Author's Note: I am more sorry than you can imagine, believe me. This delay wasn't meant to happen never mind last as long as it did, I've never missed THREE updates and I never will again. I wrote a few attempts at this chapter but I wasn't happy with any of them, and I've learned in the past that posting an update you're not happy with doesn't do anyone good. The problem then was getting the time to update, with school and stuff I've barely had any time, and I've been busy these past few weekends. But I'm posting this update tonight, and catching up on the other two updates as soon as possible. I'm really sorry guys, I didn't meant to take this long. All I can say is thanks everyone for sticking with the story, I'll get the chapters you are all owed put up as soon as I get them written. Also to those who have reviewed and I've said I'd read your stories, I'm taking care of that as soon as I can too. Thanks for the new favourites and follows, and to Flowerchild23, kittykat6625, SilverDragon13, sadlyhuman1997, Guest (response below), Me (response below), TheGoofyCat, Eveline Wulf and rickee.i.b for their reviews. Hope yoy enjoy this, I'll be all caught up soon, promise!

Guest: Thanks for the review! Yeah don't worry the tension will be released, I just don't want to rush things and end up having everything happen at once, hope you enjoy the rest of the story! :)

Me: I am sooooo sorry this took so long, I hope you want to read! I didn't mean to take as long as I did :( I'm really glad you like the story and want to know what happens, I just love your reviews they always make me smile! It's especially great to hear you think my characters are realistic, that's always a worry with me :S anyway, I really hope you like what I have planned and I swear never to take this long again, hugs :)

Disclaimer: I do not own The Lost Boys, just my OCs.

"Is this really what you call helping me with shelving the tapes?"

Paul looked up from where he had been spinning in circles on the wheeled cart that held the tapes I had offered to sort on the shelves, "What? I'm helping."

"How exactly?" I asked with a laugh.

"I'm making this far less boring than it could be without my awesome entertainment." He boasted, spinning in another circle.

I shook my head, "Can you make yourself useful and pass me some more tapes?"

He juggled an armful over to me and let me balance them, I pulled the cart with me as I saw the next tape and brought it down to the section it was to be put in, Paul pouted as I robbed him of the opportunity to surf it down there himself.

"What would happen if some of these tapes were to mysteriously disappear on their journey from the cat to the shelf?" He said, picking one up randomly and eyeing it up.

I snatched it off him, "I would kill you."

"But I'm invincible." He argued.

"Oh I'd find a way." I shot back.

The place was pretty quiet except for me and Paul and my mom at the counter, so when someone else walked in it was pretty hard to miss them.

Nick caught my eye and started to walk over before he realised Paul was standing beside me, his pace slowed and he turned to inspect one of the shelves, sneaking a sideways glance at me.

"Stay here, I'll be right back." I told Paul, walking past him and over to Nick, "Hey, what's up?" I asked as I came over.

He jerked his head in Paul's direction, "What's blondie doing here? You attached at the hip or something?"

I sighed, "We're just hanging out. Is everything alright?"

"Still haven't found Zach."

I grimaced, "Nick I think you know what that means at this point, it's been almost a week."

His shoulders sagged in defeat and he nodded with his eyes cast downwards, "I know, I was hoping we could hang out but it looks like you're busy so-"

I caught his arm as he went to turn away, "No, no! It's fine, I'll just let Paul know that we're hanging out, I'll be back in a second." I told him, turning to jog back over to Paul.

"Hey I-"

"I heard, it's cool." He cut me off waving his hand dismissively, damn I forgot about his super hearing, "Just keep him away from David and you should be fine."

I nodded, Paul had advised to keep Nick and David at separate ends of the boardwalk as much as I could. David was still very unhappy with the fact Nick was still breathing, it didn't matter how clueless Nick seemed, I knew he'd be suspicious no matter what so it was my job to do all I could to stop him getting any ideas.

"Sorry for kicking you out, I know you just love sorting tapes." I teased.

He shrugged, "It's not so bad, catch you later girl."

