Really Important Author's Note- Hi everyone their seems to be a bit of confusion so i would like to clarify it. Lately i've been getting a lot of guest reviews for this story that think that other authors are writing this. I can assure you that Not Your Average Firebender is written by me aLovelyHate, their is no other author for this story. Its really upsetting that someone is going around telling people that this story is their work. I work really hard on this story and i'm really proud of it. Secondly please keep the reviews about this story(exclusion to Spatterson contact me however is easiest for you) if you have questions not about this story or about this story feel free send me a message, again this is mostly an issue with the guest reviews.
Spatterson- i like your idea, the arguing was a bit much, the fairies seem more like they would bicker but not argue, when i get to posting that chapter i'll change, i my tweak what you sent me just so it makes more sense.
fallin1551- I'm glad you like my story and i try to keep it as close to the show as possible. At the moment i'm not planning on a sequel but if i get inspiration of one then i'll gladly write it, if not i have a plan for how to end this and i think it will be a good ending that everyone will be pretty happy with.
pokemonjkl- I'm glad you enjoyed that chapter it was one of my favorites to write
The last few days were full of training; Sung has been teaching you and Zuko some new firebending forms. You're never really sure what to call Sung, calling him dad feels weird and father is too formal, to be honest you've been trying to avoid calling him by a name, its less awkward that way. You and Zuko have been teaching Aang more about firebending, and he's learning really fast. You've been practicing with your sword with Kaito and Daisuke, it really made you miss your duel swords, but those were lost months ago, so you've been using the sword Jet gave you before the invasion.
Currently you're training with Zuko and Sung.
"Good job Kana, nice form" Sung said, as you finished a form and kicked fire into the air. You smiled feeling accomplished.
"How am I doing?" Zuko asked as he finished the same form and kicked a smaller amount of fire into the air. Zuko was frustrated and yelled like he usually does.
"Zuko you did fine" Sung reassured him.
"Yeah Zuko you just need to relax" you said as you tried to comfort him.
"I think this is enough training for today," Sung said, realizing that you need some time to calm Zuko down. He waved as he left the balcony.
You turned back to Zuko, who was wallowing in self-pity… again. "Come on, talk to me," you said as you sat next to him and leaned into his shoulder.
Zuko ran a hand through his hair and sighed.
You waited a few moments before resting your head on his shoulder, "I don't know about you, but I've got all day" you said.
Zuko laughed, "You're cute"
"Cute enough to talk to" you said with a silly smile.
"You're persistent"
"I'm pretty sure persistence is the reason we're together but on to another topic, what's bothering you?" you asked. Normally you wouldn't pry but Zuko is clearly upset about your training session and the last time he was upset after training you avoided him all day, and he didn't notice. You're not going to deal with that again.
Zuko brushed his fingers over his scar then looked at you and spoke, "I just don't get it, why is it so difficult for me to firebend"
"What do you mean? You're a great firebender," you said as you moved to hug him.
"Then why do you make it look easy?" he asked in frustration, it wasn't insulting, he was just upset. "I always have to try so hard"
"I think you worry to much," you said softly as you let Zuko out of the hug. "Actually you're always so worried about everything, you really need to relax"
Suddenly Zuko pulled you into his lap. He held you close as he looked into your eyes and smirked. "I know one way to do that," he said, before leaning in and kissing you. The passionate kiss seemed to last a lifetime. You wrapped your arms around Zuko as the kiss deepened.
"Ew that's gross!" Smellerbee yelled as she and Longshot walked onto the balcony. You and Zuko instantly pulled away from each other in embarrassment, neither of you are comfortable with public displays of affection and getting caught is even worse. Getting alone time was Zuko is so difficult, between the kids running around, and your brothers and Jet always walking in as soon as you and Zuko are alone, its nearly impossible to get any alone time with Zuko.
"One day you're going to find someone to kiss like that" you retorted still blushing. It is true, eventually everyone finds someone.
"Gross" Smellerbee said as she glanced at Longshot, who glanced back at her. Which ended in both of them turning away blushing, "well, anyway, I just wanted to tell you guys that Daisuke is making food, it should be ready soon" Smellerbee said quickly before turning and rushing back downstairs, closely followed by Longshot.
You smiled at the two kids; they were kind of like a little brother and sister. You turned back to Zuko. "Wanna go?" you asked.
