Act two had just finished and everyone was outside the theatre again.
"It seems like every time there's a big battle you guys barely make it out alive. I mean, you guys lose a lot. " Suki commented.
"You're one to talk, Suki. Didn't Azula take you captive? That's right, she did. " Sokka replied accusingly.
"Are you trying to get on my bad side?" Suki threatened.
"I'm just saying. " Sokka replied defensively.
"Does anyone know where Aang is?" Katara asked.
"He left to get me fire gummies like, 10 minutes ago. And I'm still waiting." Sokka replied.
"I'm going to check outside." She said as she walked away.
"At least you guys are alive!" Jet complained as he leaned against a wall.
"At least you aren't portrayed as a jerk," Zuko mumbled bitterly.
"Guys the play doesn't matter, it's really inaccurate"
"But its how the world see us" Zuko replied feeling ashamed, "Maybe I really am that cruel" Zuko whispered. You hugged him in an attempt to comfort him, but it wasn't working.
"Then maybe I'm really dead" Jet said trying to cheer Zuko up.
"Suki, what are the chances you can get me backstage I got some jokes I want to give to the actor me. " Sokka asked.
"I'm an elite warrior who's trained for many years in the art of stealth. I think I can get you backstage. " She said with a smile as the two of them walked off.
"Jeez. Everyone's getting so upset about their characters. Even you seem more down than usual and that's saying something." Toph said to Zuko.
"You don't get it. It's different for you. You get a muscley version of yourself taking down 10 bad guys at once and making sassy remarks. " Zuko argued as he slide against the wall, pulling you with him.
"Yeah, that's pretty great." Toph replied.
"But for me, it takes all the mistakes I've made in my life and shove them back in my face. My Uncle. He's always been on my side even when things were bad. He was there for me. He taught me so much and how do I repay him? With a knife in his back. It's my greatest regret and I may never get to redeem myself. And I just left Kana" he said, "I don't even know why you forgave me, I don't deserve it" he continued as he looked at you.
"Zuko" You scolded. "You've made mistakes, everyone has, the point is that you're learning from them"
"You have redeemed yourself to your Uncle. You don't realize it but you already have." Toph told him.
"How do you know?"
"Because I once had a long conversation with the guy and all he would talk about was you. " Toph replied with a smile.
Zuko lowered his hood to hide his smile, you giggled softly as he asked "Really?" in a childish tone.
"Yeah, and it was kind of annoying."
"Oh, sorry."
"But it was also very sweet. All your Uncle wanted was for you to find your own path and see the light. Now you're here with us. He'd be proud. " Toph finished as he punched Zuko in the shoulder.
"Ow." Zuko said as he rubbed his arm "What was that for?"
Toph smiled, "That's how I show affection."
Daisuke and Kaito walked over bickering, "I can't believe they switched us," Daisuke mumbled bitterly.
"What's the world coming to?" Kaito said dramatically.
"Again, at least you're still alive" Jet chimed in everyone laughed at him.
"I don't know I'm starting to like my character, she's a badass," you laughed.
"Just like my baby sis" Kaito added.
A little boy ran by but stopped when he saw Zuko, "Your Zuko costume is pretty good but your scar's on the wrong side. "
As the boy ran off Zuko's jaw dropped, as soon as he regained his composure he yelled, "The scar is not on the wrong side!" Zuko back in a terrible mood pulled his hood over his face and crossed his arms.
"Come on Act Three is about to start." Daisuke announced.
Everyone started to stand up but Zuko wasn't.
"We'll be there in a minute," You told Daisuke, then turned back to Zuko once everyone was gone. "Something else is bothering you," you stated.
"It's just hard to have all of my mistakes thrown in my face" Zuko whispered. "I've messed up so many times, I don't know how you could still love me"
"Zuko I fell in love with you the moment I saw you, and I love you now, I always will. You know this play is an over exaggeration. You were deceived so many times and you were never as cruel as they're portraying you."
"But I left you" Zuko whispered as he looked into your eyes.
"You thought you were letting me escape, I admit you were stupid for thinking that but everything worked out and all that matters is that we're together again" you smiled.
Zuko smiled. "I love you Kana I don't know what I would do without you."
"I love you too Zuko" You smiled as you stood up, "Come on lets get to our seats, I wanna see if Jet's ghost shows up in Act three and if your hair get sillier. "
Zuko laughed he stood up and hugged you. The two of you walked into the theatre as Act three was starting. The scene took place in the boiling rock prison.
Actress Kana was sitting in the middle of a prison yard surrounded by the warden and several guards.
"You know we might go easy on you if you speak" The warden said.
Actress Kana just glared at him.
"If you tell me what really happened in Ba-Sing-Se you won't be executed." The warden offered.
"The fire lord wants me dead your promises mean nothing" Actress Kana spat. The warden slapped her and she fell to the ground.
"Insolent girl" The warden said as he and the guard walked away.
"I need to get out of here, I need to find my brothers," she stated sadly as she pulled herself up.
"I'm surprised to see you here" Actor Jet said as he walked over to her, this time his hair was manageable and he actually looked sort of like Jet but he still had a flower in his mouth.
"I'm alive," the real Jet said happily, "and I look sort of better… I think"
Actress Kana looked up in shock so Actor Jet continued, "You look like you've seen a ghost."
"Considering everyone thought you died, I'm pretty surprised." Actress Kana replied, "I thought you hated firebenders"
"I do" Actor Jet said, "But you're stuck in here like me, I guess your traitor boyfriend deserted you"
Actress Kana just looked away as the scene changed to Actress kana and Actor Jet escaping.
