Aang and Jet flew on Appa back to the western air temple while you and Zuko took the war balloon. You left shortly after Zuko and Aang met Ran and Shao. Once the balloon was at the right elevation and going in the right direction Zuko sat on the floor of the basket. You were leaning against the side of the basket, you watched as Appa flew out of sight. You felt Zuko lean against your leg so you decided to sit next to him.

"So is it too late to ask you what you wanted to talk to me about?" Zuko asked timidly.

You sighed as you looked at Zuko's remorseful face. "I lost my bending for a while, its why I went to the sun warrior's civilization."

Zuko was completely shocked, "why didn't you tell me?" He asked as you kneeled in front of you.

"Well I tried to, it's not something I wanted to say in front of everyone, silly," you explained as you pulled your knees up to your chest.

He looked away feeling ashamed, "I'm sorry I just ran off, I know I need to stop doing that"

"yeah you do" you said with a laugh, "I know you like to do things by yourself, but would it kill you to let me help once in while" you reasoned. Zuko's reply was a sweet kiss on your cheek. You smiled in response.

(Daisuke's POV)

You and Kaito have been keeping your distance from Sung, knowing Kaito it was because he didn't want to get violent, but you stayed away because you're terrified of losing your little sister. Sung was a great person, full of stories and for some reason everyone trusted him more than they trusted Kana and Zuko but you hated that he was here.

When this is all over you wondered what would happen to your family, you and Kaito would go home, but for Kana? Theirs more for her in the fire nation. You kind of figured she would eventually go with Zuko but now that her biological father is here, you wondered if that day would be sooner.

You were perched on top of a ledge that was close enough that you could hear everything but far enough that they couldn't hear you. You watched as everyone gathered around the fire listening to Sung's story. You frowned.

"I know little brother," kaito said as he put a comforting hand on your shoulder, "This changes everything"

(Zuko's POV)

Kana rested her head on your shoulder; you wrapped your arms around her small body.

"So what happened" you asked breaking the silence.

You felt Kana frown, you knew it was hard for her to talk about; you just wished you were there for her when it was happening.

"You were there when it happened" she whispered, you pulled away in shock, then you remembered Kana fighting Ty Li. It must have happened then.

"Ty Li did something to me that cut off my chi, I couldn't fire bend for days and it really freaked me out, I felt like I was missing a part of my self" Kana said as you held her closer, "I ran back where we were hiding, and told everyone we had to go,"

She was about to speak but you cut her off, "Then you stole Chan's boat" Kana looked at you curiously. "I watched you escape, if I had gotten there sooner I would have jumped aboard but you were already too far away" you explained.

Kana relaxed against your chest, you absently started to play with her hair as she continued. "I couldn't fire bend for days, it really freaked me out, my temper was almost as bad as yours" she said jokingly, "I almost killed Jet several times" she added. "But we ended up at western air temple and I found out that the sun warriors civilization was nearby, I thought I might be able unblock my chi if I learned about the origins of firebending. Once I got there, I passed all of the tests. The Chief told me that what Ty Li did to me only lasted a few hours and that I actually lost sight of my inner fire. They helped me get my bending back, then I met the masters" as she finished she looked up at your face.

You smiled at her, "so what fuels your bending?" you asked, you were genuinely curious.

Kana smiled to herself, "Love" she replied, "I guess when I thought you betrayed me, I lost sight of that"

"Kana, it was all Azula…" you tried to explain but she cut you off by putting two fingers over your mouth.

"I know that now" she whispered, "I kind of wonder what it would be like if we actually ran away together"

"We can still do that," you offered jokingly, though a part of you really wanted to run away with Kana, leave everything behind and just be with her.

Kana laughed, "How about after we help Aang save the world?" she questioned.

"I'd like that"

"So would I"

(Kaito's POV)

You stood up as Appa landed, but you only saw Aang and Jet. You and Daisuke jumped down from your perch.

"Guy's you'll never believe it! The dragons still exist! And check it out" Aang said in excitement as he created a fire blast.

"Where's Kana and Zuko?" Daisuke asked.

"They took the war balloon, they should be back soon, I thought they were going to kill Jet!" Aang replied, Jet was trying to sneak away but Daisuke caught him and started yelling at him about how he needs to stop following Kana, you had to admit it was probably in his best interest because Zuko's temper was bad but if he keeps pushing Kana, he's going to regret it.

"Who's that?" Aang asked curiously when he finally noticed Sung's presence.

"It is an honor to meet you, young avatar," Sung said as he respectfully bowed his head. "I'm Kana's father," he added.

"Theirs no need to bow…" Aang said embarrassed, then he realized what Sung had said, "Kana's father? So you're a firebender too! Kana's a really a great teacher!" Aang rambled on and on.

You looked at Daisuke who gave you a sympathetic look, Kana would be back soon, and everything is going to be different.
