Santana growled loudly as she clenched her phone tightly in her hand. The woman she had found to look after Alejandra had just at the last moment backed out. And now Santana was stuck with no babysitter and no time to try and find another one. Gaddamn fucking shit! Think Santana think! Santana bit her lip then opened her contacts. 'I hope she meant it.'

'Fabray'

Ouch I woke the beast. 'Quinn I need a favour.' Santana decided that waking Quinn up made it necessary to forgo niceties. Otherwise Quinn might just hang up on her.

Quinn groaned as she tried to see her bedside clock. 'Jesus fucking christ Santana do you know what fucking time it is?'

'I know Quinn and I am sorry. But I really need you to do something for me. Please?' Santana winced, she sounded desperate and she knew that she was. If Quinn said no she was out of options. And that would not get her week of to a good start.

'I swear if this is a coffee run call I am going to strangle that gorgeous neck of yours Santana!'

Santana nearly chuckled that was as close to a forgiven as she was going to get from Quinn. Still such a grumpy bitch in the morning. 'I need someone to look after Alejandra for the day. My regular sitter is still not up to it, and my replacement just can...

'I'll be right there.' Quinn didn't even need Santana to finish, she was definitely not going to give Santana a chance to think about it twice. This was like a Christmas present to her.

This time Santana did snort. Quinn was really easy to read sometimes. And her eagerness to spend time with Alejandra was only making her like Quinn more. She is so different, or maybe she just finally is who she always was. Who knows. Santana cocked her head then grinned. 'Do you still jog Quinn?'

Quinn stopped struggling with the blankets. She was sure that that question was some sort of trap. But her mind was still half asleep. 'Yes three times a week when I can manage.'

'Great. You feel like joining me and some of my soldiers for my morning jog?' Santana grinned hen she heard Quinn groan. Well ok so maybe she was being unfair springing this on Quinn. Ehhh she should be used to it, we both spent way to many mornings under Sue's insanity. She just needs a little prod. 'Oh come on blondie are you telling me that you are scared the NYPD can't hold up to the army?'

'Oh that was just low.' Quinn knew she was being bated, and she knew full well that Santana knew exactly how to do it. Hit her pride. 'You best be ready army, cause I am going to whoop your ass. Text me where to meet you.'

Santana laughed loudly, this was going to be fun. And if she was any kind of judge Quinn would outrun her sorry bunch of soldiers. A lesson in humility. 'You got it.'

'Hey is that the Sarge?' Brooks blinked confused as they all watched Santana make her way to them with a stroller in hand. 'Did you know she had a kid?'

'Oh fucking great, Malibu barbie brought her offspring. How quint.' Mills groused receiving a smack in the head from Jensen.

'You are just pissed because she doesn't take your shit. She's good and you know it.' Jensen said easily as Santana crossed the road to get to them. 'Morning ma'am.'

'Morning.' Santana had to mentally slap herself from laughing at the varied faces before her. But all of them had an element of curiousness. And why wouldn't they. They knew nothing about her except her rank. So this was unprecedented. Just wait until they see Quinn. 'We'll get going in a moment, just waiting on one last person. I would advise getting stretched out.'

'You ever take your own advice Santana?' Quinn asked as she snuck up behind Santana making her start a bit.

Santana closed her eyes and chuckled wryly. 'Don't need to I can beat your with my hands tied behind my back...always could Captain my captain.'

'Oh it's on. Let me show you how we do it in the NYPD.' Quinn winked then took off. '10 Miles right?'

'Hey that's cheating!' Santana took off after Quinn then looked over her shoulder. 'What are you slackers waiting for, an invitation?'

'No Sergeant!' They chorused and took off after the other two women.

'What the fuck was that?' Saber asked as they set a steady pace. He was sure they would never have to run as much as Santana was making them do. He hated it.

'Dunno, but her friend sure is smoking hot though.' Harris grinned huffing loudly.

