Right Here All Along
Chapter 13
"Tell me Bella? What happened?" Edward snapped.
"Edward-I I don't know what…" I started, he cut me off.
"Damn it Bella! I'm not stupid! I know I was mean to you and being your soft hearted self, I know you didn't have sex with anyone after we broke up, not until Emmett." He snapped.
"Edward, I-I was alone. I couldn't tell anyone. Jasper probably would have beat the shit out of you. No one knows except Emmett and your dad." I broke into tears. "I knew you wouldn't want anything to do with the baby, you made it clear that your schooling and sex were all that was important to you." I spat.
"I might have been an ass, but I wouldn't have made you go through that." He huffed.
"Yeah, right. Tell yourself that now! But back then, you would have. You're a different person now. I regret doing it at times, but I know I had to go to college, I couldn't have a baby, especially one that could've been preventive if you'd used protection with me." I was crying uncontrollably when Carlisle walked in.
"I see you've found out." Carlisle sighed and rubbed my back. "I'm disappointed you did this to her after she's just given birth." Carlisle frowned at Edward.
"I wasn't planning on it dad. I was actually going to let it go. But when Emmett gave me a sad look after the baby was born, I knew what she'd mumbled during birth was true. And then Emmett asked me to sit with her while he stayed with Kieran. Well she talks in her sleep and kept apologizing for what happened. So I knew it really was true." He ran his hands through his hair.
"OK, you've found out. I don't mean to be rude, but this is no time to discuss this. It can be done later." Carlisle informed.
Kieran and I were home resting one afternoon when there was a knock on the door.
I carried him over and looked through, Edward.
I opened the door and there with a huge potted plant of purple hyacinth was Edward.
"What are these for?" I asked.
"For saying I'm sorry for being an ass." He smiled.
"Come in Edward." I motioned for him and he sat the plant inside the door.
"May I hold my nephew?" he asked and I smiled.
"Edward, I'm so sorry for you finding out the way you did." I shook my head.
"Bella, it's OK, I went home and thought about it, I wouldn't have been ready and probably would've been an even bigger ass to you. I'm just mad at myself now for acting like that and for you going through it alone and holding it in all these years." He smiled sadly.
"I actually did OK. I threw myself into my school work, it helped me cope." I shrugged.
"Well, let's put it behind us and worry about the future of the cutie." He smiled as he snuggled Kieran.
We talked for a few hours, not even realizing the time until Emmett home.
"Hey babe." He kissed my head and broke into a huge smile when he saw Edward rocking Kieran, about ready to fall asleep.
"Hey and yes I got pictures. Want to just order out since I forgot and it's late?" I smiled up at him.
"Yeah sounds good. I'll grab Kieran and put him in bed, you two figure out what we're eating." Emmett smiled and headed upstairs.
Having told Edward about everything several weeks ago has made things between all of us easier. We've even told Charlotte, so she and Edward didn't have any secrets.
"Bella I'm sorry he was an ass." Charlotte punched Edward in the arm.
Charlotte and I got along great, I loved when she was in town and you could see it made Edward happier as well. I have a feeling he might propose at Christmas.
We went out and double dated with them and Emmett most importantly had his brother back and they got along great together, once again.
