London, 24 hours before
"Thank you, Sebastian. " Amelia said as he opened the door for her.
"It's nothing to thank me over my Lady. " Sebastian then said as he offered his hand to her to help her descend the carriage they had been on for so long.
Yesterday at dinner Ciel informed her they would be traveling to London for a Holiday of sorts. Then when morning came and after Bard and Finny placed all their luggage in the carriage, they parted for London, to which, after long hours of awkward silence between her and Ciel, who had been so keen on avoiding her he just told her to be quiet because she was distracting him from reading the same newspaper over and over again like it was the most interesting thing in the world thinking she wouldn't notice every time she tried to start a conversation with him, they had finally arrived. Though something didn't feel right to Amy. Since when did Ciel take vacations, much less take her along with him? Knowing him it probably was just some business meeting, but if so, the question remained. Why had he brought her along? This was certainly very unusual of him, but she really wasn't going to question it too much. She was just glad to be able to go out of the manor for a change, really.
Amy then was brought back from her thoughts as Sebastian politely asked if she could move and then proceeded to help her brother out of the carriage. Afterwards he had all the luggage be taken down and placed in the appropriate rooms by the staff of the house they would be staying at. Then and only then did they finally make their way inside of the house. As they walked up the stairs Ciel started frowning and sighed annoyed. Then he stopped walking all together for a second, causing both Amy and Sebastian to stop walking as well, before saying,
"I hate this. There are too many people in London."
"There is no helping it, my lord. It's tradition for the nobility to migrate en masse to town from the country every Season." Sebastian then told Ciel while Amy simply stared at him in disbelief. He had been the one to suggest coming here, and now he was complaining about having to come to London? " Sometimes, well actually more like all the time, I don't understand you brother…" She couldn't help but think as he continued to complain and Sebastian kept on telling him how this would be good, to be away from the manor for a while and from all the noise from Bard, Finny, and May-Rin, and how the peace of this place would help him. Though suddenly a familiar voice came from a room on the second floor, making them be quiet and Amy squeal in excitement, before running up the rest of the steps. She then opened the door and just like she expected, there she was, Madame Red. She had known it was her, the moment she heard the voice from downstairs. She wasn't alone though, her butler Grell was with her and that Asian man from before was there too. They all seemed to be moving and throwing things around. It seemed like they where searching for something.
"Goodness's sake! Where do they keep the tea in this house?" Madame red said as she opened a cabinet. "Oh so thats what they're looking for." She thought just as Ciel and Sebastian finally seemed to have caught up.
"I can't find it either..." The Asian man then said as Ciel and Sebastian's eyes widened at seeing all the people in the room. Madame Red then yelled something at the Asian man before Ciel sighed annoyed. He then, pinching the bridge of his nose, asked what they were all doing there.
The two stopped bickering for a moment and Madame red smiled as she set her eyes on both Ciel and Amelia. "Ciel, you're early, dear." She told him before turning to look at Amy with a warm smile. "And you've brought your dearest sister along it seems. Come here Amy, let your aunt give you a hug!" Amy happily smiled back at Madame Red, before running towards her and hugging her tightly. "I'm so glad you're here Auntie Angie." Amy told whispered to her and Madame Red smiled, as she whispered back she was glad Amy was there too. Then they both let go of each other and went back to where they had been standing before. Everyone in the room then starred at each other before looking back at Amy. It looked like they wanted to discuss something but they couldn't and Amy figured out pretty quickly it was probably because she was there. How bad could it be, what they wanted to talk about, if they didn't want for her to found out about it? But before she could ponder on it much longer, Madame Red offered for Grell to take her out for a while to some shops in London, if it was all right with her and Ciel. He immediately agreed and in a few seconds Grell and Amy found themselves out the front door. Amy sighed sadly. She felt hurt. She understood if Ciel pulled this type of stuff on her, but now Madame Red as well? What where they hiding from her? Why did they always assume that she couldn't handle anything? Why did they always push her away?
