It's a bright, and sunny day; the waves are crashing, the seagulls are stealing food and the crew is acting like a bunch of jerks. You're hot on the avatar's trail...no really this time you are actually really close to finding Aang and his friends. The helmsman is doing a good job following Aang's bison.

You're standing on the deck bored as ever. Zuko is ignoring you, like he usually does whenever he's close to catching the avatar.

You sighed. 'This is going to be a long day' you thought tiredly. You looked at zuko; he was trying to find the avatar's bison in the eye of his looking glass.

Iroh noticed where your gaze landed and walked over to you. "It's a beautiful day" Iroh commented, you nodded in agreement. " Is there something bothering you" Iroh asked in his old wise man way.

"I'm fine Iroh" you said.

Iroh saw through your statement and without asking anymore questions he knew what was wrong. "He doesn't mean to ignore you, Prince Zuko is just a little distracted" Iroh said.

You sighed "I know, I'm lucky Zuko even let me come, his goal is to capture not spend time with me" you said with a bitter tone.

"You're Prince Zuko's second priority, the avatar is his first priority" Iroh said as if that was suppose to make you feel better, you frowned. "That didn't come out right did it" Iroh questioned already knowing the answer.

You sighed and looked at Zuko for a second, he was looking past you. You turned and looked out into the ocean, there was a lot of fire nation ships. 'This must be fire nation waters' you thought.

"Sailing into fire nation waters... of all the foolish things you've done in your 16 years, Prince Zuko, this is the most foolish" Iroh said as he walked over to zuko.

"Actually this morning when Zuko tripped over his armor that he left on the floor last night, that was the most foolish but this is a close second." you said quietly as you giggled, Zuko gave you a weary look then turned his attention back to Iroh.

"I have no choice Uncle" Zuko said coldly.

"Have you completely forgotten that the fire lord banished you! What if you're caught" Iroh said raising his voice not in anger, but in worry.

"I'm chasing the avatar, my father will understand why I'm returning home" Zuko announced.

"You give my brother too much credit, my brother is not the understanding type" Iroh replied

Zuko ignored Iroh and told the helmsmen to keep going into fire nation waters. Zuko watched the avatar's bison through his looking glass

You looked out into the water. The fire nation ships were lining up

"Its a blockade!" Iroh yelled with alarm.

"Run the blockade" Zuko yelled over the noise and slight chaos on deck.

'Zuko i thought you were smarter than this' you thought worried because at this point it looks like Zuko's ship is going to crash into the larger and more advanced fire navy ships. The ships began to close in on Zuko's.

"Prince zuko! We're not going to make it!" Iroh yelled.

"We'll make it" Zuko said confidently "we have to" he mumbled.

"I hope so," you whispered.

Even though you were only standing a few feet away from Zuko, he noticed you for the first time all day. His eyes soften when he saw your worried expression. "Kana..." Zuko trailed off in an ashamed tone, he didn't need to finished, you knew he felt bad, he didn't care that his life was in danger by coming to the fire nation, but he did care that your life is in danger and that you were a little scared.

"Its ok" you said quietly, then you turned to look back out into the ocean.

Just as the ship was about to collide with the fire navy ships, the fleet suddenly stopped. You and Zuko looked over to the closest fire navy ship and their Zhao stood with a glare for Zuko.

'Why would Zhao let zuko into the fire nation' you wondered.

Zuko was thinking the same thing only he voiced it, rather loudly "Uncle why would Zhao let us through?" Zuko yelled in confusion.

"This is very strange" Iroh added.

Then it hit you "Zuko!" you said urgently, to get his attention he looked at you. "I think he wants to follow you, he knows you're chasing the avatar" you told him.

Zuko realized that you're right. Within 10 minutes Zuko and the crew finished loading a small boat that Zuko was supposed to take by himself to follow the avatar while the ship went the opposite way. When Zuko was about to leave, you jumped onto the small boat.

"Kana what are you doing?" Zuko asked in confusion.

"I'm going with you silly," you replied simply.

"No, its to dangerous" Zuko said.

"I didn't listen to you the last time you said it was to dangerous, do you really think I'll listen this time?" you asked playfully. Zuko sighed in defeat, you giggled.

The small boat followed avatar, Zhao was no where in sight. You and Zuko are alone, you looked out into the ocean.

Suddenly zuko broke the silence. "Why do you always look out into the ocean" he asked.

"I'm not sure, it seems comforting somehow" you said.

"Comforting?" Zuko questioned.

"Sort of I don't really know, maybe I'm searching for something or dreaming" you said.

Zuko nodded as he sat next to you. "I always thought it was because of the men on the ship, but your still doing it, so maybe you just don't want to see me" Zuko said jokingly but somehow he sounded serious.

You sat on your knees and turned so you were facing Zuko, but he turned away from you. You sighed and put your hand on his shoulder. "Zuko, what is it?" you asked in a soothing voice.

Zuko turned so he was facing you. "My face" he said simply.

You frowned, Zuko looked into your eyes. You brought your hand up to his face and lightly traced Zuko's scar, he closed his eyes and absently leaned towards you.

"I like your scar" you said softly, "it makes you different"

Zuko's eyes snapped open, he looked confused.

"It's what made me interested in you, it's the first thing I noticed" you said 'you know besides the fact that you were creeping on me' you thought.

Zuko pulled away a little and you put your hands in your lap.

"Its the first thing everyone notices" Zuko said angrily. "Everyone wants to know how it happened, it's just a reminder of how weak and pathetic I am," he continued.

"I don't think you're weak or pathetic," you whispered. Zuko looked at you. You smiled at him then continued. "You're the strongest person i know, it takes a lot to go out on your own a do what you do. I'm here willingly and I'm already homesick, though I am glad that I'm here with you" you finished.

Zuko smiled slightly but it went back to a frown. "I still don't see how anyone can like this scar" zuko said.

"You don't have to" you said then you leaned in and kissed his scar. Zuko seemed surprised at first, you giggled and tried to stand up but Zuko caught you around your waist.

"Why do you always try to run away after you kiss me?" Zuko asked with a smirk as he gently pulled you onto his lap.

"What makes you think I'll kiss you again?" you asked playfully

"I don't think you'll kiss me," he said bluntly. "I hope you'll kiss my lips so I'll have a chance to actually kiss you back" Zuko said. You giggled, Zuko closed his eyes as he leaned in, and you closed your eyes as you leaned in. your lips met in a soft kiss. Zuko wrapped his arms around your waist pulling you closer; you wrapped your arms around his neck. This kiss was different from all the other ones you've shared. Zuko ran his tongue over your bottom lip, you opened your mouth just enough so he could explore every part of your mouth. The not so innocent kiss soon ended but Zuko still held you in his arms.

"Are you going to run from me again" Zuko asked.

You smiled softly. "No, its more fun when I stay"

Zuko laughed. "Kana will you be my girlfriend" he asked suddenly. You smiled brightly and nodded a yes. You cuddled close to Zuko.

You suddenly remembered why you were alone with zuko. The avatar has just landed on Crescent Island, you and Zuko prepared to stop the boat.
