A/N: Sorry for the delay again. But I was trying to write ahead of my updates so if I am too busy to write, like I have been lately (again sorry!) I hope to be able to post a chapter quickly instead of having to try and squeeze in a writing session and rush it trying to get it out there. I really should have thought of this earlier. Aha... Once again all translations are done by google translate, I'm sorry if they're way off, completely wrong or are offensive.

WARNING - mentions of self harm and attempted suicide in this chapter.

Disclaimer: don't own anything but Valerie (and her parents?) I actually don't know who Viktor's parents are so I guess I made them up in a way? I'm going to stop now...

R&R, I know I'm a shit author with my updates but it would be nice.. :/ :(

-o0o-

It three days had passed since the incident. The students who were in Trelawney's class had taken it upon themselves to share the story with their friends and it had not taken long before it spread like a wildfire amongst the rest of the school, including the Professors.

Trelawney was the first of the Professors to know, having been to over the moon with excitement over meeting another seer made her fail in telling the headmaster of what had taken place in her class, Snape was the first to find out. Draco thought it to be the fact that most of Trelawney's class was made up of gossiping Slytherins that, in most circumstances, couldn't keep their mouths shut. It was only an hour or two after the incident had taken place that Snape had stood up from the Professor's table in the Great Hall, and made a hasty exit, his black robes billowing behind him with Igor KarKaroff at his side, both wearing cold masks of indifference.

Draco knew it was then when Snape had found out, considering he practically dragged Draco into his office after a majority of the Slytherin students had retired to their dorm rooms for the night.

As soon as the door had been firmly shut behind Snape after he had all but thrown Draco into the room, he placed silencing charms around the office, after securing the door locked with another flick of his wrist.

"What the bloody hell was that for?" Draco snarled, straightening out his robes.

Snape didn't say anything, moving behind his desk to sit in the chair behind it before making a gesture for Draco to sit in one of the chairs in front of it.

"Did you know?" Snape questioned, his black eyes staring at Draco.

Taking a guess on what he was talking about Draco spoke, "That my betrothed is a Seer? Should I have known?"

Snape continued staring at Draco. He had picked up on the sneer in his God Child's voice, "Watch your tone with me. Do you know what she truly is? How powerful she is?"

Draco didn't have an answer so merely stayed silent, confusion washed over his face as to what he meant by what she is, she was a Seer was she not? I thought we already established this with Trelawney.

"The Krum family is one of the most powerful Pureblooded families around in this day and age, their blood going far more further back than The Founders-"

"That's not possible, The Founders founded magic, that's why they're called The Founders," Draco cut in, talking in a slow tone as if to confront Snape on what Draco thought to be a mistake in the History of magic.

Snape was not happy with the interruption and glared at Draco, " It is possible you dimwitted fool, listen instead of cutting me off and you may know just what you're getting into with this marriage."

Draco huffed, glaring back until he couldn't handle his God Father's cold stare any longer, begrudgingly sitting back in his chair in defeat.

"As I was saying," Snape continued, "The Krums were the first Wizarding family to ever exist. However having no knowledge of what they were, and what they're magic was, they didn't learn to control it. They were masters of windless magic, they were born with magic thrumming through their veins, they did not have to wait in anticipation for the months leading to their eleventh year for their magic to make an appearance."

"That's a crock of shit, there's no history of them. They're just like any other Pureblooded family-"

"Merlin, would you stop interrupting, they were before the founders! The first piece of history recorded was of the founders because the founders knew what they had! The Krums all ended up killing themselves," Snape finished in barely a whisper.

Draco's face paled at this knowledge.

"Their magical cores all exploded, ate away at themselves, killing them from the inside out. All it took was for one of them to use too much, their core would break open, and as they had no control over their magic, it all escaped, the victims feeling like their was a gaping hole in their chest, like something was missing, and something was. But they didn't know that. So when one of their family was writhing in pain on their deathbed, another would use too much trying to ease their pain and only bring themselves to the same fate and so continued."

"But they must have lived in somehow," Draco stated, "They're clearly here today."

Snape seemed to not be angered by this interruption, it was better than the past ones from the Student's mouth.

"Valerie's ancestors, from her Father's side, as you know as the Krums, seeked help, fearful as to what was becoming of their family. Several used their magic to try and find something to help but used too much, and passed on. A woman from a neighbouring village had heard of the numerous deaths caused by unknown reasons and came to the Krums aid, claiming she could help them, she was like them but could control hers. However she failed to tell the Krums that she was a seer. She helped them learn control."

Draco ran a hand through his hair, letting out a breath he didn't realise he had been holding.

"She also failed to share the fact that she was immortal."