"Mistress! Please don't look so sad. I'll take you wherever you want, but please smile young Mistress!" Grell nervously told her handing her his handkerchief. At first she didn't understand why he was giving it to her but then she realized there were tears falling down her face. She then took the handkerchief and thanked Grell as she wiped her tears away. "Could you take me to get something sweet?" She asked him. "Of course, young mistress! Anywhere you wish." He told her and went to get a carriage right away. Amy then sighed and turned to look at the windows of the house where she could faintly make out the figures of her brother and Madam Red while they talked to that Asian man, Lau.
"What secrets are you two keeping from me?"
Ciel´s P.O.V.
"Okay, now that my sister has gone we can speak freely." Ciel said as Sebastian brought him some tea and refreshments and he sat down to eat. He was relieved that Madame Red had that idea when she did. He didn't want Amelia involved in any of the Phantomhive's duty as the guard dogs for the Queen. He was the head of the family, and he would take care of that. Amy had to lead a happy life, unaware of all the darkness surrounding their family. He would make sure of that.
"So my dearest nephew, your sudden appearance here in town must mean..." Madame Red started but trailed off, making Ciel wake from his thoughts as Lau finished for her saying, "The Queen's guard dog has a new scent to follow."
Ciel sighed and then nodded. "Yes, you're quite right on that actually. He struck again. Another prostitute was found gruesomely murdered in Whitechapel. The killings are far from normal and the level of violence we're seeing is unprecedented." Ciel proceeded to tell them before taking a sip from his tea and letting Sebastian finish telling all the details.
"The most recent victim was a woman named Mary Ann Nichols. It appears a special type of blade was used on her, as she was torn up beyond recognition." Said the demon looking at the reactions of of every one in the room.
"And now, the murderer's distinctive style of killing has earned him a unique nickname from the press: "Jack the Ripper." Ciel then added after Sebastian finished speaking.
"A frightening name, eh?" Lau asked teasingly but Ciel ignored him and went on to explain that was the only reason he was earlier than expected. "I decided to hurry into town to look into the situation for myself." He said. This statement seemed to amuse Lau who got up from his seat and walked towards Ciel.
"But are you sure you'll be brave enough to stomach the crime scene?" He asked him as he placed his hand on Ciel's cheek. Ciel cringed internally as Lau's hand pinched his cheek. "Why, who does he think he is to do this and ask me such ridiculous questions.?" Ciel thought to himself, before asking just that.
"And what ever do you mean by that?"
Lau smiled at him, before going in detail about the horrors of what it's like to see a dismembered body. The stench, the blood and gore... he then asked him if he was really prepared to see something like that considering his age an all." Well if that's what has you worried let me remind you that I am the head of the Phantomhives in service to my Queen. So don't ask foolish questions." Ciel told him then as he glared at Lau in disdain for that cheap shot at him about his young age. "You're right. So sorry." Lau then apologized to him, removing his hand from his face and walking back to his seat.
"Sebastian!" Ciel then said.
"Yes, my Lord?" Said demon replied.
"Prepare a carriage, we are going out. There are some crime scenes to inspect, and some people to see."

Around the same time, in some office of the Grim Reaper Dispatch
Unknown P.O.V.
"Next two please!"
"Just one."
"Just one."
I rolled my eyes, and turned to look at the person who had answered at the same time as me. He was tall, had messy but short styled hair that was a silky black like the feathers of a raven, and possessed the same kind of greenish-amber eyes that could only belong to someone of our kind, except one of them was half painted with a ruby red spot while the other wasn't. I recognized him immediately; there really was no mistaking him with those eyes of his. There were only two shinigami I had ever met with weird eyes like that, and he, the person standing right beside me, the one and only, Ryan Sutcliff, was one of them. And today he happened to be by himself, I noticed quickly and thankfully not only for myself but also for everyone in the room as well, as I gave him a once over. It was common knowledge at this point how much his annoying older sibling loved to cause mayhem and when it came to the Sutcliff siblings, where one went the other was never too far behind.
We stared at each other for a few more seconds before the elder called on us once more.
"Sorry but you two know it has got to be in pairs. Know kids, either you two get partners, get out of line or…" The elder started but trailed off as he switched between staring at the two of us.
