I SHOULD ALSO LET YOU KNOW THAT I WILL BE HAVING PETRA'S BIRTH FATHER MAKING AN APPEARANCE IN FUTURE CHAPTERS BUT I WILL BE DOING MANY THINGS IN MY OWN WAY INVOLVING HIM AND HIS PEOPLE AND MY OWN IDEAS AS I WILL BE TRUTHFUL THAT I REALLY DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT STAR-LORD'S BIRTH FATHER. Chapter 10
Mehira walked out of the helicopter that was sent to pick them up with a slightly growling alien raccoon in a backpack. The twig in her hands was shaking with rage. The 15 year old knew why the two aliens were mad. They had just found out that their leader and good friend who they thought was sick was pregnant with a fellow teammate's child. Mehira could tell that Rocket was doing his best in not to lose his temper which was going to be hard. Groot looked like he was going to also explode which was possible for a tree-like alien but who knew how bad that would be.
Mehira knew from being with The Guardians that all of them had a small protective streak for each other but they also had a massive projective streak when it came to Petra being that she was mostly human in almost everything about her and her teammates were all male which males had a natural instinct to be protective of females. Not that the speedster was saying that Petra was weak which she was anything but, Heck, Mehira knew how protective Clint was of Natasha who was more than able to take care of herself but like she knew the protectiveness was just found more in males that were working with females teammates. But The Guardians protectiveness came from the fact that Petra was the one who got the team together and made them see another way to live. Petra was the glue that kept the team together much like Flash was the one that kept the Justice League together.
Fury was waiting in one of the meeting rooms with Drax who was shooting his version of death glares at Gamor who was rubbing the back of Petra who was bent down over a large trash can loosing what ever food she had been able to eat which wasn't much hence the IV pole beside her to get the much needed nutrients in her body.
Never would the director of SHIELD have thought that he would be dealing with a pregnant half-human female that had been kidnapped by aliens pirates when she was 8 and raised by them on their ship with the crew, well raised by Yondu who really did have a heart for Petra. Fury knew from experience that The Guardians weren't a threat to Earth unless you counted Rocket that one time when the lab techs did some tests on him when they had first met The Guardians which had brought back bad memories for the alien Raccoon-like creature and he had almost blown up the ship with one of his guns. Fury and the other agents never did figure out how Rocket got that rocket launcher pass the weapon checks. In fact, Fury knew that The Guardians would die for any planet in the universe. It was just that Earth was still not advance enough for alien contact in mass amounts if the attack on New York City years ago was anything to be aware of. Fury also knew that even though they fought to protect the Earth that the alien members of The Justice League still weren't fully trusted by the people of Earth.
"WHAT THE HELL DID GAMOR DO TO PETRA!" The loud yelling followed by some very colorful cussing from an mammal alien was heard in the halls as well as people scattering out of the way.
"I AM GROOT."
Fury rubbed his head to help with the headache that was starting to form. Not even Tony Stark was able to give him an headache this quick but yet a alien that looked like a raccoon and an Ent-like creature was able to give him an headache in less than 60 seconds.
"Well, it doesn't take a genius to know what what Gamor did to Petra as I did tell you when we were planet side." Fury heard Mehira's voice only softer and full of laughter.
"I KNOW WHAT GREENY DID TO PETRA! I WAS BEING SARCASTIC AND SNARKY!" The snarling alien mammal growled out.
"And you aren't snarky and sarcastic normally." Mehira said with humor in her voice.
"Shut up!"
Fury waited a few more seconds before he saw Mehria walk in with Rocket and Groot both in her arms, well Groot was in a pot and Rocket was on the teen's back in a backpack snarling up a storm. The speedster put Groot down on the table who was shooting death glares at Gamor if that was even possible for one of the most gentlest creatures that Fury had ever met to be that mad. Rocket had sat himself down on the table and was also glaring at Gamor and had a gun out which Fury knew from experience that could become a big gun in a matter of seconds.
Fury knew that there was going to a lot of yelling being done and had medical teams waiting to treat anyone that would be injured in the fight that was to come but something told him that there wasn't going to any of that. Well, no injuries from The Guardians as Fury had yet to tell Petra that that alien that she saw as a father was on the ship and was being processed and having weapons taken away at the moment but Fury knew that there was no way that any of his agents would be able to get that Yakka arrow away from the blue skinned man without needing medical care themselves and that Yondu was acting like a father even though Petra was well over the age of being an adult on Earth.
