Chapter 4 Whats up?
When they arrived at the cafe they both order some drinks and sat down. They sat in silence, until Jimmy finally broke the ice. "how have you been?"
"Fine," Cindy said.
There was another moment of silence.
Then Jimmy just had had to ask "What happened to you."
Cindy gulped. "What do you mean?"
"When you left, why did you leave?"
Cindy stayed silent. Jimmy was starting to get irritated and was about to say something, when the worker said "One strawberry shake, and an iced mocha ready."
Jimmy walked over to get the drinks and Cindy took a breath of relief.
When Jimmy came back he set the strawberry shake in front of Cindy and sat down.
Jimmy was going to ask once again where Cindy has been, but got caught off by Cindy asking "So what have you been up to? Any new inventions."
Jimmy wasn't expecting the question, but was more then happy to talk about his inventions.
"Yes, I've made a lot of new inventions. I also improved some of my inventions. My Hypercube can hold even more items now and up to 10 people. Although I wouldn't let people get sucked back up in the cube," He said rubbing the back of his neck remembering the time he was told it sucked up both Cindy and Libby.
"Well that's good because as fun as it was to be in that cube I wouldn't wish it upon anyone else to get sucked up in there."
"yeah, I can understand that" Jimmy said.
"Why? did you get sucked up in the cube too because I didn't think that cube could hold your whole head in it." Cindy said sticking out her tongue playfully.
Jimmy would have felt insulted, but was too happy to see some of the old Cindy was still left, where ever it had gone.
"Hey my head has gotten more proportion it. I just had to grow into it." Jimmy said somewhat proudly.
"Well that's true you have grown up real nicely." Cindy said looking into his eyes, blushing a slight pink.
Jimmy blushed. "You have grown up extraordinary also." He then took her hand in his. "Cindy what are we?"
"What do you mean Neutron?" Cindy asked.
"Well before you left we were dating, and I would think of you everyday. Your finally back and I want to be together with you. I don't want to ever see you go again." Jimmy said looking into the one eye that was uncovered.
"I thought of you everyday too and I would like to be together with you again." Cindy said squeezing Jimmys hand a little.
"So does that mean we are a couple." Jimmy asked eagerly.
"I never broke up with you did I." Cindy stated.
"True, but with you all of a sudden leaving it can be considered by other people that we were no longer an item."
"Well that's other people for you," Cindy said shrugging, and taking a drink of her shake.
"Yeah," Jimmy agreed taking a drink of his Mocha. He then looked at his watch and noticed the time. "Oh shoot we better get going wouldn't want you to be late for art class." Jimmy said with a smile.
"Yeah," Cindy said getting up from her seat. They both left the cafe with their drinks and back to school. When they arrived to Cindy's art class Jimmy gave her a long hug then walked away to his class. Cindy gave a small smile, while Libby came up to her.
"I'm so glad you guys are still together. You guys are together right?" Libby asked.
"Yeah."
"Good! Now lets get a seat." Libby said walking over to one of the tables. They both sat down and waited for the teacher to come in.
The teacher took roll and told us to make a scale chart with three different paints.
As they painted Libby said "So your coming over to my house today right."
"uh, I'm guessing I am now," Cindy answered.
"Good, because I need some serious girl time. When your dating sheen the only other people your really around is Jimmy and Carl." Libby said as if it was the worst thing in the world.
"So you and sheen are still together then? I haven't really gotten a chance to ask." Cindy inquired.
Libby smiled. "Yeah and its great. Most people still didn't think it would last because of his Ultra Lord obsession, but hes gotten a lot more chill about it. He also has been working with Jimmy way more to not be so, well, dumb, and its really helped. He's still not the brightest crayaon in the box, but he really is a sweet heart. Remember how he would always carry my books for me, he still does. I haven't had to carry a book in I don't even know how long."
Cindy couldn't help but smile at how happy Libby seemed. Even while she was gone Libby was still happy and that made her happy.
