After a few days you finally made it to the boat that would take you to the outer wall of Ba-Sing-Se. The three of you walked up to a desk with a women yelling about traveling papers. Zuko kept his arm firmly around your waist because a lot of guys were looking at you and it was really starting to freak you out. Zuko just seemed really angry.

"Zuko you know I love you" you whispered softly.

"I know, I just don't like the way those guys look at you..." he trailed off. You gave him a curious look and he continued. "Only I should be allowed to look at you like that." he said slightly embarrassed. You giggled and sweetly kissed him on the cheek.

Iroh started to flirt with the women at the desk so that she would let you on the boat. You and Zuko turned to each other with horrified expressions. Iroh walked away victoriously with three sets of traveling papers, as you and Zuko followed in horror.

"Well I'm scarred for life" you commented.

"That was repulsive" Zuko agreed.

The two of you followed Iroh, Zuko kept his arm around your waist until you boarded the ship. Iroh settled on the floor while you and Zuko stood leaning on the railing.

You looked out into the water. "What do you think Ba-Sing-Se will be like?" you mused.

"It's probably like any other big city" Zuko replied.

You nodded as Zuko slipped his arm around you, you leaned into his him as he pulled you closer.

The peaceful moment was ruined by a unfamiliar voice. "You look like you don't belong here" you and Zuko had a mini heart attack, you exchanged panicked glances then turned to see who spoke thinking that you've been discovered.

"We're the same" the mysterious boy said "we've had rough lives, always someone trying to keep us down" he looked to be roughly your age.

You sighed and relaxed. 'Oh agni, I thought he figured out that we're fire nation.' you thought.

"What makes you say that?" Zuko asked curiously keeping his guard up.

"Your scar" the boy said. Zuko glared at him, of course he saw the scar, that all anyone ever sees, well except you, you see beyond the scar. The boy continued, "well I'm Jet. You two should join my freedom fighters" he offered.

"Not interested" you and Zuko said at the same time.

Jet looked thrown off but soon regained his confidence. "Look around don't you think it isn't fair that we get stuck eating moldy food while the captain eats like a king?"

You looked around, the food did look miserable.

"We can liberate some food" Jet suggested.

"I'm in" Zuko said a bit too quickly.

"So am I" you replied. You know stealing is wrong but you've lost weight recently and you're starving…

Jet smirked, and you and Zuko followed him to where the food was kept. The door was unlocked but there was guards watching it. Suddenly two figures walked up.

Jet smiled "these are my freedom fighters, Smellerbee" he gestured to the short one, " and long shot" the tall one.

"I'm Kana" you said, it was a fairly common name so you could still use it.

Zuko on the other hand had to think of a new name on the spot, Zuko was obviously a fire nation name. "I'm Lee," he said after a short pause. Jet gave him a strange look but brushed it off moments later.

"Alright, Kana and Lee, we need to distract those guards" Jet said. Everyone thought for a moment.

"We could make noise to draw them away" Zuko suggested.

"It could work but its a bit too risky" Jet replied.

"Kana could distract them" Smellerbee suggested.

"What?!" you said confused as your face turned a light shade of pink.

"The guards are dopey guys, they'll take one look at you and completely forget what they're doing" Smellerbee explained.

"I don't think it will work, I'm a bit socially awkward," you said.

"I'm not letting Kana be a distraction," Zuko stated.

"Well then what are we going to do?" Jet asked in frustration.

"Hey you kids! Get away from here!" one of the guards yelled, he was fairly young and very dopey looking. Everyone in your group began to walk away when you heard "hey girly, you with the red hair" the guard yelled.

You turned with a confused look. The guards started looking you up and down, which made you feel very uncomfortable. Zuko made a low growl in anger. Well Smellerbee's plan worked. Zuko was really pissed off as he helped the freedom fighters liberate some food while you had a very awkward conversation with guards that ended with them being called pedophiles and surprised that you're only 16. After the food was secured, Zuko rushed back to where you were. He wrapped his arms around you from behind and kissed your neck showing that you're with Zuko. You blushed a deep red as Zuko led you away from the guards, public displays of affection always make you blush especially because Zuko loves to show the world that he's lucky enough to have you.

"I feel like I need to bathe, just thinking about them looking at me makes me feel gross" you said with a shutter as you headed back to where Iroh and the freedom fighters were.

"I wont let them near you" Zuko said softly as he kissed your cheek.