"I'd rather keep relaxing" Zuko said with a sly smile, you gave him a look so he continued, "I think it helped my firebending" he added, then did the same form as earlier, but this time it was significantly stronger and took less of a toll on Zuko.
You couldn't help but laugh, "As much as I love kissing you, it's not very practical to kiss you every time you need to fire bend"
"But you do love kissing me" Zuko said as he wrapped his arms around you.
You giggled, "You really have a one track mind," you laughed then leaned up and kissed his nose, "but yes I do love kissing you."
After a few more sweet kisses and a bit of convincing you finally got Zuko to go downstairs. You and Zuko walked into the main common area, Zuko had is arm around your waist. He wasn't scared to hold you anymore because Sung made it very clear that he has no authority over you, and Kaito hasn't been trying to kill Zuko lately. Everyone was waiting for Daisuke to finish the food; he's really good at cooking. Daisuke and Kaito were always great at cooking they're just lazy and tend to make you cook, unfortunately the only thing you're good at making is tea. Zuko let go of you and went to talk to Aang, while you walked over to Daisuke.
"Smells good, what is it?" you asked.
"It's the stew mom taught us how to make" Daisuke replied.
"Mine never smells this good" you commented.
"Sis you're great at a lot of things but cooking is not one of them" Daisuke said with a laugh.
"Yeah really, you almost gave me food poisoning last time" Kaito added.
"I'm not even going to deny that" you are really bad at cooking.
"Wanna make some tea?" Daisuke asked. You nodded and started to make so vanilla chai tea, your favorite.
Once the food was finished, Daisuke started to hand it out to everyone, while you passed tea out to everyone. You offered Zuko some tea as you sat down beside him on the partially destroyed bench. Everyone has claimed a spot in the common area and this is yours and Zuko's.
"Tea always makes me miss Uncle" Zuko mumbled.
"I miss him too"
"I tried to find him during the invasion but he was gone," Zuko said miserably, "I don't even know if he's alright"
"I think he's alright" you said as you pulled out the lotus tile Iroh gave you during the invasion, "I found Iroh during the invasion and he gave me this" you handed the tile to Zuko, "he escaped on his own, he was able to the whole time"
Zuko smiled as he took the lotus tile, "that crazy old man"
You were about to speak when you heard footsteps, coming from the main entrance. It seems like every few days someone else shows up, first Zuko, then Sung, now you turned to see who it is.
"Mommy?" Kaito said in shock, you and Daisuke did a double take to make sure you weren't seeing thing. Once your father appeared beside your mother you knew it was true.
"My beautiful babies!" your mom practically shouted as Kaito picked her and your father up in a hug. You and Daisuke ran over, though not as enthusiastically as Kaito. Sometimes is hard to believe that he's the oldest.
"You mean two beautiful babies, Kaito isn't much to look at" Daisuke said, and you laughed in agreement as Kaito pulled you and Daisuke into the hug. Kaito was so happy he didn't even have a come back. All of you were happy.
Once you were released you asked, "Mom, Dad what are you doing here?"
"Well once the house and the village were rebuild, it was pretty lonely without you three," Your dad explained.
"We decided to look for you" your mom finished, "oh and we brought a surprise"
You, daisuke and Kaito looked at each other in confusion. You heard three sets of footsteps.
"Oh gross, these losers," Kaito said as Ike, Yahigo, and Domon walked in.
"The only gross one is you" Ike retorted.
"I see you got uglier" Yahigo added.
Upon seeing Domon, Zuko rushed to your side. Both of them reached you at the same time.
"A fire lily for the lovely lady" Domon offered.
You shook your head as Zuko wrapped his arms around you. "Sorry Domon I can't accept it"
"I guess this means I really don't have a chance," he said with a smile. You smiled back "friends?" he asked.
"Friends" you nodded in agreement, Zuko was glaring at him so you elbowed him and said 'play nice.'
You heard Jet in the corner complaining to Longshot and Smellerbee, "Seriously, another one! I'll never have a chance" Zuko redirected his glare at Jet. Those two will never get along.
You turned back to your parents as Zuko let go of you. "So I guess now would be a good time to say Zuko's my boyfriend"
"We figured" Mom said with a smile.