Mills rolled her eyes. 'You are all pigs and you don't stand a snowballs chance in hell, not to mention that they are kicking our asses.'

'Yea and ain't that sad.' Jensen said dryly and then concentrated on his breathing. He had the feeling this was going to a be chase from start to finish. And they were doing the chasing.

Quinn laughed as she and Santana finally stopped in front of the base gates. They had pretty much kept step with each other the whole way. The same could not be said about the rest of the group. 'Like old times huh?'

'I still say you have an unfair advantage.' Santana grumbled good naturedly.

'You have been telling me that for years. And I do not have freakishly tall legs.' Quinn looked around then started laughing. 'If that is the best the army has we are in serious trouble.' Quinn pointed at Santana's soldiers as they came straggling towards them. 'Hell Santana what did you guys do with them?'

Santana rolled her eyes, she couldn't really say anything Quinn was right. 'Hustle up people or we might just go again!'

Quinn threw her head back and laughed as the group suddenly seemed to find their second wind. 'I would love to see their faces if you did that to them.'

'Me too, but as it is I apparently already am the odd man out making my guys do real PT. Apparently medics don't have to be as fit.' Santana said sardonically, she knew that was bullshit, but no one seemed to care. Well that is harsh. Only the other assholes training these guys.

'That makes no sense.' Quinn greedily sipped at her water bottle then handed it to Santana. 'Let me guys the other instructors never saw any kind of action?'

'You got it in one.' Santana didn't know why, but talking about this with Quinn made her feel better about it. 'Thanks for doing this Quinn. I can't remember the last time I had this much fun doing PT.'

Quinn nodded. 'Me either.'

'It's an open invitation.' Santana added with a shrug as Jensen finally reached them. The others right on his tail.

Quinn watched fascinated as Santana slammed her command mask on. It looked as if she had a lot of practise. Well can she get any more alluring? And what the hell Quinn you can not be thinking this about your friend! Pull it together. 'San I'll leave you too it. I'll see you tonight?'

Santana nodded and gave Quinn a quick smile. 'Thanks again Quinn and stay safe.'

Brittany sighed, she was not sure what she was supposed to do. She needed to talk to Quinn and she was ignoring her. She wanted to talk to Santana but didn't even know where to start. And she felt as if she maybe needed to apologize to Rachel as well. 'I so do not want to do that.' She nearly jumped out of her skin when her phone rang. 'Hello?'

'Britt honey did I catch you at a bad time?'

Brittany smiled, yea that was exactly like her mom to know exactly when she needed someone to talk to. 'No mom actually you have great timing.'

Sarah frowned, she knew Brittany and something was wrong she could hear it in her voice. 'You wanne talk about it?'

'Not really.' Brittany sighed and made herself comfortable on the couch, her mom would not let her get away with that at all. 'But I guess I should. I messed up mom.'

Sarah sighed and started to put the kettle on, she had the feeling they might be talking for a while. 'Well then honey you better start fessing up so we can figure out how to fix things.'

'Thanks mom.' Brittany knew that even with Holly's advice the previous day, her mom would probably be able to give her even more. She knew Santana and Quinn just about as well as she herself did. 'What would you do if you royally fucked up with the two women that meant the most to you. And neither of them were talking to you'

'Brittany Susan Pierce what did you do?'

'Why do you immediately assume I did something?' Brittany weakly defended herself. She never did like getting admonished by her mom. And it had been a long time. Your own fault though. You got yourself into this. 'Ok fine so maybe I did do something, but I didn't mean to. I really didn't mean to, things just got so out of hand. I just...I can't seem to let go. And it makes me do stupid things mom. I just want it to stop hurting.'

Sarah sat down slowly, she should have seen this coming. This all was to much and Brittany already had to much to deal with. 'I'll be there as soon as I can honey.'

'Mom no it's not necessary. I know you're busy!'

'I don't want to hear it Brittany. I am coming so you best get a room ready for your old mom. Besides I want to see Santana. I miss her.' Sarah said before Brittany could even start to think about wanting to talk her out of it.