"Now that almost everyone is here. Would someone kindly tell me how an alien can get someone who is half-human pregnant?" Fury asked as he looked at Petra and Gamor even though he knew it was somewhat of a stupid question given the history of the half-human and the situation.
"How the hell an I supposed to know? Seriously, I don't even know what my birth father is and he got my mom pregnant." Petra yelled out before going back to puking into the trash can.
"There has never been any record of my people ever being able to conceive a child outside of my race." Gamor replied as he continued rubbing his lover's back as she puked. "I had never given it any thought that the two of us could ever conceive a child when we took our relationship to the next level."
"Could it have something to do with Petra's birth father?" Mehira said as everyone looked at her.
"What do you mean by that?" Drax asked as he continued to glare at his green skinned teammate. He viewed Petra as a younger sister and borderline daughter given her age but would not break the bond the young woman had with Yondu as that man was her father in all but blood. But that did not stop Drax from being protective of Petra and he knew that she and Gamor were in a relationship and that Gamor would not do anything to ever harm Petra but didn't stop him from glaring.
"Well think about this. Petra grew up thinking she was fully Terran or human as you guys put it but it wasn't until she held that Infinity Stone did she find out about only being half-Terran. Well, maybe her birth father's race was one that could conceive with other races as I know that on Xandar that there are a many of mixed-race people but most of The Xandarians share common roots in how they evolved. I'm also saying that when she held the Infinity Stone it was for a good two minutes before Gamor got to her. Maybe and this is just a guess that the stone altered Petra and Gamor's body to the point that they could have children but it may have taken time for that to happen since it's been over five years since that incident." Mehira explained as she sat down in a seat next to Petra. "Plus given the fact on how she grew up which did involve a lot of beating from everyone who would have thought that her body would be able to be able to carry a child." Mehira could see the weird looks that she was getting and forgot for a moment that not everyone knew about the human body.
"On Earth, females Terrans are the only ones that can give birth. If a Terran female suffers to much damage to their lower bodies which is were a Terran child is held for 9 Terran months which is what it takes for a Terran child to grow. Damage can happen in all sorts of ways but given the fact that Petra was in a lot of fights in her time with Yondu's crew or when she was on a mission that she may have never thought that she could have ever been able to be able to have a child. But like I said perhaps that Infinity Stone may have healed her body or she was just lucky in some way which is more than I can say for Gamor at the moment because Yondu is right behind you." Mehira said as she saw the Mohawk blue-skinned adopted father of Petra in the doorway behind Gamor looking pissed and had his Yakka arrow being shown out in the open but was not out of the pocket which was a good thing for Gamor at the moment.
"Somebody better tell me what the HELL is going on RIGHT NOW before I get angry." Yondu growled out as he looked his adopted daughter leaning over a trash can which he knew was not uncommon for females of any race to be doing when they were pregnant with a child.
"What do you mean 'get angry'?" Mehira asked with a smile on her face which got wider as Yondu glared at her. The speedster loved to piss off the Centurion archer just because she could and the fact that next to Petra she was the only one that Yondu never tried to kill well almost try not to kill.
"We are still trying to figure that out, Yondu. All we know is that neither Petra or Gamor thought that a child could be created out their relationship given their lifestyles and past." Mehira said as she could see the protectiveness in the blue skinned archer's eyes for Petra and that he was only acting like a father would.
Yondu looked at the red haired Terran that had just spoke to him. He didn't know why but there was something about that girl that he liked. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that she wasn't afraid to tell it like it was and that she could dodge his Yakka arrow without her superhuman-like powers. Or it may have had something to do with that it that she was always nice to everyone and she just had this light in her. Also it could be the fact that she wasn't afraid of him when she had first met him three years ago and had pissed him off about something and he had tried to kill her with his arrow only for her to reverse the arrow back at him just by watching him and listening to the tones he used to control the Yakka arrow.
"Well, obviously it happened." Yondu growled out in a sarcastic tone of voice. He wanted nothing more than to turn Gamor into a pin cushion but the Space Pirate knew that his adopted daughter was just as much to blame in this predicament but Yondu would rather blame Gamor just for the fun of it.
Petra looked up from the trash can for a moment and rolled her eyes at the antics of the man she saw as a father. Sure, Yondu may be a hard ass when it can to his crew and somewhat bloodthirsty when you betrayed him but he care about those on his ship. Petra was thankful for the way Yondu had treated and raised her when he had kidnapped her when she had lost her mother.
