A/n: Please don't kill me? 0-0
This is a long overdue update, and for that I apologise, but instead of giving you all some half ass excuse as to why this hasn't been updated MUCH sooner, I figured I'd try to make it up to you all by making this chapter as big as possible :)
Again I am sorry, next chapter should be up within the next week, though I won't make any promises for the sake of my own head.
Some of the dialogue used is from the Prisoner of Azkaban movie.
But I changed the lesson content from tea leaves to crystal ball readings.
- I don't own Harry Potter, only my OC -
Draco honestly wasn't expecting what took place that evening to even happen, he never would've thought that having an arranged marriage could actually have some advantages. He was to be the future brother-in-law to Viktor Krum.
THE fucking Viktor Krum!
And according to his Father, Draco would be doing his family good in the eyes of the dark lord, by marrying the daughter of another one of his most loyal followers. Hardly any of the Death Eaters even knew he would make his return soon, only his most loyal, which included his and Valerie's parents.
Valerie.
As soon as she came in those thick oak doors, he knew who she was.
Not just because she was the only female in the midst of an ALL MALE SCHOOL, Draco almost face palmed himself for even thinking that it couldn't have been her. His mother had already given him the run down on his future Wife.
Apparently she was raised in hiding, not only because of Viktor's ever rising success, fame and publicity. But because when the Dark Lord was 'still alive' Ivan Krum had made quite the number of enemies, and they all somehow managed to find Valerie and do some damage to her before she was found and the offender was killed onsite, no questions, no pleads, just the killing curse.
His mother had told him she was one of the most respectable upcoming Pure Blooded women around in this day and age, they were equal, if not higher than the Malfoy family in their Social Status. And he couldn't help but stare at her as she walked down the aisle made between the Slytherin and Ravenclaw tables. He thanked the gods above he was seated facing the aisle and not with his back to it, making the task of checking her out a lot less noticeable. Her blonde locks fell down her back in perfect curls under her fur beanie. Her hands were covered with black gloves and her midsection was wrapped in another fur shoulder wrap with a heavy above the knee jacket underneath. And her legs, god those legs, those legs went on for miles and then some.
Murmurs and whispers broke out once the school noticed a female walking with them, probably the fact that no one from Hogwarts actually knew who she was, safe from Dumbledore, Snape and himself.
It was sooner or later when he finally managed to catch her stare, which he couldn't break out of for the life of him. Her nearly ice white eyes had an even colder gaze, it almost seemed as if she was in a trance herself as it took her brother practically dragging her away from the teachers table to his, and the staring contest was broken by Viktor standing in their view of each other.
All in all he could say the night was rather eventful, and to top it off he managed to subtly hint that he was to take her to the Yule Ball, she was practically his in every which way.
The following morning was like any other, he went through his usual routine of showering, getting dressed in his tailor-made school robes, but he did spend a little longer on his hair that morning before pocketing his wand and heading towards where he knew Valerie was staying. Preparing to knock on the door, he was startled but quickly schooled his features from showing his surprise at the figure who opened the door from the other side.
To say Draco was pissed may have been a slight understatement.
There standing in the doorway was a tall, shirtless Durmstrang student who's pants hung low on his very defined hips. They were both shocked however only one showed it.
"Dimitri!" A female voice broke through the reverie, "Have you seen my..."
Valerie came into view, trailing off of her sentence when she saw who was at the door.
Her hair was slightly mussed and she had this glow about her that Draco knew all too well. She was wearing a long button up shirt which came to just above her knees, showing off her toned legs. Taking note of the awkward situation, Dimitri hastily excused himself, pushing past Draco who was standing stock still.
"Oh, you can come in, I wasn't exactly expecting anyone this early."
You could say that again. Draco mentally sneered, watching her backside as she tried to tidy up her private common room. Deciding to test her he mulled over some questions in his head to get to know where she stood with her family.
"Does your parents know about your ways?" He questioned, his irritation hidden through the smooth tone of his voice.
Valerie immediately stopped picking things off of the floor, standing to her full height she turned to face him, her eyes ice cold, fixed in a hard glare on him.
"What did you just say to me?" She asked in a deadly calm tone.
Draco took notice of the dangerous tone in her voice and unconsciously stepped back slightly, his mind frantically searching for ways he could turn this around in his favor.
"Get. Out."
Valerie's patience had worn thin already. Who did he think he was to come in unannounced and demand answers of her? He didn't know what her and Dimitri had done, but from the rumors she had heard going around the tables last night in the Great Hall, she should be bloody questioning him!
Hmph, Man Whore.
She believed he had no right to question her of doing something he clearly is well acquainted with, and to even suggest that she had done it more than once! She was a virgin for fuck's sake! She is bound by a marriage contract, and being the 'Perfect Pure-blooded Mother' Caterina was, she went as far as enlisting that Valerie was to loose her 'Maiden Head' - her Mother's words, not her's - on the night of the Wedding.
"I-"
"Leave now or you will suffer!"
Not wanting to push his luck even more Draco turned and quickly fled down the corridors, frustration clouded his vision and he did not take notice of the petite figure of a certain Slytherin female coming in the opposite direction until he collided with her.