You and Zuko sat in a circle with Iroh, Jet, Smellerbee and Longshot.

"So where do you two come from?" Jet asked.

You had no reason to lie " I'm from the Wa (Harmony) Island" you said.

"I've heard of that place," Smellerbee said "What made you leave?" she asked.

"My brothers Kaito and Daisuke were captured, I've been looking for them" you replied.

"Those fire nation scum! When will they stop, those bastards killed my parents" Jet said angrily. Longshot looked at Jet and he calmed down.

Iroh decided to change the topic. "So Smellerbee is an interesting name for a boy"

"Well maybe it's because I'm not a boy, I'm a girl" she abruptly got up and stormed away, Longshot went after her.

"Iroh!" you scolded.

"Smellerbee is such a lovely name for a girl!" Iroh called after her.

"Uncle you're making it worse" Zuko said with his face in his hands

"I'm going to go talk to Smellerbee" you said as you stood up, you lightly kissed Zuko on the lips then turned and went after Smellerbee. You waited until Longshot finished talking to her, then you walked up. "Hey why don't we have a little girl time?" you asked as Longshot walked away.

"I'm not very girly" Smellerbee replied.

"You don't have to be" you said with a smile. "I may look girly but I'm far from it"

"You could have fooled me" she didn't say it in a rude way.

You changed the topic "look Smellerbee, you seem really upset, is there anyway I could help?" you asked.

She thought for a moment "have you ever felt like you're invisible" she asked.

You sighed "I know that feeling all to well"

"Really?"

"Yeah, I never really had friends growing up, just my brothers, z...Lee is the first person to really pay attention to me, simply because I'm me."

"But you're so pretty" she blurted out "and I'm so guyish"

"Having guys look at you just because you're pretty sucks, id rather people look at me because they like me for me. Besides looks don't matter, what matters is your actions and as long as you stay true to yourself, no one can be more beautiful than you" you told her honestly.

She stayed silent for a minute, "Kana do you think I'll ever find someone?" she asked timidly.

You smiled " you're barely a teenager and thinking about guys" you said with a giggle "you'll find someone when the time is right, I mean I found Lee after I ran away from him twice and the only reason we formerly met was because I found him badly beaten in woods but that's beside the point" you said catching yourself before you started talking too much.

She smiled "when we get to Ba-Sing-Se, do you think you can help me be more girly?" she asked.

"Sure, but I don't think you need it considering the way Longshot looks at you" you said with a sly smile as you gestured to Longshot watching Smellerbee.

"I never thought about that before" you said smiling.

You giggled "come on let's get back"

(Zuko)

Jet approached you "Guys like us need to stick together, I think we could make a good team in Ba-Sing-Se" he said

"I'm not interested" you replied honestly.

"Why not?" he asked slightly angered. "We were great earlier"

"I just don't want to get into any trouble and I need to help Kana find her brothers"

"The freedom fighters can help you find her brothers"

"Jet you said we wouldn't be the freedom fighters anymore, you said we'd live normally" Smellerbee said as her and Kana returned.

"I know what I said but this is different" Jet yelled at her. Kana glared at him.

"We're not interested" you said again

"Lee let's go" Kana said, you could tell she felt uncomfortable. You nodded and left the motley group.

That night you and Kana were cuddling in a somewhat private area. "Kana" you said suddenly. She looked at you with questioning eyes, "I promise things will be better once we're in the city" you said.

Kana sighed "silly Zuko" she mumbled sleepily. "When will you realize that all it takes to make me is happy is you being close." she mumbled.

"Kana..I.." you trailed off, "I just hate forcing you to live like we've been"

"I don't mind as long as i have you," she said as she turned to look at you.

You smiled and hugged her close, Kana yawned as she returned the hug. " You should get some sleep" you told her.

"So should you" she replied with a sly smile. She shifted so she was leaning on you even more. You blushed having her so close; thankfully its dark and she can't see it. You sighed happily as you held Kana's small body close to you. "Sleep well" you whispered as Kana drifted off into a peaceful sleep. You soon fell asleep dreaming of Kana.

(Jet)

You thought that there was something strange about Lee so you followed him and Kana. You found them cuddling in a less populated area. They were obviously together which made you somewhat annoyed.

'Kana is really pretty, it weird she'd be with a guy like Lee' you thought.

You, being very full of yourself thought Kana would be better off with you.

You decided to keep an eye on them even though you knew Longshot and Smellerbee wouldn't approve.