Petra now knew from rumors that she heard when she was on The Ravager's ship about a year ago due to injury from an mission gone bad that Yondu and his crew were paid to kidnapped her as soon as her mother had died but she didn't find out who had paid The Ravagers to kidnap her but she did find out that Yondu had returned the money he was paid and that he was unaware that he was hired to kidnap a kid which was against The Ravagers code. The Half-human still didn't know the whole truth about what Yondu did when she was kidnapped but at the moment she really didn't care but someday she would ask her father-figure about her kidnapping and who had paid for her to be taken from Terra.
"So what are ya going to do about this?" Yondu asked as he still stood in the doorway glaring at Gamor and his adopted daughter. Yondu knew that some people would be after Petra because of her history and he would be damned if anyone tried to hurt his daughter in all but blood and his grandchild in all but blood.
"Well, as someone who once was a father and I still see myself as as a father and does know how dangerous it is when someone is carrying a child in their womb, I do know that it would unsafe for Petra to be in space with her being in the first stages of being pregnant at the moment as the roughness of the ship going back and forth would hurt her and the child she carries so I would suggest that she stay on Terra until the child is born and old enough to be taken on a ship which is more than enough time for us to baby proof our ship which that shouldn't be that hard since it's already mostly Rocket proof." Drax pointed out as Rocket gave an yell about the ship being Rocket-proof.
"I also think that would be good for Petra at the moment." Yondu said as he looked at Fury with a look in his eyes that made Fury feel a little uncomfortable at the moment. Not many, human or otherwise could scare the leader of SHIELD to the point of real fear. "Let me tell you one thing right now BALDY, if anything happens to Petra or her child while she is on this planet or if you keep her locked up because she is a threat or your little Scientists try to do anything other than keep her safe cause I do know and she does as well that you keep track of those who you think of a threats I will not be held responsible for my actions upon your crew and you should know right now that only those that hurt her will face my wraith and no one else." Yondu growled out as he looked Fury right in the eye.
"Knock it off Yondu." Petra yelled as she once took a break from puking to glare at her father figure.
"My question is where is Petra going to be staying since Avenger Tower is widely known on Terra and I would rather go back to prison than have Petra live with The Asgard and that prick Odin." Gamor pointed out as he remember his last visit with The Asgard which resulted in Sif getting her butt kicked by Petra who Sif had insulted and Rocket starting a fight with Hogun and Drax fighting/trying to kill Volstagg and Gamor trying to kill Fandal when he was looking at Petra's body to long. Groot really was the only one that had stayed out of trouble other than accidentally eating a couple of Frigga's plants that took a long time to grow but the Asgardian Queen just laughed at what had happened with her plants.
Then there was Odin who was being a major ass and preaching about humans being in Asgard which resulted in Petra trying to kill the prick of a so called king and got them kicked out of Asgard never to return unless you were injured or dying.
"She can stay with some 'friends' of mine. They know about you guys and have met Groot and Rocket and Petra could pass as a family member to the wife as she is red haired only brighter." Mehira said with a very evil grin on her face.
"I do not like that look on your face child as the last time you smiled like that Nova Prime wanted to kill you for your actions on Xandar involving some of the Ambassadors during the peace talks. What do you have planned for your friends as you call them and can they be trusted?" Drax asked as his father persona came out in regards to Petra. He was also concerned do to when ever the Terran super-powered child sitting in the chair was smiling the way she was. Nothing good ever came out a smile like that. It reminded Drax to much of Petra when she got a idea in her head.
"They can be trusted as the husband taught me how to use my speed powers when I got them and is trying to create a truce between The Justice League and SHIELD and he is very protective of his family and is of me even though I am not of his family. He will keep Petra's secret about who she is and so will his wife. Plus their trying for a baby but are having no luck so I think that maybe Petra can help them with conceiving. Also I owe Flash back big time for something he did that I will not talk about as it is not of SHIELDS business as it happened out of uniform." Mehira replied with a smile that slightly scared Fury and Yondu. "Plus, I'll be over at the house a couple times a week for training and check up on our loveable Star-Lady."
Gamor didn't know why but with the way Mehira was smiling it was like he was looking at a teenage version of Petra and the look on Yondu's face he was thinking the same thing. This young Terran with speed powers was evil in a good way but still evil.
"Hey! Don't I get a say in anything?" Petra yelled as she had finally stopped puking her guts out, at least for the moment. She didn't like when people talked about as if she wasn't there.
"NO!"
