"So that's it?" Jet questioned.

"Yeah, its simple, easy and hard to screw up" you replied in a soft tone.

"And we get to beat up some fire nation scum" Jet whispered with excitement.

"Excuse you," you hissed. Convincing Jet that not everyone in the fire nation is evil is difficult. He often forgets that you are fire nation. To be honest you felt bad for most of the guards here, they aren't bad people, and this is their job. The warden however is evil and if he lays a finger on you again you're going to break it.

Two guards began to approach you, you had already been in the yard for an hour, and your free time was up.

"See you tomorrow" Jet whispered as he casually walked away. He was considered a non-lethal, low threat prisoner because he is a non-bender so he's free to walk around and only has to return to his cell at night. You envied his freedom but soon you'll be free too.

The two guards approached.

"Times up, back to your cell" one said.

"Don't make this difficult again," the other warned.

You glared at them to keep up your dangerous rouge persona. You had most of the guards fooled, how they haven't noticed that you haven't hurt anyone is beyond you.

The guards grabbed your wrists and led you back to your cell. Once inside they locked the door, it was complete darkness, no windows, just a small vent that didn't let any light in. You walked to the corner where you usually rested, the cold metal floor was unpleasant to lie on so you leaned on the wall with your knees pulled up to your chest and let out a sigh.

You began reflecting on your conversations with Jet; it has been a week and a half since the two of you started talking and you've already come up with an escape plan. It's simple; since Jet is a low threat prisoner he's practically free to walk around where ever he wants. Everyday at three o'clock two guards escort you to the warden's office. You always struggle and give the guards a hard time so it takes anywhere between twenty minutes to forty minutes for them to transport you. Tomorrow you won't be struggling. Theirs a small corridor about halfway from your cell to the warden's office and it happens to have an entrance the leads to yard. Jet will be there waiting for the guards to bring you through. At three thirty a group of guards will take the lift to leave for the day, you and jet will sneak on and escape. You will have ten minutes to get as far as possible before any alarms are raised.

(Zuko's Pov)

You have visited Daisuke and Kaito everyday for the last week and a half. Kaito refuses to talk to you, Daisuke just makes you feel horrible about yourself but you continue to visit them anyway. Even if your powerless to free them and save Kana you want to show them that you care about her and haven't forgotten.

Today you've requested and audience with your father. Unfortunately the only way you could get an audience with him was to have Azula ask for you and you hated doing that. You waited anxiously outside the throne room. A half hour late, your father finally called you inside.

You silently walked in, and kneeled before your father waiting for him to allow you to stand.

"Stand" he ordered "what do you want now?" he asked clearly and annoyed. He's always had a short temper around you.

You swallowed nervously gathering your thoughts.

"Prince Zuko if you're going to waste my time then leave" he snapped.

"I request that Kana's crimes are pardoned and her execution canceled, she is no threat to the fire nation," you boldly stated. You felt kind of proud that you actually stood up to him.

The Fire Lord laughed, you clenched your fists in anger. "Get out of sight, you're lucky I allowed you to return home, now you're requesting that a rogue firebender is released" he snapped.

You thought about saying something but decided against it, knowing it would only make things worse. As you were about to walk out of the room your father stopped you.

"And Prince Zuko" he paused so you looked at him, "That peasant never loved you, she was using you"

It took all of you mental strength to leave the room and not set everything on fire. Once you were outside and the doors closed you set most of the courtyard on fire out of anger. How dare he say Kana never loved you, she loved you with all her heart, you knew that, and you betrayed her. If she hates you now you wouldn't blame her, but you knew all the time you spent with her, it was real love.

You decided to go visit Uncle, he would know what to say and how to fix everything. Except that Uncle has refused to talk to you every time you've visited him. You needed to try anyway.

Sneaking past the guards easy, it helps that the guards are lazy and not very observant. You found your way to Uncle's cell, he was staring at you when you walked in.

(Iroh's Pov)

Zuko walked in, he was clearly upset. "Uncle, I need to talk to you," he said.

