Hey sorry i haven't been updating, i've been working an average of 20 hours a week at my job and 40 hours a week at my internship so time is something i don't really have. Thanks for being patient with my slow updates.
Spatterson- If you want to write something like that and send it to me i'll gladly post it, but i don't have time to write it. I just posted the last chapter, so let me know if you want me to change the story from in-progress to completed or wait for you to send me that.
Clairabeth98- Thank you i really appreciate your kind words and that you speak so highly of my writing, but theirs a lot of things wrong with my writing, i know my grammar isn't the best, I'm just pretty good at telling a story. I'm glad you like my story so much and i hope you have a wonderful day too.
That night you and Zuko were keeping an eye out for the Boiling Rock. You knew you were close. Sokka was sleeping as indicated by his loud snoring. Zuko has been nervous all day; you knew it was your fault.
"Zuko" you said suddenly, he looked at you, "I'm sorry, I know you're so upset because you're scare of me getting hurt"
Zuko put an arm around your waist and pulled you close, you timidly put a hand on his chest. "Just promise you'll stay close to me?" he asked, "I'll be able to protect you"
You were about to say that you don't need to be protected but decided against it. Zuko knows that you can protect yourself; he wants to protect you because he loves you.
You leaned against Zuko as he wrapped his arms around you and looked out into the ocean. To be perfectly honest you were terrified to be going back to the Boiling Rock, but you can't let Zuko know that.
"Their it is!" Zuko yelled. Sokka woke up at the sound of his voice. Looks like you don't have much time left to panic before you get there. "Theirs plenty of steam to keep us covered. As long as we're quiet, we should be able to navigate through it without being caught." He added.
As the balloon came in contact with the steam the balloon started to lose elevation.
"We're going down! The balloon isn't working away more!" Zuko yelled frantically.
"The air outside is hotter than the air inside so we can't fly" you said. Zuko just looked at you curiously.
"I was going to say that!" Sokka yelled.
The balloon tipped a bit and you fell into Zuko, "So what are we suppose to do?" he yelled frantically.
"I don't know! Crash landing?" Sokka yelled.
"I got this!" you yelled as you steered the balloon towards the shore, you braced yourself as the balloon almost landed in the water of the boiling lake. Apparently taking the war balloon to the sun warriors civilization came in handy. The basket of the balloon hit a jagged rock on the shore, which launched the three of you out of the basket. You landed on the sand, and Zuko landed on top of you.
"Ow" you mumbled. Zuko rolled off of you as soon as he realized he was on top of you. You sat up and looked at him, "Did I ever mention how happy I am that you don't wear armor anymore." Zuko frowned remembering all of the times his armor hurt you.
You looked at the war balloon it was completely destroyed.
"How are we going to get off this island if the balloon doesn't work?" Zuko asked.
"We'll figure something out" Sokka said, "I figured that this might be a one-way ticket."
"You thought this could happen and you wanted to come anyway" Zuko was furious, "You should have told me, I never would have let Kana come here"
"I would have followed you either way" you responded.
"My dad might be here! I had to come and see" Sokka argued.
"And Uncle says that I never think things through… but this, this is just crazy!" Zuko yelled.
"Hey, I never wanted you to come along in the first place!" Sokka yelled as he gathered parts of the destroyed war balloon. "And for the record, I always think things through! But my plans haven't exactly worked, so this time, I'm playing it by ear. So there" he kicked the remains of the balloon into the water.
"I can't believe neither of you have a plan" you mumbled.
"What are you doing?" Zuko asked upon seeing the balloon sinking.
"It doesn't work anyway, and we don't want anyone to find it" Sokka said
"I hope you know what you're doing" Zuko said as the three of you turned towards the prison, "Theirs no turning back now"
"Come on" you said suddenly, Zuko and Sokka looked at you curiously. "The guards do a walk around the perimeter every hour, we need to get inside" you explained.
You led Zuko and Sokka into the prison; you motioned for them to stay silent. The three of you swiftly traversed the hallways until you stopped in front of a door.
