Broken

Chapter 22

"Ladies and gentleman, I present to you for the first time Mr. And Mrs. Edward Cullen!" the DJ announced as Edward and I walked into the reception tent.

This day has been wonderful.

Put together by our family and friends, over a year in the making.

It took forever to finalize my divorce since James was pretty much a vegetable. His mom tried to block everything the lawyers said I was entitled to.

Our pre-nup had been iron clad, which didn't bother me, I was young and oh so stupid. Not thinking I would outlive either of them, I was named as 100% benefactor to the company, stocks and money.

I still didn't want it, but I decided to use it to help, so I sold the company to the employees and used the money and stocks to open an abused woman's home.

I bought and old hotel and converted it into apartments.

One section was for women and their children and the other for single women.

It had a huge privacy gate with a code and only the residents were allowed inside. All deliveries were dropped off at the office, which was manned 24/7, we had security cameras and alarms everywhere and each room was equipped with its own security system, the rooms were fully furnished and I had an entire section dedicated to clothes, toys and such since most families left with what was on their backs. I tried to offer them the basic comforts of home and they were allowed to stay up to six months to get on their feet.

I had lawyers on retainer for me who helped these women file for divorce, get some money and leave to start over and most of the lawyers did it pro-bono just to get the connection and free advertising with me.

At least the horrible money had gone to good use. I had 15 families and 40 single women at most times. Very few went back to their husbands, which made me feel even better.

"What's got you so preoccupied beautiful?" Edward kissed my temple.

"Just thinking of this past year. Even the past two and a half years and everything we've/I've been through. I'm glad it turned out the way it did and that we've been able to work through all my issues and become one super couple." I smiled.

"Super couple?" he smiled.

"Yeah. You're this great doctor who has helped me with my concept and gathered doctors and nurses to volunteer their time and service for these women and children who have nothing. And your family has been awesome in this endeavor too." I put my head on his shoulder.

"I love you Bella." He kissed me again as we got ready for our first dance as husband and wife.

"I love you Edward." I smiled as he spun me around the floor.

Tonight was going to be the real test.

I still hadn't made love with Edward. I hadn't been in the right place and then we decided since we've waited this long to just wait until our wedding night. It would make it all the more special.

The night went on and we danced, thanked everyone for coming and departed for our honeymoon.

Six days in the Florida Keys were just what the doctor ordered.

Edward was patient, loving and gentle, oh so gentle.

We didn't know it at that time, but we'd made our first child that night, the next 9 months were going to be a wild ride.