You just closed your eyes and looked away. It hurt that you have decided to ignore Zuko, he has become like a son to you in the years you spent at sea with him, but he needed to learn. He is no longer a child; you thought that he was improving especially after his experiences in Ba-Sing-Se and when he and Kana left you in the cave. This was not a mistake that could easily be fixed. It would take time.

"Uncle please, I know I messed up but I want to fix everything. I tried to convince my father to release kana and pardon her crimes, but just laughed at me, I don't know what to do, I don't know how to save her…." Zuko's panicked rant continued.

All you could think about was kana's safety: by asking for kana's release, Zuko has sealed her fate.

"You think too highly of my brother"

"Uncle this isn't about him"

"But it is, by asking for kana's freedom, my brother will use this to hurt you by executing her sooner." It was harsh but needed to be said. Poor kana, you hoped that she would figure out how to escape, but no one has ever escaped from the boiling rock.

Zuko's eyes widened "He wouldn't…" he trailed off, "but he would" he said softly as he fell to his knees and started to cry.

You looked at him emotionlessly even though all you wanted to do was hug him and assure him that everything would be all right. Zuko needed to learn.

"Uncle" Zuko said weakly as he wiped his face.

You stayed silent.

He continued "I will save kana" and with that he left.

(Kana's POV)

"Wake up girly"

That was probably the worst way to wake up. You squinted your eyes trying to see. The warden has opened the viewing window on the door. It was the middle of the night. You almost panicked thinking that he may have found out about your escape plans.

"I wanted to be the first tell you, the Fire Lord has decided to move up your execution, you have two days left"

'Well it's a good thing I'm escaping tomorrow' you thought. You gave the warden a blank stare.

"Prince Zuko begged for your freedom, foolish boy, only made your death come sooner," the warden continued.

Your eyes widened, it was the first sign of emotion you've showed to warden since you spat on his face upon your arrival. Zuko cares, he's an idiot and falls for everything his father says, but he still cares. Upon seeing your reaction the warden laughed as he closed the viewing window.

You pulled your knees up to your chest in the darkness. Part of you hated that you still love Zuko, but the other part of you tried to understand, he didn't know you would be captured, he argued for your freedom. You know that he has to be careful about what he says.

(Daisuke's Pov)

Kaito is asleep, for some reason you couldn't, you had a strange feeling, like something bad was happening. Your feeling was confirmed when you saw Prince Zuko walk out of the shadows.

"Isn't it past your curfew" you asked.

"This is serious"

your eyes widened, something is wrong.

Zuko continued "I'm an idiot.."

You cut him off "we already knew that"

That clearly made Zuko angry but he tried to control his temper. "I asked my father for Kana's freedom"

"And he rejected it" you cut him off again.

Zuko sighed sadly "He's ordered her execution to be two days from now"

You clenched your fists "and what are you going to do about it" you hissed. The fire nation can kill you, and kaito and everyone but no one hurts your little sister.

"Its suppose to be here, in the capital, while they're transporting her I can rescue her, I just need to figure out how to break you and kaito out before me and kana leave the fire nation, it will have to be the same night, so they won't have time to have more security on you." Zuko rambled his risky plan. You felt a little bit of sympathy for him. He really does love kana; he's just a confused idiot. You tried to understand what he's going through, I mean he's giving up the fire nation, betraying his family and risking his life to save kana and save you and kaito. Zuko isn't a bad guy.

"When are they transporting her?" you asked.

"Tomorrow night"

"Kaito and I will be ready"

Zuko smiled slightly "I will save kana" he said as if he was trying to convince himself "and I promised your parents the three of you would return home safely."

You nodded, Zuko took that as his cue to leave, but when he was almost out of sight you got his attention "You know for a while I really hated you, now I understand" Zuko gave you a confused look "You need to make choices, you can't have everything, what is it that you want the most" Zuko looked at you to continue but you just leaned against the cell's wall and turned away.
