After traveling for a few days you and Zuko ran out of food mostly because Zuko stole an ostrich horse and it ate most of the food. So you stopped in the nearest town. It was a very small town, and a bit run down but its better than some of the other places you've been to.

"Lets try that shop," you suggested as you pointed to a small shop with a kind-looking shopkeeper. Zuko nodded and the two of you walked over.

"How can I help you?" the shopkeeper asked.

"How much food can we get with this" Zuko asked as he held out the money.

"Not much I'm afraid" the shopkeeper replied. You frowned

"Are you two kids on your own?" he asked. You nodded "well I'll tell you what, I'll give you 12lbs of meat and 5lbs of vegetable at half price."

You smiled brightly "thank you so much! That's very kind of you"

As the shopkeeper prepared your food you noticed that a little kid through an egg at some thugs. Suddenly you heard a man yell at Zuko "Hey! Did you throw that egg!"

"No" Zuko replied in a tired voice.

"That egg had to have come from somewhere" he accused Zuko

"Maybe a chicken flew over" Zuko replied, sometimes his comebacks were so lame you couldn't help but giggle.

The man went to hit Zuko but you grabbed the man's wrist. "I wouldn't do that," you stated bluntly

"Oh really and what are you gonna do about it girly" the man asked in a condescending way.

You used the man's heavy weight against him and flipped him over by bending his arm awkwardly behind his back.

"This is why I stay on your good side" Zuko said nearly laughing. You smiled at Zuko and released the man and he and his thug friends ran off.

The kid that through the egg approached you and Zuko. "Thanks for covering for me" the boy said as the shopkeeper brought over your food. "And your girlfriend is very pretty" he said "I'm lee by the way" he added. Before you could say anything the boy continued "Wanna come to my house? We can feed your ostrich horse"

"No thanks" Zuko said but lee grabbed the ostrich horse and started walking to his house.

"Looks like we're going with the kid" you said with a confused shrug.

Zuko sighed and the two of you followed Lee. As you approached a house all the animals started to make loud noises Lee turned back to you and Zuko "at least no one could ever sneak up on us" Lee said brightly.

Every time Lee spoke he seemed to be talking to Zuko, you concluded that zuko must remind him of someone Lee looks up to. You thought it was adorable but Zuko just seemed annoyed. Lee walked into the house.

"Why are we here?" Zuko asked you as soon as Lee was inside.

"I don't really know but I think the kid really likes you" you said giggling.

"Oh great" Zuko mumbled.

Lee came back out followed by a middle-aged couple you assumed were his parents

"Hi we're Lee's parents, he told us what you did for him and we just wanted to say thank you" the man said

"It was no trouble at all" Zuko replied.

"Actually it was, no one ever stands up to those thugs" the women chimed in.

"They think they can do anything they want" Lee added.

You nodded thoughtfully "who are they anyway?"

"They call themselves earth kingdom soldiers, but all the real soldiers like Lee's older brother went off to fight in the war" the father said.

"Would you like to stay for dinner?" the mother asked out of the blue.

"We should be going" Zuko replied.

"Nonsense, it would be rude if you didn't, beside Lee seems to really like you" the mom said. Well Lee definitely got his pushiness from his mother.

"And oh how rude of me I don't even know your names" she added.

"I'm kana" you said, Kana is a fairly common name all over the world. Zuko didn't want to answer, which is good because Zuko is obviously a fire nation name.

"The boy doesn't have to tell us if he doesn't want to" Lee's dad added. Zuko looked relieved.

The mom turned to you "well you can help me make dinner and" she turned to Zuko "you can help Lee's dad with the roof" she suggested.

"Sure" you replied. You didn't mind helping out. Zuko snickered a bit, so you gave him a look.

"What? You're actually going to help cook, it's cute, you aren't the type to cook or clean" zuko said.

"And that's why you cook most of our food" you said as you stuck your tongue out at him and followed Lee's mom into the house.

"So are you a traveler?" she asked.

"Yeah we've been traveling for a few months now"

"Is he your boyfriend?" she asked she wasn't accusing or anything just curious.

"Yes, we've been together for a while now, he's a bit shy so he doesn't like telling people his name" you explained a bit nervously.

"You two make a very lovely couple"

"Thank you"

You helped cook as the two of you had a pleasant conversation. You asked her if she has seen your brothers but she said that she hasn't and that she hopes that you find them.

(Zuko)

You were helping Lee's dad fix the roof. To be honest you really didn't mind doing hard work it made you feel accomplished. But Lee kept asking you questions which annoyed you.

"Where are you from"

"Far away"

"How far"

"Very far"

"what's your name"

You were about to say that your name doesn't matter, but lee's dad saved you the trouble. "Lee stop asking questions, its rude" the dad scolded.

Lee nodded, but moments later he asked the worst question of all "how did you get that scar?"

As a reflex you frowned feeling the shame the scar brought to your face and life.

"Lee!" The father yelled, then he turned to you "I'm so sorry about Lee you see since his older brother went off to war, he's been a bit out of control" he explained.

"Its fine" you replied even though you still felt the sadness. You were relieved when you spotted kana, she was standing on the ladder.

"Hey guys dinner is all ready," she said brightly. Then she climbed down the ladder followed by Lee, his father, then you reached the ground Kana was waiting for you, without a word she hugged you tightly, burying her face in your shoulder, you wrapped your arms around her tiny frame. Kana pulled away slightly to kiss your scar right next your eye. As she kissed you, you felt all of you pain and sadness melt away; all that was left was love for Kana.

"You always know what I need" you mumbled into her hair.

"You make it so obvious to me" she said with a cute giggle. "I love you Zuko"

"I love you to Kana" you whispered. She smiled brightly and the two of you walked into the house for dinner.