If anything, Draco's reaction was not one he had anticipated. Draco had started to laugh, a mix between crazed, amused and disbelief filled laugh, echoing off the stone walls and filling the eerie silence which was Snape's intended reaction of Draco.

"She is your future wife's mother."

That shut him up.

Draco's laughter was cut off when he realised what his Professor had said, replaced by a look of shock.

"Her father is immortal too," Snape added, hiding his amusement at Draco's reaction under a cool facade. He thought now was as good a time as any, although he wouldn't admit he also wanted to see the young man's reaction to that piece of information as well.

Draco's jaw had slackened, much to Snape's amusement, before opening and closing as he tried to form a coherent sentence.

"Valerie's father was one of the men who were dying when her mother arrived to help, he was the leader of the village and to repay her, he let her reside in his village whenever she wanted. But she left, however and fled back to her village after teaching them how to control their magic and how to teach their future descendants. Eventually she returned, visited often and he fell in love with her and she with him, they were wed and Viktor was born, Valerie following."

"So what am I getting into with this marriage?" Draco questioned hesitantly.

Snape was unsure how to go about answering that question, "It is common knowledge within the death eaters, that Valerie," Snape hesitated, "Is the Dark Lord's most valued follower."

The look on Draco's face was enough to almost make Snape laugh had the situation not been so serious and he not been Severus Snape.

Sighing Snape continued, "He treats her as an equal, practically follows her, he worships the ground she walks on."

"T-that's not possible-"

"She attended Hogwarts years ago with one, Tom Marvolo Riddle, Junior to be precise. And I think it's safe to say that even the most malicious man can love." Snape cut the stuttering boy off.

"You mean to say that she and the Dark Lord," Draco paused, he couldn't even fathom the idea of it being true.

"He loves her, she loves him."

Draco was dragged out of his memory of the night after the incident by the sound of the wooden bench he was sitting on creaking with the weight of a person sitting down beside him. He saw Viktor, Viktor, placing food on his plate before looking at him, arching an eyebrow at his stare.

"Good Morning," Viktor spoke, his voice still thick with sleep and his accent.

But as soon as the words had left his mouth, he had turned before preparing another plate and sauntering towards the open entrance of the Great Hall, nodding at someone to follow him out.

That someone was Dimitri. Who had his own plate of food.

Draco had grown suspicious over these past three days. Valerie had not made an appearance at all. It was almost as if she had dropped of the face of the earth. he had wanted to go about the right way with confronting her, to avoid her anger like when he pointed out the fact that he knew Valerie and Dimitri were sleeping together. But at the same time, he just wanted to question her, ask her why nobody but the death eaters knew about her, but none spoke of her, ask her of her past, and he wanted her.

She was powerful.

She was to be his.

Draco gave into the urge to follow as to where Viktor was going and followed behind him and Dimitri at a safe distance, and after a few turns down different corridors, he knew where they were going.

The pair came to a halt at Valerie's door, before pulling out their wands and holding the tip against the oak. It soon swung open, revealing a looming darkness and with a quick and quietly casted lumos, they stepped in, closing the door behind them.

As soon as the two Durmstrang students had entered, Draco hastily made his way towards the door, trying to hear what was going in on the inside. He could make out the sound of pacing and soft tones of voice before the room on the other side of the door fell silent.

Draco mentally cursed himself before seeing no more reason to be here, the fact that he could no longer hear as to what was going on thanks to what he could only assume was due to silencing charms and fled back to the Slytherin common room, in hopes of catching Pansy before she went to bed.

X

It had been three days since his sister's secret had been exposed to the school of Hogwarts, and also some students of Beauxbatons who had come for the tournament. Durmstrang didn't know about her abilities per say, but the group of students that had come with from the school already knew, but were sworn to secrecy through an Unbreakable Vow. There was only one of the students outside of the Krum family that was sworn to secrecy, though not through a vow. That person was Viktor's most trusted companion, a friend if you will. Dimitri Soldat.

Dimitri was his sister's biggest confidant, he helped her through her visions most of the time, he had them too. Sometimes he could pick up on small signs or symptoms coming before a vision, whether it be one of hers or one of his, and be able to prepare for the onslaught of mental exhaustion.

He would normally track Valerie down, bring her to her room or his, and sit facing each other, within a ring of candles. The candles weren't there to help with the process, but rather form a protective circle around the pair whilst they were in their weakest and most vulnerable state. Physically, mentally and emotionally. Sometimes they would have joint visions and use skin contact to stay grounded to the real surrounding world when they were both under the influence. Other times when only one of the two were powerless to the inevitable vision, the other would coax them through it with encouraging words and sweet nothings.

Viktor's mother seemed to notice than Valerie's visions were much worse than her own, and brought it to the attention of her son and husband, not telling her daughter in fear that her emotions may have made it worse.

