(Zuko's POV)

You couldn't get Kana out of your head, not that it was any different from any other day that you're away from her, but now you're so confused. All you wanted to do was be with Kana… and kill Jet. How dare he be with Kana, after all she's yours. Except she isn't and it's your fault.

"I thought he was dead," you mumbled in annoyance. Jet's death was really unclear.

You've been avoiding everyone in the palace since yesterday. You couldn't handle all the talk about how your father wants Kana captured, dead or alive.

You flopped back onto your bed, 'why am I even here? I was happier with Kana' you thought miserably. 'I wonder if she'll ever forgive me,' not likely with how you couldn't even help her yesterday. You couldn't even figure out why you wanted to come home anymore, theirs nothing here for you. You closed your eyes but all you saw was Kana, staring at you.

"Girls are crazy," you mumbled running your fingers through your hair. You couldn't help but think 'when did my hair get this long?'

(Kana's POV)

You woke up earlier than everyone else, so you decided to dye your hair again. You mixed up the berry mixture and started to dye your hair as everyone else was waking up. Smellerbee and Longshot started to prepare a breakfast of berries and some stolen food.

"So, can we talk about how our little ginger is suddenly a brunette?" Kaito asked.

"I stand out too much with the red hair, besides its better to just blend in, especially now" you replied. Kaito seemed a bit let down by that answer, you had no idea what he was expecting.

"So what are we going to do now?" Smellerbee asked.

"We should go home," Daisuke said.

You frowned, "I wish we could but we have no transportation."

"We should join Aang, they are planning an invasion" Kaito added.

You, Jet, Smellerbee and Longshot looked at him waiting for an explanation. Kaito continued, "Yeah it's called the day of black sun, it's a solar eclipse, all the firebenders are suppose to lose their bending during it. While we were in Ba-Sing-Se, Sokka kept talking about it."

"When is it?" Jet asked with excitement, he really loved fighting, especially when he gets to fight firebenders.

"Its in a few weeks," Daisuke replied then turned to you "will you be ok?"

"I can hold my own," you said with a sly smile, "so it's settled, we'll just need to hide out until then, I assume they're attacking the capital?" You asked. Kaito nodded a yes.

The day was pretty uneventful because everyone agreed that you, Daisuke and Kaito should not go near any towns unless it's absolutely necessary. You decided to sunbathe because there really isn't anything else to do and Kaito and Daisuke went to find a place to bathe because they've been in prison for over a month and they smelled really nasty.

As you lay in the warm sun you got lost in thought. You replayed everything that's happened since you left home. You remembered how uncomfortable you were on the ship, the pirates, the southern water tribe and the little girl you saved, how stubborn Zuko is, Zuko's agni kai with Zhao, having tea with Iroh, how happy you were when you found Daisuke at the earthbender prison, your first kiss with Zuko, when Zuko told you about his scar, the storm, crescent island, the siege of the northern water tribe and the spirit oasis, Zuko being stupid and almost dying, Finding Kaito, starting over in the Earth Kingdom, leaving Iroh, traveling with Zuko, Iroh's tea Shop the Shaded Jade, living in Ba-Sing-Se, waking up next to Zuko, Zuko being happy. At times your felt uncomfortable but for the most part those months were the happiest you've ever been. You were finally on your own, away from everything you knew.

You suddenly realized that leaving your island was a good thing, if you didn't leave you never would have went on so many adventures, met amazing people. You never would have fell in love.

You closed your eyes and sighed. You couldn't help but miss Zuko, but waiting around for him to realize how wrong his father is and decide what he really wants is taking way too long. You thought about yesterday and how he looked at you. If he didn't yell your name when he did, you would have been captured or worse. 'He looked at me like he still loves me…' you thoughts drifted.

"Boys are crazy," you mumbled.

"Why are boys crazy?"

You jumped up and nearly had a heart attack, how long have they been there.

"Oh god" you said putting your hand over your heart. "Jet! You creep, how long have you been sitting there?" you asked in annoyance.

"A few minutes, you know you could have been captured, you're lucky it's just me," Jet said as he chewed on a piece of grass.

'And you're lucky I haven't punched you' you thought but said " Can we not sneak up on me, its been so long since I've relaxed"

Jet nodded, "I wasn't trying to sneak up on you, I just didn't want to disturb you"

You were about to say something when Kaito and Daisuke returned; Kaito was loudly complaining that a fish bit him in an unpleasant area… You noticed that Longshot and Smellerbee were looking at a map.

"So have we figured out where we are?" you asked as you stood and walked over to everyone else.

"Not exactly we're near the northern coast," Smellerbee said.

"We talked to some fishermen in town and they said they'd bring us to ember Island" Jet said.

"Oh that should only be one day at sea" kaito said. Everyone looked at him, how would he know how long it would take to sail there. "It's a water bender thing" he defended.

"And here I thought you were useless" Daisuke said with a grin.

You looked at Longshot, he had a weird look in his eyes, and you found yourself saying, "you're right, it would be best to stay away from the mainland, besides we'll have a better chance of finding Aang"

Kaito and Daisuke looked between you and Longshot in confusion. Smellerbee looked at you in amazement.

"You understand him?" Kaito asked

"I guess I do…" you trailed off, Longshot smiled at you.

"I'm impressed, it took me a year," Jet admitted