'Ok mom.' Brittany laughed, it was never any use trying to argue with her mom when she had her mind made up. And maybe it would be exactly what she needed to get things right.

'Now start talking honey, I want to know what I'm walking into.'

'It's a really long story.'

Sarah snorted, sometimes her baby sure had the ability to state the obvious. 'Well I'm not going anywhere until you finish so start talking.'

'Mase! What have I told you about running off on your own.' Rachel chided her son lightly, they were on their way to the park and he always got overly excited and she had to be careful to not let him out of her sight or he would take of like a shot. Just like Pat.

Mase pouted but let his mom take his hand. But no one said he had to be happy about it. 'Hurry up mommy!'

Rachel laughed at his enthusiasm, she was sure that if her father's were there they would be running by now. But someone had to teach him patience. And wasn't that ironic, because she was well aware that patience was not her strong suit either. Life sure has a funny sense of humour. 'I am hurrying baby boy.'

'You're so slow!' Mase grumbled as he pulled Rachel by the hand to get there faster. He really wanted to get to the park and his mom was taking way to long. So he pulled harder and the next thing he knew he was sprawled flat on the ground.

'Mase! Oh god I am so sorry. Are you ok?' Rachel quickly picked Mase up before he had the time to realize that he might be hurt and then turned to the stroller that Mase had run over. 'I am so so sorry, he just got way from me.'

'Rach we're fine you can stop apologizing.'

Rachel blinked then shook her head. 'Quinn?' Have I really not seen her that long? And when did Quinn get a baby? What is going on?

Quinn grinned amused at Rachel's perplexed face. She sure hadn't figured she would run into Rachel, but it was a nice surprise none the less. Although explaining Alejandra would be interesting. 'Nice to see you too.'

'No, yes...I mean of course it's wonderful to see you again Quinn. It's been a while.' Rachel patted Mase on the back soothingly. He had apparently grown suddenly shy.

Quinn quickly checked that Alejandra was ok and chuckled when she saw her still fast asleep. Totally Santana's kid, nothing much ruffles her. 'He's gotten so big.' Quinn grinned at Mase it had been a few months since she had seen him.

'He is growing up way to fast. It was just yesterday when he was still my little baby boy.'

'Nu huh daddy says I'm a big boy.' Mase stated loudly shyness completely forgotten.

Quinn laughed then winked at him. 'Your daddy was right. You are a very big boy.'

'You're pretty.' Mase cocked his head then grinned charmingly at Quinn. 'Wanne play? Mommy is too boring, she never lets me do anything.'

Quinn bit her lip from laughing the look n Rachel's face was priceless to say the least. 'I'll tell you what Mase if you go play on your own for a while so I can catch up with your mommy we can go play on the swings for a while before you leave. Is that a deal?'

'Can I swing higher than high?' Mase asked crossing his arms stubbornly.

Quinn nodded solemnly. 'Promise.'

Mase held out his hand and shook Quinn's. 'Deal. Mommy can I now go play please?'

Rachel pursed her lips, but put him down. 'Stay where I can see you Mase.'

'Yes mommy.' Mase rolled his eyes then took of for the sandbox. Before his mom could change her mind.

'You just bribed my four year old Quinn Fabray.'

'Oh calm don Rach I was going to play with him anyway. This way we get a few minutes to catch up.' Quinn shrugged and made her way to the nearest bench where they would have a good view of the sandbox.

Rachel huffed, but figured that Quinn would probably be more forthcoming if Rachel didn't give her a lecture. 'It really has been way to long. You look good Quinn.' Rachel said and pointedly stared at the stroller which was turned just so she couldn't peek inside.

Quinn grinned, Rachel would never change. And being subtle had never been her strong suit. 'So do you. How's the show going?'

Rachel groaned inwardly, she should have known Quinn wouldn't give her any information that easily. 'Well we have a month left then it's time to move on for me again.'

