Spatterson- ok i understand the whole storyline but you said you had it all typed up, so what do you want me to do?
I"m also not really happy with this chapter but it had to happen to move the story along.
I'm going to try to update at least once a day, i might get really busy in the near future so if i don't update for a while it just means i have a lot of work to do and i'll update soon.
You, Aang, Sokka and Toph were flying on Appa back to the invasion. There were fire Nation soldiers everywhere and now that they were able to firebend, Aang's army was quickly losing. Appa landed near Katara, Hakoda, Jet, Daisuke and Kaito.
"It was all a trap! Azula knew we were coming and she's plotted out every move! We've just got to get to the beach as fast as we can If we can make it to the submarines, maybe we can get away safely." Sokka said as all of you jumped off of Appa's back.
"They've got air power, but so do I!" Aang said as he opened his glider, "I'm gonna do what I can to slow them down."
You joined your brothers and Jet.
"Where's Longshot and Smellerbee?" you asked worried.
"Don't worry they're safe" Jet said pointing to a rooftop, where Longshot was expertly firing arrows while Smellerbee took care of the close range enemies.
"Where the hell have you been?" Kaito yelled.
"I found Iroh then we went to look for the fire lord but we found Azula instead, they knew about the invasion all along" you replied.
"What's the plan?" Daisuke asked.
"For now we stay and fight." You sighed. "We're being pushed back now that the eclipse is over"
"Get back to the subs!" Sokka yelled.
Smellerbee and Longshot joined you as all of you ran towards the subs; you quickly caught up with Aang and his group. There was a serious lack of firebenders along the way, you couldn't help but feel uneasy about it.
Airships passed overhead but they weren't attacking. They could have easily attacked, so why didn't they?
"They're heading for the beach" Aang said, "They're going to destroy the submarines!" he realized in a panic.
"How are we all going to escape?" Sokka asked hopelessly.
Hakoda approached, aided by Bato, "We're not"
"Then our only choice is to stay and fight. We have the Avatar, we can still win" Sokka said defiantly. You looked around, everyone looked exhausted, there's no way anyone would be able to fight, it would be suicide.
"Yes, with the Avatar we could still win. On another day. You kids have to leave. You have to escape on Appa together." Hakoda said.
"What? We can't leave you behind! We won't leave anyone behind!" Katara yelled in a panic as she grabbed her father.
"You're our only chance in the long run. You and Sokka have to go with Aang somewhere safe. It's the only way to keep hope alive."
"The youngest of our group should go with you. The adults will stay behind and surrender. We'll be prisoners, but we'll all survive this battle." Bato said.
You watched as everyone argued about whose staying and whose leaving, you felt the need to step in but you stayed silent.
"They're right, surrendering is the best option, at least if we surrender they won't kill us all" Daisuke said.
"The surrender would be enough of a distraction for you guys to get Aang to safety." Kaito added.
"No all of you kids are going" Hakoda said.
"Theirs no way all of us will fit on Appa" Katara said as she glanced at you.
You watched as everyone said their goodbyes, and all of the kids got onto Appa. You hung back, katara was right there's no way everyone would be able to fit on Appa.
"Come on Kana!" Jet yelled.
You shook your head, "I'm staying, we can't all fit, and besides I broke out of the boiling rock once, I'll be fine"
"She's right" Katara said. Daisuke and Jet glared at her.
"Kana, if you stay the fire lord will execute you" Kaito said as he jumped off of Appa.
"Come on Kana, we can all squish together" Aang said unconvincingly.
Kaito approached you, "Kana as your older brother I am ordering you to get on the god damn bison"
"Besides you weigh all of two pounds, Appa won't mind" Jet said.
They eventually convinced you to get on Appa and he took off instantly. Appa was having trouble staying in flight. Firebenders began attacking from the airships and Appa had trouble dodging the fireballs.
"Everyone stay down!" Aang yelled as he and Appa tried to safely maneuver through the skies.
"Jet, Daisuke, I need you to hold me steady, I think I can deal with the fireballs" you told them. They nodded, as you carefully stood and they helped you keep your balance. You began shooting fireballs at the incoming fireballs. You were able to successfully shield Appa from the fireballs, allowing him and Aang to concentrate on flying.
Once you were a safe distance away you sat down exhausted. All you wanted to do was relax but you were instantly bombarded with questions by almost everyone.
"Quiet!" Aang yelled. That shut everyone up. "Kana why were you going to stay behind?" he asked, it was the same question everyone else was asking.
You stayed silent, you didn't really have a reason, other than the fact that a certain water bender definitely did not want you there, but you didn't want to say that out loud.
"Come on Kana you can tell us" Smellerbee said.
You sighed, "I guess its because I know that most of you don't trust me" you said in a small voice. Daisuke put a comforting hand on your shoulder as Longshot and Smellerbee hugged you. Jet glared at Katara. You looked around to see that almost everyone was looking down ashamed.
"Kana you helped me so much during the invasion" Aang said, "we couldn't have done it without you"
"You're a smart kid, you would have found a way, but I'm glad I was able to help" you replied.
"Can you really blame us the fire Nation has destroyed most of our lives" Teo said timidly as if he was just saying it for arguments sake.
"You have every right to hate the firebenders that hurt you, but the worst feeling is to be judged based solely on the race I was born" you said quietly.
Everyone stayed silent, thinking about what you said.
After a while Aang felt uncomfortable with the silence so he changed the topic. Daisuke and Kaito directed him the air temple because it would be a good hiding place.
(Zuko's POV)
After you left your father's chamber you tried to find General Sung, but it was as if he disappeared. When you left the secret bunker you ran to the imperial prison and up to Uncle's cell but found that he was gone.
You found war balloon, it was slightly damaged but still flyable. You knew you had find Kana. Once you were at a decent elevation you saw the Avatar's bison in the distance, they were being attacked by the airships. You saw Kana using her bending to protect them. You couldn't help but smile at her.
You followed them through the night.
