percyjacksonfan135: Freya likes getting herself in danger.

Chapter Eighty Three: Rome and Rescue Missions

Leo landed us in a park in the middle of Rome. "We're outside the Tomb of Scipios," Jason said. "Nina meet us back here after you save Apollo."

"Someone should go with her," Percy said.

"Percy we talked about this," I groaned. "If anyone comes with me, he'll kill Apollo before I even have the chance to save him. I need to do this by myself."

Percy looked conflicted for a moment before pulling me into a tight hug. "Ti amo, sorellina. Please stay safe."

"I'm older, fratellino," I smirked. "I'll always come home. Ti amo troppo."

I grabbed my bag. It had a change of clothes for Apollo, a jar of Greek fire, nectar, and ambrosia. I could only hope I wasn't too late to save Apollo. I whistled and a white blur immediately appeared by my side.

Another quest? my pegasus mentally asked me. I nodded grimly and swung my leg over Silvermist's back. She jumped off the ship and started walking. I closed my eyes, hoping a vision telling me where Apollo was would come to me.

"Hello again, poco semidea."

"Otus," I growled. "You speak Italian?"

"Of course, principessa del mare. You are searching for your amato, are you not?"

"Where's Apollo?" I snapped. "And how are you in my head?"

A deep chuckle filled my mind. "There is an old warehouse a few blocks down from the Colosseum. It is abandoned and easy to find. You will find your amato and me in there."

Blinking back tears, I opened my eyes. "I'm coming for you, Apollo," I whispered softly. "C'mon, Sil. Take me to the Colosseum." Silvermist began trotting along the sidewalks. Thank the gods for the mist. The mortals didn't even notice us. I zoned out as Silvermist led me to my destination. Before I knew it, we were outside the Colosseum. "This is where I go by myself," I murmured. I slid off Silvermist's back and ran my fingers through her hair. "See you later hopefully, girl."

I fixed the straps of my bag and continued on foot. Otus was right. The empty warehouse was easy to find. Trying the door first, I realised it was locked. I went to a window and picked up a rock. Slamming the rock through the glass, I managed to break the window so I could climb through. I climbed through and jumped down, landing on my hands and knees. I grimaced, feeling the glass enter my palms. I quickly wiped the excess glass off my hands to prevent anymore glass from entering the shallow cuts.

"Hello?" I called. "Is anyone there?" I didn't receive an answer. I pulled my wand out and lit the tip. I cringed when my grip made the glass dig deeper into my palms. I gasped when I saw Apollo chained to the wall in the corner of the room. There was nothing here except for us. I quickly strapped my wand back to my forearm and ran towards Apollo. I knelt down in front of him and lifted his chin.

Apollo's tan skin was paler than the moon. His cheeks were sallow from lack of food, and his beautiful blue eyes were bloodshot. Apollo's golden hair was covered in both golden ichor and red blood. Most of the ichor was dried and made Apollo's hair stick to his forehead. The blood was still fresh. I pulled out my canteen of nectar and poured it on the gash running from Apollo's temple, over his eyelid and nose, and ending at the base of his right ear. It sealed over, leaving an ugly, jagged scar.

"Apollo, can you hear me?"

"Nina?" he asked. "Is that really you?"

"Yes, 'Pollo. It's me. We need to get you out of here before Otus comes back."

"Too late," a deep voice laughed. "Is this yours, Semidea?"

I flipped around at the sound of the giant. "Otus," I growled. My eyes widened when I saw what, or who, he was holding.

"Is this my imagination?" Apollo groaned out. His eyes were glazed over as he stared at his daughter. "Freya?"

"Daddy!" Freya cried, kicking her legs. She was struggling to get out of Otus' grasp. "Mommy, help me!" Otus grinned and squeezed Freya harder. A gleam appeared in Freya's eyes. She bent her neck and bit into the giant's hand. Otus grunted and dropped Freya. I was up in a flash and ran to catch my daughter. She landed safely in my arms. I backed up to stand in front of Apollo. I ushered Freya behind me and pulled out my knife.

"Cut Daddy loose," I whispered to Freya before turning back around. "Come at me, Otus!" I pulled out my wand and shot a stunning hex at my enemy. It bounced off Otus' hide-like skin, but it gave the required effect. I had Otus' full attention.

I wasn't expecting the giant bow Otus pulled off his back. He drew a huge arrow and fired at me. I ducked under it and ran forwards. I grabbed a random charm on my bracelet. 'Please help me,' I thought. I was shocked when an ice trident formed in my hands. I looked down at the charm I had grabbed, the one for food. That didn't make any sense.