'You have another project lined up?' Quinn asked she had seen the show Rachel was in at that moment and she was good like she always knew she would be. But she knew Rachel still hadn't landed that role of a lifetime she had always dreamt off. So Quinn was understandably curious.

'Well...' Rachel grinned she was dying to tell someone the good news and Quinn would keep it to herself. Just like Pat would after she had threatened him to within an inch of his life. 'It's big.'

Quinn smiled happily and patted Rachel on the back. 'Congradulations. Funny Gril?'

'Not that big...but close. Wicked.'

'Wow, well that is big. So Ms big star score me some tickets?' Quinn teased lightly.

Rachel nodded enthusiastically. 'I am going to send out tickets to everyone I know. So of course!'

Quinn arched an eyebrow at Rachel making her blanche. 'Everyone?'

Rachel cleared her throat softly. 'Well maybe not everyone.'

'I thought not. But I'm happy for you Rach.' Quinn's attention was broken when Alejandra started screaming. She rolled her eyes, well now the cat would literally be out of the bag. I just hope Santana wont kill me. 'I'm coming Drè. No need to show off.' Quinn carefully picked Alejandra up making herself comfortable.

'You need some help?' Rachel asked eagerly, she desperately wanted to get a better look at the baby Quinn was holding.

Quinn nodded there was no stopping Rachel anyway. 'Can you grab a bottle for her. I think this little one is hungry.'

'Oh Quinn she is beautiful.' Rachel cooed as she handed Quinn the bottle, who snorted when Aleandra started screaming when Rachel got to close.

'Oh god she is her mother's daughter.' Quinn quickly offered the bottle to Alejandra who greedily started sucking. 'Sorry about that, she does not like people.' And I doubted Santana. She'll get a kick about this though. Screaming her little head of at the mere sight of Rachel Berry.

Rachel retreated a little feeling completely miffed that the baby didn't like her. 'She has quite the lungs on her.'

Quinn laughed out loud at that, that was such an ironic thing to say coming from Rachel who did everything very loudly. 'Hello pot.'

'I am not that bad.' Rachel huffed indignantly she started laughing at Quinn's arched eyebrow. 'Ok ok so I might be that bad.'

'I say you just got all worked up because this four and a half month old didn't like you.' Quinn remarked dryly making Rachel chuckle even more.

'Yes well why don't you introduce us?' Rachel asked then took her first real look at Alejandra and blinked a few times. Her mouth literally dropping. It couldn't be could it?

'Figured it out?' Quinn asked softly partly enjoying the stunned look on Rachel's face and the other part nervous to her reaction.

'But she is in Iraq.' Rachel finally blurted.

'What?' Quinn blinked, her mind furiously trying to figure out what Rachel meant by that. 'How long have you known?' She finally snapped out angrily.

Rachel swallowed hard now that face she knew. 'I just found out yesterday Quinn I promise. Brittany asked me to look into some things for her and I just...'

'And you just were your over achieving self.' Quinn said angrily, she should have known Brittany that all this with Santana would make her go a little crazy. 'I am going to have words with Brittany. And you, you keep this to yourself. You don't know what happened you never did.' Quinn struggled to get up and not disturb Alejandra.

Rachel got up to try and help, feeling completely hurt when Quinn shrugged her off. 'Quinn I wasn't going to tell anyone. I only told Brittany because she asked me too. And I owed her that.'

Quinn whipped around and just stared at Rachel for a minute then shook her head. 'Is that what she told you?' Rachel didn't need to answer for Quinn to know the answer. Gaddamn Britt she has made up for mistakes, and you know it! 'You made up for your mistakes a long time ago Rachel. Don't let her do this to you. This isn't about you, or me or Santana for that matter it's about her.'

'But she's right, I never apologized.' Rachel shook her head she was not going to chicken out again.