She had tried to find a reason behind her daughter's pain, anything to break her free from her own self, even going as far as trying to get rid of her daughter's magic and there was no luck. She couldn't help her daughter, and that pained her for she was the reason her daughter had inherited such power. But she couldn't find it in herself to regret ever having Valerie or Viktor. Her son didn't inherit such abilities and for that she was thankful. She believed herself selfish to bring a child into this world and place such a curse on the babe, but she did not regret it, for she loved her daughter too much to end it then and there, to try save a very, very long immortal life filled with misery from her daughter.

Viktor had been bringing Valerie food every night since the incident, the first night he came alone, furious with the fact that the secret that they had kept for so long had been let out. But his anger dissipated with one glance at his younger sister. Her eyes were rimmed red and puffy, her cheeks stained with tears. She looked so fragile. Viktor wanted to ask her what she saw to have provoked such a reaction out of his sister, but at the same time knew he should not, for he knew his sister was not frightened easily and hardly ever showed weaknesses and it came to his knowledge that this must've been something terrifying to get this reaction from her.

Instead he comforted her, told her everything would be fine and that it was all okay. He wrapped her in his arms and sat with her, rocking her back and forth until she fell asleep like he always had. He would put her in her bed, tucking the thick russian furs around his sisters small frame before kissing her brow and leaving for the night. Dimitri would arrive in the morning with breakfast for both Valerie and himself, he would then leave for his classes when Viktor had finished his own and left Viktor to try and coax the vision out of his sister.

She refused to eat, and she was growing weaker by the day, trying to force herself into a vision. Dimitri had caught her the first time, and they had kept a close eye on her since.

"Val?" Dimitri called out to her, using the nickname only he and Viktor used for her. He walked further into her private common room, though she wasn't in sight.

"Valerie?" He called louder.

He walked further into the common room, towards the door leading to her bedroom, and heard the sound of a shower running. She must be in the shower.

Deciding just to wait for her, he pushed the door to her room open, and sat on the end of the unmade bed, running his hands over the silk sheets.

Lost in his thoughts, a muffled thump brought him out of his memories.

"Valerie? Are you alright?"

Getting no reply, Dimitri got up and walked to the bathroom door, rapping his knuckles against it. No reply. "Val, if you don't answer I'm coming in."

Silence was all he was met with.

His hand reached for the door handle but as soon as his skin made contact with the metal he leapt back, hissing in pain. He looked down at his hand, the skin of his palm raw and peeling.

"Shit." He swore under his breath before turning back to the door and banging on it loudly, "Valerie! Come on Val, come out of the bathroom!"

This went on for a while, he tried hexing the door down, casting spells at it so it would open, seeing as Valerie wouldn't do so herself. Eventually he decided to stop, and ran out of the room , trying to find help.

Skidding out of the room he ran down several corridors towards the Great Hall, where everyone would be during the morning before classes. He skidded into the hall, making a beeline for Professor Karkaroff at the staff table. Viktor, noticing that Dimitri was here and not with his sister got up from his seat, borderline running to his Headmaster.

Dimitri had told Karkaroff of the situation, and had stood from his seat, beckoning Snape to follow, Snape simply sneered back, putting aside his mild hate for the man and followed Karkaroff and Dimitri outside the hall with Viktor getting frustrated at staying out of the loop.

Noticing where they were going, Viktor's frustration grew along with his concern. They walked through Valerie's common room, moving through her bedroom to her bathroom door. Dimitri noticed the shower was still going, and his panic increased.

"Valerie! Otvorete tazi vrata se vednaga!" (Open this door now) They got the same answer that Dimitro did. Nothing. Nothing but the shower still running was heard. Dimitri noticed Karkaroff repeating his earlier actions of opening the door, and before Igor could grasp the door handle, Dimitri interfered.

"No! She's cast a hex on the door, I've already tried opening it," he held up his forgotten hand as evidence that he had in fact tried and the result of doing so.

Viktor was more confused now, his frustration long gone now due to his brotherly concern for his sister taking over. He didn't know what would cause something like this from his sister. Igor proceeded, along with Snape, casting many spells to try and get the door to open without causing any possible harm to Valerie, clearly she didn't want to be disturbed, but to go at such lengths? Viktor didn't know what had caused his sister to act like this.

Igor and Snape were getting irritated, what kind of spell could a student cast that a headmaster and professor not? Huffing in agitation and exhaustion Snape casted another spell that worked a little differently to all the rest. This one worked, the door handle glowed a vivid green before returning to its original cold metal.

Hesitantly reaching for it after seeing the effects of Dimitri's attempt, Igor's hand wrapped around the handle and turned it, before pushing the door open. Igor was meant with resistance, but not of any magic.