Aim true, I kori mou.

"Dad," I gasped. I gripped the trident like a javelin. Pulling my arm back and launching the ice, I let it fly through the air. The ice was glowing blue. Otus' eyes widened when he saw the trident flying towards him. He tried to move to the left, but the trident just changed direction to hit him. It embedded itself in Otus' chest, right where his heart was. He was enveloped in blue light before he crumbled to dust.

Before he died, the giant let one last arrow fly towards me. It soared right past me. Right towards Apollo and Freya. I turned to watch. Apollo was struggling to get up and protect Freya. I rushed forward to try and help. Freya moved in front of her father and held up her hands. A pure white shield made of light erected itself between Apollo and Freya and the arrow. The light dissolved the arrow.

I sprinted over to Freya and Apollo. Freya blinked groggily up at me when I reached her. "Here's your knife, Mommy," she yawned. I took my knife back and sheathed it. Freya yawned again before falling forwards, completely asleep. I caught her and picked her up, moving her to my right hip.

"Can you stand up?" I asked Apollo softly. Apollo struggled to push himself up into a sitting position, but his arms gave out. "It's okay, I can mist travel us from here." Apollo nodded and wrapped his arms around my waist. The three of us disappeared into the moisture in the air.

We reappeared in the infirmary. I helped Apollo lie down on the bed before putting Freya in one of the chairs. I threw a blanket over her. "Where does it hurt the most?" I asked.

"Everywhere," Apollo groaned. This would be a challenge. I sat down on the side of the bed. I placed a hand on Apollo's forehead.

"You're burning up." I spoon fed Apollo some ambrosia to bring down his fever. I looked down at Apollo's chest. Red blood with a hint of gold was seeping into his shirt. I pulled out Mov and used it to cut off his shirt. The gash in his stomach was huge. "Will too much ambrosia and nectar burn you up?" I asked nervously. "It looks like your more mortal than god now."

Apollo shook his head slowly. "It'll help me recover faster. The godly food will restore my immortality." I sighed in relief and poured the rest of my canteen of nectar on Apollo's wound. It instantly healed. A thick, white scar was left on his skin.

"How are your legs?" I asked.

"They're fine. Just a few scratches. You're hurt too." Apollo took my hands, frowning. Closing his eyes, he held his right hand over my bloodied palms. His hand glowed golden. I gasped as I felt the glass in my hands disappear and the scratches close up. All of the color that had returned to Apollo disappeared.

"Sleep," I ordered.

"Only if you go to sleep with me," I retorted. I smiled and rolled my eyes fondly. I picked up Freya and put her on the bed next to Apollo. Waving my wand, I expanded the bed. I climbed in, wrapping my arms around Freya and pulling her to my chest. Apollo threw one of his arms half hazardly over my waist.

I was about to close my eyes when the sun glared into them. "Who's been rising and setting the sun?"

"Hmm?" Apollo hummed. "Oh, Artemis and Hermes are probably taking turns. They're the only ones I let drive it on my days off." I nodded my head before laying it down on the pillow. I decided to watch my boyfriend and daughter sleep. I slowly felt myself fading into a dreamless sleep.

I woke up to shouts as seven demigods made there way into the room. Freya and I quickly sat up. Apollo was still completely passed out. I rested my hand on his forehead to see his fever had gone down. He was still pale, but he had a nice golden blush to his cheeks. That was good. It meant the ichor in his body was replacing the blood.

I looked at the six demigods. Annabeth was bloodied and had bubble wrap wrapped around her ankle. I smiled when I noticed Hazel moving an extremely pale Nico to the other bed. I could count his ribs through his ripped shirt.

"Where's Uncle Percy and Aunt Lavender?" Freya frowned.

My eyes widened. They were missing. I then noticed the tears pouring down Piper, Hazel, and Annabeth's face. Annabeth collapsed into a chair. "I'm so sorry, Nina," she sobbed. "It was all my fault."

"Where's my brother and best friend?" I said.

"Tartarus," Leo said, looking at his feet.

"At least that's where they'll be in nine days," Jason sighed. "They fell into the pit."

"No," I whispered, falling back into the soft mattress. Freya started crying and buried her face in my chest.

"At least Lord Apollo is safe," Frank sighed, gesturing to the blond god sleeping on the bed beside me. "I didn't know gods slept." I chuckled weakly. I'll save you, Fratellino, Lav.