'You don't get it, do you Rach. You apologized in you own way, I know you are the reason I get to see Beth Rachel. I know because Shelby made it clear that if you hadn't asked her to give me one more chance I would never have gotten to see her again.' Quinn choked a little bit. It had been three years after High School when Shelby had contacted her and she had since then gotten to see Beth a few times a year because Rachel had asked her to give Quinn another chance. That was one of the best days of her life and she would never be able to thank Rachel enough for the chance, because she had made good on it. 'And I know that for all of Britt's talent she wouldn't have gotten that first break if you hadn't tipped off the director of that play. So you see even if you never said the words I know. And so does Brittany.'

'Shelby wasn't suposssed to tell you.' Rachel sat back down hard. She hadn't ever wanted Quinn to know that. Because Quinn deserved the chance without her intervention.

'But she did, she made it clear it was the only reason that I could see her. And she kept me well up to date with everything you did.' Quinn sat back down again as well and sighed loudly. 'Brittany had no right to ask you what she did.'

'I feel like she did though.' Rachel hung her head then looked Quinn in the eyes. 'It's always bothered me what I did. And I apologize Quinn.'

Quinn nodded, she could see that Rachel needed to say it. For whatever reason. She herself knew the power of actually saying the words, it was usually for yourself not the other person. 'Apology accepted.'

'Do you think Brittany will ever forgive me?' Rachel asked as they both just stared at where Mase was playing with some of the other kids.

Quinn shrugged, she thought that Brittany finally was getting there, but now? She wasn't so sure. 'I don't think she'll be able to until she forgives herself.'

'I thought she was doing better.' Rachel said softly as she turned back to Quinn waiting for an answer. When Quinn made no move to answer or comment Rachel decided to change the subject. 'I know it's selfish, but would you introduce me?'

Quinn smiled sadly down at Alejandra who was staring up at her trying to grab her necklace again. Maybe she had over reacted. Rachel was a good person. And sooner or later Santana would meet up with her. This might just be a first step towards that. 'I think that is doable.'

'Thank you Quinn.' Rachel smiled down at Alejandra and shook her head in wonder. 'She is like a little Santana.'

'My thoughts exactly.' Quinn smiled crookedly, she could see that Rachel was itching to hold Alejandra, but was mindful of her previous reaction. 'Rachel I would like to introduce Alejandra Jessica Lopez. Dre this is Rach and old friend of your mami's. Now be nice.'

Rachel moved a little closer and was thrilled when Alejandra didn't scream. But she didn't look to happy to see her. Oh god that is the exact same look Santana used to give me! So cute. 'It's nice to meet you sweetie.'

Quinn sighed as her phone rang once again. Britt had been trying her for hours. But she was so angry at her that she didn't think she should answer. She knew she had to so she took another deep breath. 'Britt?'

'Oh thank god Quinn! I was starting to worry. Are you ok?' Britt asked a little unsure of herself. After her mother had lectured her on her very bad behaviour she felt completely cowed. But she had to try and apologize to Quinn.

'Don't even start with me Britt. Really don't.' Quinn growled softly, she was very aware that Alejandra was sleeping and she really didn't want to wake her up. 'You know exactly why I didn't answer.'

'I...I'm sorry.' Brittany said her voice small and soft. She had never had Quinn sound so hurt, angry and disappointed with her. And it hurt.

'You used me! You fucking used me Britt! Do you know how that makes me feel? How it felt having to talk to Santana after what you did?' Quinn said forcefully. Brittany had to hear this and to understand.

Britt bit her lip and nodded. 'I feel terrible! Ok I feel like heel. I am sorry!'

'No don't even! You slept with me, you had sex with me to make you feel better about being an ass to Santana and then in the morning you snuck out leaving me there like a cheap one night stand!' Quinn huffed out angrily, she should have waited to talk to Britt she knew it. But it was to late now. 'Oh and then I found out you once again made Rachel feel like shit! You know what she did for us both, and you know she has been making up for her mistakes for years! And you used her! I don't even know you any more Britt. I tried and I tried. I just can't anymore. I don't know how to help you. And maybe I made it worse by moving in with you because I gave you a crutch.'

