"Ha ha ha of course, as expected, you never fail me."

"Soon, they'll be biting the dust and left out on the streets when we claim what is rightfully ours and avenge your father."

Chapter 13~ Eternal Legacy

Lucy's POV

That night, we both return to our rooms and dare not utter a single word after the events of yesterday. The gloomy silence feels like forever, a never-ending spiral of sadness because this will be the last night we call ourselves husband and wife.

The Next Morning

The morning light filters in the room with the curtains billowing ever so slightly. Today is when we part before death.

Our wedding vows mean almost nothing now.

The documents were delivered to our mailbox as promised by Mr. Dreyar the other day. I open the package to reveal our letter of separation.

Natsu's POV

I wake up to the sound of the birds chirping outside but for some reason, they're chirping sounds monotonously glum. I try my best to lift my heavy eyelids and rub my eyes, trying to keep awake.

"Anyways, I want you to divorce Lucy."

It's for the best I guess.

If we were separated, no harm will come to Lucy or her family and I can finally be liberated from marriage and be the blithe and carefree person I once was.

I would finally be able to break free from the chains that bind me to this life. However, was this marriage really a total hoax? Did I really not develop anything for Lucy these past 7 months?

The answer to that question is unknown to me for some reason.

Lucy's voice echoes into my room from the living room.

Hmph, I guess she's up and early today.

"Natsu, could you please come here for a moment?"

What could she possibly want at this hour?

"Coming!" I gave a quick reply.

I dragged myself to the living room, my hair still in a mess and wearing pajamas.

I was quite taken aback when I saw Lucy, her hair was a tad messy, dark circles envelope her eyes and the blotchy skin tone from lack of sleep shows that she didn't get a bit of sleep last night.

"Could you please sign here?" She stared at me with her bloodshot eyes that showed no emotion.

"What's this?"

I took a long hard look at the document Lucy handed over to me. I couldn't believe my eyes.

"L-lucy, you want us to separate?"

"It's for the best Natsu, I think both you and I have had enough playing this little charade."

I signed the papers as nonchalantly as I could because we were not meant to truly love each other right? We never did from the start and we never will.

The sound of the pen ink smudging on the paper feels like forever as I watch my beloved sign the document that will officially separate us both.

It is finally done and I am liberated from a married life.

Seeing Lucy pack her bags and leave our home is a new thing for me but it might be a relief to me after all that's happened because of our marriage.

I plop myself down on the couch and relax all my muscles in an attempt to chill myself from all the recent conflict and tension between Lisanna and I.

I finally thought that I would not be bothered by Lisanna anymore, until…

"Knock, knock"

Who could that be?

I open the door to reveal the deliveryman who hands over an enveloped with big red letters stamped on it that reads: URGENT.

I tear the envelope hastily, wanting to know the contents of this "so called" urgent letter.

"Eviction Notice"

TO: Mr. Natsu Dragneel

AND ALL OTHERS OCCUPYING THE PROPERTY AT:

111 Strawberry Street

Magnolia, Fiore

You are hereby notified that your tenancy of the premises is terminated on 30/08/2014 and on that day you will be required to surrender possession of the premises to the Landlord.

I have chosen to terminate your tenancy for the following reason:

You have violated Section 1 of your rental agreement. This provision specifies

that the rental property is not to be mortgaged for debt payments.

Judicial proceedings may be instituted for your eviction if you do not correct the violation listed above or surrender possession of these premises on or before the date set forth above.

What the hell.

Am I getting kicked out of my own house? What debt payments? I don't remember making any debts that were a big enough amount that my house had to be mortgaged.

What is the meaning of this?

Wait, the date of eviction says that I have to get out of my house by… TODAY!

"Knock, knock"

What is it now, what could possibly make my day worse?

"I presume that you have read our terms and conditions and are aware that you are being evicted of your home as of today. We would like you to leave as it is no longer your property. We will deliver your belongings to your postal box."

Soon, two men in black suits shove me out of my own home.

The shame and humiliation I feel right now is uncontainable and is unbearable to watch. I've never felt so lost and poor in my life.

I walk down the streets of Magnolia still trying to comprehend what just happened a while ago.

Feeling homeless, rejected and alone I continue to wander the streets of Magnolia trying to seek for accommodation for the night.

I arrive at a 5-star luxurious hotel that I am familiar with and frequently stay in to ensure that I get a room, at least for tonight.

"Welcome to The Majestic Magnolia, how may I help you sir?"

"Actually, I would like to speak to the manager, I am a platinum member of this hotel."

"Oh, I will call the manager for you right away sir."

The manager arrived moments later with an unhappy look. He's glaring at me like I'm some kind of animal. Is he unhappy to see me here?

"How can I help you Mr. Dragneel?" He asks in his usual pleasant bedside manner.

"I would like a deluxe suite please."

I hand over my credit card as he inserts it to his machine. He takes out a pair of scissors and starts chopping my card to bits and pieces of plastic. I catch the shreds of plastic that was once my credit card and scold the manager.

"What is the meaning of this?" I ask in an intimidating tone.

"I'm sorry sir, but this card is no longer valid and has been terminated."

Wow. What a great way to ruin my day even more.

I stomp out of the hotel, furious. I didn't understand all of this.

"Ring!"

The ringtone of my cellphone plays and the caller ID is my mother.

Oh great.

"Hello mother?"

"Natsu! What is the meaning of this? Your father and I are being evicted out of our homes! Why did you mortgage the property! If you needed money to pay a debt you could have just took out a loan from the bank instead of mortgaging my house! I don't care what you do but fix this Natsu!"

Mother hanged up without listening to what I had to say.

I looked up at the sullen sky when droplets of water start to shower the city with a light drizzle that evolved to a pouring rain.

Is this my punishment? Is this how I will atone?

"Lisanna! I know you're behind all of this! Open the door!"

"Yes Natsu?"

"What did you do to my house and my money!?"

"What money Natsu? There is no money."

"What do you mean by that?"

"You lost the lawsuit remember?" Lisanna handed me a document.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Lucy filed a lawsuit against me for alienation of affection.

Alienation of Affection is the term used to when you want to sue your husband for cheating on you.