"Drakie! I've been looking everywhere for you! I've been so worried! Where have you been? I was lonely last night"
Out of all the Females in Slytherin, he just had to run into Pansy Parkinson. The bloody women had their whole fucking future planned out! Mentally cursing himself, Draco decided to ignore the question smirked coyly at her, hoping to appease her so she wouldn't start putting her pug nose in where it doesn't belong.
"I was a bit tired last night, how about we make up for it before breakfast?" He asked shamelessly.
Pansy giggled in a way she guessed was seductive, "Sure Drakie-poo."
Deciding to not pull her up for the nickname he hurriedly tugged on her arm and pulled her into the nearest broom closet with him.
If Valerie can have some fun, why can't I?
Valerie was one hell of a woman, Blaise Zabini was sure of that. Though he was concerned as to her sudden mood change the previous night at dinner, after he questioned her as to how her brother acted around her. Her eyes had become unfocused as she processed the question at hand, though her never got an answer from her.
Looking in his mirror he fastened his Green tie around his neck before setting off to the great hall in hopes of continuing the conversation they indulged in last night.
Blaise changed his direction and began to walk towards where he knew the Durmstrang wizards and witch were staying whilst the Tournament took place. Coming to a another stone wall hall, he continued through it, trying to determine which door was her own.
Light filtered into the damp underground passageway through an open door up ahead. Gingerly he peered in, seeing her sitting on the couch with her elbows on her knees, her chin cupped in her hands.
Sensing the presence, Valerie inclined her head to see him standing in the open door way.
"May I come in?"
Valerie only hummed in approval before Blaise moved to stand in front of her, "Valerie? Listen I am sorry if I said something last-"
"You did nothing," She cut him off, speaking in a whisper. Her eyes remained locked on the floor as he crouched down before her, coming into her line of sight. Pressing his fingertips to her cheek lightly his brows pulled together in a frown, "Then what is troubling you?"
Noticing how weak she sounded she closed up, putting the walls up around herself, "Nothing."
Blaise got the hint that she didn't wish to answer, and as much as he wanted to really know what was causing her distress, he decided to change the topic.
"Well, since I'm here, allow me to escort you to breakfast in the great hall?" He questioned, giving her the choice.
Looking up at him she nodded her consent, "Yeah, that would be great actually."
Smiling, Blaise stood to his full height. "Why don't you go get changed? I will be waiting here."
Valerie just stood and walked towards what he was guessing to be her room, and he couldn't help but take notice of her long legs before her door shut behind her.
She soon came out wearing a black pencil skirt with a long sleeved lace cropped shirt, showcasing her hourglass figure and exposing a band of her tanned flesh around her midsection.
Holding his arm out to her, she politely accepted it whilst giving him a small smile as they set off for the great hall.
They arrived during the latter half of the breakfast, and because of that, their entrance was watched by most, if not all of the school. Leading Valerie over to the Slytherin table to where they ate dinner last night. Sitting next to her again, he took notice of the fact that both Pansy and Draco were yet to arrive, which was odd for Pansy, normally she was here from the beginning until the end of breakfast hoping to get into someone's pants.
Mentally slapping himself for his stupidity, Blaise began piling his plate with food.
Of course I know what they're doing
Looking to the woman beside of him, Blaise stared at her curiously, noting how her bottom lip was fuller than her top one, and the light mole she had on her cheek.
"Come รจ il vostro soggiorno qui fino ad ora?" He asked, speaking in Italian like the previous night, knowing that not many could actually understand what he was saying.
Not even hesitating or stopping to actually think she let out monotonous, "Satisfactory," before eating her breakfast, which he noticed wasn't exactly much at all.
"Is that all you shall be eating? Shouldn't you eat a bit more?"
"I normally don't eat at all for breakfast, and your concern is not welcome nor needed, I can take care of myself," Valerie hissed out before walking back out of the hall. Taking the staircase back down to the dungeons, Valerie was too busy having a mental rant to notice the approach of two people.
Colliding into what she thought was a wall, she groaned aloud taking in her surroundings, she realised her wall wasn't stone cold, but warm and comforting?
Looking up she glared at one of the last people she wanted to see this morning.
Draco was surprised, he didn't exactly know why, he didn't exactly expect her to be anywhere else, or here. He soon became aware of his hands resting on her hips longer than necessary after he helped her regain her balance.
A hand on his shoulder quickly darkened his expression. Now she can finally realize she's not the only one who can have a good time.
"Drakie? Who's this?" Pansy made her way from behind him to stand at his side, her hand pressed possessively against his chest. Draco mentally snorted. I'm sure if anyone was in this position they would choose Valerie over Pansy. Unless they were blind and deaf of course, but that may happen after they see her pug face and hear her voice, like nails on a chalkboard that one. Draco shuddered at the thought.
Taking in the expression on Draco's face, Valerie stepped in. "Allow me to introduce myself, Valerie Krum, daughter of Ivan Krum and Katerina Tanev." She didn't bother giving her the opportunity to shake her hand, or kiss her cheeks like most pureblood women were taught to, she wasn't going near the walking std, she'd probably had more pricks than a second hand dartboard.