I smiled then froze as he planted a quick kiss on my cheek before walking past me, my head whipped round to follow him in surprise as he waltzed past Nick, his head turning slightly to meet Nick's furious glare. Oh, the kiss was to piss Nick off, and it seemed to do the job quite well.

I hid a smile of pure disbelief at Paul's tactics, hiding it when Nick walked up to me, "What the hell was that?"

"What?" I asked innocently, gesturing for him to follow me out the door, I shouted goodbye to my mom and waited until Nick caught up with me outside the store. "So what now?"

Nick looked around with a blank expression, "I don't know, beach?"

"I didn't agree to get drunk." I warned him.

He held his hands up, "I never said you-"

"I'm not gonna watch you get drunk either." I cut him off, and his jaw clenched as he realised that was what tended to happen when we walked around the beach until he found a group of friends of his.

"So what do you want to do then?"

It wasn't a question of what I wanted to do, but more a question of what could we do without David seeing us, then it clicked.

"Video store? We could rent a movie and watch it at mine?" I suggested.

He nodded, "I guess that'd be cool, I get to pick though."

"Fine, just no horrors." I said, knowing my luck he'd pick a vampire movie.

So the video store seemed a safe bet, Max didn't allow the guys in there so they'd steer clear. As soon as we walked in Nick began browsing the shelves, I did the same, gradually making my way around the store. Must resist renting Pretty In Pink again.

I eventually made my way over to where another person was standing, I was planning to just skip to their other side and continue browsing when the insane amount of colours that adorned their jacket registered and I looked up in alarm.

"What the hell are you doing in here?" I demanded in a whisper, I checked the other side of the store to see Nick picking tapes down and reading the backs.

Marko turned his head and raised his eyebrows, "Well, hello to you too." He said sarcastically with a smirk.

I shook my head quickly, "Okay that may have been rude, I didn't think any of you would be in here, I'm here with Nick."

"And that is my problem how?" He grinned.

"Because I don't want David seeing him, where is David anyway, and Dwayne?"

"Dwayne's away to grab some food." To anyone else it sounded like a perfectly harmless activity, but I knew what he really meant and suppressed a shudder as the image flashed in my head of exactly what kind of food Dwayne would be having, "And David's... In the back."

My eyebrows furrowed, "What?"

I followed Marko's gaze to where the back of the store was, just in time to see a door open and Max walk out closely followed by David. Oh crap.

"I thought Max didn't want David in here." I said almost to myself.

"He doesn't, but he can't exactly stop us." Oh yeah, seeing as they're vampires, Max wouldn't be wise messing with them anyway.

David nodded to Marko before he noticed me standing beside him, it was no use trying to avert my gaze, so I gave a strained smile.

I forced my gaze to hold David's and not flick around the store to try and locate Nick like I really wanted to, I just had to play it cool. Sure enough David's eyes went back to Marko, who passed by me fluidly on his way out the door.

I watched David carefully to see him cast a glance back at Max who stood at the counter, his gaze slid over to me once more before he turned and walked out of the store. I let out a breath of relief and let my eyes wander freely, funnily enough my gaze met Max's and he smiled politely.

I returned it and then went over to where Nick was, he had about three tapes in his arms and I scanned my eyes over the titles, "Alright, we got enough, we're not going for a marathon."

Nick followed me to the counter where we deposited the tapes and Max came over, "So how are we this evening?"

"Fine." We answered in unison, although I sounded far more polite than Nick did. I shot him a look before smiling at Max, "How are you?"

"Oh just fine, let's see. These will be due back in three days, enjoy your movies." He said, sliding the videos back across the counter and taking the money I had set down.

"Thanks!" I called back, Nick was already on his way out of the store, "What's gotten into you?" I asked as I caught up with him, handing him two tapes.

He shrugged, "I don't like that guy, he gives me the creeps."

"I think he's nice." I defended.

"Yeah, a little too nice to some people, total perv if you ask me." He snorted, "But I guess you don't have any problems socialising with creeps?"

I stopped, "Of course not, I seem to be in the present company of one. Are you gonna be like this the entire night now?" I demanded, he stopped a few steps ahead and sighed.

"Sorry, I'll behave."