"Valerie?" He questioned softly, he hoped his thoughts weren't true as he pushed the door open with more force. There was a dragging noise behind the oak door, and as soon as he could fit through the opening door, he slid in, no one dared to follow except Viktor tried to, Snape's firm grip on his shoulder halted him in his movements.

"Viktor, Vzemi nametalo to," (Get her cloak) Viktor turned back and collected the thick black cloak from where it was hung over the back of her vanity chair.

Before Viktor could enter the bathroom, Igor's hand shot out from around the door, seemingly waiting for the clothing in his hand. And he passed it to him quickly as his frustration resurfaced as his questions went unanswered.

Igor could not believe the sight before him, Valerie was lying unconscious against the door naked. But that didn't phase the headmaster. Igor was struck with an overwhelming unknown emotion. Valerie was bleeding, her blood smeared across the white tiles of the bathroom. Her

wrists torn open in jagged lines, her wand lying on the ground next to her collapsed form. When his hand felt the soft fabric of the cloak, he wrapped it around her, before picking her up in his arms. He made sure he was covered before he proceeded to practically run to the infirmary.

Viktor was borderline furious, and it took all his willpower not to bark out something when he saw his sister, instead deciding to follow behind his headmaster and Snape's' billowing cloaks with Dimitri at his side.

Igor was whispering softly in Bulgarian to Valerie as he marched through the castle whilst Snape simply ordered the onlookers of Hogwarts students away. Snape stopped walking at one student, Granger, Snape called her, and told her to get Dumbledore.

Upon arriving at the infirmary, the quartet were greeted with a flustered Madame Pomfrey, who immediately lead Igor to a bed at the end of the hall upon Viktor's request as he did not want visitors walking past his sister to visit other occupants of the room, and he carefully lowered her onto the bed.

"What happened?" Madame Pomfrey questioned.

Igor pulled her aside and told her what he found since he was the one who knew the most before Madame Pomfrey hastily pushed them all away from the bed as she pulled a curtain around the area, shutting herself and Valerie away from sight.

"Kakvo se sluchva?!" (What is happening) Viktor barked, his anger could no longer be held in.

"Vie dvamata , otvÅn! Sega!" (You two, outside! Now!) Igor walked out of the infirmary without waiting for a reply. Dimitri and Viktor simply looked at each other, before casting one look back at where Valerie was hidden and followed Karkaroff.

When the pair passed through the doors to the corridor Igor was waiting.

"Will she be okay?" Viktor questioned softly, all anger had dissipated now, he was still angered about not knowing what was going on, but figured that was soon coming to his knowledge, and he was too concerned over Valerie now.

"I cannot answer that, Viktor, though I don't think she is well," Igor watched the boy take in a breath at the answer but before Viktor could ask what had happened Dimitri bet him to it.

"What happened?"

Igor gave the only answer he could without questioning Valerie, though he knew what it looked like, he didn't want to confirm it, he wanted to know what Valerie was doing and not share what he could only assume.

"I don't know, you'll have to ask her that, but don't push Madame Pomfrey, get the answer from Valerie. Tell no one. Snape is going to inform the Malfoy heir that Valerie is in the infirmary, but he is not to tell anyone else of what has occurred."

"Does he get to know what happend before us?" Dimitri voiced his thoughts.

"If you really want to know before him, be there for her. Don't push it her or she'll push you out," and with that Igor walked down the hall, disappearing around the next turn.

Viktor and Dimitri simply waited outside the hall for Dumbledore, and it wasn't long before the older wizard arrived.

Viktor and Dimitri said nothing when the headmaster arrived, both simply acknowledged him with a curt nod before turning and walking back into the infirmary to where Valerie was. There was no point in talking, they didn't know what was happening so they couldn't exactly answer any of Dumbledore's questions if he did enquire as to what was happening.

They crossed to the other side of the infirmary, Madame Pomfrey was pulling back the curtain surrounding Valerie's bed before closing it when she was on the other side, muttering a quick scourgify to get rid of the blood covering her robes.

Blood, there was so much covering the matron that Viktor knew was his sister's, making him feel sick, what happened to his little sister?

"She's stable now, unconscious, but stable. If she wakes, call for me. Don't put too much strain on her before then," Poppy informed them before turning to leave.

"What happened?" Viktor questioned, his face expressionless except the anger in his eyes, though they were cast on the white curtain where his sister lay behind.

"I cannot say what, for I myself am not certain. The healing spells worked as well as they could though she'll be left with scarring. I've tried to do my best but there's a lot of Dark magic used for mine to heal her." The last part of her sentence was directed a Dumbledore. Dimitri had stayed silent since Igor had left and Viktor still only wanted answers.

"What do you think happened?" Viktor tried again.

Poppy's eyes softened as she turned to Valerie's older twin.

"My dear, I think she tried to take her own life."