"Thats great. I'm really glad to hear that," Cindy said.
Libby smiled at Cindy's comment as they kept on painting while Libby gabbed on about life and her and sheen.
Then the bell rang Cindy got up with Libby and Libby showed her the way to her calculus class.
Cindy realized after sitting down that this will be the first class she was truly alone. She kept her head down, but still was keeping a strong eye on her surroundings and what was going on. After class she quickly gathered her stuff and hurried out the door. She headed to Libby's Locker. Libby smiled once she saw her and waved to her. Cindy gave a small smile and walked up to her.
"Hey girl," She said grabbing some of her books and closing the locker door.
"hey," Cindy replied back.
Libby turned to sheen who just showed up and handed him her books.. She had said something, but Cindy didn't hear it because she quickly turned around to see Jimmy who was about to hug her from behind.
He was a little surprised at her quick reaction I mean he didn't even touch her yet.
"Hey," he replied somewhat timidly.
Cindy let out the breath she didn't know she was holding in and said "hey."
Jimmy smiled at her. He felt so happy just to see her and have her back, and be his. He cautiously wrapped Cindy in a hug. Cindy slowly wrapped her arms around him and snuggled her face into his chest. Oh how she missed his smell and just his love. She felt like the stone cold heart that she had develop was slowly melting away. After a minute or two of just hugging each other yet again Libby gave a fake cough and they broke apart.
"i know you want to be with your hubby and all, but I would like to take away your girl for a day. She probably needs some serious girl time just as I do." Libby stated.
Jimmy chuckled and nodded yes.
"Good," Libby said grabbing Cindy wrist and waving bye to the boys.
As they walked to Libby house, Libby couldn't help but notice how paranoid Cindy seemed on the way home. Libby knew she would have to get to the bottom of what was going on with Cindy and soon. They finally reached Libby's house. They walked in and up the stairs to Libby's room.
They both sat on Libby's bed and Cindy asked "wheres your mom?"
"Shes still at work, her firm has gotten more clients so shes gone more," Libby explained.
"oh, okay." Cindy said as she examined the room. She then said "your room hasn't changed much," and started to have flash back memory's of how they would sit around the room and chat about the latest fashion or what was happening at school, while jamming to music. Then they would have a mini fashion show with Libbys clothes.
Cindy was snapped out of her flashbacks as Libby waved her hand in her face saying "Hello, earth to Cindy."
"Huh," was all Cindy said
"You have been dazing out a lot girl. You okay?" Libby asked concerned.
"yeah, sorry I was just thinking back on all the good times we had in this room."
"yeah they were fun times. Now speaking of the past, I must know what happened to you? Why did you just leave all of a sudden?" Libby asked needing to know.
"Libby I just," Cindy paused for a second then continued "i just can't."
"Come on girl I'm your best friend. You know I wont say anything." Libby Exclaimed.
"It's not that I don't trust you. I'm just... I'm just not ready to say whats going on right now. It wouldn't be safe for you if I told you." Cindy said as she gripped tightly on her jeans.
"What do you mean?" Libby asked confused.
"All I will be able to tell you right now is my dad got into a bunch of shit with certain people. Very dangerous people." Cindy said through her teeth.
"Cindy do you mean like the mo-" but before Libby could finish Cindy cut her off and said "That's all I can say right now without taking a chance to endanger your life. I swear I will tell you more when I can, but right now I just can't."
Libby sighed. "All right girl, but please when you can tell me, tell me. Okay?"
"I will," Cindy said firmly.
"okay, well to get off that topic then are you excited for Britney's birthday party?" Libby asked excitedly.
Libby, I don't think I should-," but this time Libby cut Cindy off. "Oh, no Cindy you got to do at least this for me."
Cindy sighed knowing it would be hopeless to fight the matter and said "okay."
"Great! So now since that's settled we got to get you some new clothes for the party. Not saying that the clothes you have on are bad, but for a party you need some new clothes. Even I need some new clothes," Libby said as she addressed her own attire.
