Setsuna and I was watching a movie when the phone rang. Setsuna took one look at the caller ID before handing it to me.
"Kaioh." was all she said and I smiled and hit the talk button.
"Hello?" I said into the speaker, hearing my new girlfriend's voice on the other end.
"Hello. Hotaru wanted me to call to see if you made it home alright. She's so absorbed in some tv show that she probably don't even notice I am on the phone." Michiru's voice replied softly, the adoration toward the child decorating her tone.
"you remembered to set parental controls right?" I questioned and she laughed, a bell like sound that caught me off guard slightly
"Haruka...I am not that stupid. Do you honestly I think that I'd leave a kid unsupervised with the remote if I didn't?" She asked, sarcasm painting her voice.
I rolled my eyes at her tone even though I knew she couldn't see me.
"I guess not." I retorted, trying to get a row out of her despite t he fact that I felt myself fall even more intensely in love with her.
I heard her huff on the other end though when she spoke I could hear the smile in her tone when she retorted
"Look who's talking!"
I knew the jab was playful and I could imagine the smile decorating her angelic face.
"Shut up love." I grumbled, causing her to laugh again before stating
"you better still act like this when you are able to come back to school."
I glanced down then, that request would be harder to fulfill than any other that she could have made.
"I'll try Michiru-san." I stated and I could hear her sigh.
"I know it'll be hard but that's all I ask for Haruka-chan." she replied, her voice so gentle that I felt my guard actually drop for a brief moment. No one ever used that pronoun with me—except Setsuna—however now this mermaid like girl who was always so kind to me despite what everyone else thought was slowly peeling back the layers of the walls that I had shrouded my heart with to prevent the pain that I had always felt when getting close to someone.
"then that is what you'll get." I manage to say past the emotion that threatened to choke me.
"Ruka, I only ask for you to try...don't block me out."
she sounded close to tears when she said this, her voice shaking ever so slightly.
"Never Michiru. I will never block you out."
