Zuko has been acting weird all day, this morning he received news that the avatar has been spotted in the woods near a fire nation base, running around looking for some type of cure. Zuko has been so nervous and jumpy that some other fire bender is going to catch the avatar that he's making you jumpy and nervous.

"Okies it time for you to relax" you said as you forced Zuko to sit down.

Zuko attempted to stand up; he obviously wanted to continue to pace around the control room. You held him firmly in the seat because you knew he would fight you.

"Zuko relax. You're making me nervous" you explained.

"I know, you're right, I'll relax," Zuko said as he calmed down a little. Iroh walked in with vanilla chai tea, your favorite, in hopes that Zuko will calm down. The tea helped relax poor zuko.

Everything was starting to get back to usual when a dumb infantryman decided that now would be good time to deliver news. "Sir the avatar has been captured by commander Zhao"

"What!" Zuko yelled as he stood up spilling the tea all over the floor

"I would have drunk that" Iroh commented frowning at the tea.

"Why is Zhao even here!" Zuko yelled angrily.

"Since when is he a commander" you questioned in disgust.

The infantrymen just shrugged and left the room. Steam literally came out of Zuko's ears and nose. It hurt you to see him like this, especially after all the stress he's been dealing with. This just made everything worse. You wrapped your arms around Zuko and kissed his cheek in an attempt to calm him. Zuko stayed tense for a moment but then he suddenly smirked, you knew he was planning something, your curiosity peaked, you would find out one-way or another.

The rest of the day Zuko was fairly calm. The ship docked around noon. The day went fairly fast you practiced your bending as Zuko sparred with a few crewmembers. You had dinner with Zuko and Iroh as usual. At night you and Zuko practiced with the dual swords and kissed in the moonlight. It wasn't until Iroh and the crew was asleep that Zuko started acting weird. For instance he couldn't wait till you went to sleep, he kept asking if you were tired, had you drink sleepy time tea in an attempt to make you sleep. You knew he was up to something so you did what he obviously wanted and went to sleep, or so it seemed.

You pretended to go to sleep. It was sneaky and underhanded but hey you're a little sister, you had to spy on Daisuke and Kaito when they snuck out. Trailing Zuko should be easier.

From the bed you watched Zuko walk into the bathroom and when he came out he wore all black. To be honest he looked like a ninja. Zuko glanced at you and smiled softly, you hoped he couldn't tell that you were awake. Then took his dual swords off the wall and looked through a draw till he took out a traditional fire nation mask, that he put on while he swiftly left the room.

'What is he up to?' you thought curiously.

After about a minute you got up quickly and changed out of your bright red outfit and into a black skirt and black halter top. You grabbed your dual swords, ran out of the room and through the ship careful not to wake anyone.

You spotted Zuko running into the woods. You swiftly followed him. 'Zuko must being going to the fire nation base to release the avatar' you smiled at how insanely stupid and reckless Zuko can be sometimes, well at least he's passionate about what he does.

You followed Zuko all the way to the fire nation base. He snuck through all the security oblivious to how closely you were following him. He never realized that you were there.

Zuko set the avatar free and the two worked together to escape. All the fire nation soldiers were so focused on Aang and Zuko that they didn't notice you sneaking out of the base so it was easy for you to escape.

Once out of the base you hid in the woods keeping an eye on Zuko and Aang the whole time.

'No!' you practically screamed in your head as you watched Zuko get hit in the head with an arrow. It didn't penetrate his skin but it did knock him out and knock the mask off his face.

You were about to show yourself to save Zuko when Aang picked Zuko up and escaped into the woods. You followed staying hidden.

As the sun began to rise, Aang started talking. "You know I used to have a friend that lived in the fire nation. He was a firebender just like you. We used to hangout all the time" Aang stated sadly. He looked at Zuko who was still knocked out, the mask lying beside him. "Do you think that if we lived back then, before the war, do you think that we could have been friends?" Aang asked.

Almost instantly Zuko woke up and shot fire at Aang.

You sighed, 'he's so ungrateful sometimes'. You rolled your eyes.

Aang ran away, Zuko didn't bother to pursue him, instead he began walking back to the ship. Aang didn't get very far because he crashed right into you, knocked both of you over.

"I'm sorry I didn't see you the..." Aang froze when he saw that it was you.

"Relax I wont hurt you," you said tiredly.

"You're that girl who travels with Zuko" Aang stated.

"I'm kana," you said as you walked into the clearing that Aang and zuko were just in. You picked up Zuko's forgotten mask.

"So why do you travel with Zuko?" Aang asked curiously, seeming to feel comfortable around you.

"He's helping me find my brothers, Kaito and Daisuke. I also happen to be dating prince whines-a-lot" you said was an amused grin. "Zuko really isn't a bad guy, he's just a bit lost" you said with a laugh as you turned back to face Aang.

"You're not like all the other firebenders I've met" Aang admitted innocently.

"I don't believe in this war or the fire lord's intentions. I was raised on an island where people from all the nations live together in peace." you paused. "My parents and brothers are earth and waterbenders." you added after a moment.

"You remind me of some friends I used to have" Aang said with a smile, you couldn't help but smile back.

"It was nice talking to you but I have to make it back to the ship before Zuko does. He doesn't know I followed him" you waved with a smile then ran off.

You beat Zuko back to the ship by a couple hundred feet. It's already late morning and so far Zuko hasn't seen you. Once you made it onto the ship, you almost ran into Iroh. "If anyone asks I never left Zuko's room and I'm still asleep!" you yelled as you ran past the confused old man "thanks Iroh you're the best!".

"You're welcome" Iroh called. "What did I do?" he asked himself.

You ran down to Zuko's room. Above you could have sworn you heard Zuko say, "no disturbances, I'm going to bed"

When you finally got into Zuko's room you put your dual swords away and sat on Zuko's bed just as he opened the door.

Zuko seemed startled to see you there especially because you were holding his mask. "How did you...?" he trailed off.

"I followed you, and I'm so proud about how you handled that, I just wish you would have seen the look on commander monkey's face." you said with a laugh.

Zuko relaxed as he sat next to you wrapping his arms around you and burying his face in your neck. He looked up suddenly and asked, "how did you beat me back here?"

"I'm faster than you, remember silly?" you giggled. Zuko smiled and kissed you, pulling you under the covers with him. After a bit of cuddling, the two of you settled in for a well-deserved sleep.