Petra let out a growl at everyone speaking the same word at the same time in the same tone about what she could do. But she could see where they were coming from. They were just worried about her and the baby which to be truthful so was she. She truly never thought that she would be able to have kids but now she was carrying one.
"My concern is how are we going to get Petra down to Terra when your rides are not the most safest and smoothest." Rocket asked as he recalled the rough rides on those damn helicopters.
"OH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! I AM PREGNANT! I AM NOT AN INVALID! I CAN HANDLE A RIDE ON SOMETHING THAT CAN GET ME DOWN TO TERRA! COMPARE TO MY SHIP THE RIDE ON A SHIELD TRANSPORT SHIP WILL BE A EASY RIDE OR DID YOU GUYS FORGET THAT I WAS ON THE SHIP FOR 3 WEEKS AND IT IS ONLY BY CHANCE THAT TERRA WAS IN THE REGION WHEN I PUKE EVERYTHING THAT I HAD EVER EATEN ON DRAX THAT WE MADE THE STOP!" Petra yelled before once again puking in the trash can.
"She's got a point." Gamor replied as he thought about the last 3 weeks of a rough and unstable ship which engines went out a lot during that time.
"Look, I promise you that Petra is going to be okay with Flash and his wife. Also there is another MUCH older speedster that is like the mentor to the current Flash that will help out along with his wife. Petra is going to be in safe hands. Plus you damn well know that one-eye is going to be keeping any eye on Petra when she's with the Flash family as they are the only ones that SHIELD knows about in their non-hero lives." Mehira told very protective group of mismatched aliens.
"What of these 'Rogues' that Central City is known for? Will they cause any harm to Petra?" Rocket asked as he had done some research on the villains of the Justice League and SHIELD.
"Please, The Rogues are more likely to hurt the ones that would hurt Petra. The Rogues have a code of honor that makes them outcasts in the villain world. They don't kill or hurt woman and children and are known for helping in times of need outside of robbing places. They don't even try to kill Flash or me when we fight. What makes The Rogues different then the other villains of Terra is that The Rogues view what they do as a career instead of a lifestyle. Let me put like this. The Rogues know who Flash is outside of being a hero and who his family is. They know who I am outside of being Kid Flash. Plus, they had a major fit when I made my debut at Kid Flash. You should have heard the yelling that Captain Cold who by the way is not a captain that is just his Rogue name did to Flash. I thought for sure that The Rogues were going to kill Flash. It took Pied Piper and Trickster who are few years older than and were adopted by the older Rogues after Pied Piper had been kicked out of his home for things he could not help and Trickster was getting the best of care to keep their guardians from killing my mentor." Mehira told her alien friends who she knew were just looking out for their leader.
"I am Groot."
"Yes, Groot. The Rogues will not hurt Petra in any way. Like I said they won't even hurt me. I do have to tell them some things about Petra that are the truth but not everything." Mehira told the talking tree who was concerned about his leader.
"Oh brother!" Petra groaned in annoyances at the protective streak her teammates had but she loved them.
"Would I be able to meet this Flash and talk to him?" Yondu asked with a dangerous glint in his eyes.
Petra saw the glint in her father-figure's eyes. It was the same glint he had when she had started a relationship when she was 15 with one of The Ravagers that was a few years older than her long before she had met and fell in love with Gamor. That relationship did not last long as it turned out the guy was only interested in getting her to sleep with him which was something that Petra would never do on a whim as even though she was a part of The Ravagers she had a strong set of morals. When Yondu had found out about what was going on, the captain ran to the room only to find that his adopted daughter had taken care of the situation by stabbing the jerk to the wall in very painful parts of his body. Yondu threw the jerk out of the ship into a sun after he had turn the guy into a pin cushion.. Yondu made it very clear that day that no one forces anyone to have sex with anyone with out their consent. It was after that incident that Petra avoided relationships all together but for some reason Yondu was accepting of Gamor to a point but give the situation that was going on Petra feared for her lover's life.
"Yes, you may meet with Flash but I should warn you that his wife though human does have a wicked right hook and is not afraid to tell it like it is. Plus, she does have a tendency to break frying pans over the heads of the those who make her mad. Long story on that and I will explain that when we head planet side. Oh and one more thing. I would advice you to leave your Yakka arrow with Hawkeye as there is no way that Flash's wife would let you in her home with any type of weapon. Fury's even scared of her." Mehira told the Centurion archer as she saw Fury glare at her with his eye. "Don't give me that look Fury. She is one of the only people that you are scared of that is not on the threat list because you pissed her off with that one comment and you know what that one comment is."