"Or what?" I asked.
"You could always work together…"
My eyes widened. Me work with Sutcliff? I turned to look at his expression but his face gave nothing away, as usual. I closed my eyes and sighed as I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Should I do it? I mean after last time… and this assignment is extremely important nothing that happened back then can repeat itself or it could screw up everything…" But before I could even begin to decide, the sound of Ryan's deep voice, who seemed to finally have the decency to speak, broke me out of my thoughts.
"I don't mind any option, It's up to her really." He said as all the other people in the dispatch seemed to pick that exact same moment to shut up and I couldn't help feeling like everyone was starring at me, waiting to see what my answer would be as everything went silent for a second.. "I… I don't kno-" I started but stopped mid sentence as the elder shook his head in disapproval and sighed, saying,
"Look Ms. Spurling there really is no choice, that was just a courtesy I was giving the both of you, really. Everyone else already has a partner and anyways if I'm correct," He paused for a second to look at a notepad I had not even noticed he had in his hands before looking back up to continue. " …you two have the same assignment anyways, so that makes you partners already."
What the hell was the elder talking about? Nobody had told me I had to have a partner for my assignment this morning in the office. They just gave me the paperwork and mentioned briefly that there could be other people from other divisions working in that area, but most likely from the time period, unlike myself, so I wouldn't be working with anyone I knew, except for maybe William and maybe that Knox guy. Now I had to work with a partner, and even worse, Ryan-freaking-Sutcliff! What the hell was this, April fools? Of all the people they could have chosen, I mean wasn't it bad enough already that I had to see the guy almost everyday at Raijin? "I'm not doing it…" I then said to the elder and glared at Sutcliff.
"I refuse to work with him."
The elder then rolled his eyes before ripping a piece of paper from his notepad and giving it to Ryan. He then proceeded to do the same with another piece but this time handed it to me as he said, "Look Ms. Spurling I frankly don't have the time for this and those are your orders, so do follow them. I don't care if you don't like Mr. Sutcliff, everyone here at the dispatch isn't here to like one another. We are here to do our jobs and that's precisely what you'll do, understood?"
My eyes widened at his words a second time just for a brief moment, but then went back to normal as I shook my head in frustration and took the piece of paper from him.
"Yes sir, I understand. I apologize for my insolence." I then said with a bitter smile as I glanced at Ryan who proceeded to raise an eyebrow at me in surprise and confusion, probably because I had notput as much of a fight as he had expected from me for being forced to work along side him.
" Don't look at me so surprised Sutcliff… you should know me better by know. I'll get out of working with you, just wait and see…" I couldn't help but think as the elder smiled in approval at what I had said and told us to go on to complete our mission, before calling the next pair in line to give them theirs.
"Just you wait and see."
…...
AN: Hi guys! (Yes I know, the sky is going to fall I finally freaking updated!) First of all I apologize for taking so long to update and that when I finally did it was such a shitty chapter, I moved at the beginning of the year, then I ended up switching between two schools and I was just having a lot of stuff going on and difficulty fitting in and being comfortable in my daily life that it all just added up and it just didn't let me continue writing. I know there really is no excuse and that it's ridiculous the amount of time I have let pass without updating, so once again I apologize and I want to let you all know that now that I have more or less settled in, I will try to update way more often.
Oh, and do let me know if you liked the new OCs, or if you have any questions about them. I really just introduced them in this chapter and I was trying not to give too much away other than the fact that one of them is related to Grell. Also just so you guys now, not one of the two is the person who had been watching from the roof top on the previous chapter, though I will spoil that they will be involved with that character. I know at this moment they seem super out of place, though they will not in future chapters, I promise. Oh! and one last thing on these two, some of you probably already picked up they are a little different from the shinigami from the show (red spot on one eye, one or two different abilities) I will not let you know much about this now but next chapter (well maybe even in this one, though it's a little early I think) pay really close attention to our unnamed shinigami's words and maybe you'll figure out what's up with these two.Anyways, sorry about the long AN, and next chapter soon!