"Promise?" I asked, holding my pinky up.

"Aren't we a little old for pinky swears?" He asked, a gave him a look that told him you were never too old for pinky swears, he rolled his eyes and reluctantly linked his pinky with mine, dropping his hand quickly and continuing to walk, I followed after with a smirk as he did his best to square his shoulders and look tough again.

"God you have more clothes every time I'm in here." Nick called from my room where he waited while I washed off my make-up in the bathroom.

"I just customise things, a lot of it's old stuff I never wore so I ripped it up, added lace, whatever works." I said, making my way back into the bedroom when I finished.

"And you have more scarves than any one person needs, is this new?" He said, picking up a red one. Oh crap, that's the one Dwayne gave me.

"Nope, this isn't new." I said, subtly taking it off him pretending to inspect it, when he got distracted by something else I shoved the scarf in a random drawer, "Okay, let's go put a movie on."

"Would you really turn me into a vampire?"

Paul looked up in surprise, "What the hell is in that magazine that made you think of vampires?" He asked, reaching over to take it off me and inspect the pages, "All I see are clothes."

"Yeah, you're probably not used to seeing clothes on girls in magazines." I shot back, gesturing to the Playboy magazine he had been reading, snatching the fashion magazine I had bought back off him.

"Oh you wound me, Shorty. So come on, what's got you pondering vampire life?"

I shrugged, "Just thinking, you did offer me some the night that I found out."

"That was a joke, I wasn't serious. Juts trying to lighten the mood, you did looked freaked out after Dwayne had spilled the beans."

I nodded, "I probably did. So you aren't gonna make me be a vampire?"

He snorted, "No, I'm all for being up front about it. It's better that way, you know exactly what you're getting. It's a lot less confusing if you know beforehand."

"You didn't?" I asked, shutting the magazine and stretched out on the bed in the caves, leaning my chin on my elbows.

He stood with a leg bent against the wall of the caves, his arms folded as he looked up at the ceiling, "I don't remember knowing much, even remembering's getting a bit tough. All I know is my life was pretty shit before, now it's good. So what else is there to worry about?" He said with a casual smile.

"Was your first time killing someone tough?"

His nose wrinkled, "Again I can't really remember, I s'pose it might have been tough coming round to the idea of killing people. Now it feels ordinary, it doesn't bother me. It's like the first time you realise the meat you eat was actually an animal at one point, like a cow or a chicken. Sure you're a little freaked at first, but then you realise it's food and you need food, so you come round to the idea. I bet eating meat doesn't bother you?"

I thought for a second, "Not now, but I do remember crying the first time I found out where lamb chops came from."

Paul laughed, "Poor little Bryn. Anyway, now it's totally fine. But still, I'm not sure it's for your just yet."

"Just yet?" I said with a quirked eyebrow.

"You seem a little young." He pointed out.

I made a point of looking outraged, "I'm eighteen thank you very much!"

"Really?" He said, looking surprised, "Just kidding, I thought you were around that age. But c'mon, at eighteen you got your whole life ahead of you! Speaking of which, why is such a pretty young thing like you still doing here when you could be anywhere?"

I shrugged, "I just never pictured leaving Santa Carla, I've lived here my whole life. And I think I'd miss my parents too much if I left."

"Aw, it's cute that you get on with your parents. Don't see that a lot today."

"You know you sound too old when you say stuff like that, like an old man." I teased.

He held a hand up to his chin, "Does this face look like it's old?"

"A little." I teased, ducking when he threw his magazine at me, "I'm kidding, you don't look a day over... Thirty-five?"

"You're dead." He threatened.

"Whatever you say, Grandpa." I opened my magazine and casually started flipping through the pages until I was hit with a pillow, a little too hard because it burst and feathers went everywhere, "If David gets angry, I'm blaming you." I said, blowing a feather that floated in front of my face.

"Hey, you're the one that looks like a chicken." Paul argued, pulling a feather out of my hair, I ran a hand through only for it to come out covered in feathers.

"Well there's a simple solution to that problem." I said, jumping up to grab another pillow and swing it at him.