Petra looked at the 15 year old girl. It was like she was seeing herself at 15. This was an young girl that was not afraid to show up the older generation but did it by being truthful.
"I'll set up a neutral spot where everyone can meet and what I mean by everyone is NO SHIELD agents no matter what. If i find that there is even a Avenger at the meeting, I am not going to be responsible for my actions on them even if it's my parents." Mehira growled out to Fury as she knew that he was going to try to get somebody watching Yondu and Flash when they would meet but that was not going to happen.
"I have a duty to protect Earth from threats." The one-eyed commander told the speedster.
"How is someone that looks like a smurf that really needs to see a dentist that is also a father figure of someone who was born on Earth and is pregnant that just wants to see the human that is his adopted daughter is going to be staying with during her pregnancy a threat?" Mehira asked with a death glare that she had learned from Batman. The speedster really did respect Fury as he was only doing his job on keeping Earth safe but sometimes he went a little overboard.
Fury let out a groan. It did seem that Mehira had been spending to much time with Batman judging from the glare he was receiving from the 15 year old. But Mehira did have a point. Yondu had been playing nice with SHIELD every time he was Earth other than not giving up his Yakka arrow but that was well known since Yondu had first became known by SHIELD when Petra and her crew had crash landed much like they just did a day ago. Yondu had thought that SHIELD had taken Petra and her crew prisoner but the truth was were only treating their injuries and getting to learn about things. Yondu and a few of his crew that had helped raise Petra had managed to sneak onto Earth and onto the ship and had taken down everyone including Black Widow and Hawkeye who the lather had developed an respect do to both being archers of sorts. Fury later had learn once everything had been taken care of and everyone's injuries had been treated that Yondu could have killed everyone on the shop but didn't as he was only rescuing the Earth born woman that he saw as a child from what he thought was an enemy of his.
"Fury, you are good protector of Earth but this in not anything that involves a threat. Yondu is just a dad that wants to make sure his daughter is taken care of. Believe me, mom and dad were going nuts when I started to work with Flash and the others when I needed to train my speed powers. You also should know that I will be at the meeting to make sure that nothing bad happens." Mehira said to everyone who just looked at her.
"OH COME ON!" Mehira exclaimed. "Do you really think that I would put Petra or anyone in danger? Flash treats me like I'm his kid which does make my dad very mad but the reason I suggested Flash and his wife is because SHIELD is on good terms with him and Flash would die protecting his family and would also die protecting Petra."
Fury once again looked at the only child of The Avengers. Mehira did have some very good dilipmic points which is why Fury did have a feeling that she would be the one to break the barrier between The Justice League and The Avengers. She also had the respect of several alien leaders and in Yondu's crew case a few space pirates.
"I'll let the SHIELD agents on Earth know what their orders are and that they are not to be any where near your meeting area." Fury told the teenager that was more trouble than Tony Stark at times and gave him a headache more faster as well.
"Make sure that you do that cause I will not regret my actions if you should have some agents spy on meeting." Mehira replied with a grin that scared Drax and Yondu.
Fury left the room leaving Mehira with the aliens in the room.
"Answer me something girl. I know that you are the daughter of someone that does not believe in violence but you are not afraid to fight." Yondu said. He had met Hank Pym once and did somewhat like the man but couldn't get past his ways.
"Dad taught me to think the situation out before fighting. He may be a pacifist but he did not pass his beliefs onto me only to think before I did anything. Fury and the agents know that I always back up my threats. I meant what I said. You are a father that just wants to make sure that his daughter is going to be safe. Like I said, dad did the same thing when I started training with Flash." Mehira told the alien archer.
"When will you arrange the meeting?" Yondu asked.
"It's gonna take a day or two and I want Petra to be there but that can't happen until the doctors deem that she's safe to travel. And I meant what I said about the Yakka arrow and leaving it with Hawkeye. This meeting is a meeting of peace and if you bring weapons with you that's not going to look like a peace talk. Although if you think about it, Flash's entire body is a weapon with his speed." Mehira pointed out. "I'll figure something out. Right now I think that you should get Petra back to bed and get fluids in her." Mehira said as she got up and let the room.
"For someone so young in her race's lifespan, she does have great wisdom or has a death wish sometimes." Drax said to no one.
"That's true."
Next chapter: Flash and Yondu met to discuss Petra's care while Loki makes an appearance with some bad news.