'You...you don't mean that.' Brittany asked softly tears running down her cheaks.

Quinn bit her lip wiping her own tears. What are you doing Quinn? 'I won't be coming back. I'm moving out.'

'No, nononononononono? Quinn you can't be serious. Please don't do this.' Brittany begged, she knew she had screwed up, but Quinn couldn't do this. She needed her.

'I have to. I need to do this for me.' Quinn said softly her hands white knuckled. 'I have to go now. Please give me some space Britt. I'll call when I am ready.' She hung before Britt could say another word and sobbed.

Santana opened the door to her apartment sighing happily. She had had a pretty good day. Plus she had just been ut in charge of the next training mission. And boy were her colueges pissed off. 'Yea you know you can suck it cause I am not letting you sit on your fat arses any longer!' She muttered happily. 'Now to find my girls.' Santana stopped at the thought then shook her head. She knew she had to get that thought out of her mind fast. Quinn was her friend. Santana made herway to her bedroom then stopped. Quinn was curled up around baby girl seemingly fast asleep. Dre on the other hand was wide awake her little legs kicking up and arms waving around. Something is something wrong with this picture. She softly walked over to the two and sat down next to them her hand going to Dre's back. She could clearly see Quinn had been crying. 'Hey Quinn, it's me.' Santana gently shook Quinn's shoulder.

Quinn blinked her eyes open her head was pounding and her eyes hurt. Slowly it all came back to her and she just wanted to sleep some more. 'Don't wanne.'

'Hey come on I'll make you some coffee?' Santana said softly, not sure what she should do. Something was wrong.

'I just wanne sleep.' Quinn shook her head. She wasn't ready to face anyone just yet.

'Ok.' Santana lifted Dre into her arms it was about time for her to feed and her breasts were just about ready to explode. 'I'm going to feed her then clean her up and get her ready for bed. Take all the time you need.' Santana left the room. Hoping she was doing the right thing. It used to be a toss up with Quinn when they were kids. And she hoped this was the right one.

'I'll be out soon.' Quinn said just before Santana left the room seeing Santana nod just slightly. She was very grateful that Santana was not pushing. She had no idea what she was going to say to her about what happened. Now she had to also figure out where she was going to go. She had no place to stay really. Well not exactly true, but there were very few people that knew about her life and what was going on in it. Actually there was probably only three and one of them was the problem. Grow some balls and call. Quinn sat up straight and pulled out her phone. She was not going to procrastinate. She dailed the first number and groaned when it went straight to Voicemail. 'Here goes nothing.' She second number only rang once.

'Fabray you better have a damn good reason to call me after hours! I told you to take a few days off!'

Quinn winced, she always found it beyond weird to call her captain for a social call. But the matter of the fact was that Olivia Benson was married to one of her best friends from Yale. 'I'm sorry Liv, Alex wouldn't happen to be there? I need to talk to her if I can?'

Olivia frowned, she knew Quinn and there was something seriously wrong. Even she could tell that. 'Hold on I think she's in her office.'

Quinn could hear Olivia move around then a whispered conversation she could quite make out. Then the was over. Well here goes.

'Quinn I should skin your ass! I haven't seen you in weeks.'

'I know, and I am sorry. You would not believe how crazy things suddenly became.' Quinn apologized. Alex had been the best friend one could ask for. And truth be told they could just as well be family. And she was quite used to getting these speeches from Alex.

Alex grumbled but let it go she knew how cops could get. And Quinn was no different, even if she was an academic first. 'Yea Liv told me some. Now why do you sound like death warmed over and calling me?' The implication was left unsaid. Why not Britt.

'It's a long story and I promise I will tell you,but for now I just need to know if your offer is still open?' Quinn asked quick, she didn't want to give herself time to chicken out. If she did she would end up going back and she knew that that was just not an option.

