Blacktie
Though trying for years to get rid of the title Heiress Megumi still had to go to these dumb Black tie events.
"Its black tie why am I wearing a bow tie?" Ace asked her.
She loved Ace to pieces but it did irate her when he had to question practically everything she was doing.
"Just customs," She answered.
"Why can't Marco go," Ace whined.
"He would be but work," The both sighed.
Beeping outside sounded and they sighed, "Please best behaviour."
Megumi was normally a very calm and happy person but tonight she actually felt like strangling the woman in front of her and for once it wasn't her mother. Miku had been one of her few friends when she was a child, Megumi had a law degree for god sake she worked for one the top solicitors in New World and she was listening to this child prattle on about the wrong color of pink they gave her one day.
Her eyes caught Ace across the ballroom watching him trying to steal a tray of food off one of the waiters. She had to admit this was slightly amusing, watching them practically dance around each other.
She giggled softly watching Ace do the old tap and slide trick, "What is so funny?" Miku asked.
Megumi just smiled brightly at Ace as he caught her eyes across the ballroom looking like a child who's parents caught them with their hand in the cookie jaw.
"Nothing..." She mumured sighing as another one of her old friends slipped up and started talking.
Throughout the evening she did not care that Ace was being Ace actually it made her smile brightly every time, including the time were she just outwardly insulted one of the top family members saying he ate like a big.
Which was honestly true, "Megumi," Her mother hissed, "Will you keep your date under control!"
Megumi snorted as she watched Ace slip past the waiter listing the tray the man was holding out his hand, "Ace loves his food mother I cant do anything about that."
Her mother glared at her, "You are the next head of one the twenty families."
"Eighteen mother," Megumi sighed.
"You are meant to act like it and not be dancing off with this so called Law degree and screwing whatever man you see fit," Her mother hissed.
Megumi groaned in annoyance before looking her mother straight in the eyes, "I continue coming to these events to keep you and father in the Governments good lights mother remember that, now I have had enough of this stupid prittle prattle for this evening we will be leaving."
Megumi ignored the squawking her mother was making as she walked over to Ace taking the tray out his hand handing it to the waiter, "We are leaving," She stated.
"What?" Ace questioned.
"I have had enough," she told him.
Ace chuckled as he looped his arm around her waist as they left.
Once home Megumi laid down on the sofa kicking off her heels, "Never again," She groaned as she sunk into the sofa switching on the tv.
AN: So a little thought I had the other day of Ace being the only reason why Megumi stayed at a gala event.