"Libby we don't need to get new clothes," Cindy said trying to talk Libby out of the idea.
"Oh no, your finally back and we have some serious shopping to catch up on. Ill even do your make-up for the party." Libby said.
"Thats not necessary Libby," Cindy said still trying to talk her out of it.
"Yes it is. My best girl is back and have you ever tried to take sheen and the boys shopping," Libby stated as if it was terribly horrible.
Libby expression made Cindy for the first time in years truly laugh.
Cindy then said teasingly "I bet it was fun."
"If that is your definition of fun, I must question your judgment. Sheen wouldn't leave the toy store until he made sure he had all the recent ultra lord items. Jimmy would make snide comments at all the advertisements and sales on how they were ridiculous and how half of them where so corny a three year old could come up with it. Carl though was somewhat helpful at times, but if he saw something that was llama related you completely lost him, so you see I just need my right hand girl with me."
"I don't know," Cindy said still a little unsure about going shopping.
"Besides don't you want to impress Jimmy with how hot you have gotten," Libby stated with a sly smile.
Cindy blushed a light pink and said quietly "I don't know."
Libby smiled and said softly "you know he never forgot about you. He was always trying to work on a new invention to find out where you were or some way he could see you. He even built this machine that could track you by your DNA, but it took a few weeks to pin point where you were exactly and by the time it got close to pin pointing you. You would have moved again somewhere. He did however pin point you out just enough to find that you guys where somewhere in Canada."
Cindy bit her lip feeling slightly worried that she was too easy to find.
Libby continued on. "He was determined to find you. I mean he even turned down Betty when she asked if he wanted to go out. He would always tell me that you were the only person in his heart and he would never go for anyone else, but you. He really loves you Cindy and I know just by that seen in the hall today that you love him just as much."
Cindy couldn't help but feel pure happiness at what Libby had told her. It made Cindy have to hold back tears.
"Thank you Libby. You don't know how happy that makes me feel." Cindy said with a big smile on her face.
"Good! Now lets start planning our trip to the mall. I know how you like to always be organized," Libby said grabbing some pen and paper.
Cindy nodded in agreement.
The rest of the night they planned out there trip to the mall. What they were going to do there, what they needed to get, even what to do after the mall. Finally Cindy left Libbys house, but not before her and Libby hugged goodbye. As she walked down to her house the sun had already set. Cindy kept her head down low and she looked side to side just like her walk to school. All of her senses became on high alert. Her hand never left the inside of her pocket where she carried a butterfly knife. She finally made it home. Once inside she looked around cautiously making sure nothing seemed out of place, when her mom walked out from the kitchen.
"Hello Cynthia," Her mom said.
"Hello, mother."
"How was Libby's?"
"Good."
"good I'm glad," Her mother said as she walked over to Cindy. Once closes enough she whispered, "nothing to report about."
"negative, no suspicious personal is found around here yet," Cindy said in a monotone voice.
Cindy's mom gave a small smile and said "good."
"I'm going to head to bed now," Cindy said as she started to walk up the stairs.
"okay goodnight sweety," her mother said sweetly and walked back into the kitchen.
Once Cindy was in her room she set down her backpack and laid on her bed. After a moment or two of looking up at the ceiling, she decided it was time to get in her pajamas and head to bed. When she got into bed she snuggled under the covers and slowly drifted asleep.
"Daddy!" Cindy cried.
"Leave quickly with your mother," Cindy's dad yelled.
"No I wont leave you!" Cindy cried out
"Go! If I'm gone it will be harder for them to get you. Now leave," Cindy's dad shouted.
"But Daddy!" Cindy cried out tears starting to surface.
"Come on hunny we most go," Cindy's mom exclaimed as she yanked her daughter by the arm. They started to run away tears where now streaming down Cindy's face as she heard the fetal gun shot that took her dad's life.
Cindy bursted up from her bed as a tear streamed down her face. That night she could do nothing but toss and turn as she tried to bury away one of her worst memory's.
