Last time on Friends from Our Past... *narrator voice*

A/N: Hello everyone on the internet! Here's another fabulous chapter which I hope you love! *hugs and kisses*

Enjoy! ;)

I had taken five just like Tony said, before trudging into his lab. It was quite big, and, uh, science-y, and had a lot of stuff around. In the middle of all this mechanical madness stood the man himself, with a device and his StarkPad that seemed to hardly leave his hand.

"Well hello there," he said jokingly, sending a smile towards my direction.

I gave a smirk as reply, hearing the door open behind me and assuming it would be Steve and Bucky. But Tony's expression said differently. His eyes practically lit up like city lights and he had an actual smile on his face.

I quickly turned to see a beautiful woman standing behind me.

She had strawberry blonde hair wound up neatly and carefully, and her eyes shone like pearls. She was clad in a white blouse and grey pencil skirt, along with white stilettos adding to her height. She carried a large black folder, and when her eyes found me, her smile increased in size.

"Hey, Tony," she began sweetly. Then, she beckoned to me. "Who's that?"

Tony spared a glance at me, before taking the folder from the lady. "That's Charlotte," he said nonchalantly. Turning to me, he evaluated. "Charlotte, this is Pepper, my CEO of Stark Industries."

I smiled, really smiled at Pepper. She looked so... sweet and friendly and nothing like I'd imagine a CEO of Stark Industry to be. I shyly stepped forward, shaking her hand.

"So nice to meet you, Charlotte," she smiled professionally, shaking my left hand. I internally cried for that she didn't have to know about my vibranium hand. It would freak her out and this lady seemed so nice, I preferred if she didn't run away. She seemed to be the only one that's sane.

I nodded again.

Tony finished going through whatever was in that folder, handing it back to Pepper.

"Alright, I'll see you this evening," he quickly pecked her on the cheek, before she waved, and sashayed out of his lab.

"Well then," Tony turned to me. "Let's go get some blood."

"I hope you know that sounds really weird," I retorted sarcastically.

"Whatever. Sit down."

I took a seat in the rich burgundy chair, and I immediately tried to pinpoint something that would make me feel safe. For starters, HYDRA always had white or black chairs and they weren't nearly as comfy as these and Tony hadn't restrained me in any form.

He picked up a small needle connected to a tube.

"Alright, how about I stick this in your left hand, because... well, you know."

With that, Stark walked over to my left side, carefully sliding the needle into my arm. I stared on, not even feeling a thing. I was trained not to.

"Okay," he mumbled. We waited for a few seconds, and I had closed my eyes in case I'd snap with them open.

Then, I felt him pull out the needle, and my eyes fluttered open.

He handed me a cloth.

"To stop the bleeding."

I smirked at him, carefully dabbing the cloth on a small drop of blood forming on my arm. I wiped it over a few times, and then handed him the cloth back.

"Okay," he said again. "That's about it for today. I'll go easy on your powers tomorrow, but I see you can already do some things with your power-arm. I'll run some stuff on these samples and we'll see some results in about... 9 hours."

I glanced at him questioningly. "Wouldn't you be asleep by then?"

He gazed back, looking a bit... flustered. Wow. "I don't sleep much."

We both stayed silent after that, and I filed out of the lab, leaving Tony behind. I made my way to the level my room was on, and saw Steve and Bucky, still lounging in their same spots, books in hands.

Steve's eyes shot up when I sat down.

"Hey," he said, getting a bookmark and closing his book. "How'd it go?"

"Not too bad," I replied, leaning backwards. "Didn't hurt. I also met this girl called... Pepper."

"Oh," Steve replied. "Yeah, she's nice. You'll like her."

I smiled a bit into the distance. "So are we doing anything this afternoon?"

Steve frowned. "Last time we did something, someone got Bucky's arm real good."

I glanced over at said person. He was eyeing us both now, and I could tell he was silently rooting for Steve, most likely.

"Okay," I said carefully, putting my hands up defensively. "I'll go by myself then."

"You shouldn't," Bucky entered the conversation.

I raised an eyebrow. "And why not?"

He persistently shook his head. "There's HYDRA agents everywhere."

My smile dropped. So it was about HYDRA then.

Just. Great.

"I've been off HYDRA's radar for four years now," I countered. "I should be fine going out for just a bit."

"Where are you going, anyway? You better not be looking for trouble," Steve said, his frown deepening a bit. Typical Steve.

I paused dramatically, but eventually gave up, knowing we'd stay here forever.

Damn us all being stubborn as hell. No wonder we've stuck together for so long.

"I want to go to see my old home."

Before I could blink (again), Bucky had shot up and tackled me. I screamed in protest. Steve had gotten up as well, knowing something had set the Winter Soldier off.

Damn it. Damn it. Damn it.

"What the hell?!" I yelled, trying to snake out of his iron grip. Well, screw that idea.

"We are not going there," he emphasised every word with venom. "Ever."

Steve had taken the job to unpin Bucky from me, as I was starting to defensively form spikes on my limbs (involuntarily). Bucky was glaring at me now.

What the shit did you do now, Charlotte? DID you actually do anything?!

"Buck," Steve began cautiously. "Why shouldn't we go there?"

He gave a broken look to Steve. "I've already gone there."

"What? When?" The questions flooded out of me, and Bucky was clenching and unclenching his metal fist. Thank god my neck wasn't there right now.

He was obviously struggling in between telling us or not. Eventually, he hunched his shoulders in defeat.

"Last night..."

I raised an eyebrow. He went out to Brooklyn to see his old house last night?! Sorry - what?!

Steve stared at him, waiting for him to evaluate. He had sat down on the floor with us by now.

Bucky sighed again.

"After I pinned Charlotte to sleep, I disabled security systems, and ran to Brooklyn."

The entire statement winded me like a punch to the stomach. Pinned me to sleep?!

"What do you mean, you ran to Brooklyn?!" I asked, a bit softer now. I was trying to avoid the statement he'd mentioned before his little encounter with security systems.

"I put on some shoes, and ran through the streets 'til I found Brooklyn," he replied, as if it were as simple as A,B,C.

Steve put his head in his hands, massaging his temples. I was tempted to do the same, but I've been taught to deal with this shit.

He glanced up at Bucky again.

"You pinned Charlotte to sleep," he began, sending me a look meaning 'what the hell?!'. "Disabled Stark Tower's security systems, then ran through the streets of New York until you found Brooklyn?"

"Well," Bucky conceded. "I already knew the way to Brooklyn."

"Buck," Steve groaned, shifting to lie on the floor. "HYDRA could've found you!"

"I'm trained for that stuff."

"So am I," I replied, trying not to glare at my broken, 90-something-year-old best friend. Well, I'm sure he didn't think the same of me as 'friend', probably more like 'random asshole', but hey, who's counting?

They both shot me a deadpan look. Well, I know who I can call old-fashioned...

"Bucky, next time just let one of us know when you feel like running to Brooklyn," Steve murmured, not even bothering to try and continue on with this version of Bucky. I mean, basically no one can!

Bucky just nodded numbly, then shot me another look. I shot him a look that said 'we need to talk', and then went to my room.

This version of Bucky sure is something.. different.
