After being on the fishing boat for most of the day you remembered how much you hated being on boats, they're boring and it reminded you too much of Zuko's ship. At least the crew wasn't gawking at you. The boat dropped you, Kaito, Jet, Daisuke, Smellerbee and Longshot off on Ember Island. It was very pretty, it reminded you of your island. A cherry blossom tree at the edge of a cliff caught your eye. The flowers were blooming. It reminded you of your cherry blossom tree, it was strange you haven't thought about it in a while, but you suddenly missed it, missed your island, missed your home. Everything was simple then, you couldn't decide if that was a good or a bad thing.

"Kana! Hey Kana... snap out of it!" Kaito yelled trying to get your attention.

"…What?" you trailed off

"Come on" Kaito motioned to the rest of the group; they were already a decent distance away from you. "Geez you're so spacey sometimes"

"Sorry" you mumbled.

Kaito linked arms with you "come on sis I know you're upset but I've always been able to get you to smile" he said with a grin.

You sighed, "thanks Kaito, I appreciate it, I just miss home" and Zuko but now isn't a good time to bring that up.

"We'll be home soon enough, first we gotta help the avatar"

Your little group found some old abandoned houses in the woods and decided to stay there. You had to admit Ember Island was pretty nice. In general the people were nice. There weren't even any wanted posters of you. After a few days everyone except Jet were able to relax. Kaito started flirting with the local girls, smellerbee and longshot became friends with some kids, Daisuke liked to show off his athletic ability by playing volleyball at the beach all the time. You kept to yourself most of the time but you did enjoy wondering around town and sunbathing at the beach. Jet tends to follow you around which is annoying though he is good at keeping people away from you, sometimes too good.

Currently you're sunbathing; Jet is sitting next to you. Daisuke and Kaito are showing off and smellerbee and longshot are swimming.

"I don't like this" Jet spoke in hushed tones "someone is going to recognize us"

"You really need to relax, we'll be fine" you replied with your eyes closed.

"How can I relax, theirs fire nation people everywhere"

"You do realize we're in the fire nation, and that I'm fire nation" you propped yourself up on your elbows and looked at Jet.

"You're not like them, you're different"

"So are they, not everyone is as crazy as the fire lord and Azula," you reasoned. "They're people, they don't have to agree with everything the fire lord says, they just can't speak out against it"

"Well they should, a good person would" Jet argued.

"Do you really think you're so good just because you aren't fire nation, you tried to drown a village, you tried to kill innocent people" you knew it was hash but Jet was getting on your nerves.

"I've changed" he looked away "I'm not like that anymore" he looked ashamed.

You couldn't help but feel bad for him, "I know" you tone softened "but you can't condemn everyone in the fire nation."

Jet just looked at you for a few moments, then he spoke "you know, my parents were killed by fire benders"

"And you have every right to hate the fire lord and those firebenders, but how can you hate them?" you motioned to a group of little kids playing in the sand, "or them" you pointed to the guys playing volleyball with kaito and daisuke.

Jet sighed, "You're always right aren't you" he said with a sly grin.

You laughed, "I'm not always right, I'm just reasonable"

You and jet talked until you decided to play volleyball with kaito and daisuke. The three of you beat a cocky group of guys. After the game one of the guys walked over to you. Kaito and Daisuke stood behind you, ready to go into over protective brother mode if needed.

"Hey you're pretty good, what your name?" the guy asked, he looked you up and down.

'Great another jerk' you thought "its Kana" you replied. 'Shit, forgot my alias'

"Cool name, just like that rouge firebender everyone is looking for" he said, it took all of your strength not to break out laughing at how stupid this guy is. Kaito was laughing hysterically. "I'm Chan by the way."

You nodded, not trusting yourself to speak, you'd probably just laugh.

Chan continued, "so I'm having this party tonight, all the cool people are going to be there."

"Sounds fun, can I bring some friends?" you asked.

He nodded a yes, "as long as you spend some time with me" he said with a cocky grin.

"Yeah…sure…"You rolled your eyes, thankfully he didn't notice, you turned to walk back to your brothers.

"See you at sunset!" Chan called after you.

It didn't take much convincing to get kaito and daisuke to go to the party. Kaito was really excited to 'bust a move' as he put it. Daisuke was looking forward to free food. Smellerbee and Longshot were a bit young so they decided to stay home. Jet just wanted to go because you were definitely going. You deserve to have some fun once in a while; besides it might help you get your mind off things.

You dressed in a black halter-top that ended just above your belly button and a red skirt that was long in the back and shorter in the front. You were happy to be wearing your normal clothes again. You looked in the mirror; you still didn't look like you. You decided to continue to dye your hair so it's easier to blend in but you really hated being brunette. Your hair was starting to get long again, it just past your shoulder, you couldn't understand how it grew so fast. A little bit after sunset you, your brothers and Jet left for the party.