"It was pretty obvious" Dad added. You blushed. Then he turned to Zuko and spoke. "You've been taking care of my daughter?" he asked. "I seem to remember a promise you made"
Zuko looked down ashamed, "Sir, I've broken my promise, I wasn't very good at keeping Kana safe, she's usually the one keeping me safe"
Your dad crossed his arms and glared at Zuko, you knew this act rather well, he always used it to guilt Kaito and Daisuke when they mess up. Zuko fell for it and he looked terrified. Your mom nudged your father, "Dear you're scaring the poor boy," she said as your father's glare softened.
"I'm not surprised, Kana never liked being treated like a damsel in distress. I'm surprised she hasn't scared you away"
"Dad! I'm not that bad!" you yelled, he laughed.
"Nothing could scare me away sir" Zuko said as he smiled at you.
Feeling embarrassed by the conversation you decided to change the topic, you turned to your mom and dad and your brother's friends. "Well I guess I should introduce you to everyone" you paused a moment, "These are my parents Saika of the Earth Kingdom and Nato of the Northern Water Tribe, then theirs Ike, Yahigo and Domon, They're needy and annoying" you said, earning a glare from the 3 benders, "But they're like family" you added, then you started introducing team avatar. "That's Aang, he's the avatar, Katara and Sokka are from the southern water tribe, Sokka is the bad joke guy,"
"Finally the recognition I deserve" Sokka said in agreement.
You laughed and continued, "and Toph used to be the blind bandit." you said as you pointed to each person, "Then theirs the freedom fighters, The Duke, I don't think he's ever had a home, Longshot, he's quiet but an awesome archer and Smellerbee," you turned to your parents, "I hope you don't mind a few more kids running around, all of them lost their homes and families"
"We'd love to have them," your mother said with a smile as she walked over to them. The Duke instantly ran to your mom and hugged her; Smellerbee and Longshot were a bit more timid and only smiled.
"And then theirs Jet he's the leader of the freedom fighters, and as much as he denies it, he needs a home" you said. "I thought maybe he could stay with us too." You were a bit surprised to see Zuko nodding in agreement.
Jet was about to protest when Daisuke spoke, "I bicker with him about as much as I do with kaito, we're practically brothers"
"Besides Jet can help us make Zuko's life hell," Kaito added with a smile.
Jet was completely shocked, Kaito and Daisuke are hard on him but that's how they show affection. They really do act like brothers. Even though you and Jet tend to argue, you'll always be friends and you'd rather him live with your family then be off on his own, no one should ever be alone.
"As long as Jet is ok with it, he's welcome to make our home, his home" Your dad said with a fatherly smile.
Jet grinned, "how can I say no to that" he said as he chewed on a piece of grass.
"Then it's settled" Your mom said, your father nodding in agreement.
You went back to introducing people, "That's Teo, his father is an inventor, then theirs Haru, he's an earthbender. " you turned to Sung, you weren't sure how to introduce him. Thankfully you didn't have to.
"That's Sung, he's Kana's biological father" Kaito said, once he noticed your distress.
Your parents were shocked for a moment, but soon regained their composure and walked over to Sung.
"Would you like to play Pai Sho?" Your mom asked.
"I would love to" Sung replied.
You and Zuko looked at each other. "Really" you whispered at the same time Zuko whispered "No way" to you. Everyone watch in confusion as Sung and your mom sat down to play pai sho.
"You can make the first move," Your mom said.
Sung nodded and placed the lotus tile in the middle. Your eyes widened and you looked at Zuko, he was just as shocked as you were.
"I see you favor the white lotus gambit" your father commented.
"Not many still cling to the ancient ways" your mother added.
"You've got to be kidding me," you mumbled.
"Those who do can always find a friend" Sung answered.
Zuko threw his arms up in frustration, "That's it I'm done" he said dramatically.
"Do all old people know each other of something?" you asked remembering the exact words being spoken by Iroh and the Pai Sho player who helped you escape.
"What's with you two?" Aang asked. You and Zuko did create a bit of a scene.
You ignored his question and turned to your parents. "Some one needs to explain what the order of the white lotus is" you demanded.
"Yeah, and what does it have to do with my uncle?" Zuko added.
Everyone was looking at you and Zuko like you were crazy, which to be honest you were starting to think you are. How could Iroh and your parents be in the same organization?
Your mom just smiled at you as your dad said, "The order of the White Lotus will reveal all of its secrets in time."