"What's this?" Sokka asked as you opened the door.
"The uniform supply room" you replied as you walked in.
You put on a female guard uniform, while they found the men's uniforms, you picked up three helmets and handed them each one.
"I hope these disguises work," Zuko said as the three of you stepped into the hallway.
"We just need to lay low and find my dad as fast as possible," Sokka said.
Suddenly a few guards ran past you, Sokka and Zuko started to panic but you remained calm. One of the guards turned back and yelled "Guards, theirs a scuffle in the yard, come one"
The three of you followed the guards into the yard where one guards appeared to be bullying Chit Sang, a huge inmate who looks a lot scarier than he actually is. The guard whipped fire at him.
Zuko was about to approach them when Sokka held him back. "We don't want to blow our cover"
"But he didn't do anything" Zuko argued.
"It doesn't matter the guards are cruel, and they bully inmates for fun." You said darkly as you looked away, "But don't worry about Chit Sang, he can hold his own"
"What did I do?" Chit Sang asked.
"He wants to know what he did" the guard laughed, and then turned to you, Zuko and Sokka, "Isn't that cute?" he asked.
"Uh, very cute sir" Zuko said.
"Totally cute" you replied.
"Super cute" Sokka added.
The guard walked up and Chit Sang and said, "you didn't bow down when I walked by"
"What? That's not a prison rule" he said in shock.
After forcing Chit Sang to firebend, the guard ordered that Sokka help bring him to the cooler. You shuttered at the thought. Sokka said he would meet you in the yard in an hour. So you and Zuko wandered around the prison.
"What's the cooler?" Zuko asked when the two of you were alone. You could tell from his voice that he noticed when you shuttered.
"It's a small room, just big enough to stand in, its so cold you can't firebend" you replied.
"Have you" he paused, "Did they put you in there?" Zuko asked timidly, afraid of the answer.
You sighed, "Yes"
"Kana" Zuko said.
"Shh, we can't talk about this here" you told him. Zuko reluctantly stayed silent.
The two of you walked into the lounge, you figured it would be a good place to gather intel on what prisoners are currently here.
"Have you seen the warden today?" one guard asked.
"Nope and I don't want to" another replied. "Ever since that rouge firebender escaped he's been so mean"
"You say that like he was nice before that," the two guards laughed, you knew they were talking about you.
"Hey you two must be new!" one male guard yelled. "I know it's a rule to keep your helmet on at all time but this is the lounge, relax" he said.
"What if theirs an incident? If I'm not prepared, someone could strike me on the head" Zuko said. Thankfully the helmet covers your face because you were trying so hard not to laugh, Zuko is so socially awkward sometimes.
The group of guards laughed. "Give it a week, he'll relax" a female guard said.
"Can a new guy ask a few veterans a few questions about the prison?" Zuko asked.
"No you can't date the female guards," the female guard said bluntly.
"He wouldn't want to" you mumbled, Thankfully no one heard you.
"Trust me, you don't want to" one of the male guards laughed earning a glare from the female guard.
"That's not it, The Boiling Rock, it holds the Fire Nation's most dangerous prisoners, right?" He paused as the guards nodded. "What about war prisoners?"
"Why so interested in the inmates?" the female guard asked.
"Jealous he's not interested in you" one of the male guards joked. The female guard glared at him.
You looked at Zuko, he didn't know what to say so you spoke, "We have a bet, I said that there would be more Earth Kingdom prisoners and he bet that there would be more Water Tribe," you explained.
"Huh, let me think, you know I don't think we have any Water Tribe prisoners right now" one guard said.
"Yeah ever since that rouge firebender… what was her name…Kana? Escaped, we've been getting less prisoners" another said.
"Oh we have a kyoshi warrior! And I heard we might be getting some pirates" the first said.
That was all the info you needed, if someone from the invasion was here, the guards would have known. The first chance you got you and Zuko slipped out of the room and headed off to meet Sokka.
