Well, you two better be get ready for my class. It's going to start in about a half an hour. That means I have a half an hour to get these scorch marks off of my face. See you in a bit." Sirius told his godson and Daphne while heading out of the Gryffindor Common Room. Harry and Daphne started laughing at Sirius and collected their bags for class. "Where do you think Ron and Hermione are?" Harry asked his wonderful girlfriend. "I don't know. Why don't you use the Marauder's Map to find out?" Daphne asked in return. Harry smiled at Daphne and grabbed the Marauder's Map from out of his right pocket. He said what he had to to get the map to reveal itself, then unfolded it this way and that to find out where his two dating best friends were. "It appears that they are heading towards the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom from the Room of Requirement. Their names just appeared out of nowhere. If we leave right now we can intercept them." Harry told Daphne.
Daphne got up from her seat on Harry's lap and headed towards the Fat Lady's portrait with her bag, and Harry quickly followed suit as to not get left behind. After another five minutes of walking, they ran into the two people they were looking for. "Hello Hermione. Hey Ron. What were you two doing in the Room of Requirement?" Harry asked as soon as he saw his best friends. "How did you know we?" Ron started to ask. "It was the Marauder's Map, wasn't it?" Hermione asked. Harry had difficulty hiding his smile and nodded at his best friends. "I wanted to treat Hermione to a nice lunch with just the two of us. The only problem was that I didn't know how to cook so I asked Dobby if he could help me. He said 'Of course I'll help Harry Potter's bestest friend'." Ron explained. "That sounds exactly like Dobby." Harry said out loud. Ron and Hermione laughed at Harry and they all headed to their Defense Against the Dark Arts class momentarily forgetting about the mounting war and Harry's personal Shade problem. Well everyone except Daphne whose plan to permanently get rid of Shade was in motion.