Alex blinked, well now she knew the shit must have really hit the fan. 'Which offer Quinn?'

Quinn groaned she should have known that Alex would make her say it. She never got away with anything. 'All I need a place to sleep a few nights until I find my own place. Please?'

'Holy shit I never thought I would see the day. You have better have a fucking good explanation. I'll get the room ready.' Alex said without any more question. She knew that Quinn would talk to her. Eventually.

'Thanks All, I'll be a little while still. You will not believe what has been happening the last few weeks.' Quinn sighed in relief. Alex always had her back and that was worth so much to her.

'Yea yea, your payback will be having to live with you boss.' Alex chuckled at Quinn's groan. It sure would be interesting to watch them. 'Should I count with you for dinner?'

'I dunno. I'll send you a text in a few minutes to let you know.' Quinn got up, now she had to go and explain this as good as she could to Santana. And she was not looking forward to it. 'I'll see you soon.'

'You too.' Alex hung up and shook her head. She was worried. Quinn leaving Brittany on her own without warning was not a good sign. And she couldn't help but wonder what the hell had happened.

Quinn quickly found Santana in the bathroom trying to bathe Dre. Who in turn seemed intent on bathing Santana. 'Seems someone doesn't like bathing, huh?'

'I always think she just gets a real kick out of getting me all wet.' Santana muttered between laughs. She could never stay angry at Dre. She didn't think she ever would. 'Right baby girl you just love making a monkey out of your mami!'

Quinn laughed lightly Santana was pulling the cutest faces and Dre who was also giggling and gurgling happily while splashing around wildly. 'I think you might be right.'

'I know I am.' Santana laughed finally picking a wriggling Dre out of the water and onto the waiting towel. She gently rubbed Dre off giving her belly butterfly kisses. 'Mhhh you smell so nice baby. Now lets keep it that way, key?'

'Oh I bet she'll listen to that.' Quinn snorted handing Santana Dre's onsie.

'Well hope does spring eternal.' Santana shrugged as she wrestled Dre into her clothes then picked her up. 'You feeling better?'

'A little, thank you.' Quinn stroked Dre's head softly. 'Are you completely worn out or do you want to have dinner?'

Santana chuckled as she led them to the kitchen. 'I was going to ask you the same thing. I'm cooking, so don't worry we'll be fine.'

'Hey!' Quinn squawked indignantly, but laughed none the less. 'I am not terrible any more at least.'

'Mhh I'll be the judge of that.' Santana looked at Quinn then at Dre's baby chair then promptly handed Dre to Quinn. She figured cuddles with Dre would put Quinn a little more at ease. She was clearly still very worked up about whatever it was that had her crying earlier. 'Now you do like hot and spicy, right?'

'Bring it.'

Santana started pulling things out of the fridge. 'You want to talk about it?'

'Want to? No, but I guess I should. Since it does somewhat concern you.' Quinn shifted trying to figure out how to broach the subject. Honesty, you promised each other you would be honest. And Kerry did have a point. Gods this is going to suck.

'Me? How could this possibly concern me?' Santana's hands stilled from her cutting as she turned to watch Quinn.

Quinn grimaced, now there was a question. 'Oh nothing and everything.' She stopped to take a breath trying to figure out how to go about telling Santana all.

Santana went back to chopping, she was curious, but she knew that pushing would be wrong. 'You don't have to tell me Quinn. I'm sure whatever it is will keep.'

'Probably, but I want to.' Quinn cleared her throat, she was rather perplexed that she really meant that. It's so easy with her. Why? 'Have you ever been so in love with a girl that you do something utterly stupid and reckless to yourself?'

Hands stilled again as Santana cocked her head. 'Oh more times than I like to admit Quinn. It's a woman's prerogative.'

'Mhhh maybe, but at some point you have to see that you are just setting yourself up for heartbreak.' Quinn sighed and rubbed her forehead. 'God this is such a mess. And I don't know how to fix it.'