"P-Parkinson, Pansy Parkinson," Pansy stuttered, trying to cover up the slight quiver in her voice. She didn't exactly know who this girl was, but she had heard of her parents and their names were enough to plant fear in her being.
Smirking at the obvious fear, Valerie chuckled darkly, "Well if you'll excuse me, I have places to be." Slipped to the side of the pair, continuing on her walk to her first class.
Draco was confused, he thought for sure that she would blow a fuse at seeing him with another women. Aren't women jealous of others around their men?
Coming out of his thoughts he headed up to the Great Hall in hopes of still making it in time to actually eat something, not caring for the slag standing in shock behind him.
It didn't take long to get to the Great Hall without having to listen to Pansy constantly talking, she would talk about anything and anyone for the sake of talking. Taking a seat next to Blaise he noticed that Viktor wasn't anywhere in sight. Of course he noticed his lack of presence, who wouldn't?
"He was here, went after Valerie once I told him she wasn't here anymore."
How the hell did Blaise know who he was looking for? Was it really that obvious. Blaise's mind however, was spinning with thoughts as to why Valerie shut out his concern for her. He thought he was being polite. He didn't think anyone else would have that reaction on his thoughts, so why did she react the way she did?
Ignoring Blaise's comment on Viktor's where abouts, Draco changed the subject. "What class do you have first?"
Swallowing Blaise replied, "Divination with Trelawney, you?"
"The same."
The rest of breakfast was spent in silence, Theo soon came and sat next to Crabbe and Goyle who were across from them, but any conversation to that side of the table was near impossible with those pigs eating how they did.
The trio soon fled the hall, leaving Crabbe and Goyle behind as they headed for their first class on the seventh floor.
Climbing up the moving staircase they soon opened the door of the Northern Tower, Theo entered first. Turning back and smirking at his mates, he quickly disappeared into the dimly lit room. Following behind, Draco and Blaise soon knew what was behind Theo's smirk.
Theo had decided to take it upon himself to be seated next to Valerie. Draco's temper flared. Theo was one of the few he had told last night after escorting Valerie to her room about the contract. Blaise was also told. The pair took the empty seats behind them, and noticed that this class was made of mostly Slytherins and a few Durmstrang students.
Once everyone was seated, Sybill Trelawney began the speech she gave every year to her students.
"Welcome, my children. In this room, you shall explore the noble art of Divination! In this room, you shall discover if you possess the sight-" Draco snickered when she walked into a table. Yeah, some sight she has.
"Hello, I am Professor Trelawney, and together we shall cast ourselves into the future!"
Valerie was excited, all though she did not show it on her face, she couldn't wait, Divination was her favourite, and only those close to her, which really was only her immediate family and her grandparents knew why.
"Today we will begin the year with some predictions, now, if you will all turn to your partner and on the center of the table there is the Orb, the methods of reading are in your textbooks, pages fifty-three," Trelawney instructed.
"Why did we ever take this class?" Theo groaned, regretting choosing this subject already. The only thing keeping him here his gorgeous partner to his left.
Ignoring him, Valerie took out her textbook and began reading the instructions, only skimming them before slamming the book shut.
"Because it's the only one that anyone can pass without doing any bloody work!" Blaise replied from behind Valerie.
Draco, however did not listen to the pair, his attention was on Valerie, who was staring at 'the Orb' as the seers call it. Her face was blank, but somehow she looked light headed and frail.
"Valerie?"
Draco's questioning tone caught Blaise and Theo's attention and they too became wary and concerned when she appeared to not have heard them.
"Valerie? Are you alright?"
Valerie just kept staring intently at the crystal ball, her eyes glassed over and moving. Blaise moved out of his seat to stand behind her, trying to see what she was seeing, even though he knew he wouldn't. Meanwhile Theo placed his hand on her shoulder, steadying her as she leant over to the side.
"Valerie?! Can you hear me?!" Theo asked, more forcefully than the other times he tried to get her aware of him and away from the crystal ball.
Continuing to stare into it, she simply smiled. "I see death. One lives."
Shocked, all three of the men stood there, before Blaise left to go get Trelawney's help, any other teacher would have been great, but she was better than nothing.
Draco was now in Blaise's place, standing to her side, trying to get her attention along with Theo. It didn't take long, and Blaise soon appeared with Trelawney behind him. The whole class now was watching the ordeal, but couldn't see anything due to the three men and teacher surrounding her.
Valerie, however, snapped out of it just as Blaise arrived back in front of her. Valerie simply looked past the three and stared Trelawney in the eye.
"It's inevitable."
Trelawney furrowed her brows in concentration, whilst Draco, Blaise and Theo all looked confused at the cryptic words.
Shaking out of their holds, she looked around her, "Please don't touch me." The now monotonous tone of her voice made them all drop their hands. And Valerie fled from the classroom, leaving her belongings amongst the bewildered class.
Trelawney's face was then overcome with excitement, "Oh! Another Seer! How wonderful!"
Draco paled hearing this, I'm to marry a seer?