The scene changed to the fire nation capital, Actor Kaito and Daisuke were about to executed as Actor Zuko And Azula watched. Suddenly Actress Kana stopped the execution.
"Get away from my brothers" She yelled as she disarmed the executioner.
"I got your back" Actor Jet yelled as he started fighting.
"I thought you were dead!" Actor Zuko yelled.
Actor Kaito stood in the middle of the stage, looked directly at the crowd and said, "You know it was really unclear."
You sighed, "Its pretty obvious what their favorite joke is". Zuko nodded in agreement.
The fight was strangely accurate, except for the part at the end where Actor Jet announced that he and Actress Kana are dating. The real Jet looked over to you and Zuko. Zuko childishly pulled you closer as Jet put his hands up defensively.
"You boys are so needy" you mumbled.
The scene changed to the day of black sun in the fire lord's palace.
"We finally made it to the royal palace but no one's home." Actress Aang announced.
"Actually, I'm home and I want to join you." Actor Zuko said, he still looked silly but instead of the long hair his hair was just spikey.
The Actor Gaang looked at each other. The Actor Sokka spoke. "It's up to her" he gestured off stage, where Actress Kana entered, Actor Jet following.
"Kana" Actor Zuko said in shock, he fell to his knees, "please forgive me," he begged.
"Well he kind of did do that," the real Kaito laughed.
"Zuko you're an idiot" Actress Kana stated, Actor Zuko looked down ashamed, "But you're my idiot" she said as she helped him stand and the two embraced.
"No! I thought we had something special!" Actor Jet yelled dramatically.
"Jet we weren't dating, stop telling people that we were" Actress Kana said. The real Zuko couldn't help but laugh.
The scene ended with Actor Zuko being welcomed into the group.
"I guess that's it." Sokka said as he stood and stretched. "The play's caught up to the present now. "
The theatre remained dark, everyone quiet, unsure whether to clap or leave.
"Wait. The play's not over. " Suki announced.
"But it is over" Sokka paused for a moment then said "Unless... This is the future."
Suddenly the scene changed and an cruel looking actor with an oversized crown and a glued on beard walked onto the stage.
"With the energy harnessed" Actor Ozai stated, "from that comet, no one will be able to stop the Fire Nation!"
Actress Azula kneeled before him, "Father, Zuko, the rouge firebender and the Avatar are at the palace. They're trying to stop you."
"You take care of Zuko and the rogue." He replied, " I shall face the Avatar myself. "
Ozai waved his hand and disappeared in a smoke scream. Actress Azula stood and moved to the center of the stage as Actor Zuko entered from stage right and Actress Kana entered from stage left. Actress Aang appeared behind Actor Zuko.
"Aang, you fight the Fire Lord, We'll hold her off" Actor Zuko told her as she was lifted off the stage.
"You are no longer my brother. " Actress Azula said as she clenched her fists "You are an enemy. You chose a whore over your country."
"No, I chose love and I am the rightful heir to the throne!" Actor Zuko stated as he glanced at Actress Kana.
"We'll see. "
Actress Kana and Actor Zuko attacked Actress Azula by throwing red streamers to symbolize fire. Actress Azula dodged every attack and threw blue streamers to symbolize fire. Suddenly Actress Azula whipped the blue streamers around her body as fake fire props emerged from the floor around Actress Kana. At the last moment Actor Zuko pushed her out of the way and his body was engulfed in fake fire. He raised his arms in pain as he shouted "Honor!" before dropping to the floor.
You watched in shock as Actress Kana ran to Actor Zuko, "Zuko no!" she yelled.
"It appears that I am the rightful heir to the throne," Actress Azula said as Actress Kana cried over Actor Zuko. "And my first order of business is to" she threw a silver streamer to symbolize lighting, "Eliminate you" she finished as the streamer hit Actress Kana who fell on top of Actor Zuko.
Actress Azula bowed to the crowd then disappeared through a trap door.
You were in complete shock while Zuko just stared in horror. No one knew what to say, so the tense silence continued.
The light dimmed and a fake fire props appeared from the floor as Actress Aang wandered onto the center of the stage.
"So," Actor Ozai "you have mastered all 4 elements"
"Yeah and now, you're going down. " Actress Aang said childishly. It bothered you that Actress Aang was so childish, Aang did a lot of growing up in the past few months.
"No, it is you who are going down. You see, you are too late. The comet is already here and I'm unstoppable. " Actor Ozai said as the comet appeared behind him. Actress Aang gasped in fear.
After a short battle Actress Aang was defeated. She landed gracefully on the ground with a cloth spread out around her. Seconds later Actress Azula walked on stage.
"It is over, Father. We've done it." She said triumphantly
"Yes, we have done it! The dreams of my Father and my Father's Father have now been realized." Actor Ozai said as a fire nation banner unfurled behind him. "The World is mine. "
The entire audience cheered as Actor Ozai remained in his victorious pose. You were still in shock. No one in the Gaang moved, no one knew what to say. As the theatre emptied Zuko finally broke the silence. "That... wasn't a good play" he commented unable to think of anything else but couldn't bare the silence any longer.
"I'll say." Aang agreed.
"No kidding. "
"Horrible."
"You said it."
"But the effects were decent. " Sokka admitted.
You stayed back as everyone started leaving. Zuko instantly noticed and rushed back to your side.
"Kana what's wrong?" he asked as he wrapped his arms around you.
You stayed silent; you couldn't speak your mind for once. What if Azula really does kill Zuko? You just hugged Zuko and buried your face in his chest trying not to think of future.