'Well sometimes the best way to fix things is to just get it out.' Santana offered because really what else could she do?

Quinn bit her lip, it would mean full disclosure. Am I really ready for that? But then again I want to get it out because I feel so guilty about not saying anything. 'I told about how things went to shit in my senior year. Well not everything was bad. Some good came from them.'

Santana's eyes popped open as she suddenly got it. 'Britt can be a beautiful force of nature when she wants something.'

'How...'

'Oh please Quinn, I might not be the detective, but you were not exactly very good at hiding it. I got clues they just didn't make sense until just then.' Santana laughed at Quin's guilty face. 'Quinn it's ok. I loved her once, and she'll always have a special place in my heart, but I realized a long time ago that we were never going to last. And I have moved on from there. I don't begrudge you falling for her it's very easy. She's lovable.' She used to be at least.

'I'm sorry, I just didn't know how to tell you.' Quinn mumbled softly as she played with her fingers.

Santana shrugged. 'You are telling me now. Like I said Quinn ten years is a long time, and there are a lot of things that we have to talk about to really have chance. So just know I'm not angry, and I won't hold you loving Britt against you, key?'

'Ok.' Quinn nodded.

Laughing Santana shook her head. 'I doubt that is where that story ends, so just keep going.'

Quinn nodded. 'You know you keep surprising the hell out of me. We dated for four years, and it was just...easy and great. I had never had such an easy relationship.'

'But?' Santana prompted when Quinn staled. Sometimes it seemed like Quinn still lived in her head. That had not changed.'

'But she couldn't handle me becoming a cop. She broke it off and left for L.A. Telling me she was just not ready to settle down.' Quinn took a deep breath to try and sooth the hurt that still caused her. 'We kept in touch you know, I was just still in love with her. But I tell you when she came back a year and a half after with a wife and plans to settle down it very nearly broke me. But she wanted to be friends and I can never say no to her. So I did and slowly started to move on. I even thought I found something. But it turned out that she was using me. Not long after my very bad break up Britt's wife died suddenly.' Quinn rubbed her hands together again. 'Stupidly, really stupidly I agreed to move in with Britt after. I thought that maybe...'

Santana felt for Quinn she really did, she knew how it felt to be in love with someone that did not love you back. 'You thought maybe with just a little time she could maybe love you again.'

'Something like that yes. Stupid like I said. And deep down you know I knew, I knew she was using me. And I let her. I mean I think for the most part she didn't even know she was. But I was a way for her to ignore her mourning her wife.'

Santana nodded again as she stirred the sauce for the Pasta she had planned. 'What happened to get you this upset though?'

Quinn closed her eyes then opened them slowly. 'She used me knowing she was doing it then the next morning just...left. I feel so stupid and I feel...I feel cheap.'

Santana turned the food off then moved to Quinn hesitantly pulling her in for a hug. 'God Quinn that is one thing you will never be. I'm sorry she made you feel that way. I guess ten years does really change people. Do you need somewhere to stay for a while?'

Quinn squeezed Santana, this was not what she had expected to her telling Santana that she had very recently slept with Brittany. 'I actually have somewhere. And Britt won't bother me there. She and Alex do not get along. She knows I'll talk to All also knows All will skin her alive if she gets her hands on her.'

Santana nodded. 'Good because I don't think my couch would have been all that comfortable. And maybe time away will do you both good.'

'I should have never let her talk me into moving in with her to begin with. But hindsight and all that.' Quinn sighed again. 'Now I get to bunk with my boss.'

'What?'

Quin snorted a little. 'Well Alex's wife happens to be Captain Olivia Benson my boss. So yea that's going to be awesome. I haven't had to deal with room-mates since college.'

Santana really did try not to laugh, but seriously it was funny. 'Well then I guess you're overdue.'

'I hate you.' Quinn muttered as she sat down and decided that playing with Alejandra was a better use of her time.

'You really don't.' Santana said as she watched Quinn play with Alejandra. It was really sweet.
